FOOD + BEVERAGE I SCREAM FOR ICE CREAM!
AUTO + MARINE LAKE LIFE MADE SIMPLE
SPORTS + RECREATION FANTASTIC FIREWORKS

We must leave room for exploring, for trying new places and things, for being a beginner, even for getting lost. It is those times that are unstructured and open-ended where the space exists for connections to be made, friendships to be fostered and trust to be built.
Every summer, our family heads to our log cabin in Colorado. There we "unplug", hike mountain trails, eat our lunches by a stream, read books on the deck, and just spend time reconnecting with each other and nature. It is our favorite time of the year.

As my children have grown older, I've noticed that "adventures" and “exploration” doesn't even have to be something big and crazy and definitely doesn't have to be in the Rocky Mountains. It can be playing a family board game around the kitchen table, walking a new trail in the community or going out to find a fun hot spot we've never been to before.
Cool down at our local lakes, Lake Texoma or Lake Lewisville, with Freedom Boat Club or explore Three Ultra Unique Getaways For Families in our Explore Summer issue! Take in an evening with Celina's Bluegrass Band and grab an ice cream from a local sweet spot. We hope to see you out trying one of our new downtown hot spots or shopping fresh summer styles from Apricot Lane Boutique.
Our hope is that this issue encourages you to make room for exploration. To prioritize time away from the regular schedule of life. To lose yourself on a trail or in a book. To book that trip you’ve been thinking about, to make time for the things that matter most to you, but often come last on the calendar.
As always, thank you for reading and we'll see you around town. Happy Trails, friends!

Blue grass…mention it around here and some will quickly relate it to Kentucky basketball and whether Coach Cal can get to March Madness again next year, or the Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs on the first Saturday in May, or Keeneland race track in Lexington.
For others of us, the words blue and grass come together as bluegrass and always mean music. Not just any music, mind you, but the genre which was birthed out of Kentucky and Tennessee and Appalachia in the 1940s, perhaps named after Bill Monroe and his Bluegrass Boys Band. Noteworthy among that band were names you’ll recognize like Lester Flatt and Earl Scruggs. The band was named for the blue grass of Monroe’s home state of Kentucky, and the moniker stuck to their brand of music.
Bluegrass music melds elements of old time mountain music with square dances, fiddling, blues, gospel, and jazz.
Around here, bluegrass, the sweet sound of strings and voices emanating from the Ralph O’Dell Senior Center on the 1st, 3rd, and 5th Thursday evenings of each month from 6PM-9PM is a delightful step back in time. You will hear the acoustic string sounds of guitars, banjos, fiddles, stand up bass, mandolins, harmonica and occasionally a dobro being played at the jam sessions. Players come from as far away as Arlington, Lewisville, Sherman, Denton, Greenville, and even Oklahoma to the biweekly monthly jams. It is common for these bluegrass jams to attract anywhere from 10-20 players with one or more circles (6-10 players =
a circle). There are no requirements other than it must be acoustic instruments, and all participants are welcome to jam.
The jam was started in Gunter by Danny Logan at Preston Trails Farm. It moved to the Celina square when the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers [ASCAP] would not let them play where food was being sold without paying music fees. About that time, Dick Smith, Division Fire Chief of the Celina Fire Department, began helping with the jam. It was initially a moving road show - first to the Celina square, to Founders Park, to the Celina Senior Center on the square, and finally to the Ralph O’Dell Senior Center. The senior centers were great choices because inclement weather was no longer a factor. Check it out on Facebook @CelinaTXBluegrassJam
In a bluegrass jam, members go around the circle taking turns leading their choice of song. The song leader will choose individuals (usually going around the circle) to take an instrumental “break” on the verse or chorus. The person taking the break will play the melody while the other musicians provide accompaniment. When the tune is familiar, everyone joins in to sing the chorus and provide harmonies. Attend one of these jam sessions and you will get hooked.
Bluegrass music has a strong presence in North Texas. Dick Smith is in a band called The Foggy Memory Boys. Southwest Bluegrass Club, which meets in Grapevine at First Baptist Church ( 184 E. Wall Street) the 2nd Saturday each month, may have as many as 7 circles of 6-10 jammers playing. A well-attended jam occurs on the 4th Saturday in Van Alstyne, and a bluegrass gospel jam has started in Aubrey meeting on the 3rd Saturday of each month. There are many jams in the DFW area, but it is nice Celina has its own.
Grab your favorite comfort food and come early. It is a memorable experience. You will hear this diverse group play and sing folk tunes and gospel songs. It’s a free fun evening with like-minded folks.
Y’all come now, ya hear!

THE HOPKINS EXPLORE ALL 50 STATES

Meet Andy and Debbie Hopkins, local inspiration, city volunteers, small business owners (The UPS Store Celina), and now seasoned travelers. With a couple's goal to visit all 50 states, they are finishing up their United States tour this summer. The Hopkins even found time to venture overseas and share their travel journal with us.
TELL US ABOUT YOUR FIRST TRIP TOGETHER.
We didn’t know when we met that we would become so passionate about traveling together. In 2003, we took our first trip to the college football national championship in Tempe, AZ. It was Debbie’s first in-person college football game ever. Underdog, Ohio State, beat the University of Miami in double overtime. (She’s a crazed Buckeye fan now!)
WHAT LANDMARK WAS YOUR FAVORITE?
Picking favorites from our travels is really hard. We like to be open to what a place has to offer and we always find something special wherever we are. We did love the windmills in The Netherlands. They are so cool. Centuries old, but their genius design to move flood waters out to make land habitable blew our minds. Neuschwanstein Castle in Bavaria was breathtaking. King Ludwig wanted a fairytale castle and used up the country’s money to do it. It looks like it should be a thousand years old but, in reality, it was being built about the same time as Ulysses S. Grant was the US President.
WHICH STATE DO YOU THINK IS THE FRIENDLIEST?
The people of Lincoln, Nebraska were incredibly welcoming. If you can believe it, we were there for an Ohio State game against the Cornhuskers.

Everyone we met wanted to make sure we were happy, comfortable and knew where to go eat or drink. They were just the most gracious hosts. Internationally, Italy has been the most welcoming place we’ve visited so far.
IF YOU COULD ONLY RECOMMEND ONE PLACE THAT IS A “MUST VISIT”, WHAT WOULD IT BE?
In the States, there are so many musts. High on the list is New England in the Fall. We traveled through Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine during the changing of the leaves, and mixed in some lighthouses as we enjoyed lobster at pretty much every meal. Traveling internationally is so exciting and educational. So many “musts!”. The scenery in Germany, food in Italy, and endless landmarks in London should be on everyone’s list.
TELL US ABOUT ONE OF YOUR FAVORITE TRAVEL MEMORIES.
There are so many. We try to be very intentional about immersing ourselves in whatever locale we happen to be visiting, making valuable memories at every stop. However, last year we were joined by twelve other couples on a river cruise down the Rhine from Amsterdam to Basel, Switzerland. It was an amazing trip. Castles and churches galore with a great group of friends was incredible.
ANY FUNNY TRAVEL STORIES?
We were driving from Venice to Florence and chose to go through the countryside in hopes of meeting locals and getting a feel of the real culture of Italy. We found little villages and hamlets one after the other, but we did not see any people. It was like the towns were abandoned. It actually got a little creepy, like a "body snatcher" situation. We figured that because it was hot in

the summer, everyone must be taking a siesta. We finally found a gas station with a little deli. No one spoke english, so we pointed at sandwiches on the menu. The young lady would answer "prosciutto and cheese" regardless of the picture at which we pointed. Something that looked like a hotdog, “prosciutto and cheese.” Something similar to a mozzarella and tomato sandwich, “prosciutto and cheese.” We chose prosciutto and cheese. We were also met with stares from the older gentlemen in the diner area, as we clearly were outsiders. They eventually gave us some smiles, as we ate and left.
This year we will mark off our 50th state. We think it’s really cool that we’ve been able to visit all the US states together. We are looking forward to finishing this really cool map with Alaska, coinciding with our 20th wedding anniversary. We love to travel, not just because it is fun, but because it offers new experiences, exciting adventures, and the chance to explore different cultures and landscapes. We love the educational experience too. Getting exposed to diverse perspectives, historical sites, and unique traditions broadens our understanding of the world. We think travel creates valuable memories by providing moments of joy, personal growth, and shared experiences with loved ones, which you can cherish for a lifetime.

“Great mentors give wise guidance.” - Lailah Gifty Akita
Ruth Ann Robbins gives wise guidance to realtors in the Keller Williams North Country real estate office. With specialties in luxury listings and buyers, as well as new construction, Ruth Ann is positioned to service clients and mentor new agents.
Ruth Ann's professional journey is adorned with numerous industry accolades, each a testament to her exceptional skills. She was recognized by D Magazine in 2022, 2023, and 2024, and was honored with the Dallas Real Estate Top 3%, Multi-Million Dollar Producer, and Wealth Builder Award. However, the award that genuinely resonates with her is the Keller Williams Culture Icon Award, a symbol of her dedication to shaping and mentoring agents for success.
Ruth Ann started her career in education. She worked as an educator for many years before moving to the University of North Texas (UNT), where she remained for eight years. While at UNT, she started working in real estate part-time. She calls it her “cars and college money” helping to put her two kids through school. It is said that teachers and nurses make good realtors because they need to be intuitive listeners and communicate clearly. Her cup is filled when she teaches, leading her to the education leader opportunity with Keller Williams.
Each month, Ruth Ann will host a mentoring event where she invites her partners in business and agents from her office to meet and network. Her partners include lenders, insurance agents, home inspectors, title company representatives, a stager, and a handyman. Agents must have trusted partners ready to successfully meet their clients' needs. Ruth Ann also invites her transaction coordinator to help answer questions about the "contract to close" process and her marketing expert to help new agents learn how to market themselves on social media. Through these events, Ruth Ann has grown
her mentee group from three agents to more than twenty.
Ruth Ann's connection to Texas runs deep. Her first move to Texas was twenty-five years ago, residing in Keller and Grapevine. The family moved back to Mississippi and returned back to Texas after 13 years. She shares how she followed the Dallas North Tollway as far as it would take her, eventually purchasing a lot in Mustang Lakes before its development. Her decision to build shows her foresight and understanding of the local market. This "Highway 380 leap" decision is a testament to her real estate knowledge, as she recognized early the trend of buyers moving north from Dallas, Plano, Frisco, Allen, and McKinney as well as the out-of-state migration of families to the area.
It is not hard to feel a solid connection to the Celina and Prosper area. Ruth Ann, like many people, shares how she loves that there are still fields with longhorn cattle grazing, farmers harvesting, and traffic jams caused by tractors moving from one field to another. Small, locally owned businesses are thriving; people know each other and encourage each other's success. Winding and wandering farm to market roads still make up many of the roadways in the area and make finding just the right locations a great adventure. It is always a selling feature to mention the thriving public schools to home buyers. In fact, both of her now adult children graduated from Prosper High School. Plus, the Celina Square is the ideal place to experience the small-town feel she moved north to capture.
Faith is a big part of Ruth Ann’s life. While sharing how God has carried her through tough times, she asks God to keep “top of mind, divine appointments.” As she journals daily in her 26th volume, she can see how her faith and God's presence in her life have changed her, molded her business, and defined her character. God has always provided clients when she needed them and worked continually in amazing ways.

Ruth Ann is high-energy and enjoys being outside and active. She plays tennis three to four times a week, plays pickleball, and walks with her two dogs, Callie and Jennie. But her passion remains mentoring and training people to succeed in their own businesses. In real estate, you are self-employed, and the time it takes to build a business that pays you regularly can be both scary and hard. Ruth Ann transitioned to real estate full-time when she became a single mom, working to provide for herself and her family. Her life experiences allow her to have a solid “I’ve been there” story to share with agents seeking to learn from her.
Good mentors have mentors themselves; Ruth Ann has a mentor relationship with fellow Keller Williams agent, Shelly Hermon. In the past twenty-five years, Shelly has relocated across the country seven times and has experienced the challenges of finding the right community and getting her family plugged in. She understands the relocation process, whether coming from out of state or moving across the metroplex. Her real estate career has been based on customer service and respect. She has shared that experience with Ruth Ann and encouraged her as she has grown her own business.
There is no silver bullet in the real estate business. Agents must learn to be their best advocates. Ruth Ann wants to mentor and train agents who are driven and willing to do hard work but also compassionate and caring.

Tucked around the corner once you first enter Gunter on 289 from Celina, the Serene Farms storefront has been open since the beginning of May. When you come in, you are greeted by the soothing scent of oils diffusing in the corner, and a mural on the wall: “Saved by Plants.” Serene Farms, a plantbased wellness product company, was founded by current Gunter resident, Erica Valker, in 2017 and is now owned by her and her husband Paul. Like many impactful companies, this brand was born from a powerful story.
“Our brand was formed out of a need for plant medicine,” Erica says. “We were living in California; I became very ill with late-stage Lyme Disease.”
From 2011 through 2016, Erica struggled with a laundry list of health issues, including pain, seizures, heart/vascular issues, inflammation, gut issues, nausea, sleep deprivation, light sensitivity, anxiety, and more. Bed-ridden and desperate, the first line of defense was pharmaceuticals, which proved themselves to be the problem rather than the solution.
“Pharma drugs were doing nothing to heal me and were only making me sicker,” Erica says. “My husband, and caretaker, was buying cannabis products from dispensaries in LA and San Francisco but they weren’t lab tested, had no dosing directions, and were filled with chemicals and had other allergens that I could not handle.”
After years of this battle, it wasn’t until a San Diego doctor recommended a one-to-one tincture that her health journey finally began to look up. A regiment of cannabis-based products and plant-based essential oils helped Erica to get control of her symptoms, and ultimately helped to save her life.
“After that struggle, we started to form this brand, and I knew that this is what I wanted to do: I wanted to create clean products with cannabis.”
And that is exactly what she did. Now, Serene Farms operates out of Gunter selling a variety of organic products that promote wellness, but also give back. To carry out their mission of helping others find wellness through cannabinoids, $3 of every tincture purchase goes to support Children with Lyme Disease through the LymeLight Foundation of California.
The Valkers’ intentionality permeates through their brand, not only in their giving, but also in their name. Settling on the name “Serene Farms” came with its own purposeful aim.
“The big thing was that all of the other CBD and cannabis brands are very male-focused, and we felt like a lot of products were intimidating,” Erica says. “We really wanted to have something that was de-stigmatized, and clean and airy, and just has a lightness behind it that we really weren’t seeing out there.”
Now that their storefront is open, the vision has come full circle, and the opportunity to interact with the community their products are impacting has been nothing less than fruitful.
“Being online for a while, it’s just so nice to have a storefront in our hometown where we’ve been able to chat with customers and really listen to them and their struggles. Providing the things that they need help with, in their everyday life, and to be able to offer a product that can help them live a healthier life with less pain or anxiety,” Erica says. “It’s why we’re here, and it makes our hearts so happy.”

I love Celina! Just ask my family, friends and clients and they will tell you how much I love Celina. I fell in love in 2003 and got here as fast as I could, as the saying goes. I love that I get to sell Celina not just as a real estate broker but as a proud citizen, neighbor, and friend. It is an exciting time to be in Celina! There are so many amazing neighborhoods and more on the way. I’m so grateful that I get to help my clients stake their claim in Celina and call it home!

Introducing Glenwood Springs...
“The greatest legacy we can leave our children is happy memories.”
Happy memories await in Glenwood Springs, Colorado. Known for its hot springs, the Rocky Mountain resort city is rich with wildlife and sheer beauty. Offering an array of family-friendly activities, the area is home to the esteemed Glenwood Springs Adventure Park, a must-do with amusement rides and subterranean caverns—a magical geological excursion.
Surely, you’ll want to take a dip in the world’s largest mineral hot springs pool. Invigorating and rejuvenating for adults and super fun for kids, there’s a vast splash zone, water slide, diving board, and lap lanes.
Glenwood Springs is primed with pristine river spots; the white water is mild and ideal for guided rafting adventures. You can also rent duckies (inflatable kayaks) or paddleboards.
If you’re going to check one hike off your list, opt for the Doc Holliday memorial, and for older kids, explore mountain biking paths for every skill on the paved Rio Grande Trail. In addition, Bair Ranch, located in Glenwood Canyon, offers several activities like horseback riding, ATV & Jeep tours, and sport clay shooting.
Family accommodations include Hotel Glenwood Springs, located at the Glenwood Gondola base that goes to Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park. The property also flaunts a small indoor water facility. Introducing Snow Mountain Ranch...
“Never underestimate the importance of having fun.”
Consider Snow Mountain Ranch a fun hub for families; a camp-like atmosphere for those seeking a genuine back-tothe-basics escape. Located in Grand Country Colorado, the YMCA of the Rockies destination is what vacation is meant to be... packed with frivolous play. Awake to breathtaking mountain views and the sound of songbirds, and after an actionpacked day, witness a dreamy sunset from your personal porch.

Included in all stays: roller skating, swimming, mini-golf, sports, hiking/biking trails, nature walks, and more. But
what makes Snow Mountain extra special are the entertaining “extras.” To make the most out of your stay, partake in archery, axe throwing, horseback riding, arts/crafting, knot-tying, geocaching, and beyond. Plus, there are tons of educational programs that teach guests about local wildlife like bears and wolves. And here’s a tip; if you’re craving some adult-only time, choose to register your child (ages 3+) for summer day camp. Grown-ups can do some adventuring of their own while the kids get a taste of what summer’s supposed to be. And as for food, there’s an array of on-site dining options available.
Everyone will feel like a kid at Snow Mountain Ranch, and the secret’s out; cabins book far in advance, so be sure to secure your spot well ahead of time.

Our local neighborhoods are the heart of Celina. Andy “Hop” Hopkins, owner of The UPS Store, is highlighting one of many of Celina’s finest communities on a monthly basis.

LOCATION: Located in southern Celina near the intersection of FM 428 and the Dallas Parkway, Greenway is conveniently placed near hospitals, schools, shopping, and parks with easy access to all that area has to offer.
OVERVIEW: Greenway offers residents upscale homes and amenities at lower cost than adjacent communities because it’s not located in a MUD or PID. Family-friendly amenities including an impressive swimming pool, playgrounds, and plenty of greenspace and common areas. Resident Jason Laumer remarks, “It’s a beautiful community, truly Life Connected. Friendly people playing and meeting each other all the time.”
EVENTS: As is common with many communities, Greenway hosts an active Facebook page to help neighbors meet and interact. This June, the community hosted a large event to celebrate the start of summer. And being only minutes from downtown Celina and Old Celina Park, large community events are at resident’s fingertips.
OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES: With paved trails located at the center of the community and branching outward, families can enjoy walking, jogging, and biking together. The central trail is part of the broader Celina Easement Spine Trail and will connect up with the Greenbelt Spine Trail, both of which are part of the City of Celina’s Master Trail plan.
SPECIAL HIGHLIGHTS: Greenway boasts a unique Hammock Garden where residents can enjoy a peaceful escape from the daily grind. The greenspaces in the community are a perfect backdrop for everyday living and offer a unique location to enjoy Celina’s vibrant sunsets.
From our doorstep to yours, the UPS Store Celina with Andy Hopkins is connecting neighbors. We are looking forward to meeting you in Greenway.

First Baptist Celina Leads Annual Mission Trip To Mexico
“One year we worked with the city and painted various parks and community centers.”
I began taking groups to Acuna, Mexico, in March of 2003 while pastoring Pleasant Glade Baptist Church in Colleyville, Texas. When I became Pastor of First Baptist Celina [FBC] in May 2011, I began to plan the first trip for FBC Celina. The first group from First Baptist Celina went over Spring Break in March of 2012 and consisted of 25 people. Since that time, FBC Celina has ventured down to Acuna, Mexico every Spring Break for a total of 12 years. The only year we missed was in 2021 because of ongoing Covid restrictions.
We’ve always done some sort of construction project as a part of these trips with some community ministry as well. Most of the time we help churches that are in need of a building to gather for worship. However, we have also built a children’s building and a kitchen that was used by the church to cook meals for people in their area. One year we worked with the city and painted various parks and community centers.

one another. Several years ago, she began working for the city of Acuna, and the Lord opened a door for us to partner with the city of Acuna as a part of our trips. We still continued the construction projects, but also added in community service projects while partnering with the city. Members of our church go to the community centers around Acuna where our ladies do manicures and pedicures for ladies; some women cut hair, while others help run a children’s ministry. Through interpreters, our ladies are able to build some relationships, share the love of Jesus, and pray with people. We also distribute clothes, diapers, and snacks for people. We have been so blessed to partner with the city of Acuna all these years. Because of our partnership, FBC has been able to build some

really good friendships with city personnel. Even as mayors have changed, God continues to give us an open door to work with them because they know our heart is to help the people of Acuna. If my numbers are correct, we have built eight churches during our time.
Each year in December, we meet Rosie in Mexico, and she has a list of pastors for us to meet. We go down there with an open heart and ask God to guide our hearts to the project that He wants us to do. Our planning team usually consists of myself, Mike Lohmann, Aaron Walrath, and Kelly Juergens. Our groups usually vary in size but most years average about 50. The largest group we’ve

ever taken was about 90 people. God always puts together the team and the numbers are always exactly what we need.
Our desire at First Baptist Celina is to live life with a missionary mentality. For me, one of the blessings is the number of people that have gone on these trips and have developed a heart for missions. We’ve had former students that became involved in other mission work as adults because of this mission trip. It is heart transformational. Texas is no stranger to hail storms, but it’s a rarity in New York. Despite twenty plus years’ experience in the automotive business, a freak hail storm in New York introduced Jessie Cintron to hail damage repair. After adding this to his skill set, he and his business partners decided to educate people all over the world on hail damage repair.
After traveling the world, in 2018, Jessie Cintron, Joey Castaneda, and Jose Andino, “The Triple J’s”, decided to relocate to Texas. Celina to be exact. They aspired to be the pioneers of paintless dent removal (PDR) and hail damage repair, consequently opening PDRTX in Celina. At the time, there were no other businesses in the area with these specialties.
The group has been in the PDR business for almost twenty years. They come from various automotive backgrounds servicing fleet vehicles and auto dealerships, owning their own shop during that time. Like many from New York, the group relocated to Texas choosing Celina because they knew it was a prime growth location for customers. More importantly, they loved the communities of Celina and Prosper realizing it would be a good place to raise their families.
PDRTX has served the people of North Texas for over six years. Jessie Cintron believes it is their quality that makes a difference. “We lead with quality,” he says. “We come from the automotive side. We go the extra mile, like how we work with insurance companies to get claims approved quickly but still focusing on quality,” Jessie continued. He believes it is the reason people will drive from Sherman or over an hour from South Dallas for their service.
When it comes to hail damage, Jessie always advises customers to fix their car. He understands you don’t want the insurance aggravation, but suppose the last storm caused $8,000 in damage reducing the value of your car. Expect your car to get hit again with more hail, a likely scenario in Texas. The insurance company could total your vehicle at that point, creating a greater burden than the original damage.
The adage, “You get what you pay for” is true with hail damage. PDRTX informs customers of their best economic options whether that’s saving a deductible or working with the insurance company to write a good claim, the right way. “Our brand is professional, cutting-edge, and 5-Star, not some fly-by off the street,” states Jessie. He continues, “We are family-oriented and trustworthy. We live here and want our customers to be happy. We don’t cut corners.”
In addition to paintless dent removal, PDRTX opened a secondary shop that provides Paint Protection Film (PPF). PPF is a layer of film protecting a car from harmful ultraviolet rays. PPF self-heals the paint from the sun or scratches from a car wash, while defending the paint from rock chips due to construction. PPF can make “stealth” changes too, such as swapping paint from shiny to matte. Finally, PPF creates a ceramic coating making the paint look new, plus it’s hydrophobic causing water to fall right off the paint.
PDRTX opened the supplementary shop because most damaged cars need it. Keeping jobs in house avoids subcontracting the service and allows controlling the quality of work. “We do our own body work and paint, ensuring our work is completed in a timely manner with excellent service,” Jessie explains. Customer service is a top priority as exhibited via the sophisticated showroom providing great WIFI and espresso coffee, or with their readily available loaner cars. They’ll even bring the loaner directly to you anywhere within 1½ hours from Celina! As a bonus, PDRTX fully details your car upon finished service. It is important to note that PDRTX does more than paint dent repair, hail damage repair, and paint protection film. Jessie notes, “Anything car related we can do. We do headlight restoration, headlight tint, and minor door dings.” He notes most minor dings or dents can be fixed while you wait without paint. Lastly, PDRTX replaces a very common problem in a growing community like Celina, cracked windshield and auto glass repair.
As mentioned, PDRTX uses modern, cutting-edge technology to service cars.

Electric vehicle (EV) owners, PDRTX is the place for you! Most likely, the shop has repaired the most Teslas and other EV’s in the DFW area due to the hybrid certification. The shop understands how to power down the voltage on the cars plus work around high voltage cables. They also have two charging stations and will service any EV car like Rivian, not just Teslas.
The owners of PDRTX are proud to be a part of the Celina, Prosper, and North Texas communities. Jessie Cintron and his partners may be from New York, but they genuinely love the people. “There are so many great people with great hospitality in this community. We are happy to help educate on how to handle hail damage and provide other services,” Jessie asserts. “Like us, there are many transplants who have never been hit with hail nor know what to do about it. We love Texas. We have the same beliefs and lifestyle. ‘The Triple J’s' have family, including twelve kids between us, that live in the same neighborhood and go to the same church,” he exclaims. “This is our home.”
PDRTX may not be from Texas, but they got here as fast as they could. All to our benefit and gain. Visit the PDRTX showroom today.

ARTICLE BY ROGER IRELAND | PHOTOGRAPHY COURTESY OF FREEDOM BOAT CLUB

With summer here and the mercury rising, there is no better way to beat the heat than a trip to the lake. Freedom Boat Club of North Texas has made enjoying the lake hassle-free while remaining cost-effective. As owner Sue Wallace explained, “It is lake life made simple.” All you need to do is reserve the boat on an easy to use website and show up. The dock team greets you and helps you onto the boat and that’s that – you’re on the water! The convenience of the club means you can go to a soccer game in the morning, wakeboard or go tubing in the afternoon, and be home for dinner.
With more than thirty boats to choose from including Sea Rays, center consoles, deck boats, surf boats, and Tri-Toons, you’re not constrained to a single lake experience. And given locations on Lake Lewisville and Lake Texoma in addition to over 400 other locations across the nation and the world, the possibilities are literally endless. Freedom Boat Club members can indulge in yearround boating and all the fun and joy it has to offer without the burdensome tasks of cleaning and maintenance or the recurring costs of insurance and repair that come with ownership.
While offering tremendous benefits and reach, Freedom Boat Club of North Texas is also a locally owned and operated business. Shortly after starting the boat club, Sue’s son Chris joined to oversee operations and sales and her husband John joined to manage fleet sales. Together, they get to share their passion for lake life with the region. Six years ago, when considering retiring from the corporate world, Sue was looking for other business opportunities. A colleague who was a club member in Florida introduced the idea. Having grown up boating, the notion of doing something she loved and sharing that with the broader community just made sense.
Sharing fun on the water with family and friends is what it’s all about. While Sue notes that members often love taking clients out on the boat rather than another boring lunch meeting, it really is a respite from the hustle and bustle of the daily grind. A trip to the lake offers families an opportunity to disconnect from the wired world and reconnect with each other. As Sue recalled from her own experience, “I loved to see the smile on kids' faces as they were tubing or getting up on a wakeboard or skis for the first time. It’s also fun to see the amazement of kids watching their parents do the same thing.”
One of the best advantages of a boat club is the opportunity to enjoy different lakes with absolutely no hassle or effort. Lake Lewisville is an oasis in the middle of the urban sprawl that offers lots of family friendly parks and excellent water for skiing and wakeboarding. Lake Texoma is much larger with more beaches and hiking/camping opportunities as well as being renowned for striper fishing. Both have excellent restaurants and bars that you can enjoy before or after you take a day on the water. Chris recommends The Point and Parlor at Grandpappy Point, Schooners, The Island Bar and Grill, Pelicans Landing, or the Lake House at Alberta Creek on Lake Texoma. On Lake Lewisville, Rockin’ S at Hidden Cove or the recently reopened Charlies at Pier 121, home pier to the boat club.
In the end, Freedom Boat Club is all about making waves of fun and excitement! Comprehensive training programs not only ensure safety but also foster confidence and expertise among members, enabling them to navigate and enjoy the water with ease with their friends and family. Boating is about being part of a larger community as well. Building on their existing calendar of events such as fishing seminars and outings as well as the Women's boating group that gathers for fun outings on the water together, the club plans to deliver a full social calendar that is jam-packed with events tailor-made for mingling and making connections with other boaters.
To become a member at either Lake Texoma or Lake Lewisville, contact Sid Laub at 903419-2339 or sid.laub@freedomboatclub.com
