EXPERIENCE NEW STRENGTH TO CONQUER ALL YOUR ADVENTURES
Owner Shelli Sifrit

The Exercise Coach promotes Stronger Muscles, Stronger Health, Stronger Self, and can help take you to the next level no matter your age or where you are in your fitness journey.
“Making a difference in someone’s life is my passion,” owner Shelli Sifrit, says. Shelli and her husband, Mark, have been serving the Parker community since 2020 and opened their second location in Castle Rock in August of 2023. They have helped clients from 15 years-old to 87 years-old gain strength and improve health in just two 20-minute sessions a week. “Our vision is to transform the way we age,” Shelli explains.
The age-old philosophy of “just getting moving,” isn’t the right answer. We need muscle quality from strength training.
Why is strength so important? Irwin Rosenberg, M.D., states, “Muscle to a far greater extent than people realize is responsible for the vitality of their whole physiological apparatus.”
As the largest personal training studio brand, The Exercise Coach not only offers an ideal solution for busy people (two, 20-minute workouts a week), but the proprietary equipment, Exerbotics®, and coach-led workouts are differentiators that set the franchise apart. The machines measure force output for users of all levels and each person can get real-time visual feedback during the workout. And, since the information is organized and stored for each session, they can also see historical changes in strength. The coaches and the ability to see instant results right on the screen provide motivation and a sense of accomplishment.
By prioritizing resistance training to optimize health, strength and vitality, people can do what they love. “Science and medical advancements have made it that we all live longer, and people want to be active through their 40’s, 50’s, and beyond. Strength allows us to do outdoor activities safely as we age and do the things we want to do,” Shelli explains. “I have always been active, but I was late in becoming a hiker. I am much stronger than I used to be and more confident as I explore the challenging trails on the front range.”
Strength training not only improves muscle quality, it has been proven to have other positive health and fitness benefits, like reducing body fat, increasing metabolic rate, increasing bone mineral density, and reducing back and arthritic pain. Members at The Exercise Coach
have also provided feedback that they are seeing improvements in A1C, cholesterol, blood pressure, and other health markers.
“Our Exercise Philosophy is to simultaneously maximize safety, effectiveness and efficiency,” Shelli relates. Having better muscle quality and strength allows people to perform activities at a higher level with greater confidence. Shelli has members reporting faster recovery from hip and knee replacements, ankle surgeries, and finding relief from neuropathy.
Members have also lost weight as they gain muscle and become more active.
Shelli and Mark are excited about making a difference in the Parker and Castle Rock communities. The Exercise Coach is changing lives one member at a time. “We want to empower and inspire people to enjoy strength,” Shelli emphasizes. “Our members in Parker are like family and now we have a new family in Castle Rock too.”

37 Years and Counting
We met at USC 37 years ago. After a whirlwind two weeks, we knew we were destined to spend our lives together. Our life has been an amazing adventure so far highlighted by family, friends and enduring love.
Guilty Pleasures
Cheers! That pretty much says it all. We love to drink and collect boutique wines! What goes with wine? Friends, bbq’s, cheese & chocolate!
Our Heart, Our Home
We have been blessed with three wonderful boys. Though they are grown now, they still motivate our every intention. Hopefully we will be blessed with grandchildren soon.
Little Brown Dogs
Life would not be complete without the chaos of having four wiggle butts—I mean, Boykin Spaniels. They fill our home with hilarious antics and never-ending joy.
Adventures Near & Far
When there is opportunity to explore, we dive in headfirst. Everywhere we’ve traveled, we’ve enjoyed the food, culture and people we have met. Our newest adventure is right here in Castle Rock. We are so excited to get to meet all of you!

FINDING A TOUCH OF GLAM IN EVERYDAY DESIGN
ARTICLE BY ALLISON GIBESON | PHOTOGRAPHY PROVIDED
HGTV star shares her secrets to make a home look both beautiful and livable.
Tamara Day, star of HGTV’s Bargain Mansions, describes her style as “laid-back luxe.”
“I am a mom of four, and I like pretty, shiny things,” Tamara says. “The two don’t always mix well. I design with lifestyle and family in mind but with that touch of glam.”
This mixture of practicality and flare can be accomplished throughout the home on a budget, Tamara says.
When it comes to the kitchen, she says replacing the backsplash is one of the most cost-effective ways to refresh the room. Additionally, she says paint is the most inexpensive option to update cabinets, and there is a de-glosser on the market that will reduce the labor involved by helping paint adhere to cabinets.
“You can get a whole new kitchen with some fresh paint,” Tamara says.
In the bathroom, Tamara suggests putting up new light fixtures and wallpaper for a fresh look. She suggests using wallpaper on just one wall to create contrast.
“Wallpaper transforms everything and puts in a hominess factor,” Tamara says.
To give a new feel to the living room, Tamara suggests using decorative pillows as well as displaying design books and layering with a candle or other interesting object to create a sentimental focal point. She also suggests investing in good, quality sofas
and rugs because less expensive options will not typically withstand the amount of wear and tear they receive from a family.
Overall, Tamara says there is a balance between mixing expensive and inexpensive items and materials around the home, all without having it looking cluttered. She says every space needs something that is thrifted.
Tamara finds many people enjoy elements of different types of styles and have a hard time defining their personal style. To help narrow down to a preferred look, she suggests taking a hundred room images and sorting them into piles of likes and dislikes. She says when someone completes this exercise, they typically find a theme to their preferences.
MAKING COLOR, TEXTURE AND PATTERN STAND OUT
Tamara has a natural eye for using great colors and textures in design. What is her approach to making a room look great?
HERE ARE TAMARA’S TOP TIPS:
Find a base color with pops of other colors.
“Every room needs a touch of black and a pop of color,” Tamara says. “The black will anchor it, but the color will give it life.”
If the home is urban, she suggests more bold pops. If it is a traditional home, use a mixture of colors. Additionally, she suggests using one basic color throughout a home with pops of other colors as opposed to having a different color in each room.
Consider wallpaper.
“Wallpaper can be scary for a lot of people, but there are so may wallpapers out there that are removable,” Tamara says.
Tamara says wallpaper adds texture and warmth, and she includes it in most of the homes she designs.
Layer with baskets, blankets and greenery. All three make a room feel cozy and add color and interest to a space.
Whether your pup has the obedience of a dog show finalist, or social behavior that makes you want to play dead around others, you can develop more owner confidence with help from this expert trainer.
“Socializing your dog is beneficial for both dogs and their owners,” says Taryn Tyler, a certified dog trainer. “It creates confidence for both dogs and owners and displaces the anxiety we feel when our dogs aren’t behaving like we want them to.”
Taryn says that boundaries can be learned by dogs of any age.
“There’s a nasty perception along the ‘can’t teach an old dog new tricks’ line of thinking,” she says. “While you can’t take a dog with serious behavioral issues and completely turn them around 180 degrees, you can make improvements in how you understand your dog and how they understand you. Dog training isn’t just for struggling pups either. Creating a relationship between you and your canine based on confidence, reliability and reward can turn a good dog into a great dog.”

“Creating a relationship between you and your canine based on confidence, reliability and reward can turn a good dog into a great dog.”
Taryn stresses that teaching a dog to sit or stay is less about tricks and more about the relationship that builds between animal and owner. “That, in turn, fosters an environment where the next time a family hosts Thanksgiving or has friends over, the owner and their dogs fall into the habit of obeying commands because of the confidence built through all the work put in beforehand.”
Even dogs with a troubled history can achieve improvement.
“We all love our dogs, but they can be stressful when they can’t seem to click in our home environments.
DOG SOCIALIZING TIPS:
• Socializing is more than taking your dog in public. A guy can dump a bunch of mulch in your driveway and spread it, but he’s not a landscaper until he’s following a plan. When the doorbell rings or a visitor comes into the house, what’s our expectation for the dog? When we’re in public and the dog’s attention is diverted, what’s our plan to refocus them? Socialization is 99 percent working on small steps as part of a larger plan.
• Socializing isn’t about our dogs being the center of attention in public. Everyone loves seeing a dog, but our best outcome for the dog is to go unnoticed. Sitting by our side, ignoring external stimuli, remaining calm—those are things we strive for when socializing a dog.
• When socializing dogs with other dogs, start small. Take a walk with another dog to get them to just exist in the same vicinity. Once they’re able to not be excited by the other dog, work on limited playing in controlled environments.
• If someone comes into your home, let them know what boundaries you’re working on with your dog. You can even suggest asking them to carry a few treats and work on some of the behaviors your dog is already comfortable with.
HOW TO THROW A BIRTHDAY BASH FOR YOUR FOUR-LEGGED FRIENDS:
Once your dog is able to socialize with other pets, playdates are a great way to encourage good play behavior. One way to celebrate your pup’s birthday is to celebrate with their favorite furry friends. Here are a few helpful tips for making your gathering a success.
• Set up play areas for your furry guests to enjoy. This can include a doggy pool or splash pad, chew toys, frisbees, and don’t forget the pet-friendly bubbles.
• Offer party guests birthday attire such as a birthday hat, bandana or party outfit. Set up a photo wall for pet owners to get photos with their furry friends in their birthday outfits. Better yet, make it a costume competition, and invite guests to come dressed up ready to show off their pup’s attire.
• Create a treat display with a pet-friendly birthday cake and various chewy snacks for guests to give their pups.
• Party favors are a must to end your festivities with a bang. Fill party bags with bouncy balls, treats, and pet-friendly bubbles to send your guests off with a smile.

Before Backyards 360, Ed Hardesty ran Everything Hot Tubz, providing hot tub

This shared vision of a single destination for all outdoor needs led to the merging of

Combining design, construction, and leisure expertise, they proudly offer a onestop solution, providing in-house service every step of the way, from initial design concepts to selecting the finest materials to creating digital visualizations to executing the construction. “Whether it's a small purchase like a patio chair or a million-dollar backyard build, we can handle it all,” says Eddy.
One of Backyards 360's distinguishing features is its commitment to quality and customer satisfaction. Offering personalized service tailored to each customer’s needs, they have four on-staff designers and a portfolio of partners. Backyards 360 employs a rigorous vetting process for the partners it works with, ensuring it only collaborates with the best.

This dedication to excellence is evident in their customer service. Backyards 360 has a proven track record of going above and beyond to provide unmatched personalization.
