The Arby's Foundation - Dream Big Atlanta This summer, the Arby's Foundation hosted Dream Big Atlanta, a benefit concert with live performances from Smash Mouth and Alex Guthrie. The event raised more than $400,000 to support childhood hunger, youth leadership and career readiness initiatives in Atlanta

RUNNER THAT HAS GRACED THE FAMILY TABLE FOR DECADES. “The heirloom table runner is the inspiration for color. I married traditional Thanksgiving colors of browns and golds with more trending colors of hydrangea blues and blush,” says Kim, whose residential design firm, Regas Interiors, has been based in Roswell for nearly 20 years. Her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Terrence Lee Croft have been hosting holiday gatherings in their traditional home for 18 years, where Kim says her deeply rooted traditions began. “My mom’s gift of hospitality is deep in my bones and memories of the holidays also run deep. I wanted to honor those precious years by pairing a traditional table with contemporary items this year.” The family centerpiece pumpkin is always dressed in traditional fall foliage. “I gave it a little twist on tradition by adding in the hydrangeas and white pumpkins," says Kim. "The creamware is a classic traditional staple while the Italian blown glass grapes add a pop of sparkle and color to the table setting. The dark brown seedy glass goblets are a twist on traditional

LAND, NOW HISTORIC BROOKHAVEN. Little did he know that now, almost 100 years later, five generations of the family would make the land their home. On the hallowed property, Grandfather Thompson’s three sons (including Holden) also built their homes. The compound included a tennis court, several gardens and parklike grounds where a pet mule held court. The property then was actually split between Fulton County, City of Atlanta (Buckhead) and Dekalb county. In 1968, the family sold the property and moved a few blocks away to East Brookhaven where Oscar and Bill bought homes side by side. In 1969 Holden and Elsie built their house on part of Oscar’s property and started raising their family. Friends nicknamed them “the little house on the golf course.” Elsie and their youngest daughter, Laura Thompson are partners in the successful residential real estate group of Harry Norman Realtors, The Thompson Team, along with Rachel Grindrod. Elsie and Holden both have taken leadership roles in the community they love. Elsie founded the Brookhaven Neighborhood Association, now the

Historic Brookhaven Neighborhood Association. It is arguably one of the strongest neighborhood associations of its kind in the South. She was active in the Junior League of Atlanta and has sponsored and hosted fund-raising events for the Atlanta Ronald McDonald House Charities. Together, they have been active with the Children’s Tumor Foundation, in honor of the daughter they lost to Neurofibromatosis in 2014 and are long-time members of the Peachtree Road United Methodist Church where they worship and have have taught Sunday School classes, worked with the youth program and held leadership positions in the church and renowned preschool which Holden’s parents helped start 70 years ago. While on the YMCA board, Holden helped start the first Indian Princess program in the US and was instrumental in getting others started. He was active in the Atlanta Rotary Club and spent many years coaching girls basketball. Together, they have raised a family and remained dedicated to the community. Holden worked with Thompson, Boland, and Lee Shoes started by his grandfather, then Oscar Thompson Shoes.

SLOAN LANHAM AND LILLIAN SANFORD ARE THIRD GRADERS AND LIVE IN BUCKHEAD. “We're Sloan and Lillian, two friends who met in first grade. We started with a lemonade stand to benefit guide dogs and the race. We have had a great year planning this event together. We invite our community to come out and enjoy a fun run while supporting an organization we felt could use more support. They are supported 100% by donations and recipients do not pay for the dogs.” These young entreprenuers planned a 5K race to raise funds for Guide Dogs for the Blind, raise awareness of what it's like to live with a disability and empower children to do the event planning. When Sloan lost her dog (a retired guide dog), around the time the family moved to Atlanta, she decided to start to fill that void by working to help others who depended on their dogs. Paws on the Pavement benefits Guide Dogs for the Blind, the largest provider of free, fully trained service dogs to those in need--serving the United States and Canada. The run took place last month and we couldn't be more proud of these two superstars!
