Built to Shine

From day one, I’ve led this magazine with connection at the center. Building relationships, discovering new businesses and helping them truly plug into the community. Not just advertise. Belong.

Community doesn’t just happen. It’s built intentionally. You have to know the people. You have to know what’s happening. And you have to care enough to show up.

As we continue to grow and deepen our impact, that mindset remains the same... creating a space where local businesses, leaders and residents invest in one another.

Last year, when this monthly theme, Investment came up... I was immediately bored. How could my birthday month, the month of Diamonds, be investment? But this year, it clicked.

Investment isn’t just financial.

It’s consistency.

It’s trust

It’s letting someone tell your story

It’s believing that being visible in your own community matters.

Every month, our partners invest in Centennial City Lifestyle because they believe in staying rooted locally. And when you support them, you’re investing right back into the place we all call home.

This issue hit differently for me. Cassandra, our new managing editor, has a way of unlocking my creativity, she’s my muse. We started brainstorming partners who reflect investment in real life: Anna Burr creating legacy. Jovan Barrington helping families build wealth. Veronica Mata showcasing SPARK and supporting businesses right here in Centennial. Bill Garlutzo bringing value and esteem to unique, rare and vintage jewelry.

Then we stepped into our first photo shoot together, and seeing it all unfold shifted something.

Watching our photographer  Amanda from Pink Poppy Media capture Bill from Andrew’s Jewelry brought the theme to life. Investment looked like legacy. Like creativity. Like collaboration. Yes... even diamonds and gold . But more than that, it looked like alignment. People who care showing up and building something meaningful together.

That’s real investment.

Centennial City Lifestyle exists because this community continues to invest in us, in each other and in something stronger than any one business alone.

And that’s something worth building on.

CRUSH YOUR GOALS IN 2026

SPARK CENTENNIAL INVESTS IN YOU AS A SMALL BUSINESS OWNER

SPARK Centennial is a free six-month program created to empower small businesses, bring resources to their goals and connect them with a strong network of other business owners and resource partners in the city of Centennial. Veronica Mata, Economic Development Specialist for the City of Centennial shares the heart behind this innovative program. She shares, “The idea with SPARK has always been to help businesses get more exposure. We find it is a way that they can get to know each other as business owners in Centennial and then just create more memorable customer experiences. We

have really unique businesses here in Centennial and we’ve had this program going for six years. It’s changing every year, always with the goal to help our small businesses in our city.”

To apply for the program, all you need is to be a licensed business and have the ability to commit 20 hours between April to September to be an involved participant. Once businesses apply and are accepted, Veronica creates a curriculum based on their needs. She asks the question, “What’s one project you’ve wanted to work on for your business, but you haven’t due to time, budget or resource constraints? Once we answer that question, we figure out what project fits into that.”

What follows is an interactive and engaging program that gets the projects rolling. From touring facilities to customer enhancement projects, round tables or chats similar to TED talks or hosting an event, Veronica works oneon-one with business owners and also organizes events to create authentic connection between businesses.

“It's one-on-one time with me, getting to develop that project and execute that project that they select, and then it’s attending what I’m calling SPARK support events. Once a month, we’ll have support events. That’s another opportunity for the businesses to connect with resource partners,” she explains.

Their resource partners range from The Colorado Small Business Development, Arapahoe Libraries and Arapahoe Douglas Workforce, just to name a few.

She adds, “We’re here to help you set up something that’s going to have longevity beyond the six month program. We want to make sure we’re building something for your future here.”

Alumni to SPARK Centennial can attest to this as they continue to participate in different ways each year to build the community and facilitate support within the program.

Here are just five alumni businesses that return as pillars to connect and provide support each year with SPARK Centennial.

The Village Workspace: Centennial's premiere work, wellness and event center located in the heart of the city.

PostNet Centennial: Your one stop shop for printing, packaging supplies, graphic design, shipping and more!

INVESTING with INTENTION

Planning Your Legacy with Thrivent

In an industry often defined by numbers and net worth, Jovan Barrington of Thrivent takes a different approach. For him, money is not the goal, it’s a tool.

“I help people plan, build, manage and protect their wealth,” Jovan says. “And ultimately, transfer that wealth to the next generation.” The work, he explains, goes far beyond portfolios and performance. “When we talk about money, we talk about what it’s meant to do in your life. It’s a tool, not the finish line.”

As a member-owned, purpose-driven organization, Thrivent operates without shareholders. That structure shapes Jovan's relational philosophy.  “I’m not a salesman with products. I’m an advisor with ideas,” he says. “I’m a coach. My clients gain financial confidence and begin to see the impact they can have on the people and communities they care about.”

For Jovan, the word “invest” reaches beyond the markets. “Investing isn’t just about stocks and bonds,” he explains. “It’s about your assets, your time and your taxes. It’s being intentional in all three areas.” He encourages clients to think long term — not only about retirement, but about the experiences they hope to share. “Every person’s goal is travel,” he says. “And usually it’s traveling with someone. Investing gives you options to share experiences. Financial success alone can still leave you wanting.”

In addition to his work in financial services, Jovan has served as a pastor for 23 years, 10 of those at Littleton Church. It’s a role that continues

to shape his approach today. “Money conversations are rarely just about money,” he says. “They’re about fear, responsibility, trust. They’re about life transitions — marriage, children, job loss, even grief.”

His first meetings are intentionally low pressure. “We talk very little about money,” he says. “It’s trust-building.” He often asks clients, “What’s your first memory with money?” The answers, he notes, reveal more than spreadsheets could.

Transparency is another cornerstone. “I’m very clear about how people can do business with me and how I get paid,” he says. “When both parties understand the relationship, it builds trust.”

A significant part of Jovan's practice includes working with small business owners. “Entrepreneurs pour everything into their business, and that’s a real strength,” he says. “But it can also become a blind spot.” His role, he explains, is to help create structure. “When there’s a clear plan in place, it removes the guilt and the guesswork,” he says. “It gives business owners confidence about how to support their company while building stability for themselves and their families.”

If he could encourage readers to invest in one thing this year, it would be simple: “Invest in planning. When everything is organized in one place, it reduces anxiety and builds confidence.”

At home, Jovan's world revolves around his wife, Ana of 20 years, their three daughters and Scruffy, the family’s rescue dog. “I’m a family person,” he says. “Everything I do is grounded in that.”

“Investing isn’t just about markets. It’s about your time, your values and the legacy you leave behind.”

At Thrivent, we offer advice, investments, insurance, banking and generosity programs to help you focus on the people, causes and community you care about.

THE FINEST RECOMMENDATION

THE TRUE REMARK OF A GOOD INVESTMENT FOUND IN ESTATE JEWELRY, VINTAGE FINDS AND GOLD AT ANDREWS JEWELERS

ARTICLE BY CASSANDRA GREEN | PHOTOGRAPHY BY PINK POPPY MEDIA

Located on the Streets at SouthGlenn Andrews Jewelers specializes in custom jewelry and jewelry repair. Within each glass showcase, you’ll find unique, rare and vintage jewelry. Owner Bill Garlutzo is a Certified Gemologist who graduated from the Gemological Institute of America. He gave us some insight on what and where to invest when it comes to fine jewelry and precious metals.

He clarifies that between gold and silver, gold is the true investment right now. He emphasizes “The main thing we’d like to invest in is estate jewelry and gold.”

In fact, you can take your jewelry, gemstones, precious metals and vintage finds to Andrews Jewelers so Bill and his team can assess their value and offer a price. His store is a treasure trove of beautiful antique, vintage pieces and precious stones.

Bill’s array of knowledge and expertise gives you confidence when sharing your own pieces or buying new ones.

He provides details about estate jewelry. “When it comes to estate jewelry you avoid the retail markup, can rely on it holding or increasing in value and can’t deny a superior craftsmanship that is unique and in essence, timeless.”

“Meanwhile, with gold prices near historic highs, this may be an ideal time to consider selling and locking in strong returns. The current strength in the gold market gives sellers a valuable opportunity to capitalize on elevated pricing. If you've been thinking about turning unused or unwanted gold into cash, now could be the perfect time to take advantage of today's strong market."

Redefining MVP: TIM TEBOW’S LIFE BEYOND FOOTBALL

An exclusive Q&A with City Lifestyle

PHOTOGRAPHY PROVIDED

From championship trophies to global humanitarian impact, Tim Tebow’s journey has defied every standard playbook. In an exclusive conversation for the Share the Lifestyle podcast, Tebow pulls back the curtain on the moments that truly defined him, from a humbling middle school church retreat to the life-altering shift of fatherhood. This isn’t just a look back at a career; it’s an invitation into the heart of a man driven by purpose. Read the highlights below, then join us for the full, unfiltered experience by scanning the QR code at the end.

Q: WE ALL KNOW YOUR ACCOMPLISHMENTS ON THE FOOTBALL FIELD, BUT TELL US ABOUT THE CURL CONTEST.

A: I was competing for my future high school team (my brother’s team), and I pushed myself way past what was smart. I ended up collapsing and needing medical attention. But what stayed with me wasn’t the pain, it was the lesson. Would I be willing to do something that others aren’t? For much of my life, I strived to bring my best for a game, but I hope that I can say at the end of my life I was willing to do that for things that actually matter.

Q: YOU’VE ACHIEVED SO MUCH IN SPORTS. WHAT WOULD YOU SAY IS YOUR GREATEST ACCOMPLISHMENT NOW?

A: Becoming a dad. Nothing compares. From the moment I knew my wife was pregnant, I felt a new depth of love for our child, but when you bring your baby home, the responsibility hits you like nothing else. Suddenly, everything you see, every decision you make, you’re asking, “Is this corner too sharp? What happens if she reaches that drawer?” It changes how you see the world and how you see other people.

Q: YOU’VE SPOKEN OPENLY ABOUT DISAPPOINTMENT, ESPECIALLY AROUND FOOTBALL. HOW DID THAT SEASON OF LIFE SHAPE YOU?

A: I talked a lot about that very thing in my book Shaken . We all go through moments where our faith in our abilities and purpose feels rattled, but I believe it’s often in those storms when God can show us who we could become.

Q: YOU TALK A LOT ABOUT COMPARISON CULTURE. WHY DO YOU BELIEVE COMPARISON HAS BECOME SUCH A TRAP TODAY?

A: Because we’re comparing our real, everyday lives to someone else’s highlight reel. Social media shows people’s “best day,” often filtered and staged, and then we measure our reality against that. There’s a reason filters are so popular—it’s not real. We end up scrolling through images that don’t tell the full story, and without realizing it, comparison starts to steal our joy and our gratitude.

“We’re comparing our real, everyday lives to someone else’s highlight reel... comparison starts to steal our joy.”

Q: YOUR FOUNDATION FOCUSES ON THE “MOST VULNERABLE.” WHERE DID THAT CALLING BEGIN?

A: When I was 15, I met a boy in the Philippines who was treated as a throwaway because he was born with physical differences. That moment changed me. I realized God was calling me to pursue a different kind of MVP, not “Most Valuable Player,” but “Most Vulnerable People.”

Q: FINALLY, WHAT’S ONE THING PEOPLE MIGHT BE SURPRISED TO KNOW ABOUT YOU?

A: I have some weird coffee habits, which include protein powder, collagen, and cream all mixed together. I love golf dates with my wife. And every night, I bring snacks to bed to share with our dogs. It brings me more joy than it probably should.

This conversation barely scratches the surface. Tim goes deeper into the moments that rattled him, the joys of fatherhood, and one story he has never shared publicly until now. Scan the QR code for the full, exclusive City Lifestyle interview on Share the Lifestyle Podcast.

PLANNING WITH PURPOSE

As part of our April Invest Issue, we sat down with Anna Burr, founder of Burr Law, to talk about estate planning, protecting what matters most and how she invests in her own life beyond the office.

HOW WOULD YOU DEFINE ESTATE PLANNING AND WHY IS IT SUCH AN IMPORTANT INVESTMENT?

“Estate planning is investing in both yourself and in your future for your family. It’s about creating protections to make sure that all of the legal requirements are set to have decision-makers for the end of a person’s life. And then also to provide ease, instruction and support for your family after you’re gone.”

MANY PEOPLE ASSUME ESTATE PLANNING IS ONLY FOR THE ULTRA-WEALTHY. WHO TRULY NEEDS A PLAN?

“Everybody has an estate,” she says plainly. “Some estates are larger than others, but everybody has one. If you have people you care about and assets that you are interested in directing where they go, then you need an estate plan.”

WHAT ESSENTIAL DOCUMENTS SHOULD EVERY ADULT HAVE IN PLACE?

“There are four foundational documents that everybody should have,” Burr explains. “A will, a financial power of attorney, a medical power of attorney and an advanced directive.”

“The advanced directive is the document that expresses how long you would want to be kept on life support if you’re terminal or in a persistent vegetative state.” These four documents provide base-level legal protections for every adult.

WHAT HAPPENS EMOTIONALLY AND FINANCIALLY WHEN FAMILIES DON’T HAVE A PLAN?

“There’s a lot of uncertainty,” she says. “When we’re needing to use these documents, it’s because their owner is unable to communicate their wishes. So already, emotions are running high.”

“All anybody wants is to do right by that person,” Burr explains. “But if they don’t have any kind of prior communication, it can create bigger emotions, more conflict and end up costing families a lot more money.”

BEYOND FINANCIAL ASSETS, WHAT ELSE SHOULD PEOPLE CONSIDER?

“Estate planning is less about your assets and more about your people,” Burr says. “It’s about investing in that family and making sure they are protected.” That includes appointing the right decision-makers and clearly expressing your wishes.

HOW DO YOU APPROACH CLIENTS WHO FEEL OVERWHELMED?

“I tell people they don’t have to have all of the answers sorted out before they come in,” she says. “Part of my job is to help with that.”

CONTINUED >

The process begins with simple questions: “Who are your people? What are your assets? What are the things that worry you?” From there, she builds a plan tailored to each family’s goals.

WHAT DO YOU FIND MOST MEANINGFUL ABOUT YOUR WORK?

“I really love the people I work with,” she says. “I like hearing their stories. I like hearing

“ESTATE PLANNING IS LESS ABOUT YOUR ASSETS AND MORE ABOUT YOUR PEOPLE. IT’S ABOUT INVESTING IN THAT FAMILY AND MAKING SURE THEY ARE PROTECTED. THAT INCLUDES APPOINTING THE RIGHT DECISION-MAKERS AND CLEARLY EXPRESSING YOUR WISHES."

about their families.” She also enjoys the strategic aspect of assembling the right tools into a thoughtful plan.

Her passion is personal. After her grandfather passed away, Burr navigated probate firsthand. “It was a lot more difficult than I expected,” she recalls. “If I can be somebody to walk with people through this journey, then I would like to be that person.”

OUTSIDE OF YOUR PRACTICE, HOW DO YOU INVEST IN YOUR OWN LIFE?

“I have a husband and two girls, and they’re getting older,” she says. “I try to spend as much time with them as possible.” They enjoy traveling, exploring the mountains and going to the theater together.

IF YOU COULD GIVE READERS ONE PIECE OF ADVICE?

“To talk to somebody about getting a plan done,” Burr says. “It doesn’t always have to be complicated. But right now is the best time to do it.”

And in the meantime: “Appreciate the people that you love. Spend time with them. Let them know that they’re important to you.”

FOUR SIMPLE WAYS TO INVEST IN YOUR MORNING AND START YOUR DAY OFF ON THE RIGHT FOOT

habits morning for success

One of the best ways to invest in yourself is by creating a consistent and intentional morning routine. No matter how unpredictable or chaotic the rest of your day may become, starting your morning with self-care and purpose sets a positive tone that stays with you throughout the day.  Once you develop a morning routine that truly resonates with you, you’ll look forward to it every night, knowing it will set the foundation for a productive and fulfilling day.

If you’re ready to elevate your mornings, here are some meaningful ways to invest in your routine and start each day on the right foot.

Be Your Own Barista:

One of life’s simplest pleasures is savoring a homemade coffee each morning. While skipping the drivethru may be tough at first, brewing your own allows you to appreciate the process—and chances are, you’ll end up preferring your own perfect cup of joe.

Get Your Steps In:

An hour-long gym session before work may not be realistic, but a quick morning walk is. Use this time to clear your mind, enjoy nature, and listen to your favorite podcast or artist—an easy way to start your day feeling relaxed.

Enjoy Some Breakfast:

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, yet often the most overlooked. Setting your alarm just minutes earlier to prepare a fresh, nutritious meal can transform your morning, fueling your body and mind for a more energized and productive day.

Read A Book:

Starting your day with a book is far more calming than scrolling through social media. Reading in the morning helps ease you into the day, providing a peaceful and mindful escape that sets a positive, focused tone for what’s ahead.

Get great service & great rates.

We are always here with Good Neighbor service, but I’m also here with surprisingly great rates for everyone. Call me for a quote to see how much you can save. You might be surprised and even gain better protection than you currently have!
