LIFESTYLE LETTER
You're never fully dressed without a smile. Everyone has their own style. Or at least that’s what I keep telling myself while standing in front of my closet like it’s going to answer me back. Every morning starts with the same question: “What am I going to wear?” Seriously. Ask my friend Jen. Honestly, getting dressed can take up 75% of my morning. The struggle is real. I scroll, look for ideas, stare at my closet, cut up a shirt (of course), change my mind, and probably overthink it at least 5,000 times… because apparently, that’s my style. Then I change. And change again. Until suddenly I put something on and think, Yep. This is it. Maybe it’s cheetah. Maybe it’s denim. Maybe it’s lace. Maybe it’s a little outrageous. There are mornings when I actually think, I can’t wait for them to see this outfit, because it’s fun. It’s a little out there. And most importantly, it feels like me. And yes, most of my shopping happens on Amazon because if it doesn’t feel right, it’s going back. Who has time for anything else? For as much as I overthink getting dressed, I’ve realized my style is actually pretty simple. It’s whatever makes me smile. Whatever makes me feel confident and comfortable. Whatever feels like me that day. Apparently, style can give you a creative block too. While putting together this issue, my Creative Director Amanda, aka Pink Poppy Media, and I hit a wall. A whole STYLE issue, and we were completely out of creative ideas. So I did something that is probably more my style than anything else: I connected people. I’ve known Lorie and Theo, the owners of Crystal Communitea Shop, and I knew I had to introduce Amanda to them. Their shop is one of those places where creativity seems to find you. Somewhere between the crystals, teas, conversations, and probably a few things we weren’t planning to buy, the ideas started flowing again. Maybe that’s style too. It’s what catches our eye, the places that inspire us, the people we connect with, and whatever makes us feel a little more like ourselves. If you love it, wear it. If it inspires you, run with it. If it makes you smile, embrace it. And remember… you’re never fully dressed without a smile.

When JW Roth talks about live music, he doesn’t start with business. He starts with a memory. Growing up on a ranch near Larkspur, Colorado, concert tickets weren’t always within reach. “Going to a concert meant climbing a fence to get in,” he recalls with a laugh. Years later, after building a successful career outside the music industry, Roth found himself returning to concerts, but something still felt missing. “I loved the music,” he says, “but I never loved the venues.” That realization became the foundation for VENU, the entertainment and hospitality company Roth founded with a simple goal: design venues around the experience of the fan and the artist instead of asking concerts to fit inside buildings originally built for hockey games or basketball tournaments. Today, that vision is taking shape in Centennial. The Hall at Centennial represents a new chapter for VENU and introduces a concept unlike anything currently found in the Denver metro area. Rather than creating another concert venue, the company is developing a destination where music, dining, hospitality, and community all come together under one roof. “For us, reimagining live entertainment means treating the venue itself as part of the show,” Roth explains. The nearly 2,000-person indoor venue will feature premium dining, hospitality spaces, and one of VENU’s signature innovations: 50 of the Luxe FireSuites® built throughout the venue in cascading tiers. Adjacent to the venue, a full-service restaurant will encourage guests to arrive early, linger after performances, and enjoy the space even when the music isn’t playing. It’s a concept rooted in one of Roth’s favorite places…his own backyard. Some of his best memories were made gathered around a fire pit with family and friends while music played nearby. That feeling inspired him to ask a simple question: Why couldn’t a concert venue recreate that same sense of connection? The answer became the Luxe FireSuite. Unlike traditional luxury boxes, the suites are designed to feel more like an extension of someone’s home than a private seating area. Owners enjoy a dedicated space to entertain family, friends, or clients while becoming part of a community of fellow music lovers. “It’s not just about having a great seat,” Roth says. “It’s about creating a place people are proud to own and excited to return to.” That vision resonated with Colorado investor Jason Pickerill, who purchased FireSuites in both Colorado Springs and Centennial. “What initially caught my attention?” Pickerill says. “Who doesn’t love live music and fire?” While the investment opportunity intrigued him, it quickly became about much more than potential returns. “I originally thought I’d sell most of my tickets,” he explains. “Instead, I found myself using them. It’s introduced me to new people, expanded my social circle, and even broadened my taste in music. Some of my favorite nights this year happened because I had a seat waiting for me.” For Pickerill, the appeal extends beyond the concerts themselves. He believes Centennial is uniquely positioned to become home to one of Colorado’s most talked-about entertainment destinations. “Denver already has so much going for it,” he says. “This gives Centennial something truly unique. People are going to come here because they want to experience something they can’t find anywhere else.” That sense of place is central to Roth’s philosophy. Although VENU continues expanding across the country, each project begins by listening to the surrounding community rather than applying a one-sizefits-all approach. “Centennial has a strong business community, excellent schools, and a growing population,” Roth says. “But it hasn’t had a premium entertainment destination to call its own.” His goal is for The Hall at Centennial to become more than a concert venue. Between performances, he envisions the space hosting corporate gatherings, private celebrations, community festivals, movie nights, and civic events. Outdoor terraces, lounge areas, and the neighboring restaurant are all intended to encourage people to gather, whether or not there’s a headline act on stage. “The venue should become part of everyday life,” Roth says. “Not just somewhere people visit a few nights each year.” Of course, bringing a project of this scale to life hasn’t come without challenges. “The biggest challenge is always expectations,” Roth admits. “The reward is watching that first crowd walk in and realize it’s even better than they imagined.” As construction continues, that’s exactly the reaction he hopes guests will have from the moment they step inside. “I want people to feel immersed immediately,” he says. “I want them thinking about when they can come back before they’ve even left.” For Roth, that feeling captures what VENU has always been about—not simply building places to watch performances, but creating destinations where memorable experiences unfold long before the lights dim and continue long after the encore. After all, as he puts it, “Music is the ultimate unifier.” And with The Hall at Centennial, VENU hopes to give Colorado a new place to come together.

STR ESS-FR EE MOR NINGS Solving the mystery of how to wake up peacefully with a well-designed closet.
Mariah Fox Photography
“Your home is your sanctuary. Everybody deserves to live in a clean, organized, stress-free space.” Rachelle Barrios is the owner of Kitchen Wise | Closet Wise Denver, and her words reflect the company’s number one mission. From kitchens to bathrooms to closets, she builds organizational spaces for any budget, and she knows better than anyone that a clean closet leads to a clearer mind.
“We make 35,000 decisions a day, and what we pull from our closet should not be something that adds to our stress,” says Rachelle. Rachelle creates stress-free spaces by tailoring closets to each individual’s needs, whether that’s building room for shoes, hats, ties, or even the client’s height. The closet of a retired couple will look different from the closet of a young renter, and her team accommodates those differences.

If you’re looking for everyday advice, Rachelle’s top closet tip is to sort your clothes based on her six-month, three-week system. The first step is evaluating each item you haven’t worn in a while. “If it's been more than six months that you haven't worn it,” Rachelle says, “ask yourself, does this still fit me? Am I still in this season of my life where I need this?” If you’re unsure, she recommends moving it to the front of your closet, and “If you don't wear it for another 3 weeks, you don't need it.” Decluttering your closet revives forgotten favorites while giving the opportunity to donate what you no longer need. According to Rachelle, all clothes deserve to be worn. The number one comment Rachelle gets from her clients is, “I wish I would’ve done this sooner.” Every item in your closet is the result of money you invested. As Rachelle says, “You deserve for it to be in a beautiful space.”

Diamonds. A little black dress. Confidence. Three things that never go out of style, and it’s confidence that Damy Anderson and her team at State Farm focus on building within the Centennial community each and every day. “Before I ever considered being an insurance agent, I thought I might want to be a teacher. However, I had a college professor warn me that if my goal were to help everyone and save the world, I would probably end up burning out,” Damy says with a laugh. “So, I ended up interviewing with a State Farm agent out of college while I was looking for jobs, and within 30 days of working there, I realized: I get to teach every day, I get to help people every day, and it was the same rewarding experience that teaching kids would have provided.” Damy knew she had found her calling. After working for over a decade with a few different agents and at the State Farm corporate office, Damy was presented with the opportunity to own her own agency in 2013. Six years later, she took over her second State Farm location in Aurora.
“I now have eleven amazing women who work for me. They are all fully licensed, and they work so hard for our clients,” Damy explains. “I think the idea most people have about insurance agencies is that agents work nine to five and then go home. But my team does insurance differently. We’re always available, and we want to get to know every one of our clients on a personal level because it helps us suggest the right coverage and financial services.” Damy’s main goal is for her clients to understand the options they have available, so that when they make decisions, they can do so with the confidence that they are choosing the products that are right for them. Damy can recall countless examples where the education she and her team provided made all the difference for her clients when it came time to make an insurance claim. “I have a client who came to me when her husband’s health was failing. She needed help understanding their retirement plan, CONTINUED >

and she wasn’t familiar with what the bulk of their insurance covered,” she recalls. As it turned out, this client didn’t have enough insurance to cover what she and her husband owned, so Damy helped her find the right coverage that would offer her the peace of mind she needed going forward. After her husband’s passing, Damy’s client ended up in a car accident. “All the updates we made to her policy and all the planning we did protected her when she needed it most.” In addition to helping clients one-on-one, Damy and her team have also built a reputation for community involvement. By getting to know their clients on a personal level, the team

often learns about events and charitable causes, which they are eager to support in a variety of ways. “We sponsor schools and sports teams, the Chalk Art Festival, and Centennial Under the Stars. We partner with real estate agents and with various foundations. Heroes with Paws is a cause near and dear to a client’s heart, so we were eager to be able to support the charity once she told us about it,” Damy says. Through charitable support, lasting connections, and meaningful education, Damy has achieved her dream of helping others. Every day, Damy and her State Farm team ensure that their clients are able to live their lives with a confidence that will never go out of style.

A BREATH OF FRESH HAIR
ARTICLE BY JEMMA TAYLOR | PHOTOGRAPHY BY PINK POPPY MEDIA
We all want to take care of ourselves. A good haircut leaves you feeling light and refreshed, and what elevates that further is a haircut that leaves you healthier. Over 2 decades ago, hairdresser Indre Holliday was working at a packed salon in Boston, the kind where a dozen stylists worked side-by-side every day. Everything from hair spray to ammonia mingled in the air on a daily basis, and after a time, Indre started noticing frequent dizzy spells and trouble breathing. She wondered if the chemicals in the air were to blame. So she dove into research.
30
M UST SE E | BEAUTY
What Indre discovered worried her. Many of the chemicals used in the average salon can irritate people with sensitivities. While haircuts themselves are perfectly safe, chemical color services often expose stylists and clients to those ingredients throughout the day, especially in busy multi-stylist salons. After she had deep-dived into the effects of chemical-based salons, Indre found herself at a turning point. Recollecting that moment, she says, “Either I had to move away from doing hair color and just do haircuts, or I had to find something that was going to be a lot healthier for my clients and me.” Indre didn’t want to sacrifice her passion for hair care, and she didn’t want her clients to dye their hair somewhere just as toxic. So she moved to Colorado and started Royal Salon Organic Care, a place dedicated to healthy, organic hair care. “We use as many certified organic ingredients as possible to make the salon healthier, breathable,” Indre explains. This approach extends out to all of their hair services. Royal Salon offers haircuts, hair color, gray retouches, hair loss treatment, styling, scalp treatment, and more, all while minimizing exposure to harsh chemicals. The salon is known for its scalp treatments. The process begins with scalp analysis, looking at the head on a microscopic level to identify concerns from the root up. That might include excess oil, clogged follicles, mineral buildup or other conditions affecting the health of the scalp and hair. From there, the stylist recommends next steps tailored to the individual’s results. “A month or two later, we'll look at their scalp again, and it is glorious,” says Indre. Many of her clients struggle with health issues, allergies, and other sensitivities, so reaching the point of a healthy scalp can be a complete breakthrough moment. But it can be invigorating for every person, regardless of their health––everyone just wants to look and feel good. Throughout her twenty years of hair care, Indre’s biggest hope has been to educate the community. She wants people to “be more aware of what they're putting on their skin, on their scalp, on their hair, and that there are options.” She advises that everyone read ingredient lists, try at-home treatments, and when in doubt, do their own research. At the end of the day, Royal Salon Organic Care blossomed from Indre’s motto “a breath of fresh hair.” Indre creates an experience of healthy, revitalizing care that doesn’t take the client’s breath away.
“But it can be invigorating for every person, regardless of their health–. Everyone just wants to look and feel good.”
