Leigh Camel | leigh.camel@lifestylepubs.com
Is February and Valentine's just a Cliché? NO WAY! HAPPY PROCLAIMED LOVE MONTH! (even though you should love every month) Confession time, I've avoided the theme of Romance, Love, & Valentine's Day in the publication for a few years now because of a fear of people making fun of me for being a Cliché. But a very special person that I had the honor of interviewing for this issue, said to me, " let people see you, and who you are. That is what will connect them, and if it doesn't then you have to be okay with that. But if you do not walk your truth, people will feel it and never connect to you." I couldn't have loved that more or been more ready to hear that truth. So here it is, I am a helpless romantic. I live for all types of love. The first love, the lost love, the love of a soul mate, the love of my children, the love of my friends, the love of the compassion of a fellow person no matter how brief, the person who just radiates a love for their life. I can't help it. Nothing inspires me more than LOVE! My wedding anniversary to my husband is in the month of February, if that says anything about my obsession of the power of love. May you all enjoy me finally pulling of the band-aid and honoring the celebration of LOVE! Love comes in all forms and in these trying times, we all should celebrate the power of love! We have some very special editorials this month centered around the power of love. ENJOY!

020 WAS AN INTERESTING YEAR, TO SAY THE
LEAST. It was especially perplexing to hyper-local shoppers, who were used to being loyal to shopping only local and independently owned establishments. Just like eating healthy and getting enough water, their only desire was to support the livelihoods of their family, friends and neighbors. Why you should have a CRUSH on Crush Wine Bar if you don’t already CHATTING IT UP LIKE OLD FRIENDS WITH COUPLE AND OWNERS JAMES AND NANCIE LEWIS FROM CRUSH WINE BAR
LOCAL MARRIED COUPLE THE LEWIS’ AND OWNERS OF CRUSH WINE BAR HAVE AN ENERGY AND LOVE THAT IS UNDENIABLE WHEN YOU WALK INTO THEIR ESTABLISHMENT OF JUST OVER THREE YEARS STRONG. Located in a quaint area of The Meadows in Castle Rock, with the mountain range behind them and a view of the city and The Rock peeking from their front windows, Crush Wine Bar is the place that romance is bound to bloom. To say they have become one of the most beloved places to spend time at, is well, an understatement. Anytime you ask someone in the community where they would like to meet, one of the most common responses is, let’s meet at Crush. I couldn’t help but take this opportunity to learn why people in our community and the entire front range have an obsession and downright passion for Crush. To put it simply, I wanted to know why everyone has a CRUSH on Crush Wine Bar. After only a few minutes of introductions, I too quickly fell under the spell of James and Nancie Lewis. This lovely couple welcomed me into their business like they were welcoming a friend from their childhood into their home. Immediately making sure I was comfortable, happy, and ready for a nice long chat. Here are some of the reasons I discovered why if you are not already CRUSHING on Crush Wine Bar you should be: 16

LEE TEAM BUSINESS HIGHLIGHT ANGIE’S FAMILY RESTAURANT The Homemade Spaghetti Place
This community is special to us! Melanie and I know that what makes this community special are the people and the businesses. 2020 was challenging for these small businesses, we would like to take this opportunity to give them a platform to share their passion! Thank you for continuing to support them with us! The past 23 years have brought a lot of changes to downtown Castle Rock, but one thing that has not changed is the hometown Italian restaurant Angie’s. Mike McCaffrey Sr. founded the restaurant in 1965 in Hilltop, and after success in the industry decided to open a location that Mike Jr. and his wife April would run. Downtown Castle Rock was the perfect spot, and in 1998 the McCaffrey family put down roots and began their business.
What can customers expect when visiting Angie’s?
Mike and April are often the first to greet you like family. They have been pillars in supporting the community since opening. Many longtime residents can remember a team dinner for a local sports team or celebrating a family milestone at their restaurant. Their specialty is Italian food, but the Mexican food addition to the menu brings rave reviews. With their homemade noodles and meatballs made daily, they take great pride in offering wonderful, affordable food to downtown Castle Rock and the surrounding areas.
What do you love most about owning a small business in Castle Rock?
Mike and April have seen many changes in downtown since opening over 20 years ago, but the feeling of community is still the same and the reason they love running a business here. With the recent challenges they have relied on their loyal customers that they consider friends to see them through the hard days. “I wish I had time to handwrite a personal thank you note to each and every one of our regulars for their overwhelming support during the COVID dining room shut down”, McCaffrey says.
What are people saying about Angie’s?
“Angie’s has been a family favorite since they opened, whether it was eating there during Starlighting or a quick take-out meal when we are craving their homemade noodles (at least once a month). Mike and April have always been there during our visits and their commitment to a great meal with great service is what keeps us coming back all the time!” – Sandy K.
Help support this small business!
Angie’s Restaurant is open for limited dining room seating and take-out at 201 Fourth Street in Downtown Castle Rock. Open Tuesday to Sunday, 11am–8pm, give them a call at 303-660-1233 or order online at www.angies.us. A Spaghetti 4-Pack or the best Eggplant Parmesan you will find are family favorites in our house – try it today!

E AC H DAY I S A M I R AC L E INSPIRING PHOTOS OF CHILDREN THAT JUST SIMPLY LOVE LIFE
NO ONE LOOKS AT THE WORLD AS BRIGHT AND PRETTY AS A CHILD DOES. They just LOVE TO LIVE! Never mind harsh realities, children think and dream the way that adults never will — resolute and full of hope. Their innocence may make them vulnerable but it’s also the very quality that makes them the strongest. Because, really, there’s no place to look for that glimmer of hope than in the eyes of a child. 32

ahead of the wave
The real estate market has been quite the surprise in 2020. With all time low interest rates combined with record low inventory we have seen home prices skyrocket. With spring right around the corner, we would typically be gearing up for the “busy” time of the year. There have been a lot of questions surrounding this with the uncertainty carrying over f rom 2020 however, we predict that the spring will be as busy as ever! There is a pent-up demand of both buyers and sellers that are eagerly anticipating the re-opening of society and will likely jump on their real estate needs right away. Therefore, it is as important as ever to evaluate your real estate needs. If you have been thinking about making a move, we will want to discuss the best timing and positioning for you in the market to stay ahead of the wave.
