Show some love to our city! When my sister was born, she was the first of our family to be a true Cedar Park native. But has that stopped me from considering myself to be the same? Absolutely not. (Apologies to my relatives in Louisiana for speaking my truth!) My family moved to Texas when I was just three years old, meaning the vast majority of my memories are tied here. I grew up going to book fairs at the Cedar Park Public Library, bringing Build-A-Bears to life at Lakeline Mall, and spending time at our neighborhood park. I attended schools in Leander ISD where I met lifelong friends and teachers who truly made an impact on me. I volunteered at many local events with numerous organizations to do my part to uplift our community, whether it be with animals or people. At the end of it all, one statement rings true… Cedar Park will forever be my heart’s home. We live in a place that has so much soul, so much personality, so much love. When you walk through the door of a local store, you aren’t just a customer, but a neighbor who is offering your support. As you celebrate the owner’s creativity and spirit, you become a contributor to their story—a story that we want to share here at Cedar Park City Lifestyle. Through our Love Local Issue, we had the opportunity to chat with several residents about their roles within our community. At Truluck’s, while enjoying live music from local performers, you get to delight in the ocean’s finest seafood. That includes first-class options like South African lobster tails and prime king crab legs, as well as their seasonal Florida stone crab available in all sizes until May. There is so much behind the scenes that goes into their culinary excellence. For the Arboretum location, it’s all about joining forces with those who seek the magic. That magic begins right from when their team of generational professionals source their ingredients, with a promise to never serve endangered, overfished species. “Our business model itself is one of sustainability. Any time you can bring something good to your business that isn’t necessarily about the bottom line is very motivating,” says Operating Partner Riley Hutton. “The biggest thing is to continue to find people that care. All concepts are really good on paper, but it depends on the people you choose to execute that concept.” Although the North Austin landscape continues to see significant changes, Truluck’s maintains its steady presence. There are members of the Arboretum crew who have been with the restaurant for over two decades. One of their most tenured cooks put his kids

through college and has been able to work alongside them. “The culture here is extremely inviting. We have people who come in here to eat just to see the people that work here,” says Executive Chef Daniel Gregan. “I didn’t even think twice about coming on board at Truluck’s. There have been a lot of opportunities for me here and I’m very grateful. This restaurant is my second home and I spend so much time with the guys in the back that they are like my second family.” As a privately held restaurant group, Truluck’s is beholden to its customers and staff rather than investors. For that reason, they have a commitment to sharing in special moments and spreading joy day after day. “I was a guest of Truluck’s long before I worked here. This was my place to come for Valentine’s Day, four years in a row, and my girlfriend and I looked forward to every time we came here,” says General Manager Michael Tobias. “I’ve had three people who have come in for their anniversary that have also gotten proposed to or married at Truluck’s. We get to be involved in some of the best occasions that happen in people’s lives.” Given its status as a high-end trendsetter that doesn’t shy away from adventure, Truluck’s

TIMELESS glamour Upon getting her first job as a lash stylist, Jamie Lynn Bear realized just how well the career path aligned with her personality. As someone who is meticulous, detail-oriented, and loves getting to know people, doing lashes provides her with the stimulation she needs. “I got really good really quickly and built up a solid, reliable clientele,” says Bear. “I was booked out three months ahead of time, especially around Christmas, doing twelve to fourteen clients a day. As a career photographer, Myke Toman began Toman Imagery (alongside his wife, Lara Toman) with a vision to create a very special and dynamic commercial photography brand. The pair, originally from Houston, met in 2006 and discovered that they shared a deep love for the lens. They married in 2008, and their shared visual talents and working chemistry easily seemed to be the perfect match. Already degreed in commercial photography, Myke had a keen and developed knack for capturing commercial and corporate images. Meanwhile, Lara was a seasoned publisher’s creative, writer, and portrait artist. They embarked on the adventure of a lifetime as life and business partners. Collectively, they have since operated a full-service studio for 17 years as a thriving commercial marketing photo company. Myke enjoys the production aspect of creating indelible imagery for their clients. Lara handles PM/PR and logistics, while Myke wields the camera for their commercial and corporate projects across greater Texas.
