The holidays turn our kitchens into the real gathering place of the home. Recipes are shared, coffee is poured, and somehow everyone ends up around the island. With all the cooking, hosting, and memory-making ahead, now is the perfect time to look around and ask:
“Is my kitchen really working for me? ”
If so, Cabinet IQ can help you create a space you’ll love walking into every day. With a curated selection of new cabinets, countertops, styles, and layouts, we guide you toward a beautiful , functional design that elevates your entire home.

Here are a few quick things to notice as you prep for the season:
Chips, stains, or dull spots showing up under holiday lighting? New countertops can instantly brighten, refresh, and modernize your kitchen
Running out of room when cooking or plating? If you’re constantly moving trays, appliances, or ingredients around, it may be time to rethink or completely redesign your layout.
Cabinets
Outdated finishes? Limited storage? Doors that no longer align with your style? New cabinets can dramatically transform the look, feel, and flow of your entire kitchen.
Full transparency, last Christmas almost broke me. I know what it feels like to struggle, to wonder how you’ll make it work, and to rely on someone else when you’d rather stand on your own. It’s never easy to ask for help. For me, it was humbling. At the time, I was embarrassed to admit that I couldn’t do it all. But in those moments, I realized that asking for help isn’t failure, it’s what allows people to show up for you.

That experience changed how I see giving. That experience changed everything for me. Giving isn’t about what’s in your hands... it’s about what’s in your heart. Sometimes it’s showing up, sometimes it’s just letting someone know they’re not alone. The REAL impact.
We’re celebrating Giving and the season through stories that embody that same spirit: the Centennial Rotary Club’s Santa Clothes Project, which I first learned about from my friend Rad — a man whose heart seems to know no limits when it comes to serving others. True to Rotary’s spirit, he never wanted the spotlight, only to make sure the focus stayed on the children and the mission. Christian Brothers Automotive, and owner Chris Longo, remind us that kindness can live inside a business model, serving families who just need a little hope to keep moving forward. And the National Sports Center for the Disabled holds a special place for me as a mom of a son with autism; I know the challenges of finding inclusive opportunities where every child can belong, and their work gives families like mine real hope.
And if you have not heard...This fall, Centennial City Lifestyle was recognized nationally as Magazine of the Month for October, with Danielle VonFeldt named National Editor of the Month . Selected from more than 260 publications, this honor celebrates creative storytelling and the kind of community partnerships that make all of this possible. It’s proof that when we lead with purpose and surround ourselves with people who care, extraordinary things happen.
From the girl who once struggled to the woman grateful for this community. Thank you for showing me that giving and grace go hand in hand.
Wishing you a season filled with connection, compassion, and joy.

NSCD’S MISSION TO MAKE THE OUTDOORS ACCESSIBLE TO ALL
ARTICLE BY VALERIE BIANCULLI
For 55 years, the National Sports Center for the Disabled (NSCD) has been breaking barriers to the outdoors. “We were actually the first adaptive sports organization in the country,” says Elyse Lombardi, NSCD’s Development and Marketing Director. “It all started at Winter Park Resort here in Colorado, and now we offer 17 year-round programs from adaptive skiing and mountain biking to horseback riding and kayaking.”
PHOTOGRAPHY BY PETE LARSON — READY FIRE DIGITAL
“THE OUTDOORS SHOULD BE ACCESSIBLE FOR EVERYONE.”
The organization serves more than 2,000 participants annually, providing specialized instruction and state-ofthe-art adaptive equipment. “We work with people of all ages and all disabilities—physical, cognitive, developmental, behavioral,” Lombardi explains. “The outdoors should be accessible for everyone.”
That mission shines each spring when hundreds gather for Ski for NSCD, a community event held at Winter Park Resort. “It’s a day of fun and connection on the slopes,” Lombardi says. “Anyone can join— no matter your skill level. You register for $50, raise at least $150 from friends, family, or colleagues, then spend the day on March

28 skiing, competing, and celebrating for a cause.” Attendees enjoy free Winter Park Resort lift tickets, mountain challenges, scavenger hunts, costume contests, giveaways from The North Face, and an après-ski celebration, all while raising critical funds for NSCD’s programs. “It’s an unforgettable day,” she adds. “There’s so much laughter, camaraderie, and purpose, it really captures what our mission is all about.”
Every dollar goes directly toward areas like purchasing and maintaining adaptive equipment, training instructors, and providing scholarships for their participants. “One adaptive mountain bike can cost $20,000,” Lombardi explains. “Donations

from our community keep our program costs low. And if someone can’t afford to participate, that’s never a barrier. These funds make it possible for everyone to experience the joy of the outdoors.”
For Lombardi, the impact is personal. “I remember being on the mountain with one of our participants who was trying adaptive skiing. It was his first time back out after losing his leg in an accident,” she says. “When he reached the bottom of the slope, he had the biggest smile and tears in his eyes. Moments like that remind you how this work changes lives.”
Registration for Ski for NSCD is officially open at nscd.org/events .

How Christian Brothers Automotive is Changing Lives One Repair at a Time
ARTICLE BY VALERIE BIANCULLI
At Christian Brothers Automotive, kindness runs as deep as the motor oil in the shop bays. For owner Chris Longo, service is more than fixing cars, it’s about restoring hope. “We’re obviously a business like any other,” Longo says, “but we’re very aware that we have a mission... to support people in our

community, to meet them where they are, and to use the gifts we’ve been blessed with to serve others.”
Each October, that mission takes center stage during the company’s National Day of Service, when shops across the country open their doors, not for profit, but for people in need. “We’re normally closed on weekends,” Longo explains. “But on that Saturday, our entire staff volunteers their time. We open the shop, invite families in, and do free repairs all day long.”
This year, Longo’s team served nearly 80 families, providing close to $60,000 in free repairs in just six hours. “Every car gets an oil change and safety inspection,” he says. “If we find anything unsafe — brakes, tires, suspension, we fix it at no cost. Our vendors even pitch in with parts and supplies.”
The shop transforms into something more like a neighborhood block party than a repair bay. “We’ve got food, drinks, a bounce house for the kids, giveaways, prayer sessions, even care packages for people living in their cars,” Longo says. “It’s humbling to see how much it means to folks.”
But the experience impacts the staff just as deeply. “There’s a lot of emotion that day,” he says. “You’ll see grown men in the back of the shop crying because of the difference they’ve made. It reminds us why we’re here.”
Longo describes hearing stories from widows, single parents, and families who’ve lost jobs or homes. “Auto repair can be a barrier,” he explains. “If you can’t afford it, things get worse. Your car becomes CONTINUED >

unsafe or undrivable. For many people, transportation is survival... it’s how they get to work, take kids to school, or find a fresh start.”
That sense of compassion extends beyond one day a year. Longo’s shop frequently donates cars, often vehicles gifted by customers who no longer need them. “We’ll repair them, donate the parts, and our technicians volunteer their time,” he says. “Then we work with local churches and community groups to find someone who truly needs it.” The team even prays together before deciding which recipient to bless with a vehicle. “Once we give the car away, we maintain it for a year. The goal is simple: we don’t want them worrying about transportation while they get back on their feet.”
One of Longo’s favorite memories involves a young mother who had her first child as a teenager. “She’d been taking the bus for two years to get to work,” he recalls. “She was working two jobs and doing everything she could to provide for her son. We gave her a minivan, and she said, ‘Now I can take him to the park. I can bring his bike. We can do normal things again.’ Something so small to us completely changed her life.”
It’s moments like these that keep Longo grounded. “We’re humbled that we even have the opportunity to do this,” he says. “We don’t do it for recognition or publicity, we do it because it’s the right thing. If someone reads this and thinks, ‘Maybe there’s a way I can give back, too,’ then that’s what matters.”
Through their actions, Longo and his team show that faith and service are not separate from business, they’re at the heart of it. “Everyone who walks through our doors is carrying something we can’t see,” he reflects. “If we can meet them with kindness, listen to their story, and help in any way we can, even if it’s just fixing a car, then we’ve done what we’re called to do.”
For Christian Brothers Automotive, compassion is the ultimate tune-up, one that keeps the community running strong.

Each December, the Centennial Rotary Club brings the spirit of giving to life through one of its most cherished traditions, the Santa Clothes project. This annual event pairs volunteers with children from local organizations such as Hope Ignites and CASA, taking them on a shopping spree for new clothing and essentials. For many of these kids, it’s the first time they’ve ever chosen something brand new for themselves. For the Rotarians, it’s a reminder of why they serve.
CENTENNIAL ROTARY CLUB’S SANTA CLOTHES PROJECT TURNS HOLIDAY GIVING INTO LASTING HOPE FOR CHILDREN WHO NEED IT MOST
ARTICLE BY DANIELLE VONFELDT

Founded in 2001, the Centennial Rotary Club began the same year the City of Centennial was incorporated. It started with nineteen charter members, including the city’s first mayor, Randy Pye. Today, five of those founding members remain active, continuing the club’s mission of service, integrity, and community leadership. Guided by Rotary International’s seven focus areas, from education and health to peace and sustainability, the Centennial club supports both local and global efforts, balancing compassion with action.
The motto “Service Above Self” is more than a phrase for its members; it’s a way of life. Stories circulate among them of everyday kindness, like keeping “blessing bags” in their cars for those in need, or traveling across borders to help build homes for families they’ve never met. Each act, no matter how small, carries the same purpose: to make the world better for someone else.
To fund projects like Santa Clothes, the Rotary Club hosts five main fundraising events each year, raising nearly $50,000 through the Centennial Rotary Foundation. These include the Mayor’s State of Our City luncheon each May, beverage booths at Centennial Under the Stars and Sip in Centennial, the popular Palisade Peach & Pear Sale, and a new annual Pickleball Tournament launched in 2025. Every dollar earned goes back into programs that strengthen the community, whether through youth support, education, or global outreach.
The Santa Clothes tradition itself began nearly two decades ago when member Diane Zing learned about it from a fellow Rotarian in Las Vegas. Inspired, she and the Centennial club brought the project home, and it quickly became a signature service event. Over time, more Rotary clubs across the district joined in, expanding the effort to serve over one hundred children each year.
On shopping day, volunteers and children gather at Kohl’s Department Store, where the generosity begins before the doors even open. Kohl’s graciously opens early at 6:45 a.m., brings in additional staff to assist, and stacks every available discount to stretch each dollar as far as possible. Their partnership ensures that the $130 to $140 allotted per child goes much further, allowing kids to select more clothing and essentials than they ever imagined. Rotarians then help guide them through the aisles, encouraging choices that reflect both need and joy.
For many children, the idea of choosing something for themselves feels foreign. Volunteers often describe the hesitation, the quiet disbelief, as they gently encourage each child to pick something they truly want. As the morning goes on, that hesitation turns to joy. “It’s both heartbreaking and heartwarming,” one volunteer shared. “Heartbreaking to realize how new this experience is for them, but heartwarming to see the transformation, their pride and confidence shining through.”
Among the many memories, one story continues to stand out. Years ago, after shopping for more than sixty children, a volunteer discovered her wallet was missing. Hours later, it was found, returned by a young boy and his social worker, who had found it in a shopping cart. The boy didn’t stay to give his name, only saying he had to hurry because “Santa had a special surprise waiting for him.” That surprise was the Rotary event itself. The same boy who found the wallet was one of the children they had shopped for that morning.
Each year, the impact of Santa Clothes ripples far beyond the store aisles. Children walk away not just with new clothes but with a renewed sense of self-worth. Volunteers leave humbled and inspired, reminded that giving time and attention can change a life.
Looking ahead, the Centennial Rotary Club hopes to grow the event even further by inviting local businesses and sponsors to join the cause. With more funding and volunteers, they can serve more children, reaching deeper into communities across the region, from Castle Rock to Northern Colorado and beyond.
For the Centennial Rotary Club, Santa Clothes is more than a holiday tradition. It’s a reflection of who they are, a group of people united by service, generosity, and the belief that even the smallest acts of kindness can spark something extraordinary.

The Centennial Rotary Club meets weekly to plan service projects, build connections, and strengthen the community. Chartered in 2001, the club supports local and international efforts that align with Rotary’s seven areas of focus, including education, health, and economic development. New members, sponsors, and volunteers are always welcome. Whether you have a few hours or a full season to give, your time and talent make a difference.
