Say "I Do" to Style!

Amanda Turner, Dustin Turner,

STYLE IS A MANNER OF THE WAY YOU DO SOMETHING OR A DISTINCTIVE APPEARANCE THAT YOU CHOOSE TYPICALLY DETERMINED BY THE PRINCIPLES TO WHICH SOMETHING IS DESIGNED. Style is the first thing the rest of the world sees, and whether or not we want to admit it, deep down we all care a little about how the world perceives us walking into a room or down the aisle. With style being all around us in the form of clothing, hair, accessories, home decor or even food, we bring you our September issue— have you guessed it yet? The style issue! Whether you’re saying “I do” to walking down the aisle, heading out for some fun, or choosing the best culinary designs, we’re excited to share with you the stylings of Chesterfield. We’re not just into clothes and accessories, though. From local designers, local entertainment and local boutiques to style you, your special event and even your meals, Chesterfield has so much to offer we wish we could’ve squeezed it all in. Whatever kind of style you’re into this season, we hope this issue inspires you to

driven ingredients. They incorporate items from regional producers, such as Buttonwood Farm, Rain Crow Ranch, Silent Oak Farm, Eat Here STL, Geiserts Farm, Weisenberger Mill and Dry Dock Farm. Kate says the family business offers fast-casual counter service at the Chesterfield and Fenton locations, including breakfast, brunch, lunch, wine, cocktails, sweets and desserts. They have full-service dinner offerings at the Macklind location. She says seasonal menu changes respect the ability to source locally as much as possible. "Russell’s approach to baking is to produce clean, simple presentations, with the philosophy that the offerings speak for themselves," she says. Kate says rather than working with fondant or themed cakes, their cakes include all-butter buttercream, sweetened whipped cream, fresh fruit or chocolate ganache. "Over the last 12 years, we've educated our customer base in that the art of cakes and all sweets is in the beauty of simplicity. We built our bakery business on the fact that once clients experience our product, they continue to return for all sweets for all occasions," she says. "We're fortunate that our products have been included in countless family and business occasions, as well as holidays. We're grateful to be invited to the table." PRIVATE EVENTS CAN BE PERFECTLY SWEET For catering, the Russell's crew works individually with clients. "We don't do wedding cakes. Instead, we offer whole cakes. Clients will choose from our variety of cakes and present them as a cake table," Kate says. She says among their most popular cakes are fresh toasted coconut cake; lemon curd cake; signature chocolate cake; Mexican hot chocolate cake with cinnamon-bourbon buttercream; port wine chocolate cake; mocha toasted almond cake; and fresh strawberry cake with buttermilk citrus pound cake, layers of whipped cream, fresh strawberries and vanilla buttercream frosting. Another one of their frequently requested items is their version of carrot cake, which is the special recipe of Kate's mother and Russell’s grandmother. For wedding showers or special events, Kate says they also can provide a variety of sweets, such as gooey butter cake, small cookies, mini cakes, brownies and miniature coconut macaroons to create a dessert table. "We have a delivery service, or clients can pick up their desserts," she says. Bakery catering from Russell's requires two to three weeks' notice, possibly longer for events serving more than 200 guests. Want to combine food with an all-in-one handy spot for a celebration? Russell's space can be rented from 4 to 6 p.m. She says with a month's notice, they can provide a light lunch and sweets. 14888 Clayton Road Chesterfield, Missouri

Additionally, Russell's box lunch program can be couriered to locations for 10 to 150-plus diners.

ALL EYES ARE ON THESE AVANTGARDE LASH AND BROW SERVICES ARTICLE JULIE BROWN PATTON PHOTOGRAPHY WINK IBOUTIQUE LASH & BROW WHEN CHRISTINA PASSANISE LAUNCHED WINK IBOUTIQUE LASH & BROW BAR IN 2016, IT WAS THE REGION'S FIRST BEAUTY SALON TO FOCUS ON FACIAL FEATURES WITH HER OWN DISTINCT BRAND OF EYELASH EXTENSIONS AND CHEMICAL-FREE ADHESIVES. Christina offered quality lashes with the safest new adhesives on the market, along with her passion for helping women feel and look their best. Many of her clients immediately recognized she was providing the most desired products and treatments available. "We were the first lash and brow bar to offer our own exclusive brand in St. Louis," she says. Shortly thereafter, she was dubbed the "Brow Queen" by her clients. Learning from years in the lash industry and as a licensed esthetician, Christina says she firmly understood how vital it was to get the right lashes fit for each individual. This beauty expert holds more than five certifications in lash extensions, skin treatments, airbrush makeup artistry, micro-pigmentation and micro-blading. She established a four-month apprenticeship program for her staff and a certification program for students.

"All of our licensed technicians have been highly trained in our classic and volume applications," she says. In fact, Christina and her staff now perform six to seven semi-permanent brow applications each day of their operations. "Fuller brows adds youth to any face," she adds. She's had opportunities to provide flawless makeup applications for brides on their big days, as well.

20

Chesterfield Lifestyle | September 2018

Lash Fill/Lift

"One of the ways we can best help is preparing brides for weddings, such as getting their skin in order," Christina says. They also have makeup stations so clients can try makeup applications and approaches prior to weddings and other special events. Serious brow devotees flock to Christina and her team for their signature 3D Eyebrow Sculpting application, which is a technique that transforms sparse brows into perfectly symmetrical plush arches that elegantly frame the face. While micro-pigmentation is considered permanent makeup, micro-blading is superfluous and deemed semi-permanent. Christina says micro-blading generally lasts more than a year. "Unlike the harsh block tattooing of the past, 3D Eyebrow Sculpting looks completely natural because it mimics real brow hair and can be individually customized. Depending on your needs, brows can be subtly colored or completely remodeled, as each new strand is intricately etched by hand," she says. In addition to lash and brow treatments, Wink iBoutique offers Skin Med Spa services to hydrate, firm and give skin a radiant glow. Christina says she is expanding the Wink iBoutique Town & Country location to become a full medical spa, with a nurse injector on-staff and innovative skin treatments new to the St. Louis region. Short on time? Christina says they can provide quick 3D Eyebrow Sculpting

eyebrow shaping or lash fills during lunch times, too. September 2018 | Chesterfield Lifestyle

TOPGOLF TEES OFF IN CHESTERFIELD WHO’S GAME? ARTICLE AND PHOTOGRAPHY JULIE BROWN PATTON

Topgolf now operates in 44 venues with 8 million-plus annual visitors worldwide. The entertainment chain, founded by two golf-loving English twin brothers, uses technology to make golf scoring fun while enabling people to connect and socialize. A U.S. licensee, WestRiver Group, brought the Topgolf concept to Alexandria, Virginia, in 2005. 24

Chesterfield Lifestyle | September 2018

DALLAS-BASED TOPGOLF REPLACED THE FORMER HARDEES ICEPLEX IN THE CHESTERFIELD VALLEY. The entertainment facility allows golfers to hit balls at 11 targets from 102 high-tech and climate-controlled driving bays on three levels. The Topgolf St. Louis-Chesterfield 65,000-square-foot complex also includes a restaurant, an upscale bar and 3,000 square feet of private event space, says Rebecca Potorny, local Topgolf marketing manager. Located at 16851 N. Outer 40 Road, the Topgolf St. Louis 14.34-acre property was purchased from Summit Ice Center Investors, LLC. "Topgolf will help increase our growing tourism base and offer a unique destination for golf enthusiasts and those

just looking for a fun outing with friends, family or coworkers," says Chesterfield Mayor Bob Nation. Golfing bays can host up to six players at one time and seat eight. Topgolf managers estimate the new location will serve approximately 450,000 visitors in its first year of operation. Topgolf customers enjoy point-scoring golf games using microchipped balls that immediately score themselves, showing players the accuracy and distance of their shots on a TV screen in their hitting bay. Rebecca says Topgolf hosts a Summer Academy, which is a half-day golf clinic for children ages 6 to 12 years from May to August. They also will host lessons or classes for adults and may offer family fun passes.

Hardees IcePlex first opened in 1995, serving as the home of the St. Louis Blues Alumni for years. It also once served as the official practice rink for the Blues until the club moved to the St. Louis Outlet Mall. The rink was home to the St. Louis AAA Blues and was used for ice skating and high school hockey. The cost to upgrade the nearly 20-year-old facility, which served as home to the Chesterfield Hockey Association, proved too substantial to pursue.

Modern wedding dresses are closer to skin tones, Debbie says, because those hues flatter most women better than a really bright white. Samantha and Debbie like to give personal names to every style of wedding dress they sell. And, of course, they relish seeing photos from client weddings to soak in how radiantly beautiful and confident their brides are beaming in those images. Samantha says she loves the relationships that they form with brides. "SB brides are friends for life!" she proclaims.

FROM BEING VOTED MOST ATHLETIC IN HIGH SCHOOL TO MAKING ALL THE LADIES SWOON OVER HIM AND HIS ENTOURAGE IN 2012’S MAGIC MIKE, CHANNING TATUM PROVES HE’S GOT GAME, BOTH ON AND OFF THE BIG SCREEN. Born in Cullman, Alabama, in 1980, and raised in the bayous of Pascagoula, Mississippi, life hasn’t always been about the big lights of LA. Struggling with dyslexia and ADD all throughout his childhood, Channing found that his abilities were better focused in sports, playing football, baseball, track, soccer and even performing martial arts, than in the classroom. When the Tatums moved to the Tampa area during his high school years, Channing attended the private Tampa Catholic High School, as his parents hoped it would help his studies. to drop out, Channing soon secured odd jobs, like stripping at a local The Boathouse in Forest Park

nightclub, performing then as “Chan Crawford.” Wanting to make a film about this time in his life, Channing joined forces with Director Steven Soderbergh of Sex, Lies, and Videotape, Traffic and Erin Brokovich fame to make the 2012 Warner Brothers film Magic Mike. Luckily for Channing, his move to Miami to continue his stripping career was short-lived. He was discovered by a talent scout, which sent his career into the stratosphere. He modeled for Abercrombie & Fitch, Nautica, Gap and Emperio Armani, and he starred in commercials for Pepsi, American Eagle and Mountain Dew. He also starred in Ricky Martin’s music video for “She Bangs.” With all this visibility, it wasn’t long before Hollywood came calling. Channing starred opposite his future wife, Jenna Dewan, for his breakout role in Step Up. And then the roles just kept coming his way, including starring roles in G.I. Joe, Dear John, Haywire, The Vow and 21 Jump Street. In 2013, his action prowess continued when he was cast in White House Down, playing opposite Jamie Foxx. From that point on, Channing has graced the big screen each and every year, with such films as Foxcatcher, Magic Mike XXL, The Hateful Eight,

says the Vineyard is decorated in a contemporary, Old World design. For airy, crispy and light-hearted surroundings, Jeannine recommends the Garden suite. She says some guests come seeking a room with less light so they can unplug and sleep longer. For them, she suggests the Woodland suite, which she says has warm tones and is nicknamed the treehouse room. Both the Garden and Woodland suites can accommodate three guests. Nearby attractions include restaurants, antique shops, specialty stores and a bakery called the Cookie Doe. Wineries include Augusta Winery, Blumenhof Winery, Chandler Hill Vineyards, Louis P. Balducci Vineyards and Montelle Winery. The region's Klondike Park also overlooks the Missouri River. Guests can venture to the August Busch Wildlife area or bike the Katy Trail. Purina Farms, the Historic Daniel Boone Home at Lindenwood Park and Shaw Nature Reserve are just miles away. "People make great memories here. I really appreciate opportunities to be part of their lives and become friends, where we wouldn't have typically crossed paths," Jeannine says. STONERIDGE IS ON THE MARKET Developments arose that may require the Mannings to travel internationally for business; so while they relish their B&B business, they believe it would be best to find a new owner for this retreat located at 651 Stone Ridge Lane.

Jeannine says the lodge includes an innkeeper area that could serve as a personal residence or rented as another luxury suite. What formerly was an office off the kitchen currently is a bedroom for a family member. Alternatively, Jeannine says she can envision the lodge becoming a multigenerational home for a family or a second home for those seeking solitude and tranquility. She adds that the property includes horse trails, pastureland and clover fields. "The makeup of the lot offers so much creativity and a nearby private vineyard as part of the landscape." At press time, this St. Charles County property was listed at $995,000. Built in 1997, the Bavarian country estate has 7 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms. The custom home design originated from the mountains of Austria, facing due south with precise angles, covered decks and tinted windows to allow the winter sun to warm the house while also offering shade during hot summer days. Its open floor plan has built-in bookcases, cathedral ceilings, special millwork, 10-foot vaulted ceilings, walk-in closets and some wood floors. Associated schools are Augusta Elementary, Washington Middle and Washington High.
