When Jeff moved to the Triangle in 2017, he knew he wanted to own his own business. He also started eating fast food for the first time in his life. “Everyone always says when starting a business: ‘Solve one of your own problems,’” Jeff says. After years of researching the area—he first fell in love with the Triangle in 2014—Jeff realized he wasn’t the only one frustrated by the lack of fast, healthy dining options. “Cary made sense,” he says. “People were already looking for healthy food.” While he doesn’t have a restaurant background, Jeff is passionate about wellness and has strong entrepreneurial instincts. Jeff had researched Kale Me Crazy then traveled to Atlanta, where the company is based, and dined at the cafes. He fell in love with the brand and knew he had to bring it to Cary. After opening Kale Me Crazy in Waverly Place, Jeff began building a local network. The fitness community was a huge part of that, and making friends with other entrepreneurs and locals was a welcome benefit. "My favorite part about owning my own business is connecting with my customers,” he says. The Cary cafe, with its lofty architecture, is modern, light-filled and inviting. It is conveniently situated between a high-end yoga studio and a blowout salon. If Waverly Place is becoming the "it" destination for Triangle wellness enthusiasts, then Kale Me Crazy is the hub of that community. And Jeff, who loves hot yoga and working out, embodies it. His passion and instincts toward the wellness industry and desire to bring it to Cary are as impressive as the wraps, salads, cold-pressed juices and smoothies he serves.

A monochromatic boutique space flooded with natural light, Hustle Fitness Studio is in a section of revitalized downtown Cary now named Cedar Street Station. Class hasn’t begun yet. Slam balls, TRX suspension systems, boxing bags and kettlebells are all waiting in the still. Energy pounds through the walls with anticipation of the studio filling for the ever-popular Saturday morning Hustle. Members of all fitness levels begin to enter the HIIT studio. The music begins, and for the next 60 minutes, it’s high-intensity interval training: sweat dripping, hearts pumping, trainers moving through the studio motivating. It’s a community of encouragement among the class during each water break. “...People welcome and encourage you right from the start,” says Hustle regular Megan Dionne. Amanda Dismukes opened Hustle in August 2016. With years of experience in the fitness industry and a dedicated following, Amanda chose to pursue her passion and deliver an experience beyond group fitness and personal training. She wanted to build a community. She wanted a space where people could show up, feel safe and welcome, experience a great workout and by the end of class, leave feeling accomplished, focused and a little less stressed from the everyday. In just over two full years, Amanda is well on her way to growing this community in downtown Cary. Hustle offers HIIT classes, strength training, kickboxing-inspired “Fight Club.” Four total body balance yoga and one core-intensive format are also on the Hustle schedule.
