Loving All That is Local
This February Love Local issue focuses on the people and ideas that continue to shape our community in meaningful ways. From the spaces we spend time in to the experiences that bring us together, these stories highlight how intention and craftsmanship show up in everyday life.
Inside, you’ll find features that explore how local businesses evolve while staying rooted in purpose. One story looks at the thoughtful progression of a long-standing design destination and the choices behind its next chapter. Another takes a closer look at a fitness space built around connection and a more personalized approach to wellness.
We also touch on creativity in this issue, stepping inside a welcoming studio where art feels approachable, hands-on, and open to everyone, regardless of experience. For readers who appreciate food and drink, this issue also offers expert insight into pairing chocolate with wine and spirits, with an emphasis on balance, quality, and flavor.
Together, these stories reflect what Love Local looks like in practice. They show how design, wellness, creativity, and craft all contribute to a connected and vibrant community.
We hope this February issue encourages you to explore thoughtfully, support locally, and continue engaging with the people who make our region such a dynamic place to live.
Warmly,
JAMES

We had a great experience selling our home with Jamie! Her deep knowledge of the market, constant communication, and consistent availability made the entire process smooth and stress-free. She truly knows how to sell a home and takes pride in her work. Highly recommend!

Jamie has been such a wonderful person to work with! She is incredibly knowledgeable, a true expert in her field and in the area. We were out of state buyers and relied heavily on her to steer us in the right direction. She is authentic, will tell you when she feels a property is not a good option rather than push you to buy something that would not be in your best interest. I trust her completely! She went above and beyond to help us find the perfect home. Jamie is so helpful, has a heart of gold, and a great sense of humor. She is the real deal and I am so fortunate to have found her!

Inside the Artful Lodger's next chapter in Charlottesville

Some storefronts quietly become part of a community’s daily rhythm, shaping how people live in and experience a place. For more than two decades, The Artful Lodger has been one of those fixtures in Charlottesville, known for its thoughtful interiors, layered textures, and welcoming spirit. Now, owner Caroline Minsky is preparing to usher the beloved shop into a new chapter that honors its roots while embracing what’s next.
Minsky still remembers unlocking the door to the current location for the very first time. “I remember being pregnant with my first child 18 years ago when I put the key in the lock,” said Minsky. “Catching my reflection in the window, I realized I would never forget that moment.” It immediately felt like home. “I was instantly drawn to the space because it was exactly what I had imagined--big windows, ample parking, and as a bonus, it had been a beloved Charlottesville furniture store, Thorn and Company.”
Over time, the shop and the space grew together, though Minsky sees the relationship clearly as not one in which the space shaped the store. “I feel that it’s the other way around,” she said. “The Artful Lodger has shaped this space. We take a pretty vanilla setting and turn it into something outstanding with remarkable product, good vibes, and truly great customer service.” That approach, layering warmth, creativity, and personal connection, has remained central to the shop’s identity. Now, Minsky and her husband, Christopher, will be relocating to a new spot where they can do the same.
As the move approaches, there are small local details Minsky knows she’ll miss. “Revolutionary Soup. Period.” The simplicity of the statement reflects how intertwined the shop has been with its downtown surroundings and the routines of everyday Charlottesville life.
The decision to relocate was thoughtful and intentional, not rushed. “Christopher and I had always hoped to consolidate our warehouse space with our retail space [which is] a tall order unless you’re willing to go outside the city limits,” said Minsky. “I had time to sit with the idea, and eventually it started to feel not just

practical, but comfortable.” When the building was sold, the timing aligned. “When our current location sold in 2023, we knew a move was imminent, and by then, we were ready.”
That readiness turned into excitement when Minsky stepped into the new location. “When we first walked into the space at 2428 Richmond Road, I was immediately excited because the building offers so many possibilities for our business,” she said. Functionality played a major role. “We’ll have ample parking, twice the showroom space, and an attached warehouse that will make restocking and deliveries seamless.” Just as important was the character of the building itself. “The building has great light and real character. I love that we’ve taken something that was once an auto salvage and have given it new life.”
For customers, the new space means more room to explore and more opportunities to engage with the shop’s offerings. “One of the questions we’re asked most often is if we’ll be able to show more product. Yes!” Minsky said. “The new store will be twice the size of our current space.” The expansion allows for thoughtful growth. “We’ll feature a larger design center, broaden our product selection, and continue to showcase our fantastic upholstery lines that are made in the United States.”
Still, Minsky’s excitement goes beyond square footage. “I’m excited for customers, new and old, to share in our enthusiasm for the new space,” she said. “The new Lodger is a fresh canvas for creative expression that will inspire our customers

to create beautiful interiors of their own.” That sense of inspiration has long defined The Artful Lodger experience and will continue to guide its future.
Plans are already in place to celebrate the move with the community. “We definitely plan to host an open house when the weather warms up,” said Minsky. “I’m thinking The Artful Lodger’s 23rd anniversary in May will be the perfect time to celebrate.” The milestone feels fitting as a moment to not only honor longevity, but also welcome the store’s evolution.
For longtime customers who feel deeply connected to the downtown storefront, Minsky understands the emotions that come with transition. “We will miss the familiar customers who pop into our downtown store regularly when taking a break from work or just out enjoying a walk,” she said. At the same time, she sees an opportunity ahead. “Moving to our new location will be a wonderful new chapter for long-time Artful Lodger fans and new customers alike.”
Ultimately, the heart of The Artful Lodger remains unchanged. “What I want my customers to know is that The Artful Lodger is embarking on a new chapter and we invite you to join us,” said Minsky. “We look forward to seeing you!”

Elevated Training Meets Community Connection
WHERE STRENGTH BUILDS CONFIDENCE AND COMMUNITY
Gus Moore has been a member of the Charlottesville community since his days in middle school, when he engaged in sports like basketball, baseball, and swimming. At 14 years old, he started his own sneaker reselling business, working with suppliers around the country, traveling every single weekend, and selling to NBA/NFL superstars, including the 2019 UVA basketball team.
Shortly thereafter, during the pandemic, Moore built a newfound love for working out at the gym, and his own personal success in building confidence and achieving strength led him to create Project 1%, also known as The Self Improvement Project. “We built an amazing team of 15 athletes, content creators, and business owners who created media for my company,” he said. “Our goal was to inspire and unite our audiences with positive messages and amazing content creation. This company also sold five different clothing lines, all representing our positive messages!”
Now, Moore owns Uplift Training Club on the Downtown Mall. Opened just one year ago, he said the mission of the club is simple: “To help you become the strongest, healthiest version of yourself in Charlottesville’s newest, most thoughtfully designed fitness space.” Moore took the time to talk with Charlottesville City Lifestyle to explain the club's origins and what makes it stand out.

WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO OPEN UPLIFT TRAINING CLUB IN CHARLOTTESVILLE, AND HOW DOES THIS LOCATION REFLECT YOUR VISION?
This journey began with the success of my first company in 2019 and deepened after my own personal fitness transformation a few years later. Through that process, I developed a genuine love for self-improvement and a desire to create a place where others could experience meaningful change as well. Uplift Training Club grew from that vision. It’s more than a gym; it’s an elevated, results-driven experience supported by one of Charlottesville’s most dedicated fitness communities. Our location on the Downtown Mall has only strengthened that sense of connection, and it’s been a privilege to bring new life and purpose to the historic Hardware Store building.
HOW DOES YOUR APPROACH TO FITNESS, RECOVERY, AND COMMUNITY DIFFER FROM OTHER GYMS IN THE AREA?
While we offer amenities, services, and dedicated spaces you’d expect from a full-scale health club, we’ve intentionally preserved the personalized, community-driven atmosphere of a boutique studio. We believe in checking in on every single one of our members instead of checking every member in and out. Our expert trainers take an evidence-based approach to every fitness and recovery protocol at Uplift. Juliya Oksana and Hannah Hardy are truly the best of the best. These differentiators elevate our members' fitness and wellness experience each and every day.
YOU OFFER AMENITIES LIKE SAUNA & COLD-PLUNGE THERAPY, PERSONALIZED ONE-ON-ONE TRAINING, AND A “6-WEEK ULTIMATE UPLIFT EXPERIENCE” PROGRAM--WHICH OF THESE DO MEMBERS RESPOND TO MOST AND WHY?
Our members value the range of distinctive amenities and services we offer, but a few have become standouts. With our Premium Membership, members can enjoy unlimited private access to our infrared sauna and cold plunge for an additional $49

per month. This space is a dark, ambient retreat designed to restore both the body and mind.
We also offer specialized hybrid coaching programs, including the 6-Week Ultimate Uplift Experience, which provides a fully customized fitness, nutrition, and recovery plan delivered through a personalized app, along with unlimited facility access and 24/7 coaching support.
Each Saturday at 10 am, our Uplift & Latte workout has become a beloved community event. This strength and conditioning class includes complimentary coffee for members, while non-members are welcome to join for just $15.
WHAT ROLE DOES THE CHARLOTTESVILLE COMMUNITY PLAY IN YOUR CLUB--HOW DO YOU ENGAGE LOCALLY AND SUPPORT MEMBERS BEYOND WORKOUTS?
Local engagement and personalized support extend far beyond the workouts at Uplift Training Club. For example, our community has rallied behind members training for events like the NYC Marathon, helping them fundraise and stay motivated throughout their journey. We also make a deliberate effort to support fellow Charlottesville businesses through meaningful collaborations that strengthen our shared community. Looking ahead, we’re committed to expanding our charitable initiatives and deepening our involvement in local service projects. Shaping Glass, Building Community
Inside a hands-on studio making glass art accessible and approachable
For more than two decades, The Glass Palette has quietly carved out a colorful, creative niche in Charlottesville rooted in accessibility, experimentation, and a deep love of community.
Founded 21 years ago by Maria DiMassimo and eventually her daughter Cara DiMassimo, the studio began with a simple idea and grew into a welcoming space where glass art feels approachable rather than intimidating. “It’s my mother who is my partner here. It was originally her idea that she wanted to teach glass classes,” DiMassimo said. When Cara moved back to the area, she knew she wanted to help bring that vision to life, and Charlottesville felt like the right place to do it for both of them.
Instead of operating solely as a traditional teaching studio, The Glass Palette evolved into something more open-ended. Visitors can still sign up for classes, but the heart of the business lies in its walk-in fused glass sessions. Guests choose a project--anything from suncatchers and ornaments to bowls and plates--learn the basics of glass cutting, and then settle in to create. The finished pieces are fired in the kiln and are ready for pickup a couple of weeks later.
“We have adults and kids and everything in between,” Cara said. “People can learn how to work with glass and make their own artwork.”
That inclusive approach reflects what “Love Local” means to Cara, especially in a city known for supporting the arts. “One of the reasons why I wanted to settle back in

Charlottesville after living in a lot of other places is the creative community,” she said. “There’s a lot of support for the arts here.”
The Glass Palette also fills a practical gap, offering a hands-on, indoor activity that works for families, visitors, and longtime locals alike. The studio welcomes both Charlottesville residents and travelers passing through, all drawn by the chance to create something personal without a huge time or financial commitment.
Cara’s own artistic path began long before glass entered the picture. She earned a BFA from James Madison University and initially worked primarily as a painter. Glass, however, won her over with its blend of creativity and science. “Glass is amazing--it’s such a creative medium, and there’s a lot of science with it,” she said. “What people get this medium to do is mind-blowing.”
Over the years, the studio has seen thousands of projects pass through its kilns, and Cara has a special place for memories of so many of them. “We are constantly inspired by what our customers

create,” she said. Some pieces are playful, others deeply meaningful, including memorial works made for cremated remains. Helping people bring their ideas to life, she explained, never gets old.
Running a glass studio hasn’t been without challenges. Rising material costs, environmental manufacturing concerns, and surviving the pandemic all tested the business. “It’s a labor of love,” Cara said. “We just love what we do and working with people.”
That love extends well beyond the studio walls. Housed in the Linen on Market building, The Glass Palette is part of a small creative ecosystem, sharing space and connections with fellow makers and businesses such as Firefly, which has catered many events at the studio, along with Malleable Studios and Plenty. Cara also stays
closely connected to Charlottesville’s tight-knit glass community, continuing to learn and grow through ongoing education. At the same time, she’s preparing for a personal creative milestone, designing her third full-size wearable glass dress for the Glass Art Society Fashion Show at the Corning Museum of Glass.
When asked what advice she’d offer aspiring creative business owners, her answer was simple. “Make a lot of connections,” she said. “Other businesses are not your competitors, they’re your friends,” she said. “And, you don’t need to know everything. You can just start.”

SWEETS MEET SIPS
Founded in 2001, Gearharts Fine Chocolates grew from Tim Gearhart’s global culinary journey -- Marine Corps cook to Culinary Institute of America–trained pastry chef. While they can easily be enjoyed on their own, the chocolate creations also pair perfectly with wine and spirits. These are Gearhart's suggestions for how to do it.
WHAT SHOULD PEOPLE UNDERSTAND FIRST ABOUT PAIRING CHOCOLATE WITH BEVERAGES BEFORE THEY START EXPERIMENTING AT HOME?
Good wines and spirits will pair best with quality chocolate as opposed to a cheaper variety. When you’re pairing chocolate with beverages, you want it to be a delicious experience -- invest in the best!
WHAT GENERAL RULES SHOULD GUIDE CHOCOLATE AND WINE PAIRINGS, ESPECIALLY WHEN IT COMES TO SWEETNESS AND ACIDITY?
It’s important to cancel the sugar out as best as possible. Try to match the sweetness profiles of both the chocolate and wine or spirits for a balanced pairing.
Tim Gearhart's guide to pairing chocolate with wine and spirits
ARTICLE BY JENNIFER WALDERA | PHOTOGRAPHY BY JEN FARIELLO
Glass of red wine being poured.
WHICH TYPES OF WINE TEND TO PAIR BEST WITH EACH TYPE OF CHOCOLATE, AND WHY?
Full-bodied wines like a Cabernet Sauvignon or Merlot will match a strong, intense chocolate, while a lighter style of wine, such as Pinot Noir or a sparkling, will complement lighter chocolates. Wines with soft, rounded tannins bring out a smoothness that pairs best with chocolate; too tannic of a wine will emphasize the bitter notes of the cacao and dry out your palate.
WHAT MAKES SPIRITS LIKE BOURBON, RUM, OR WHISKEY SUCH NATURAL PARTNERS FOR CHOCOLATE?
Bourbon, whiskies, and other spirits carry a natural sweetness from the grains that gives balance to the chocolate. We like to pair both milk and dark or semi-sweet chocolate with spirits for a flavor profile that’s indulgent without distracting from the natural elements of the chocolate and spirits.
ARE THERE CERTAIN CHOCOLATE FLAVORS OR FILLINGS THAT PAIR ESPECIALLY WELL WITH AGED OR BARREL-FINISHED SPIRITS?
Some of my favorite spirit and chocolate pairings are included in Gearhart's signature line: milk chocolate and aged Kentucky bourbon infused with fresh mint; toasted coconut and white chocolate ganache spiked with dark rum; and dried apricot soaked in Cognac and wrapped in milk chocolate.
We also have a collection of dark chocolates infused with wines from Barboursville Vineyards, Jefferson Vineyards, and King Family Vineyards -- Virginia reds provide a rich smoothness to dark chocolate!
WHAT’S THE MOST COMMON MISTAKE PEOPLE MAKE WHEN PAIRING CHOCOLATE WITH BEVERAGES?
Too often, people will pair chocolate with a wine or other beverage that is too sweet, and it will dull the notes of the chocolate. Put the Moscato or sweet cocktails aside when pairing with chocolate -- your palate will thank you.
IS THERE AN IDEAL ORDER FOR TASTING CHOCOLATE AND SIPPING A BEVERAGE?
I like to recommend taking a sip of the wine or spirit before tasting the chocolate and then repeating the sip. This way, you can capture all the flavors of chocolate and the beverage for a full culinary experience.

Nestled in Virginia’s Allegheny Highlands, Bath County is the kind of place that invites you to slow your pace, whether that means sinking into mineral-rich springs, wandering forested backroads, meandering through small shops, or lingering over a quiet meal after a day outdoors. Known for its restorative waters and wide-open landscapes, this rural corner of the Commonwealth is a destination that feels both timeless and refreshingly untouched, perfect for travelers craving calm, character, and a little fresh air.
STAY
For visitors looking for a cozy stay in Bath County, Vine Cottage Inn is the ideal destination. Helmed by Dave and Tammy Hahn, this bed and breakfast is steeped in history and offers the opportunity to easily peruse the local shops, as well as travel to the nearby Omni Homestead Resort on foot.
Visitors to Vine Cottage Inn can expect gracious hosts, a warm environment, the most comfortable of beds, and plenty of areas, both inside and out, to enjoy during a stay. A decadent three-course morning breakfast is primarily crafted by Dave and served by Tammy and includes fresh fruit, housemade scones, and a plate of perfectly prepared eggs alongside breakfast meat, as well as sweets like a stack of pancakes or French toast topped with nuts and maple syrup. Settle into a nook by the window or share a table with other guests for the true bed and breakfast experience. After, head out for the day, or leisurely lounge near the fireplace on the first floor or in the sitting room filled with books of all genres on the second floor.
EXPLORE
With the Vine Cottage Inn as a starting point, there’s no shortage of nearby spots to visit. The Omni
Homestead Resort is a few-minute walk from the inn (or visitors can drive and valet) and offers an interesting, informational history tour by incredibly knowledgeable guides that share the background on the property, artwork, and individual spaces, along with enjoyable and often humorous anecdotes that keep the tour fresh. Or, visit the resort and tour the grounds and impressive interior on your own, including shops and a comfortable room replete with comfortable yet upscale seating as well as various games and puzzles. For drinks, stop into the President’s Lounge, which features photos of every president who has visited the Omni, with the potential bonus of having a drink shaken or stirred by Christa Thomas, who won the 2025 Virginia Cocktail Games.
One can’t-miss destination in Bath County is the Warm Springs Pools. Renowned as being rich with minerals, the pools were an attraction to Thomas Jefferson, who used the waters to help heal symptoms of rheumatism in the early 1800s. Now, visitors continue to settle into the calming 98-degree waters fed by a natural spring in the property’s renovated bathhouses in hourlong increments.
For outdoors enthusiasts, the rural landscape offers a variety of options, from guided hikes that depart from the Omni and open up to gorgeous waterfalls to the Dan Ingalls overlook with trails that offer breathtaking views of the Allegheny Mountains. For combining a love of the outdoors with a passion for music, the Garth Newel Music Center is a must. With over 100 acres of property that includes walkable trails, the non-profit is not only home to educational programs and a variety of events and performances, particularly from the resident musicians, its historical buildings also serve as charming lodging. Respected chefs crafting impressive meals from local ingredients round out the experience, as well.
“If fine dining is on the agenda, look no further than the Waterwheel Restaurant. Set in a century-old mill, this restaurant has been in business for over 50 years...”

DINE AND DRINK
For a casual dining experience any day of the week, Milk House Market, a lunch and dinner spot in an old milking house, is the perfect stop. The downstairs offers open seating in an environment that’s equally ideal for a quiet lunch as it is for mingling with locals. Meanwhile, upstairs seating options include a cozy nook that can make for a more intimate meal. Sandwiches, salads, wraps, and more are largely crafted with local or premium proteins and cheeses and for meat-lovers the chef salad or the Herdsman Sandwich (roast beef, horseradish mayo, Swiss cheese, and greens) are top picks. The restaurant also offers nearly a dozen handcrafted pizzas as well as pastas, sides, and appetizers like baconwrapped dates and pimento cheese with pita. And if you’re looking for drinks to take home, there are plenty of coffee options to grab on the go, and the downstairs is adequately stocked with a variety of wines for any palate.
If fine dining is on the agenda, look no further than the Waterwheel Restaurant. Set in a century-old mill, this restaurant has been in business for over 50 years and offers dishes that range from flavorful smoked trout on crostini with horseradish creme fraiche to a curated selection of beef, housemade ravioli, or beautifully plated salmon with greens and fresh fruit. Wine lovers will appreciate the option of exploring the restaurant’s downstairs cellar to choose a bottle for the table, and any diner will enjoy the seating that feels intimate even when the restaurant is bustling.

Music and MUCH MORE
A Memorial Day weekend festival that blends unforgettable music with intention and heart
ARTICLE BY RW SMITH PHOTOGRAPHY BY CONTRIBUTING PHOTOGRAPHERS
Imagine a festival that offers all of the bands, vendors, activities, and comforts you’re hoping for—without the long lines, overpriced drinks, or grimy portojohns that can ruin a weekend.
Imagine a festival that feels warm and genuine, one that’s thoughtfully organized and intentionally sized so your time, access, and enjoyment come first. A festival that’s affordably priced and sustainably growing each year, attracting a loyal, music-loving community that shows up for all the right reasons.
Now stop imagining and start planning your trip to Rooster Walk 16
Nestled in the rolling foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, the 16th annual Rooster Walk Music & Arts Festival returns May 21–24 (Memorial Day weekend) near Martinsville, VA. Over four days, approximately 50 bands representing a wide mix of genres will perform more than 90 sets at Pop’s Farm , a pristine 150-acre outdoor venue located about 2.5 hours from Charlottesville and less than an hour from Roanoke, Danville, Greensboro, and Winston-Salem.
Attending Rooster Walk in any capacity is rewarding, whether as a General Admission guest, performer, volunteer, or vendor. Rooster Walk was even voted Best Music Festival in the 2026 Blue Ridge Outdoors Magazine reader contest . But experiencing the event as a VIP patron offers something truly special. A VIP pass elevates the weekend into a boutique festival experience that’s comfortable, relaxed, and consistently praised by returning guests. And the track record speaks for itself: VIP tickets have sold out in advance for more than a decade straight .
This year’s lineup is stacked from top to bottom. Headlining acts include St. Paul & The Broken Bones , moe ., and Daniel Donato’s Cosmic Country. They’re joined by an outstanding mix

of artists such as Kitchen Dwellers, Keller Williams, Mountain Grass Unit, Eggy, Maggie Rose, Dumpstaphunk, John Brown’s Body, Shadowgrass, Clay Street Unit, Yarn, Holy Roller, Dizgo, Caitlin Krisko & The Broadcast, Tan & Sober Gentlemen , and many more. Rooster Walk also brings back one of its most beloved traditions: the daily performance by the Rooster Walk House Band , a unique collaboration of the festival’s “artists at large.” This year’s lineup includes Josh Shilling (keys), Jeff Sipe (drums), Caitlin Krisko (vocals), Isaac Hadden (guitar), Florencia Rusinol (vocals), Wallace Mullinax (guitar), Sam on
(saxophone), and Jake Dempsey

(bass). Their sets blend improvisation, creativity, and unexpected pairings you won’t hear anywhere else.
For VIP and Full Strut VIP patrons, the festival experience centers around a premium, VIP-only peninsula on the shore of Pop’s Pond. This hospitality area features a full bar, a private stage, free continental breakfast each morning, complimentary family-style meals, late-night snacks, and a daily “Free Pours at 4 pm” Happy Hour. Guests can also enjoy games, activities, and contests throughout the weekend.
Full Strut VIP patrons receive an extra layer of relaxation: exclusive access to Full Strut Island , reachable by bridge. The island’s Tiki Bar serves complimentary drinks, and the staff offers free pontoon boat rides all weekend.
Beyond the VIP area, Rooster Walk’s on-site experience shines just as brightly. Much of the camping sits beneath mature hardwood forests, providing comfortable, shaded spaces. With six stages , a vibrant Children’s Area , and an impressive lineup of food, craft, art, beer, and wine vendors, there’s something to explore at every turn.
The festival offers both multi-day and single-day tickets, and for guests who prefer not to camp, a free shuttle runs continuously to partnering hotels. Children 12 and younger attend free with a paying adult.
Rooster Walk Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to supporting music, arts, and education in Martinsville–Henry County, VA. The festival honors the memory of childhood friends Edwin “the Rooster” Penn and Walker Shank. A portion of all proceeds supports an endowment scholarship for Martinsville High School students and a Band Instrument Program for local public schools. To date, Rooster Walk Inc. has donated more than $375,000 to regional charities.
For tickets, lineup details, and more information, visit RoosterWalk.com .
Beyond Music
Music may anchor the weekend, but Rooster Walk’s setting invites plenty of ways to move, stretch, and explore between sets. Start the morning with guided yoga in the Pine Grove, or lace up your shoes for guided hikes that wind through Pop’s Farm. Wellness opportunities offer a refreshing reset, while disc golf and casual field games keep things playful throughout the day. Or, enjoy quiet moments on the water on pedal boats or a guided fly-fishing tour. It’s all part of the festival’s easygoing rhythm.

VALENTINE’S DAY CHEESECAKE
ARTICLE AND PHOTOGRAPHY BY CASSIE SUPPES
Valentine’s Day is all about showing your loved one just how much you care. Rather than opting for the predictable chocolates and flowers, why not showcase your culinary prowess and create a one-of-a-kind cheesecake? Not only will this delectable treat demonstrate your affection, but it will also add a personal and luxurious touch
to the holiday celebration. Make this Valentine’s Day truly memorable by going above and beyond with a heartfelt, homemade gift. Cheesecake is the perfect dessert for two because it’s both rich and indulgent, but not too heavy. Plus, it can be easily customized to fit your own personal taste and it’s much easier than you think!
TO MAKE THE PERFECT CHEESECAKE, YOU’LL
• 1 pound cream cheese, softened
• 1 cup sugar
• 3 eggs
• 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Start by preheating your oven to 350 degrees. In a large bowl, mix together the cream cheese and sugar until smooth. Beat in the eggs, one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract. Next, add in the sour cream and heavy cream and mix until everything is well combined. Pour the mixture into the prepared graham cracker crust and bake for 45 minutes to 1 hour, or until the cheesecake is set. Let cool completely before serving.
For this recipe, we decided to add berries and honey to the top of our cheesecake. Take the time to make yours special to your relationship. Make things colorful by adding food coloring to the mix, it can even be made in

their favorite color. You can also change things up by making your own crust with Oreos or cinnamon crackers.
To elevate this recipe to the next level, consider using high-quality ingredients such as grass-fed cream cheese and locally sourced honey. For added luxury, try using a blend of different types of berries, or even substituting the graham cracker crust with a crust made of crushed pistachios or hazelnuts.
In addition to adding a variety of toppings, you can also get creative with the presentation. For example, try using a springform pan to create a heart-shaped cheesecake, or using cookie cutters to create fun shapes out of the cheesecake slices. You can also garnish the cheesecake with edible flowers or a sprinkle of edible gold dust for a truly indulgent experience.
