A Cozy & Confident Vibe What defines style in Canton? Around here, it’s not just about fashion—it’s about how we live, move, and express who we are. In North Georgia, style shows up in the small details and bold choices. It’s the confidence that comes from knowing your best colors—like those revealed through a session at House of Colour Canton, where personalized palettes help people step into every room with clarity and charm. It’s not just about clothes—it’s about presence. Style also rolls in on four wheels, thanks to the rise of luxury Mini E-wagons by CrüZen Electric Cruisers. These aren’t your typical golf carts. They're eco-luxe, street-legal statement pieces—blending elevated design with the ease of neighborhood cruising. Whether you're heading downtown or pulling into a fall festival, they turn heads and redefine movement in Canton. And when it comes to shopping local with soul, Molly & Margie’s captures our community’s signature blend of warmth and whimsy. This beloved boutique, 15 minutes north of Downtown, is more than a storefront—it’s a gathering space for women who embrace style with heart. Every piece on the rack feels like a conversation waiting to happen. This September, we explore what authentic style means—beyond aesthetics, into intention. From color confidence to closet staples, backyard brunches to boutique discoveries, the heartbeat of Cherokee County’s style scene is authenticity. It’s about celebrating who you are, not just what you wear. And for my generation, I cannot wait for you to check out Chris Ess's article this month; it's RAD! Style in Canton is cozy yet polished, classic with a creative twist. It’s woven through our homes, reflected in our wardrobes, and parked in our driveways. In this issue, we shine a spotlight on the entrepreneurs and tastemakers who make this area feel as good as it looks. So pull on your favorite boots, layer up in confidence, and cruise into fall with flair. You don’t need to be on a runway to own your look—you need to live it, love it, and let it reflect who you truly are. With warmth & style, C H I C K A E L L O Y, P U B L I S H E R @CANTONCITYLIFESTYLE

Gen X and early Millennials didn’t have social media hype or influencers to copy. We had the mirror, the mall, and MTV’s endless music videos. Here’s how we crafted our style—bold, honest, and unapologetically ourselves.
ARTICLE BY CHRIS ESS
1. Layering Everything Denim overalls with one strap undone, neon turtlenecks underneath, and a Jansport backpack completing the look. Practical? Sure. But mostly, it was your statement—your vibe on display. 2. Mixtape Aesthetics A killer playlist meant sliding Boyz II Men next to Nirvana. Sharpie-labeled Maxell tapes given to you by your crush spun in your Walkman, louder than any fashion brand logo. 3. DIY Hair Moves Frosted tips straight from the box, gravity-defying bangs, and a lineup of L.A. Looks gel on the sink. We didn’t just style—we experimented, sometimes twice in a weekend. 4. Hand-Me-Down Mastery Big brother’s varsity jacket, Mom’s well-worn Levi’s, and a friendship bracelet from summer camp. If it had a story, it earned a spot in your rotation. 5. The Confidence to Clash Plaid skorts paired with Hypercolor tees, slouchy socks over leggings. Matching was overrated—clashing was the move. Style wasn’t handed to us—it was earned, just like every trophy on our shelf. And we wore it loud and proud, like the anthem that defined a generation. C H R I S ES S

UNCOVERING True Style THROUGH Science, Faith, AND Color Step into Sarah's studio on North Street and you’re not just getting a colorful consult—you’re unlocking a new way of seeing yourself. From her earliest days working out of a spare bedroom to now guiding luxury clients, CEOs, and full corporate teams, Sarah’s growth has been rooted in humility, faith, and an unwavering pursuit of excellence. “We started small,” she says, “but our impact has grown with our heart.” Today, her work blends Southern hospitality with elevated style, earning trust across Canton’s most discerning homes and boardrooms. As the owner of House of Colour Canton and a leading voice in personal styling, Sarah blends 40 years of science-backed color theory with a purpose-driven mission: to help people look and feel like the best version of themselves. Her process is grounded in natural daylight, bare skin, and intentional listening. Whether you're a high school student learning self-confidence, a CEO looking to streamline your wardrobe, or a mom navigating decision fatigue, Sarah’s method centers your God-given beauty. It simplifies how you show up every day.

Beyond individuals, her team serves entire corporate offices—from Southeast Restoration to Chickfil-A—bringing clarity, confidence, and connection through personalized style. And yes, she sees politicians and celebrities, too. Quietly. At the root of it all? Sarah’s deep belief that beauty isn’t found in trends—it’s discovered in truth. Most Americans only wear 15% of what’s in their closet. That means 85% is clutter, confusion, and decision fatigue. Sarah wants to change that—and she’s doing it through a unique combination of neuroscience, style analysis, and grace-filled truth. “We all have a reticular activating system in our brain that keeps us on autopilot,” she explains. “We buy the same colors, wear the same things, and never realize we’re missing what works for us.” Her team helps clients break free from that loop with objective, data-driven analysis—what colors harmonize with your skin, what silhouettes flatter your body, and what pieces align with your lifestyle. But it’s not just science. Sarah’s faith is a quiet, powerful undercurrent in everything she does. “God didn’t get it wrong when He gave you your coloring,” she says. “We help people stop fighting that and start embracing it.” Her studio tagline? “Unleashing your God-given beauty.” One powerful example of Sarah’s impact came from a client named Courtney, who had spent most of her life defaulting to black for special occasions. “I’ve never worn anything but black to graduations,” she told Sarah. But after her color consult, something shifted. This year, she stepped out in a green dress for one ceremony and a red romper with yellow accents for another—one of them her son’s graduation. “I enjoy dressing now,” she said. “For the first time, I feel confident.” That, Sarah says, is the heart of what they do: unlocking joy, freedom, and self-expression through color. It’s more than style—it’s a mindset shift. One that says: you are wonderfully made, and yes, that includes your color palette. From teens battling self-doubt to seasoned professionals looking for ease, Sarah’s services speak to every age and stage. And while the style and color analysis may be a one-time appointment, the impact? Lifelong. Set up your visit: HOCCanton.com

SMALL-TOWN ELEGANCE

There’s something undeniably special about shopping in the small towns surrounding Canton, GA— where friendly hellos greet you at the door, and every storefront feels like a step back into simpler, sweeter times. Molly and Margie’s in Ball Ground is one such place that perfectly captures that feeling of nostalgia and community. Nancy and John Watkins know a thing or two about small-town charm. After owning Coco’s Cottage in Jasper for 12 years, they took a brief hiatus before discovering a run-down building in downtown Ball Ground. With vision and heart, they transformed it into Molly and Margie’s—a boutique named lovingly after their late mothers. The pink door, chosen by John, has become a local landmark, symbolizing the store’s one-ofa-kind spirit. Inside, Nancy’s commitment to personalized service shines. Every customer is greeted with a warm “hello,” and the store’s curated fashion

pieces feel more like treasures than typical retail finds. By stocking only four to six pieces per style, Molly and Margie’s ensures each item feels signature and unique—something shoppers won’t see everywhere else. The boutique is filled with handpicked favorites like embroidered pieces from Kate & Kylie, timeless styles by Ivy Jane and Uncle Frank, and artisan accessories including Latico leather handbags and Jenny Krauss belts from Peru. Local handcrafted jewelry and leather goods further deepen the connection to the

community. They’ve even begun creating their own charm necklaces, adding a personal touch you won’t find in big box stores. One can’t miss the signature pink door and larger than life boutique bag outside this wonderful store. In a time when convenience often outweighs connection, shopping locally reminds us of the beauty in slowing down, supporting neighbors, and finding joy in the details. Molly and Margie’s isn’t just a store—it’s a reminder of home, heart, and the enduring magic of small-town living. Visit: MollyandMargies.com

Consider the details of the presentation. From a package trimmed in ribbon curls and coordinating tissue, to a coffee table book with gilded fonts and colorful paper edges, details catch our attention. Presentation isn’t only visual—it’s emotional. It tells your guests, I thought of you. My dining table has served as a hub for home-cooked entertainment for over two decades. We’ve hosted open-house style birthday celebrations, upscale Christmas dinners with dear friends, groups of teenagers connecting, and friends who are new to town needing a home away from home. Hospitality around our table, anchored by delicious food, brings me joy. No matter the type or scale of the occasion, one of my favorite pieces of hosting is the presentation of the table we gather around. Tablecloths and placemats set the backdrop for your food, acting as the base to which your table scape builds. Florals and greenery add a natural freshness, offering a salute to the current season. Place settings can be the focal point of your table, acting as the lead in your table’s scene. Lighting matters too—candles or twinkle lights can instantly shift the mood and invite warmth. In an era of convenience, there is little appreciation for taking the time to create a pretty and thoughtful table. I believe there is no substitute for your guests entering your home and feeling not only welcome but valued; this is why presentation matters. Every detail is a whisper of intentionality—an echo of hospitality that lingers long after dessert has been served. Going the extra mile for the company doesn’t have to mean you are hand-washing your grandmother’s china after every dinner party. Understanding how to combine your resources to create fresh looks is part of the fun. Shopping your home for items that are on-theme to your gathering, or are treasured pieces that you love using to entertain, should always be where we start. From there, add in one or two new elements to make it feel fresh, and you’re there!

Use neutral-colored dinner plates and pair them with a whimsical paper plate. Lay your best china for a bowl of soup, but use plaid blankets as tablecloths and pair them with a cloth napkin in a coordinating stripe. The layers of fabric will offset the shine of your dishes and create a happy table. Add a personal touch with handwritten place cards, sprigs of rosemary, or small favors your guests can take home. There are darling products available in disposable tableware these days. They are available for every occasion, in sweet designs with unique color schemes. Adding these elements to your tablescape is an affordable and fun way to create a custom style. A bonus is that these items also make great hostess gifts! When you happen upon a charming package of napkins, a piece of fabric that would complement a new vase, or a tray that is just the right size for the heirloom platter in your cupboard, don’t hesitate. Bring it home, build a table setting, and give your creativity a tune-up! Invite someone over, bless them with your efforts. They will be glad of the invitation!
