The Peace We Build
Home is more than a place we live. It is where peace is meant to dwell. It is where prayers are whispered over kitchen tables, where sunlight becomes medicine through clean windows, and where memories settle quietly into the corners of our lives.
In this Home Issue, we celebrate the people who help make our homes feel whole.

At Bloom Kitchens, Amy Hayes and her all-women team remind us that good design begins with listening and understanding how a family truly lives before shaping a space that serves them. Their work is not just about countertops and cabinets, but about creating rooms where connection happens and stress fades away.
Local artist Phil Castagneri shows us that some works of art do not simply hang on a wall. They become part of a home’s heartbeat. His Colorado landscapes bring stillness, light, and reverence for creation into everyday life, turning ordinary walls into windows of reflection.
And at NoCo Window Cleaning, Anthony Rivera proves that even the smallest details can restore peace. Clean windows invite in sunshine, clarity, and fresh air. Small gifts that quietly shift the way a home feels and the way a family breathes.
We also honor Brian and Jill Forman of Forman Homes and the Broomfield Rotary Club, who remind us that a home does not end at the front door. Their lives of service reflect a deeper truth, that community itself is part of our shelter. When we invest in others, we strengthen the foundation beneath us all.
Each of these stories carries a shared message. Home is meant to be nurtured and to hold safety, beauty, and purpose.
Scripture tells us that where our treasure is, there our heart will be also. This issue is an invitation to place that treasure in the people who live and work beside us and to build homes filled with light, peace, and meaning.
After all, Broomfield, Colorado was recently ranked the #1 Best Place to Live out West by Livability.com, a reflection of a community rooted in care, connection, and belonging.
With gratitude,

BY THE HUMBLE LION PHOTOGRAPHY & BLOOM KITCHENS How Bloom Kitchens’ Design/Build Process Helps Homeowners Move Forward With Peace of Mind
You’ve been thinking about the idea for months. Maybe longer. You love the color of the kitchen backsplash you found on a Pinterest board, but it doesn’t quite go with the countertops. And you don’t even know what to do with the countertops, because you like them. And when is a good time to start this project anyway, as life is so busy right now! So the idea continues to brew in your mind, but you’re frozen. What to do?
That sense of being stuck is one of the most common experiences people have with a remodeling project. Often, the number of decisions to make is overwhelming. From finding the right contractor (you keep remembering your friend’s nightmare story –yikes!) to the ripple effect of how one change affects another to the sheer amount of time and expense it requires, it’s enough to make anyone freeze.
That’s where a design/build company can help.
A design/build approach offers a different path forward than a typical contractor scenario. Rather than separating design and construction into distinct phases handled by different people, design/ build brings everything together from the start. Often described as one-stop shopping, design, pricing, planning and construction all happen collaboratively, with a single integrated team guiding the process.
Amy Hayes, owner of design/build company Bloom Kitchens, provided the analogy of planning an international vacation and hiring a travel agent.
“A travel agent has trusted contacts, vetted hotels and access to competitive rates. They plan the most efficient route for your destination by selecting flights, accommodations and popular tours, so you don’t have the hassle of figuring it out yourself,” Amy explained. “And if any unforeseen travel issues arise, a travel agent can reroute you quickly, ensuring a smooth and positive overall experience.”
From the outset of a design/build project, homeowners see the full picture: how the space will function and look, how construction will unfold and what it will cost as a fixed price. Decisions are made early and intentionally, which helps minimize mid-project changes that can drive up both stress and expense.
Amy added, “We also handle the hiccups, so the homeowner doesn’t have to carry that burden.”
For busy families juggling work, kids and everyday life, that type of project management can make a meaningful difference. It reduces the mental load by offering a single point of accountability and a trusted team that works together regularly.
Another major difference is that design comes first. A design is so much more than selecting finishes— it’s about fully understanding how a home is used. This philosophy shapes Bloom’s process.
Ann Ecklund, a senior designer at Bloom Kitchens, shared, “The foundation of any well-designed space starts with function and layout. A pretty room is worthless if it doesn't serve the people living in it.”
At Bloom Kitchens, designers spend time getting to know homeowners and how they live in a space before even talking about finishes.
Here’s how that plays out in real life.
Mike and Cheryl Slack own a 16-year-old home with a kitchen they liked but needed a refresh. The project began modestly: replacing carpet and updating the wood floors throughout the main level. As they talked it through, ideas naturally expanded. Cheryl mentioned improving the kitchen island by adding pullouts in the cabinets, and Mike suggested painting the cabinets.
That conversation led them to Bloom Kitchens, where Amy and Ann took a step back and looked at the space as a whole. Instead of treating each update separately, Ann designed a fully integrated plan that included new flooring, stonework and a refreshed fireplace mantel.
From a functional standpoint, Ann immediately noticed that the walk-in pantry dominated CONTINUED >

the kitchen. While it provided plenty of storage, it also consumed prime space and created large areas of dead space. “By removing it and replacing it with a large built-in cabinet with rollouts, we were able to provide the same amount of storage, increase the counter space on either side of the cooktop and enlarge the island,” Ann explained.
Another impactful change was rethinking how storage worked throughout the kitchen. Using drawers for base cabinets, along with rollouts and tray dividers in tall cabinets, made everything more accessible and easier to use.
For Cheryl, the transformation went beyond layout. “We love that our new kitchen is so bright!” she shared. “I love all the pullouts, the depth of the cabinets and the combination of small appliances and pantry cabinets. There’s also more counter space, and we made our island a foot longer. I’m loving all the space!”
Ann chimed in, “The overall feel is like a breath of fresh air, which absolutely improves how the kitchen works for Mike and Cheryl.”
Behind the scenes, Bloom Kitchen works with a trusted, vetted team of tradespeople who share values around communication, trustworthiness and quality. Before construction begins, designers, contractors and homeowners meet to review the full plan, ensuring everyone is aligned.
Seeing the plan laid out through drawings, samples and renderings helps homeowners understand what’s possible before construction begins. It also means decisions are made thoughtfully and up front, rather than on the fly while work is underway. That clarity reduces stress, delays and costly change orders.
Sometimes, the hardest part of a remodel is getting unstuck. A design/build approach offers homeowners a clear plan, thoughtful guidance and the confidence to finally move forward.

A Note from Amy Hayes, Founder of Bloom Kitchens
One of the things I am most proud of at Bloom Kitchens is our team. Every member brings her own expertise, creativity, and perspective. Most of us are moms, and all of us are women and professionals who understand the realities of life in a home while balancing work we love. That lived experience is a powerful and insightful perspective we bring to both the design and construction process. Together we approach each project thoughtfully, combining design insight with practical know-how to create spaces that are beautiful, functional, and tailored to real life. What matters most to me is the process itself. Walking alongside our clients, solving challenges together, and shaping a space that reflects both their lives and our shared vision makes every project meaningful. @KITCHENSBYBLOOM

WHERE THE LIGHT LIVES
Some works of art don’t simply hang on a wall. They settle in. They become part of the rhythm of a home.
For local landscape photographer Phil Castagneri, that quiet permanence is exactly the point. His work, rooted in patience, light, and a deep reverence for nature, is less about capturing a scene and more about preserving a feeling. One that can be returned to again and again.
The photograph featured here was captured at sunrise in Roxborough State Park, a place known for its dramatic red rock formations and stillness in the early morning hours. Phil arrived before the sun, hiking out to an overlook as the light slowly revealed the landscape. Soft, warm hues moved across stone and greenery, transforming a familiar Colorado setting into something almost meditative.
Now, that moment lives inside the home of Jon and Marie Rowe.
“What drew us to this photograph was the amazing contrast of colors,” the Rowes share, pointing to the way the morning light accentuates the red rock against fresh spring greens. Having relocated to Colorado from Southern California in the early 1990s, the image felt like a visual distillation of what first drew them here. “Looking at it is like viewing nature at its best, as though through a picture window.”
Printed at 24 by 36 inches with a satin finish and mounted to aluminum, the piece carries a quiet presence. It does not demand attention, yet it consistently rewards it. For the Rowes, it has become one of their most cherished works of art. “We have never tired of admiring it,” they say. “It feels at home in any room and always adds something to the atmosphere.”
For Phil, seeing his work live inside a home carries its own kind of significance. While a gallery wall may be a dream for the future, there is something deeply meaningful about knowing an image is woven into everyday life. Passed by daily, admired quietly, and lived with over time.
As president of the Broomfield Photography Club and a member for over sixteen years, Phil remains deeply connected to community, mentorship, and the shared joy of creative growth. His landscapes reflect that same spirit. Grounded, generous, and quietly powerful.
Because when local art finds its way into a home, it doesn’t just decorate a space. It tells a story about where you live, what you value, and the moments you choose to keep close.

Care that feels like family.
Locally owned and rooted in Broomfield, In Memoriam offers simple, dignified funeral and cremation services—without pressure or hidden fees. Whether planning ahead or facing a loss, we walk with you through life’s most tender moments, 24/7.

For Brian and Jill Forman, service is the lens through which they view their lives, their work and their community. That perspective became firmly planted in Broomfield, where they chose to raise their family. With two children who attended Broomfield High School and careers rooted in the community, the Formans experienced firsthand the support and connection in the community.
“Having received so much in what feels like a small town, giving back is incredibly important to us,” said Brian.
That spirit is what led Brian to the Broomfield Rotary Club. Brian and Jill have been small business owners in Broomfield for the past 22 years. They owned one of the first businesses in the Carriage Houses in front of The Chateaux. After stepping away from 27 years in physical therapy, Brian began looking for opportunities to serve across a wide range of community needs. The Rotary’s broad reach immediately stood out. Whether supporting FISH, A Precious Child, FRIENDS, the Senior Resources of Broomfield or Imagination Library, the Rotary offers endless opportunities to meet real needs in the community that has given so much to the Forman family.
Homegrown LEADERSHIP

This summer, Brian will step into the role of Rotary president, following in the footsteps of local leaders who have shaped Broomfield for decades.
The Broomfield Rotary dates back to 1958, and Brian feels deeply connected to that history with so many who gave generously of their time and leadership to build the community that exists today. As president, he hopes to honor that legacy while also opening the door wider, especially to younger residents who may not yet realize how powerful it can be to invest in the place they call home.
That same “service above self” mindset carries into Brian and Jill’s work through Forman Homes, Keller Williams Preferred. For them, real estate is simply another way to serve.
Brian and Jill approach real estate not as a transaction, but as a relationship grounded in education, trust and genuine care. Together, they guide clients through important decisions, such as long-term housing plans and how real estate fits into retirement, especially for older adults navigating major life transitions. Drawing on Jill’s background as a former teacher and Brian’s experience in physical therapy, they bring a shared, people-first mindset— one that’s patient, thoughtful and holistic. At the heart of their work is a commitment to serving others during some of life’s most meaningful moments.
One example of this commitment is a series of seminars that they are currently planning with local recreation centers for older adults, focused on transitioning wealth through real estate holdings. It’s another way to help neighbors think ahead, feel confident and stay rooted in their community.
For Brian, the Rotary is where that commitment comes together—connecting people, responding to needs and strengthening the community he and Jill are proud to call home.

FROM FINGERPRINTS TO FRESH MOUNTAIN VIEWS, SEE HOW BROOMFIELD’S NOCO WINDOW CLEANING ELEVATES HOME LIVING.
FRESH PERSPECTIVES
These days, home is more than a place to land at night. It's where work, family, creativity, and everyday life now share the same address. When the dining room becomes a boardroom and the living room a classroom, the atmosphere quietly shapes our mood each day.
ARTICLE BY KEVIN GETZ | PHOTOGRAPHY BY SARAH DAWN PHOTOGRAPHY

It seems we are constantly picking up the house, running the vacuum, and loading the dishwasher. We paint the family room and have the carpets cleaned in an effort to create an atmosphere of peace. Yet there is one element of the home most of us forget entirely:
The windows.
“With a full-time job, a family, and lots of activity at home, time is precious,” says Jamie Chavez, a Broomfield mom who works remotely full-time. “I try to stay on top of maintaining a sanitary home, especially with little ones, but cleaning windows, especially the exterior and screens, is a big job.”
Her reaction is a familiar one. Who has time to climb ladders, scrub screens, and buy the tools to tend to every window track, while risking injury, just to remove the fingerprints and dog noses that magically reappear overnight?
That’s where professionals like NoCo Window Cleaning come in. Founded in 2020 by Anthony Rivera, the company has built a loyal following by turning an overlooked chore into a transformational experience.
“It sounds simple,” Rivera says, “but clean windows change the way a home feels.”
And he’s right.
A clean window allows more sunlight to pour into your home. Why not take advantage of Broomfield’s three hundred-plus days of sunshine each year? Especially in winter, when people are more likely to stay indoors, sunlight through a window may be their best chance at a healthy dose of vitamin D. And gazing out at the mountains through crystal-clear glass would certainly help you make it through that afternoon Teams meeting. So don’t let dirty windows be the reason you keep the blinds closed and miss that fabulous view.
Extra sunlight aside, just being in a clean environment makes you feel better.
“There’s something instantly calming and uplifting about looking through freshly cleaned windows,” explains Jamie, “it makes the whole home feel brighter, more open, and more peaceful. With kids running around and a busy schedule, having that clarity and light come through brings a sense of order and calm that I really value.”

That sense of calm and clarity isn’t just emotional. Anthony notes that clean windows can leave a home with the same quietly indulgent feeling as a freshly washed family car.
“You know how you feel pampered, and the car seems to drive a bit faster, right after you run it through the car wash? Getting your windows cleaned can have that same effect.”
People too often overlook their window screens, though cleaning them lets far more fresh air in and keeps dust and pollen out, just in time for spring. “You replace the filter in your furnace,” adds Anthony, “the screen is the filter in your window.” Combine that with cleaning the tracks for smoother operation, and you are more likely to open a window in the first place.
“I find myself pulling back the blinds first thing in the morning to let the light in, it really sets the tone for the work day, and I’m more likely to open up the windows for airflow now that everything looks and feels so clean,” Jamie beams.
Besides the health benefits of regularly cleaning your windows, there are practical benefits as well. More sunlight can help heat your home in the winter, which is always a bonus. Dust and grime left on the windows can scratch the glass over time, especially on windows that repeatedly get splashed from a leaking gutter or a sprinkler, like a basement window, reducing the lifespan of the window. Creepy crawlies, like spiders and insects, like to make their homes around neglected windows or ones hidden by bushes and trees.
“Let us crawl into that window well and deal with those nasty things,” offers Anthony.
If you are a do-it-yourselfer, Anthony offers a few tips for cleaner windows, keeping in mind that climbing up and down ladders is a dangerous activity and not to be taken lightly.
“A little Dawn dishwashing liquid goes a long way and works better than Windex in most cases. Grab a handful of soft microfiber towels and use some for washing and some for drying.

“YOU REPLACE THE FILTER IN YOUR FURNACE,” ADDS ANTHONY, “THE SCREEN IS THE FILTER IN YOUR WINDOW.”
Many people find that easier than using a squeegee,” he advises. “And no, just getting out the hose and spraying your windows doesn’t work.”
With a regular window cleaning schedule, you’ll see the mountains more clearly, breathe more deeply, and soak up every last bit of vitamin D. That’s a home, and an office, that feels as good as it looks.

“You know how you feel pampered, and the car seems to drive a bit faster, right after you run it through the car wash? Getting your windows cleaned can have that same effect.”

The Fresh Start

ARTICLE BY HEATHER SPINKS
There’s something about this fresh, ethereal feeling that not only melts away the last traces of winter but also sparks a quiet urge to refresh our surroundings. The cupboards that need decluttering, the baseboards that have gone untouched for months, the unworn clothes that no longer serve us—it all calls for renewal. This is the essence of spring cleaning: clearing out the old to make space for the new, both in our homes and in our minds.
For some, the idea of cleaning feels anything but peaceful. The thought of tackling clutter and dust can be overwhelming, turning what should be a refreshing transition into a dreaded chore. That’s why we’ve created a simple, practical guide to help you navigate spring cleaning with ease, turning it into a rhythmic, intentional process that mirrors the calm of the season itself.
Week 1: Refresh and Declutter
• Open windows for fresh air and let the natural light in.
• Declutter surfaces—countertops, coffee tables and shelves—removing anything unnecessary.
• Go through kitchen cabinets and toss expired pantry items and mismatched containers.
• Sort through closets, donating or repurposing clothes you haven’t worn in the past year.
• Wipe down baseboards and dust ceiling fans, light fixtures and vents.
Week 2: Deep Clean and Rejuvenate
• Wash windows and mirrors to welcome in the sunlight.
• Deep clean the fridge and pantry, wiping down shelves and organizing items.
• Launder curtains, cushion covers and throw blankets.
• Vacuum and shampoo rugs and carpets for a fresh start.
• Rotate and flip mattresses; wash all bedding, including pillows.
Week 3: Outdoor and Seasonal Transitions
• Sweep porches, patios and outdoor furniture, preparing for warm-weather gatherings.
• Check gutters and downspouts to ensure proper drainage.
• Tidy up gardens and potted plants, removing dead leaves and refreshing the soil.
• Store winter coats and boots, making space for lighter spring essentials.
• Replace seasonal decor—bring in fresh flowers, soft pastels and airy textures.
Week 4: Finishing Touches and Maintenance
• Touch-up scuff marks on walls and doors.
• Stock up on cleaning supplies to maintain a fresh environment.
• Set a simple weekly cleaning routine to keep your home feeling refreshed.
• Light a scented candle or diffuse essential oils to celebrate your clean, peaceful space.
