Whether it was someone pushing us to be a better version of ourselves, or someone who sees the best in us, or someone we look up to for guidance, or perhaps someone we don’t personally know but that inspires us by their greatness, we can recognize the impact these role models can make our lives.

HIGH-QUALITY SHIRTS THAT FIT IN ALL THE RIGHT PLACES
For men with longer-than-average arms, finding a shirt that fits well can be very challenging. Tom Shaw of Mendham knows this frustration well.
“A few years ago, I was sitting down reading and journaling, and with my arm bent, my cuff was all the way down at my elbow,” he says. He knew other men were having the same issues and set out to find a solution. “I have some family members who are in fashion so I was able to tap into those resources. I was surrounded by expert designers who were able to provide advice.”
In 2021, Tom founded Broadyarns, which offers three different styles of high-caliber shirts – Button-down, Fleece and Henley – with sleeve lengths that are about two inches longer than most mass retailers.
“We’ve created something that fits the gap in shirts for the regular guy who’s not CONTINUED >
going into big and tall shops, and who desires a super high-quality shirt that they can put on and have it look and feel good.”
Every shirt is made in New York’s Garment District. “I want to keep control on quality and the people there are extraordinarily conscientious and care about their craft. Plus, our business is based in New Jersey, and the Garment District is in our backyard.”
The small-batch all-cotton shirts consist of organic and sustainable materials. “That has to do with our values, and after a bit of field testing the market, we realized there’s plenty of demand from people who care about the environment in the demographic that fits the Broadyarns customer,” he says. “Plus, being eco-conscious also means building a durable garment that will last for years to come. The result is less waste in the environment. Customers have literally said to me, ‘This is what quality feels like.’”
Many of the people ordering from his website are actually women. “They’re giving me the dimensions of their fiancés or their sons and they’re so happy to have finally found this type of product for them.”
Tom’s wife, Mari, is a huge asset to the business. “She’s amazing when it comes to fashion and she’s extraordinarily creative.”
He and Mari have a blended family of six children and two dogs, Bingo and Henry, and when not working, the family loves going backpacking. “We went to the Spanish Pyrenees last summer,” he says. “This year we’re going backpacking at Zion, Bryce Canyon, and the Grand Canyon.”
For Tom, Broadyarns is not just a business, but a passion. “We’re just getting started and we’re so excited.”

Raise a glass to friendship, family and fun
ARTICLE BY SUE BALDANI PHOTOGRAPHY BY CHRIS JORDA PHOTOGRAPHYWhen you order a beer at Glenbrook Brewery in Morristown, chances are you’ll be enjoying an award-winning recipe. Heath Traver is the head brewer who has won over 15 awards over the last three years. Their most recent, beer of the year from the 2023 annual Brewski Awards for their Ford Maion Basement Barrel-Aged Beer beating out over 700 submissions.
“Our goal is to have people enjoy our atmosphere...there is no pressure here to leave. Stay and enjoy your beer.”
It all started innocently enough back in 2011 when his brother-in-law Skip bought him a beer kit for Christmas. “When I started brewing I really enjoyed it,” says Heath. “I shared it with friends and family, and then started getting larger equipment brewing five gallons at a time.” All this brewing took place at his home on Glenbrook Road in Morris Plains.
After winning his first award in 2015 for his Jockey Hollow Pumpkin Ale™, he knew that he wanted to take it further. Partnering with his brother-in-law, Darren Cregan, who has a background in art and advertising, they opened Glenbrook Brewery in 2021.
The brewery’s tagline is Revolutionary Beer ®. “We build the brewery around all the revolutionary history in Morristown and name our beers after local landmarks and national parks,” says Darren. For example, one beer is called Lewis Morris™ Exploration Ale and another is Tempe Wick Farmhouse Sour™. If you’re
not sure which beer to try, order a flight with small tastes of different options. They are the first and only brewery in Morristown.
Private events can now be held at Glenbrook, from birthday parties to corporate and fundraising events. The possibilities are endless. “We offer straight cash bar, or the host pays the tab and can set a limit for drinks. You can cater from your favorite location or cook at home. We don’t sell food.” They have capacity to host 223 guests, and three spaces. Downstairs holds 110, upstairs 35 guests and in their patio 40 guests. They can also take the beer on the road to special events with their traveling tap system.
In addition to serving great tasting beer and seasonal hard seltzers, their large 5,000 square foot open-concept brewery is family friendly. There are board games to play and non-alcoholic drinks
including coke products, seltzers flavored drinks and birch beer. They want families like theirs to be able to come in and have a good time together. “We encourage families to come with their kids and relax. Sunday is stroller central here.”
Pets are always welcome on their patio, and on Mondays and Tuesdays, they can even hang out inside the brewery. Of course, service animals are allowed anytime.
Due to a change in legislation, breweries can now provide food for their events. They host trivia night every Wednesday and Saturday night live music. For any other day, there are menus available from restaurants around town. Most will even deliver.
“Our goal is to have people enjoy our atmosphere… there is no pressure here to leave. Stay and enjoy your beer”, says Conor Boucher, general manager.
The brewery is open daily. Visit GlenbrookBrewery.com
FROM TAYLOR SWIFT AND HERMÈS® TO PROFESSIONAL ATHLETES, THIS GALLERY HITS ALL THE RIGHT NOTES
Swifties have something to cheer about in Chatham. Legends Gallery at Frames on Main is known for its incredible sports memorabilia, but in 2022, the store expanded into the music scene. Last year, owner Greg Dailey brought in some products featuring Taylor Swift and the reaction has been phenomenal.
“We have an original movie poster from the Eras Tour movie, old-school 33 albums airbrushed, and hand painted with her image, and an ‘autographed’ acoustic guitar,” he says. “These albums have been such a hit that he’s had to reorder them four times from a little shop in Porto, Portugal, that he found while traveling. “
Greg’s been in the framing industry for 30 years, and he says he’s never had a musician or rock band have the impact that Swift has had on his business. “I’ve been framing concert posters, tickets, – you name it – for customers.” He’s also been using Italian made sparkly glitter frames to make the results even more special.
Another new offering that’s creating a lot of buzz is his framed Hermès® scarves. “I had a customer come in three weeks before Christmas and she bought in three Hermès scarves,” says Greg. “They had these incredibly vibrant colors on them and we framed them. They were stunning.”
He loved the final product so much that he ordered five more to frame and hang in the store. “I’ve sold four of them so far. Tonia, who works for me and is very creative, did a window with the scarves, Hermès boxes and drapery. It looked fantastic. People are coming in and we’re selling them.”
Even with all this going on, Greg hasn’t neglected the sports side of his gallery, which carries everything from framed classic sports photos to jerseys, signed baseballs, football helmets, hockey pucks and incredible artwork of athletes in action.

NJ Devils hand painted art work.
“It has expanded tremendously,” he says. “It’s all over the map. With baseball season here, we’ve been selling more signed baseballs than ever.” Greg also keeps a lot of football merchandise in stock, and often has local players come in to sign autographs and take photos. These events are so popular that the line sometimes goes around to the back of the store.
“I’ve had a bunch of Jets players come in, and Kayvon Thibodeaux, Number 5, a star defensive player for the New York Giants, was here on May 4th.”
Other professional athletes who have taken part in these events include Eli Manning, Mariano Rivera, Carli Lloyd, and Keith Hernandez. Ticket holders can bring merchandise they bought at Legends Gallery, or elsewhere. The sports merchandise and autograph events make great gifts for Father’s Day and for collectors all year round.
Greg says he’s constantly updating the gallery’s selection, fostering new ideas, and keeping the store interesting. “A lot of my heart and soul goes into this.”

The Moscow Mule is a classic cocktail with a fascinating origin story. Legend has it that it was invented in the 1940s when a bartender combined vodka, ginger beer, and lime juice in a copper mug, creating a refreshing and zesty drink that became an instant hit.To make a traditional Moscow Mule, start with 2 ounces of vodka, preferably a high-quality Russian vodka like Stolichnaya or Beluga. Add 4 ounces of ginger beer for a spicy kick, and squeeze in the juice of half a lime. Stir gently to combine, then pour over ice in a copper mug. Garnish with a lime wedge and a sprig of fresh mint for a burst of aroma. For a creative twist, try these variations:1.Berry Mule: Add a splash of cranberry
juice or muddle a few fresh berries in the bottom of the glass before adding the vodka and ginger beer. Garnish with extra berries for a colorful touch.2.Mexican Mule: Substitute tequila for vodka for a south-of-the-border twist. Use a spicy ginger beer and garnish with a slice of jalapeño for an extra kick.3.Tropical Mule: Replace the traditional ginger beer with pineapple ginger beer or coconut ginger beer for a taste of the tropics. Garnish with a pineapple wedge or a sprig of coconut for a beachy vibe. The Moscow Mule is a versatile cocktail that lends itself to endless variations, so feel free to get creative and experiment with different flavors and ingredients!

A SIT-DOWN WITH JEFF FEINSTEIN, SHORT HILLS' FINANCIAL SPECIALIST
ARTICLE BY BEN MEYER | PHOTOGRAPHY BY CHRIS JORDA PHOTOGRAPHY“Everyone has different goals, and trajectories in their careers.”
In this unpredictable financial climate, knowing how to invest our money and handle our assets can be complicated. Some of us turn to the internet, and others to friends, family, and respected colleagues. But, to make the right decisions at the right time, the best person to speak with is a professional financial advisor. We interviewed Short Hill’s Jeffrey Feinstein, a principal and wealth advisor with KBK Wealth Management, LLC. for his professional insights. Here is what Jeff shared with us.
Q: ARE THERE ANY MINIMUM ASSET REQUIREMENTS OR FINANCIAL THRESHOLDS THAT INDIVIDUALS SHOULD CONSIDER BEFORE SEEKING THE SERVICES OF A FINANCIAL ADVISOR?
“It’s a bit less about minimum assets, but more about complexity and needs. Some advisors can charge a flat fee for financial planning, and assets aren’t required. This may make sense for a young couple with
significant student debt, but in need of important guidance. May firms, however, have significant minimum asset requirement. We don’t have minimum requirements but do limit the number of clients, so we ensure the most personalized service and a relationship to grow-into.”
Q: WHAT ARE SOME CHALLENGES AND OPPORTUNITIES THAT INDIVIDUALS SHOULD BE AWARE OF WHEN MANAGING THEIR FINANCES, AND HOW CAN YOU HELP NAVIGATE THESE?
“The biggest have been how to mentally and financially navigate the market volatility and emotional financial decisions. Over the past three years families have been through Covid, and a major market correction in 2022. There are also young families that have or are looking to purchase a new home in these difficult market conditions. A trusted advisor can be extremely helpful in navigating these decisions.”
Q: CAN YOU EXPLAIN THE POTENTIAL ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES OF VARIOUS RETIREMENT PLANNING OPTIONS, SUCH AS TRADITIONAL IRAS, ROTH IRAS, AND EMPLOYER-SPONSORED RETIREMENT PLANS?
“One should always take advantage of employer sponsored plans, as most offer a dollar-for-dollar match and higher limits than IRAs. For those self-employed there are various retirement strategies to take advantage of to limit your tax liability now or in the future. What’s also important is to consider the diversification or pre-and-post tax to provide optionality during retirement. During years of high taxes, you can pull from tax-free accounts, and vice versa.”
Q: IN TERMS OF RISK MANAGEMENT, WHAT MEASURES SHOULD INDIVIDUALS TAKE TO PROTECT THEIR FINANCIAL ASSETS AND SECURE THEIR FUTURE AGAINST UNFORESEEN CIRCUMSTANCES LIKE MEDICAL EMERGENCIES OR JOB LOSS?
“There are two types of insurance (fancy word for risk management) products – property and casualty and personal insurance. With property and casualty, it’s important to work with an advisor to cover your liability and personal belongings. With personal insurance, work with a financial advisor to access, review and secure your disability and life insurance. Not fun topics to think about but important for yourself fand your family.”
Q: LASTLY, WHAT ARE THE KEY QUALITIES OR CRITERIA THAT INDIVIDUALS SHOULD LOOK FOR WHEN SELECTING A FINANCIAL ADVISOR TO ENSURE THEY RECEIVE RELIABLE AND PERSONALIZED FINANCIAL GUIDANCE?
“First and foremost, there has to be trust and rapport, as a client has to be comfortable with the relationship. It is also important to look at the firm the advisor is with, the team and experience that surrounds them, and whether you
want to be with a firm that is independent and boutique or part of a larger entity, referred to as a wirehouse. When interviewing financial advisors, it’s also important to meet with more than one and rely on referrals as well. Lastly, look out for the term “fiduciary”, which means the advisors goals are aligned in your best interests.”
“Everyone has different goals, objectives and different trajectories in their careers,” says Jeffrey. “So, we typically do a full intake session, called a discovery meeting. We ask a lot of questions in order to get to know more about them. We then follow up with what we need for an analysis and to create a recommendation, a financial plan.”
When not helping people improve their financial health and wealth, Jeffrey, from Short Hills, loves spending time with his wife, Alexandra, their two children, 8-year-old Gemma and 5-year-old Case, and the family dog, Hank.
He adds, “I work with a lot of families with young kids and I’m fortunate to also work with a lot of my clients’ parents. Some of the same decisions I’m making for my family, I’m also making for my clients, and parents. So that’s really nice.”
