FALL FASHION WITH IV Y CALVERT WHAT MADE YOU WANT TO BECOME A STYLIST? TELL US ABOUT YOUR FASHION JOURNEY!
I’ve loved putting outfits together since I was a kid—it always felt like solving a puzzle that helped people come into sharper focus. I started college as a Fashion Marketing major but took a sharp left turn. After earning two music degrees and working as an opera singer, I found myself drawn back to style. I started at Stitch Fix, where I saw how many women weren’t just looking for more clothes—they were craving guidance. That led me to apprentice with an established stylist in D.C., and eventually launch my own business as a stylist. Styling blends my two great passions: fashion (obviously!) and people. While part of my job is knowing where to shop and staying on top of trends, what I really offer is strategy. I teach clients how to recognize great fit, curate a well-balanced wardrobe, and put together outfits for everything from a conference to a creative retreat. I’ve come to believe that style is never surface-level. It’s a tool to help you become the most magnetic version of yourself, and my job is to help you get there, starting with your closet.

WHAT ARE THE KEY TRENDS YOU’RE SEEING FOR THIS FALL SEASON?
Fall 2025 is all about intentional contrast and rich, grounding textures. Think structured tailoring—blazers, trench coats, suiting—paired with cozy, tactile layers like cashmere cardigans and even twin sets. Rich burgundies, deep browns, and charcoals are everywhere. I’m also seeing a boho resurgence—led by brands like Chloé—featuring flowy silhouettes, embroidery, long pendant necklaces, and lots of suede. Texture is also big this season. Elevated basics are showing up in tweed, leather, and with fringing. There’s also a growing shift toward longevity—trends are leaning more timeless, more wearable, and more personal. This is the season to bring out your meaningful pieces with a story. Have a silk scarf from your grandmother? Pull it out. I’ll be wearing a vintage Rolex from my great-grandmother on repeat this season.

“This is the season to bring out your meaningful pieces with a story.” HOW CAN PEOPLE TRANSITION THEIR SUMMER WARDROBE PIECES INTO FALL OUTFITS?
As a stylist, I strongly believe the majority of your wardrobe should be three- to four-season. These are the anchor pieces— like a white t-shirt, striped button-down, or your favorite jeans—that you can wear year-round. As we move into fall, use those pieces as your foundation and build layered looks with fall textures like knits, leather, or wool. One easy approach is to layer a cropped sweater over a summer dress, or pair long, tailored shorts with knee-high boots. Add a blazer or a structured jacket, and suddenly your warm-weather pieces feel entirely new. Thoughtful styling is key when transitioning your wardrobe for the new season. CONTINUED >

WHAT IS ONE THING THAT EVERYONE SHOULD HAVE IN THEIR CLOSET FOR FALL?
A great layering jacket—like a relaxed blazer, cropped trench, or chore coat—instantly makes you feel put together and gives structure to softer pieces. It’s the kind of item that makes even a t-shirt and jeans feel intentional.

WHAT FALL ARTICLE OF CLOTHING IS WORTH SPLURGING ON?
Boots. You’re going to wear them on repeat, and a wellmade pair adds polish and versatility to every look. I love a tall boot paired with midi dresses or skirts, and a great ankle bootie with trousers and denim. If you don’t already have a classic black ankle boot in your wardrobe, start there—it’s the ultimate fall workhorse.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE PART ABOUT FALL FASHION?
Fall is a season of return – we head back to our routines but with fresh eyes and perspectives. It’s a time to recalibrate, refine, and lean into intention. Along with the deepening of color palettes, the cozy layers, and the ability
to mix textures, my favorite part about fall fashion isn’t the trends, it’s the opportunity to approach your wardrobe with fresh intention. I love helping clients step into a more grounded, magnetic version of themselves, and fall invites us to do just that by expressing the complexity of who we are through style. I love every part of that!
WHAT DO YOU WISH MORE WOMEN UNDERSTOOD ABOUT STYLE?
“I’VE COME TO BELIEVE THAT STYLE IS NEVER SURFACELEVEL. IT’S A TOOL TO HELP YOU BECOME THE MOST MAGNETIC VERSION OF YOURSELF, AND MY JOB IS TO HELP YOU GET THERE,
So many women think they need to “fix” themselves before they can be stylish—but I believe your wardrobe should support you now, exactly as you are. SERENITY MEETS SOPHISTICATION AT PENINSULA AT WILSON LAKE
Just under two hours from the heart of Nashville, tucked along the tranquil shores of Wilson Lake in north Alabama, a new vision for lakeside living is taking shape. Welcome to the Peninsula at Wilson Lake, where natural beauty, thoughtful design, and highend amenities come together to create an experience that will be enjoyed for generations to come. The Peninsula at Wilson Lake is more than just a place; it’s a lifestyle. Nestled within a beautiful gated community, this upcoming development redefines what it means to own a weekend lakehouse by seamlessly combining luxury with the serene beauty of nature. From gorgeous lakefront views to thoughtfully designed homes, the Peninsula offers an escape where peace, privacy, and convenience coexist. Whether seeking solitude or a conveniently located lakehouse, this community offers the best of both worlds. The surrounding land provides a sense of calm and seclusion while still keeping residents within reach of modern-day amenities. There will be no shortage of resort-style luxuries available. With plans to create a world-class fitness center, steam room, sauna, cold plunge, community activity centers, zip lines, and community boat docks, all of these activities are created to enhance the residents’ lifestyle and will be modified based on community feedback and development needs. “It’s lake living that’s headache-free,” Developer Roger Brown says. Not to mention, the prestigious Turtle Point Yacht & Country Club is conveniently located next door to the development. Turtle Point offers its members world-class golf, a marina, and family-centered activities, making it a fantastic addition to the Peninsula’s residents’ lifestyle. Just across the water is the Robert Trent Jones, Jr Golf trail, two 18-hole world-class courses within minutes of The Peninsula at Wilson Lake. “We challenge anyone to find a lakefront community that is minutes away from restaurants and grocery stores, that you can play 3 world-class golf courses and be on a body of water that only fluctuates 2.8 feet per year, not to mention the massive size of the lake,” Roger says. “This is one of the only family communities under two hours from Nashville.” What sets the Peninsula apart isn’t just the views or the amenities, it’s the intention behind every detail. From the thought behind each homesite to the long-term community planning, every element has been crafted with care, ensuring residents enjoy not only scenic surroundings but a deep sense of connection, comfort, and quality. This isn’t just a place to stay for the weekend; it’s a place to belong. Roger first acquired this gorgeous stretch of land - an impressive 115 acres – back in 2004. At the time, he had no idea just how the property would evolve. Now, Brown’s investment is transforming into something truly extraordinary. “I fell in love with the land over 20 years ago,” Roger explains. “We bought the land. We didn't really know what to do with it. We thought about building our own personal house on it, and over that time, we found the right land planner and then the right engineers, and we created the Peninsula at Wilson Lake.” With the first residents expected to move in by January 2027, development at Peninsula of Wilson Lake is already well underway, as the moving dirt started late August. The community is currently in Phase One, which includes the creation of 88 thoughtfully planned homesites. The goal was to sell 6 million lots prior to starting construction, and now they are past 11 million in sales. It has been overwhelming the response they have had to this family community. The Peninsula at Wilson Lake is also a quick weekend trip from Nashville. "You can leave your house on Friday, pick up your kids after school at 3:00, be at your lake house by 5:00, and on the water by 5:30,” Roger points out. “Then on Sunday, you could hang out most of the day before driving home." Anticipated to be completed in early 2027, Peninsula at Wilson Lake promises to be well worth the wait. For those with patience and vision, something truly special awaits, where unforgettable memories will be made, year after year. For more information and to see the available homesites, visit their website. peninsulaatwilsonlake.com

Lovebirds and Songbirds MEET MARRIED MUSIC DUO GOLDPINE
Married lovebirds and songbirds Ben and Kassie Wilson will be celebrating the release of their next album at City Winery on December 14th at 7 p.m. You won’t want to miss it. Their new album, titled “Three,” came out in August. The album is unique in that it includes tapings from live shows so you can get the whole atmosphere, enjoying the music as if you were present. “This new album is just an extension of what we do in our live shows. It was all about trying to capture the live energy that you will experience in an intimate venue,” says Ben. Ben and Kassie met at church 18 years ago and have been married for 16 years. Both had moved to Nashville from their hometowns; Kassie from Somerville, Alabama, and Ben from Oskaloosa, Iowa. They both share a passion for music and hit it off from the start. So, they started the band Goldpine together. The band consists of Ben and Kassie, who both sing in duet. Ben plays acoustic and electric guitar as well as a suitcase drum, which is “perfect for travel.” Kassie plays harmonica, MIDI keyboard, and tambourine. The vocals are strong, confident, and spirited. Ben describes their style as “aggressive Americana.” Goldpine isn’t just a name—it’s a symbol of where they have been and where they are headed. "Pine" is a nod to their roots—Kassie grew up on Pines Road surrounded by the kind of grit, grace, and grounding that shapes a soul. "Gold" represents the refining fire: the challenges and hardships that mold us into something stronger, more

resilient, and more honest. Together, Goldpine is a word they created to carry the weight of their story—a blend of past and future, of holding on and growing forward. Their music reflects that spirit: raw, real, and rooted. Goldpine plays concerts and stages of all kinds, from singing the national anthem at Arrowhead Stadium before the Kansas City Chiefs football game to house shows, which you can book through their website. The appeal of house shows is that they can connect with their audience and share a great time with people who enjoy listening and experiencing music as much as they love playing music. Although, a crowd of 70,000 plus at a stadium is also an honor. Up and coming, Goldpine will be an official showcasing artist at the 25th annual musical festival, Americanafest, this September in Nashville. They play festivals all across the country and won the 2022 Rocky Mountain Songwriter Contest. Goldpine not only brings creative music to their listeners, but they have also made a deep impact on people’s lives. They’ve led and participated in several mission trips to Africa and Rwanda, and currently sponsor three children through ministries they support, "His Chase” and the “Benjamin House.” The band’s goal is to “shed some light into the world and be a blessing to other people.” Fittingly, Goldpine has two other albums out called “One” and “Two.” You can find Goldpine music on all streaming platforms. To receive the album on vinyl or CD, check out their website. Goldpinemusic.com

Since the dawn of time, the concepts of home and family have been intertwined. Families need the centering that homes can provide, and homes are just hollow structures without families to fill them with love and joy. Just as families grow and change, so do trends behind home styling. Looks and features that were commonplace just a few years ago often begin to look old and dated as new designs come along. Two of the most important of elements of home style are windows and doors. The right combination of doors and windows can enhance homeowner enjoyment while simultaneously elevating the curb appeal and resale value of every property. When choosing new or replacement doors and windows, it is essential to choose a vendor who understands the desires and the budget of the homeowner. Usually, the best option is to work with a local company. Fortunately, Middle Tennessee is blessed with such a firm – Pella Windows & Doors of Nashville. Pella is one of the most respected companies in the windows and doors business, celebrating its 100th year in business during 2025. Pella Windows & Doors of Nashville has been around for over 50 years, and it has been owned by Ben Talbot and his family for over six years. “I’ve always loved the construction industry, and I always knew that Pella is one of the most recognized brands in the window and
door industry,” says Ben. “I joined the company in 2004, and over the years I spent time in both operations and sales and developed a great appreciation for all aspects of the customer experience. I became the general manager in 2010, and I had the opportunity to purchase the company in 2019.” Pella is capable of handling new construction and upgrades for all types of structures, from residences to commercial buildings. Their products are at the forefront of the construction industry, featuring timeless and modern designs, energy efficiency and long-term durability. “We specialize in high-end window and door solutions for both new construction and replacement projects,” says Ben. “Our services include design consultation, product selection and professional installation. windows, a multifamily or commercial development or a custom new build, we have products and services for every application.” One unique aspect of Pella’s operation is its personal approach toward working with customers. From the moment they walk into the showroom doors, they are guided through a collaborative process to ensure that their dreams are achieved. “We start by understanding the customer’s vision, needs and budget,” says Ben. “From there, we walk them through product options, provide them with detailed
quotes and coordinate the project with our fulfillment teams. Once everything is approved, we schedule installation with our trusted crews, ensuring constant communication and quality control throughout the process.” Pella’s internal design team keeps a constant watch on emerging design trends and materials to ensure that every customer has access to the latest in door and window technologies. From traditional windows and doors to fully automated solutions, the Pella team can deliver. “In 2025, large expanses of glass and minimal frames are in high demand – especially for homeowners wanting to blend indoor and outdoor living,” says Ben. “There is also a growing interest in energy-efficient glass, smart home integration and security features built into doors and windows.”
Along with its dedication to customer satisfaction, the Pella Windows & Doors of Nashville team is also committed to the pursuit of a higher calling – taking care of people “While we’re known for selling windows and doors, we believe our greater purpose is serving people,” says Ben. “Internally, we’ve invested in a full-time wellness coach to support the well-being of our team. We’ve also established a philanthropy committee to ensure we’re actively supporting local nonprofits and giving
back in meaningful ways. It’s part of our culture – one rooted in faith, family, and a desire to make a positive impact beyond the job site.” If you are in the market for new or replacement doors and windows, it’s time to go see Pella, where family takes care of family. TIPS FOR CREATING BEAUTIFULLY REFRESHED ROOMS ARTICLE BY SUE BALDANI A fresh coat of paint is a great way to update any room, but it’s not always as easy as people think. Specific steps need to be followed to get that professional finish. Here, Dylan Ritter, owner, along with his wife, Scout Turner, of CertaPro Painters of Nashville and Middle TN, provides some expert tips to achieve that perfect look.

TOOLS
Determine the right rollers and brushes needed. If you have textured drywall, you'll need a heavier nap roller to fill in the paint and achieve a uniform finish in the texture. If it's a smooth wall, you’ll want a very low nap roller. Brushes can be synthetic or horse hair, and if there are a lot of angles in the trim, you’re going to need an angled brush. Other tools include a ladder, putty knives, a level, drop clothes, paint stirrers, roller pans, and a pencil. Lasers are great for trimming out lines.
PREPARATION
First, inspect the room to see what items need to be removed. Items that cannot be removed need to be adequately covered. Then, determine which floor covering will be best. Carpet would need a drop cloth, while hardwood would need a thicker type of board covering. Next, to make sure the paint will adhere properly, clean any debris on the walls or trim. For cobwebs, a simple towel will do, but if you have any greasy stains, you’re going to need an effective cleaner, such as TSP. Once that’s done, sand areas with failing paint, and caulk any exposed or failing joints in baseboards, crown molding, or windows. Use drywall mud to fill in any nail holes and skim coat uneven walls. While that’s drying, use painter’s tape to tape off the trim.
PAINTING
Even though many paints now include primer, you should still prime raw wood areas, high-traffic areas, water stains, mildew, and anything else that could potentially bleed through the newly applied paint. There are many different types and brands of paints. It’s essential to determine whether the room you’re painting is a high or low traffic area, and to also know the aesthetic you’re looking for. For example, do you want a high sheen or a low sheen? As far as brands, we use Sherwin-Williams®. Before pouring the paint into the roller pan, attach a spout to the can, preferably one with a filter. We also use a bucket grid. It captures any debris that you may have picked up from transferring paint to the pan, then from the pan to the roller. While professionals typically don’t use them, pan liners make clean-up a lot easier.
46
D E C OR T R E N D S | HO M E + D E SIGN
Before pouring, also make sure the paint is thoroughly mixed. If you bought the paint that day or the day before, you can just stir it with a wooden stick. But if you bought it, say, a month ago, I would recommend bringing it back to the store and having it shaken in the machine. The order in which to paint would be ceilings first, then walls, and lastly, trim. If you cannot finish a room in one day, ensure you complete one wall corner to corner so there’s no visible transition. Also, be sure to put the paint back into the original can and hammer down the lid. Clean all of the brushes so you can reuse them, and wrap the rollers in plastic.
CLEAN UP
When finished with the entire job, thoroughly clean the brushes and rollers. Remove floor coverings and wait at least four to six hours before moving furniture back in. Before hanging anything on the walls, wait 24 to 48 hours. Then, sit back and enjoy your beautifully refreshed room. CertaPro.com/NashvilleSouth/

How One Woman is Redefining Formalwear in Middle Tennessee ARTICLE BY MYRA MCENTIRE PHOTOGRAPHY BY CHRISTY HUNTER
Deborah Wiggins' grandmother founded The Clothes Tree in Birmingham, Alabama, 60 years ago, with the intent to help dress the professional woman and mother of brides. It evolved through the years, and Deborah opened the second location in Middle Tennessee three years ago, selling luxurious, high-end gowns and eventwear. “It was always on my bucket list to have another store, and Brentwood is where I wanted to be.” Thanks to one of her sales reps, she found the perfect place. “On the back wall was a painting of a tree, which was the very first tree logo my grandmother used when she started her store. I thought, ‘That's it, that's my sign, this is where I want to be.” As the boutique in Birmingham evolved to include a focus on formalwear, The Clothes Tree in Brentwood has its own unique flair/flavor. “We love Brentwood and the surrounding communities, and we want to help them dress for events that are important to them,” says Deborah. “We have found our niche in formalwear. We do a lot of pageants, proms, homecoming, and bridal events.” While customers can purchase carefully chosen selections available at the store, Deborah says, “We also do a lot of couture. We bring in designers from different vendors that we carry. One of our top designers is Jovani. They create and design one-of-a-kind pieces alongside the customer. It’s cool for our customers to see their style come to life, combining all the things that they know they're

looking for when they're shopping, but they can’t quite find that one thing that they want.” Working with a designer, whether for a wedding, pageant, gala, or a homecoming celebration, can allow customers to create their dream gown. “Customers can bring a picture of this, a picture of that, and then, with the help of our staff and the designer from New York, we have a lot of fun getting together and creating exactly what they want.” While she’s still very hands-on, splitting her time between the Birmingham and Brentwood stores, Deborah trusts her staff. “I have a fantastic team. They can put together anything that anybody needs. They’re so good that I was able to go on a twoweek vacation to Italy and not worry! I’ve never done that before. They care about people. My grandmother instilled in me that customer service is number one.” Deborah is looking forward to many fall events and is especially excited about one in particular. “I connected with Bari Beasley, the President & CEO of the Heritage Foundation, when we came to Tennessee almost three years ago. She’s from Alabama, too. I'm working with the Heritage Foundation ball committee now, preparing for their fall event, The Heritage Ball.” The Heritage Ball keeps the history of historic homes alive, raising money to bring awareness to preservation. “The first group that opened their arms to us and wanted us to be a part of their organization was the Heritage Ball.” When asked how she makes sure that looks aren’t duplicated if she has to dress multiple people for the same event, Deborah says, “We have a log and we keep track of everything.” Whether it’s a homecoming, prom, or an upcoming gala like the Heritage Ball, each event has a page in her store’s system. While Deborah stocks gowns one can’t find in a department store, there are other specialty stores around. If customers want to make sure they don’t see someone else in their dress, she has a fix. “There’s always the option to design something no one else has. If they shop in enough time to consult our designer, then they will definitely will be wearing something that no one else has!" “One thing I love to do, one of my favorite things,” Deborah says, “is to take something in the store that someone comes in to buy and change it up. There are lots of things we can do to make it different. If it’s two shoulders, we make it one, or make it strapless. We might add stoning. We have fantastic alterations people who do miracles.” After the Heritage Ball wraps up, The Clothes Tree will gear up for pageant season. The store is an official sponsor for Miss Tennessee as well as Miss Tennessee USA. “Pageants really brought us to Middle Tennessee. We’re learning a lot, and getting ready for Miss Tennessee and Miss Alabama to go to Miss America.” @theclothestreenashville theclothestreebydeborahtn.com

How the Tate family is giving back to their community.
Local Legend Golden Tate Returns Home to Nashville Golden Tate III’s first football game was in middle school at St. Joseph in the heart of Nashville, where he stunned the crowd by scoring seven touchdowns. After a state record-breaking first season, he was recruited to Pope John Paul II in Hendersonville, where an unnamed booster generously paid for his tuition, changing his life forever. It is also the start of the story of Golden and his wife Elise’s commitment to giving back to the Nashville community, recognizing that someone gave him a helping hand, and wanting to do the same for other kids.

could have done differently, but we are trying to be intentional with our parenting and leave a God-fearing Legacy. In 2014, rooted in American pride and both of their grandfathers’ faithful military service, the Tates founded the Golden Future Foundation to support veterans, their families, and underserved communities. “Collectively, Elise and I have always felt a responsibility to use our platform for something greater than ourselves,” says Golden. “I tend to be the visionary—I have a lot of ideas, some realistic, others maybe a little wild—and Elise is the one who brings those ideas to life with clarity, heart, and incredible execution.” The couple’s ultimate goal is to leave people better than they found them. “Whether it's veterans who’ve sacrificed so much, kids who need a little extra support, or families going through CONTINUED >
Little did the Tate family know that it would one day come full circle. Golden – Nashville’s local star – was recruited by every major college in America. Golden chose the University of Notre Dame, where he excelled both on the football field and the baseball diamond. Tate became the first-ever Biletnikoff Award winner from Notre Dame, unanimously getting every vote, as the best College Wide Receiver in the country. He was also a top 10 contender for the Heisman. He was drafted twice in Major League Baseball, but ultimately chose the NFL and was drafted by the Seattle Seahawks in 2010. After winning the Super Bowl with the Seahawks in 2014, he became a Detroit Lion and Pro Bowler, and later went on to play for the Philadelphia Eagles and the New York Giants. For 5 seasons (2015-2019), Tate held the YAC King title throughout the NFL with 1,003 yards after the catch (nearly doubling Larry Fitzgerald’s 674 YAC in 2nd place). Tate’s athletic and professional accolades continue to mount after retirement, but beyond the trophies, Golden is most proud of his wife and their three children, and their love for Christ. “We are far from perfect, have made countless mistakes, and things we wished we Photo provided

tough seasons—we want to show up for them,” says Golden. “For us, giving back, in any form, is a way to show people God loves them and is here for them.” Elise reflects, “I know our Tate Scholarship for Kids was God’s way of introducing me to Nashville and preparing my heart to eventually move here last summer. Every year, we’d commit a weekend to serve Golden’s hometown, fly in, hold a youth football camp, and provide scholarships to kids to attend Golden’s high school, just as someone once did for him.” After the many visits and scholarships given, the Tates invested in College Grove in 2019, and finally moved their family in June of ‘24. “Our camps in July of 2024 and July 2025 were surreal for us, simply hopping in our car and driving down the road, versus a flight in,” says Elise. “We are so thankful for the opportunity to serve Golden’s hometown and be so close.” But their community service goes beyond an annual scholarship camp. “Elise heads up the majority of our hands-on giving. She is a problem solver, with an enormous heart and love to serve people,” says Golden. “If my wife finds out kids are in need, I just say yes and have learned to just go with the flow to whatever she has up her sleeve. From providing clothing to foster families, to adopting schools every year, ensuring every child has a warm coat before winter, her love to serve others inspires me.” “This past year, with the help of our generous neighborhood and my high school, we collected thousands of coats for Warren Elementary,” he says. “Elise and I personally put coats on every child, and I had to drag her out of there. We also made sure each child who didn’t attend school that day was able to put in a size request, and again with the help of our generous friends and neighbors, shipped those sizes directly to the school.” The Tates’ annual coat drive
started in Detroit when the couple was with the Lions, after Elise learned that school attendance drastically decreased in winter months due to inadequate clothing. They quickly found a solution by adding an annual coat drive to their Foundation’s list of events and have since adopted a school in whatever city they are living in, during the winter months. “It was really special that last fall, the school was just miles away from where Golden grew up,” Elise says. The Golden Future Foundation has been able to support a wide range of causes over the years, with a focus on veterans, animals, children, and their local communities. Their efforts have included helping cover medical expenses and therapy for veterans, organizing the annual “Stars & Strikes” fundraiser around 9/11, and donating coats to those in need, including homeless vets and schoolchildren in cities like Detroit, Ann Arbor, and Nashville. They’ve worked alongside organizations such as IAVA, the Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency, and Pets for Vets, and have even helped sponsor school programs and special events like surprise marriage proposals for active military members. welfare, they’ve fostered and rehabilitated dozens of rescue dogs while partnering with shelters to encourage adoption and responsible pet ownership. They also utilize personal milestones as opportunities to spotlight and give back to kids in need. For example, instead of having parties and a cake to celebrate a gender reveal, they spent that money on a child of the same gender they were blessed with and started a viral nationwide challenge to encourage others to do the same. Thousands of people joined in across the nation and helped local kids; the challenge even made its way to the USA Today show. Within the NFL community, they’ve supported initiatives like sponsoring players to attend Professional Player Outreach, a faith-based conference held annually for NFL athletes. They’ve also partnered with diamond company Ritani to surprise both active-duty military members and veterans with fully covered engagements. Golden and Elise want to share this sense of giving with their children - daughter Londyn and sons Golden IV and Isaiah Michael. “We want them to know that success isn’t just about what you achieve, but how you treat people, how you steward your gifts, and how you show up for the things that matter most,” says Golden. As their children get older, they look forward to going on mission trips and serving alongside them. “Our kids have many privileges that my wife and I certainly did not have growing up. Elise and I come from different paths but share the same core: grit, faith, and a deep love

for family. We hope our children can see the passion and servant hearts we have towards God’s people. We hope they understand that giving to others is much more satisfying than receiving.” The couple also has a lot going on professionally. This year, Golden appeared in the Fox show, Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test, and is currently filming a pilot for a TV show. Elise, with a background in business and 10 years of Tech Sales, in addition to authoring the book, Sign Me Up For A Happy Home, is currently in the middle of building several investment homes. Of course, the busy couple always makes time to foster family togetherness. “Our favorite thing to do as a family has anything to do with water,” says Golden. “We love being in a pool, lake, or ocean.” This year, they went to the Bahamas, where they taught the kids how to wake surf and tube, and recently visited Smith Lake in Alabama. The couple shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon. “Our goal is to model a life that’s full, but grounded — rooted in faith, driven by values, and always making room for love and laughter.” To follow Golden and Elise Tate and to learn more about the Golden Future Foundation, visit the website and check out their social media. O UR TOWN | S HO P P I NG
This fall, Nashville welcomes an exclusive new addition to its retail experience. Nestled in the heart of Wedgewood-Houston at 500 Hagan Street, the Bal Harbour Shops Access Pop-up is bringing a first-of-its-kind, luxury shopping experience to the city. This traveling retail event reimagines high-end shopping, combining world-renowned designer brands with curated experiences. Made up of 30 custom-designed, modular shipping containers, the pop-up spans 17,000 sq. feet and includes covered walkways and a retractable canopy that promises an inviting and comfortable experience. “Opened in 1965 by retail visionary Stanley Whitman, the family-owned Bal Harbour Shops was the first all-luxury fashion center in America featuring high-end retailers in a tropical, openair setting,” Bertrand Auclaire, VP of Omnichannel Retail & Consumers, Bal Harbour Shops and Whitman Family Development, explains. The original Bal Harbour Shops is located in Miami Beach and is a favorite celebrity shopping destination, where it's known for its curated retail as well as the emotional connection to its tenants and customers, acting as the global leader in luxury shopping destinations. This is the first time in nearly six decades that the shopping experience extends its coveted luxury experience beyond Miami, allowing other cities across the country to experience a retail experience unlike any other, and a unique opportunity to access exclusive personal shopping and styling services. “This pop-up takes the best elements of The Bal Harbour Shops’ signature aesthetic and creates a condensed version of Miami’s favorite shopping destination right here in Nashville,” Bertrand says. “The space will be complete with palm trees, ponds, fountains, and planters filled with lush greenery.” Some of the luxury brands featured for the pop-up include Tiffany & Co, Balmain, Valentino, Golden Goose, Wolford, Assouline, Monnalisa, Etro, Johanna Ortiz, Dsquared, Cremieux, Wolford, Isabel Marant, and more. The pop-up will be going on September 12th November 9th, and some of the brands available at the event will be rotating at mid-market after four weeks, introducing new items to the second half of the pop-up through a new retailer's selection. Luxury retailers that will be there for eight weeks will rotate their in-store inventory and offer a curated selection of their current collections. “Not only can shoppers expect access to curated offerings from our featured luxury brands, they can also experience a variety of activations and events that will be hosted throughout the pop-up’s stay in Nashville in an unexpected environment,” Bertrand explains. Shopping isn’t the only reason to visit the Bal Harbour Shops Access Pop-up, as the culinary experience – The Whitman – will be the popup’s onsite full bar and restaurant. The Whitman
offers both indoor and outdoor dining in a stylish setting that accommodates up to 150 guests. Its menu is a blend of Miami flavor and locally sourced ingredients, perfectly created into shareable plates perfect for pairing with a cocktail or enjoying after a luxury shopping experience. Guests can also look forward to The Whitman’s happy hour, a weekly High Tea service, and a weekend brunch served from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., ensuring that no matter what time of day you’re shopping, you can easily refuel with an equally luxurious dining experience. In true Bal Harbour Shops fashion, the pop-up is designed to be more than just a place to shop; it’s a lifestyle destination. From the curated boutiques to the tropical-inspired design touches that are a nod to Miami Beach, visitors will find themselves fully immersed in a world where luxury meets leisure, making it only fitting that this carefully crafted space reflects the brand’s signature elegance. Whether a devoted fashion enthusiast, a curious shopper, or someone looking to experience something new, the Bal Harbour Shops Access Pop-up offers something for everyone. This event is more than just a shopping trip; it’s an invitation to step into the world of luxury. For updates, sneak peeks, and exclusive content, follow along on Instagram.

TRENDY TASTINGS Brentwood Lifestyle sits down to dinner
Fishmonger
Stylish, fresh, and friendly. If you are looking for an intimate and fun setting for a date night, Fishmonger is the place. The portions are hearty and filling. Start with the creamy chowder and a nice refreshing beverage like their celery soda or liquid death peach tea. The menu includes lobster, mussels, tuna melt, and a raw bar, among other options. On the side, the hot brown butter potatoes are a tasty addition to your dinner. The seared Gulf shrimp roll highlights flavors like dill, shallots, herbs, with the house’s own New Bae seasoning. @fishmongernashville
Denim
At the top of the luxury hotel, The Joseph, the Denim rooftop bar and restaurant has a breathtaking view of the city, especially at night. On the 21st floor, the restaurant includes indoor and outdoor seating with cabanas for reservation by the rooftop poolside. Enjoy American traditional dinners like a double cheeseburger and steaming hot fries, or the margarita pizza with fresh basil. For a lighter option, the strawberry and burrata salad with arugula, pistachio crumbles, and strawberries can also include an addition of chicken or shrimp. They have a plentiful list of hors d’oeuvres to choose from. This is a quiet setting for two and great for a cocktail paired with an appetizer. Take in the skyline while sipping a spectacular blend, whichever you like. @denimnashville

Husk
Located in a beautifully refurbished historical home, Husk offers southern cuisine with a modern twist. The executive chef is Bryan O’Kelly, a highlight of Husk. Whether it’s for a weekend brunch or a dinner date with friends, Husk is welcoming and accommodating. For starters, try the hummingbird cake with juicy pineapple bits. The cake is soft and sticky-sweet. Next, the Husk’s cheeseburger is a mouthwatering cheesy double patty, with seasoned fries. For brunch, the johnny cakes are worth a go again and again. The cornmeal cakes are sweet and savory from sorghum, piled high with smoked sausage and local farm eggs. The fried chicken is another great choice. Breaded, crispy, and golden, it is paired with a hot slaw. @husknashville
Kisser
Walking into the restaurant Kisser, I was immediately impressed with the quaint little setting of an open kitchen and minimalist seating. The place was buzzing, and a crowd was waiting outside the door. Kisser is a Japanese café-inspired restaurant. The menu showcases Asian infused selections like sushi, beef tartare, the egg salad sando, the creamy bacon udon, and the top-rated chicken katsu sandwich on homemade milk bread. My experience was truly a chef’s kiss. @kisser_restaurant
Sunda
This trendy modern Southeast Asian restaurant in the heart of Nashville’s Gulch is the place for a proper meal. Upon entering through the rotating doors, I was quickly seated and served in a gorgeous modern setting. Dark, moody, and private, you will feel secluded, but attended to. With their own sushi bar, brunch, and dinner menu, anytime is a great time to visit. Start with the juicy and salty oxtail pot stickers. The many options of dim sum will leave you coming back again to try the next one. @sundanewasian S EP TEMB ER 2 0 2 5 | C I TYL I FE STYL E . C OM/BR E N T WO O D

F E A R L E S S With Life-changing Experiences That Belie His Years, Building A Business Is The Least Of Hunter Wilhelm’s Concerns
72
C UR B A P P E A L | HO M E S ERVICE S
Hunter Wilhelm has the type of fearless exuberance you’d expect from a young business owner. The 26-year-old CEO of landscaping and hardscaping firm Wilhelm Properties greets you with an authentic blend of confidence, competence and charm. “I love what we do; it’s never the same job. There’s something new every day,” says Wilhelm. “That’s what motivates me. We might be doing a landscape job on Concord Road one day and the next we’re going to Franklin to do a hardscape. It’s always something different.” Wilhelm founded the company in 2016 while he was still a student at Brentwood High School. But it didn’t begin as a way to make some side cash, or as a hobby. Unless you count the actual running of a business as a hobby. “I really don’t know where the interest in landscaping came from,” he says. “I just thought I wanted to own and run my own business. I liked it then and I still do. The business aspect – setting goals and then challenging yourself to see if you can beat them or not – is the part that I really enjoy.”
After graduating from Brentwood High, Wilhelm enrolled at UT-Knoxville where he would eventually earn a degree in landscape design with a business minor. But those plans were put on hold. No, he didn’t opt for a gap-year; he was sidelined by a serious medical condition that resulted in a bilateral sequential transplant, otherwise known as a double lung transplant. CONTINUED >

Wilhelm was born with pulmonary hypertension, a condition where the lungs outgrow the body. As a youngster he says he was “in and out of the hospital” several times but, since it’s all he ever knew, he never dwelled on his condition. “I played baseball, I was the manager of the football team at Brentwood and had friends on the team,” he says. “I was totally satisfied with my life and how I was. But by the time I got to my senior year of high school, my condition deteriorated to the point that I couldn’t have a normal conversation without panting or running out of breath.” He had no choice but to have surgery so, when a donor became available, everything else, including his business and college career, had to pause. “I had just graduated from high school, so it was the summer of my rising freshman year at UT,” says Wilhelm. “UT was pretty cool with it, so my freshman year was delayed until 2019.” Once he had recovered and regained his strength, his first semester of college went off without a hitch. That was until the spring semester when the pandemic shut down the world. It was a precarious time for everyone, especially a pulmonary patient. “In the beginning when everyone was making a big deal about it obviously, as someone with a lung problem, there was some concern if I were to get it,” says Wilhelm. “My doctors encouraged me to get the shots when they became available. I got the first but not the second.” Eventually he contracted the disease, but he was asymptomatic. “The only reason I knew I had Covid was because it was Labor Day weekend, and I was going to the lake with my family. My dad is an international pilot for FedEx, so we all got tested and mine came back positive. But I was lucky and did not feel anything.” Wilhelm takes anti-rejection medication but otherwise lives his life with no restrictions. He’s an avid golfer. Upon graduating from UT in 2022, he returned to Brentwood where he was able to devote his attention full-time to Wilhelm Properties. Today the company has two full-time crews: one dedicated to landscaping, the other to hardscapes. “Our plan is to grow the company but we’re not going to force the issue,” says Wilhelm. “We’re going to stay busy, and we’ll add crews as needed.” This time of year, a good portion of the company’s business is derived from aerating and overseeding lawns.

“We also do a ton of plant installs and maintain beds and shrubbery. We plant a lot of mums in October, and November is a great time to install trees and larger shrubs.” Wilhelm says that glory maples, oaks, redbuds, dogwoods and tulip poplar trees are great choices for a Middle Tennessee landscape. Hardscapes can be built at any time of year. However, if you want something in time for next season, now is the time to call to schedule a consultation. “Depending on the scale of the project, the job can take anywhere from a week to two months,” he says. “We have a computer-based design program that provides the homeowner with a realistic rendering of the finished product.” To schedule a hardscape consultation or to inquire about landscaping service, reach out to Wilhelm Properties at 615.484.6854 or send an email to huntertwilhelm@gmail.com.
