What’s Your Style?

Hello everyone,

We hope this letter finds you in high spirits and full of creative energy.

Today, we want to take a moment to celebrate and explore the fascinating world of style. Style is not limited to the clothes we wear or the way we adorn ourselves; it encompasses every aspect of our lives. From the way we decorate our homes to the music we listen to, from the books we read to the way we carry ourselves in conversations, style permeates every facet of our existence. It is the thread that weaves together the tapestry of our lives.

Style is deeply personal. We spent many years traveling to shows and events in the apparel and shoe industries and have known so many great people that weaved their own style with the fashion of the time. Style is a form of self-expression that communicates who we are, how we perceive the world and what we value. In this way, style becomes a powerful tool for connection, as it enables us to find common ground with others who share our aesthetic sensibilities.

As individuals, we have the freedom to embrace established styles, blend them together, or forge entirely new paths, becoming trendsetters ourselves. We hope this issue inspires you to forge new paths or perhaps explore familiar ones. There is so much here in Castle Rock to uplift our spirits, boost your productivity and ignite your creativity.

What we’ve found is that the best style is an authentic expression of who you really are. And that’s something no one on earth can duplicate.

Here’s to being uniquely you!

COLORADO NATIVE AND FOUNDER OF CLYDESDALE INTERIORS, JALEN CAVANAUGH, BRINGS A DISTINCT DEDICATION AND FRESH PERSPECTIVE TO HIS WORLD OF INTERIOR DESIGN.

Design With Heart

ARTICLE BY EMMA REED | PHOTOGRAPHY BY CLYDESDALE INTERIORS
Our goal is to give you a white glove experience.

Our homes are spaces that reflect us: our personalities, our lifestyles and our aesthetics. We delight in comfortable spaces that just feel right. It’s this intersection of design and emotion that Clydesdale Interiors meets its clients.

Jalen Cavanaugh is a Colorado native with an acute talent for guiding his clients through the home design of their dreams. For more than seven years, he’s developed his presence in the industry to one of supreme quality and trustworthy service. His passion for design can be felt from the start of a project.

“Honestly, it was more my mom who pushed me to interior design,” he recalls. While still in high school, Jalen ran a small business selling Christmas and fall wreaths. His breakthrough came during his junior year when he interned at an interior design firm in Denver.

“I just fell in love with the residential aspect of it and making someone’s home become their dream home,” he explains. After years of professional experience, he was ready to do something of his own.

Jalen founded Clydesdale Interiors in February 2020. Born out of his desire to create personalized design experiences, the firm offers a personalized

service to its clients, ensuring that every project, no matter the budget, receives the same level of care and attention.

“Our goal is to give you a white glove experience,” Jalen emphasizes. This dedication to high-quality service is at the core of Clydesdale Interiors’ philosophy. He strives to build genuine connections with his clients, understanding their needs and desires at a fundamental level.

For Jalen, the design experience is personal. He makes a distinct effort to build trust with everyone he works with to be a strong pillar of care and support during a project.

“Design has a lot of emotions,” Jalen explains. His approach involves listening carefully to his clients and paying attention to the details of their lives. “We really try to connect in that way.”

One of Jalen’s standout projects involved a kitchen renovation for a client in Sedalia, where he skillfully blended various elements with the client’s vibrant persona.

“We made her kitchen timeless but at the same time totally her personality,” Jalen recounts. By incorporating unique materials like sage green cabinets and

I might be young, but I really do have new and fresh ideas that I can bring to the table. “ ”

an exotic quartzite countertop, he created a space that was both functional and deeply personal.

Jalen displays a level of professionalism matched by those with decades of history in the industry. His energy is an asset, bringing vibrant perspectives and innovative ideas to his designs.

“I might be young, but I really do have new and fresh ideas that I can bring to the table,” he says confidently. His ability to think outside the box and push both his clients and himself to their greatest potential makes him a rising-star in this arena.

As Clydesdale Interiors looks to the future, Jalen envisions expanding further into the foothills while maintaining the specialized feel of his company.

“I want it to be more of a boutique company to keep it that small community,” he shares.

Jalen’s dedication to earning trust and building genuine relationships, coupled with his innovative design ideas, makes Clydesdale Interiors a standout in the industry. For those in Castle Rock and beyond, Jalen offers not just a service but a transformative experience, turning houses into homes and clients into meaningful relationships.

Put your Best Tooth Forward for Back-to-School

“A smile is the universal welcome.”

—Max Eastman

A bright and cheery smile conveys warmth, acceptance, and joy, regardless of language, culture, or background.

One of the most empowering gifts a parent can give their child is the confidence to smile proudly. Station Dental understands that dental health extends beyond the teeth in one's mouth; it mirrors internal and external health. Issues like tooth decay, gum disease, and bad breath (halitosis) can disrupt the body’s symbiotic processes and peer relationships.

Proper dental hygiene is as essential as proper diet, regular exercise, good rest, and mental health. Just like regular pediatric physicals, regular checkups with a dentist are crucial to a child's total well-being.

There is no better time to get your child started or reintroduced to good dental hygiene than Back-to-School.

EARLY DETECTION AND PREVENTION:

A dental check-up before the school year starts allows your child’s dentist to catch

and address any potential issues early. This can prevent minor problems from becoming major ones, ensuring your child's oral health is in top shape.

ESTABLISHING ROUTINE: Scheduling dental visits around the same time each year helps establish a consistent routine, crucial for maintaining oral health. Summer checkups ensure your student won’t miss school for a dental appointment

PROTECTION FOR ACTIVE KIDS: If your child participates in sports, the dentist can provide custom-fitted mouthguards to protect their teeth from injuries. This is particularly relevant at the start of the school sports season.

Station Dental strives to provide a childfriendly environment with compassionate team members to help alleviate or potentially prevent a child’s fear of the dentist. Bring your child in today to set them up for a healthier, more successful school year, both academically and socially.

Station Dental has offices throughout the Denver Metro area, including its Castle Rock location, 4625 Trail Boss Dr Suite G, .

From-Scratch Pasta

what you need

Lavender Bath Salt Blend

what you need

16 ounces Bokek Dead Sea Salt 20 drops lavender essential oil

what you do

In a mixing bowl, add drops of the essential oil to the bath salt and mix well; store in a glass jar. Add 1/3 to 1/2 cup of the scented salts to a bath for a relaxing experience. SeaSalt.com

Yield: 1 pound

2 cups all-purpose flour, plus more for dusting

4 large eggs

what you do

1. Mound the flour in the center of a work surface with a well in the middle. Crack the eggs into the well and beat with a fork until smooth, then work flour into eggs with the fork. Use a bench scraper to work in the rest of the flour a little at a time. When the flour is incorporated, form the dough with your hands into a rounded mass for kneading. Lightly dust your workspace with flour and knead dough about 10 minutes, until smooth and elastic. Cover dough with a bowl or plastic wrap and rest 1 1/2 hours, or chill overnight.

2. To roll by hand, flour a clean work surface. Vigorously roll dough to a very thin circle and roll constantly with even pressure as it stretches for several minutes until as thin as possible, almost translucent.

3. To cut by hand, lightly fold sheets one at a time into thirds and cut to desired thickness. Recipe from MarthaStewart.com

Dark Chocolate Truffles

what you need

1/2 cup heavy cream

8 ounces bittersweet chocolate, chopped

1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

1 cup cocoa powder, for dusting

what you do

1. Bring the cream to just a simmer in a saucepan over low heat. Pour the cream over the chocolate in a bowl and let stand about 10 minutes to melt the chocolate. Add the vanilla, stir until smooth and set aside to cool for 1 hour at room temperature.

2. Beat chocolate at medium speed until thick and light-colored. Spread over the bottom of a baking dish, smooth and refrigerate 2 hours until firm.

3. Pour cocoa powder onto a deep plate or shallow bowl, and using a melon baller or small ice cream scoop, scoop out balls of chocolate. Roll in cocoa powder until coated and transfer to a parchment-lined baking sheet. Recipe from FoodNetwork.com

ELEVATE YOUR CLOSET

Every woman dreams of an organized and beautiful closet space, but it often comes last on the list of places that get their time and attention. Follow our nine tips for transforming and elevating your closet. How you organize your closet will of course differ based on the size of your space, the size of your wardrobe, and the kind of life you lead. But applying these guidelines will result in a much more organized and aesthetically pleasing space.

FACE CLOTHES THE SAME DIRECTION

It may seem silly, but when dealing with a small space, little things count. Hanging all clothes the same direction is a no-brainer for continuity in your closet.

8 WAYS TO ORGANIZE AND INJECT STYLE INTO YOUR SPACE
ARTICLE BY HALEY WILLIAMS | PHOTOGRAPHY
BY CASSANDRA CASTANEDA

USE REAL ESTATE WISELY

Reserve the front and middle of the closet for clothes worn most often. For someone who gets dressed for work each morning at 6 a.m., work clothes should be at the front of the closet. Store lesser-worn items like formal wear and out-of-season clothes toward the back and on the upper shelves. A large mirror and counter with chair provides the perfect spot to select jewelry and finalize finishing outfit touches. While every closet is different, the key here is everything has a home.

NEGATIVE SPACE

Using space efficiently is important, but keep in mind every good design includes some negative space. For instance, consider adding built-ins on the long wall of your closet but keep the short wall open with a mirror.

HIDDEN STORAGE

Hidden storage is a game changer in keeping a closet visually clean. Tuck folded clothes behind closed cabinet doors if the space is multipurpose. The floor-toceiling built-ins in Keri’s closet contain folded clothes, athleisure and other items she needs as she gets ready each day. Tuck away the least-used items: Use hidden storage and the very top of the closet for out-of-season items and stuff only worn a few times a year.

ORGANIZE BY KIND AND COLOR

Group clothes by kind first and color second. This ensures quick location of that favorite shirt when it’s needed. Bonus - it’s easy on the eye. Group like with like: Gather belts, sweaters, long-sleeve shirts, work pants, dresses, button-down shirts, jeans, shorts, etc., and decide the best place to store each item as a group (e.g., hang pants in the closet, fold and stack sweaters in a bureau). Working with groupings will help you figure out how much space you need and the best way to store each type of item.

UPGRADED HANGERS

The simplest and fastest way to make a BIG difference in your closet organization is to get matching hangers that go beyond the traditional plastic or wire hangers. And for sure ditch any with paper from the dry cleaner!

BAG & SHOE STORAGE

Alternate the way shoes are facing. This ultimately helps fit more on each row and provide a visually appealing way to display those prized possessions.

Everyone understands the frustration of searching for that one clutch when rushing out for the evening. Bags benefit from a space all their own. Get clear container storage for small bags and purses so you can locate and access them easily.

MAKE A STATEMENT

Why use an armchair when you have room for a sofa? Slide up a stool and colorful area rug to complete the look. If you have excessive wall space, consider a mini gallery wall or a statement wall with wallpaper to polish things off.

Braids to Keep You Chic All Year Long

Braids are a great way to add style and uniqueness to your hair style rotation and have been a staple in hair styles dating back to the 3500 B.C. This historical hairstyle is here to stay, so we wanted to share some go-to impressive looks.

pull through braid with space buns

Part hair down the center. Create pull-through braids on each side of the head. Tie elastic at the end of the braids to create a ponytail at the nape of the neck. For extra volume in the buns, tease the hair in the ponytail before twisting it into a bun. Secure with hair pins and... Voilà!

Place a bandana on the forehead and tie it in the back. Create as many braids as desired in the back of the head, teasing the ends to avoid using elastics.
