Four Generations of Style My mom was always known as a classy dresser. I don’t know if it came from her personal style or the era she grew up in, but when she walked into a room, she brought in an air of elegance, class, charm, poise, and style with her. All heads were turned; much the way movie stars like Marilyn Monroe and Mae West drew attention simply by stepping in front of a camera. My sister calls me prissy. I think it’s because I remind her of our mom. I see this same air of sassiness, or “style,” in my daughter and my granddaughter. But it’s not prissy, not sassy, not arrogant… it’s confidence! We are simply using what God gave us. We see ourselves as kind, lighthearted, sweet people who smile a lot and enjoy being around others who are fun-loving and outgoing too! And this outward image of confidence and strength is seen through four generations. Today’s styles are different and, nonetheless, noteworthy. At Sugar Shaker Bakery, desserts are edible art. From elegant tiers to playful creations, their custom treats celebrate your one-of-a-kind story. “We like to focus on the styles of our patrons,” says owner Rada Sam. “We can create anything your mind could imagine—a princess castle, a 3D sculpture of your dog, or maybe you want a cake to look like a piece of avocado toast. We can do it all!” One of Sugar Shaker’s most unforgettable cakes was for two teachers who fell for one another over Harry Potter and Batman. They wanted a cake as unique as their love—half Hufflepuff magic featuring a badger and Golden Snitch, half Gotham skyline complete with the BatSignal. As it was rolled in, they both burst into tears. Another impactful moment came when a couple requested a groom’s cake of the groom bursting from a shark’s mouth, honoring his real-life shark attack survival. Sugar Shaker didn’t hesitate. They turned the wild idea into a masterpiece, blending the epic experience with wedding day chic. “Sometimes, a cake is just cake. But sometimes, it’s a symbol of making it through the impossible—together,” says Sam.
