The start of a new year is often filled with excitement and a sense of renewal. It’s a time to set new goals, embrace fresh opportunities, and dream about the year ahead. For many, though, January can also bring a sense of pressure—a reminder of resolutions left unfulfilled or the weight of expectations. This issue of Bozeman City Lifestyle was crafted with the goal of offering something different: inspiration for long-term, sustainable improvements in physical, emotional, and mental health. Life isn’t about perfection; it’s about consistency. Whether it’s in business, health, or relationships, it’s not what you do occasionally that makes the difference—it’s what you do most of the time. Consider this: you wouldn’t go on vacation every day, but planning a couple of trips each year is a realistic and restorative goal. Similarly, indulging in a rich dessert from Wild Crumb isn’t an everyday event, but it’s a delicious treat now and then. This year, focus on small, consistent actions that lead to a more balanced and fulfilling life. Join a fitness class, carve out moments for rest, and don’t forget to savor life’s pleasures. It’s the “most of the time” choices that shape our lives. Here’s to a healthy, happy new year—we’re rooting for you! Cheers,

AUTHENTIC AESTHETICS Dr. Connie Hahn has been practicing medicine in Bozeman for eighteen years, becoming a fixture in the community. She started out practicing “full spectrum” medicine including delivering babies, seeing new patients in the ER and following her patients throughout their hospital stays at Bozeman Health. Dr. Hahn developed a reputation for kindness, thoroughness and longstanding relationships. She received her medical degree from Midwestern University’s College of Osteopathic Medicine, completed her residency at University of California, Davis, and is certified by the American Board of Family Medicine.
As of December 31st, Dr. Hahn will be fully retired from Bozeman Health and is working on building what started as a small cottage business providing Aesthetic Medicine to women and men in Montana since 2018. Her passion for helping others, mixed with a long-standing interest in aesthetics, led her to start Esteem Health, where she offers botulinum toxin injections and natural hyaluronic acid fillers to her clients. We sat down with Dr. Connie to learn more about her journey into aesthetics and what about her philosophy and experience sets her apart from other practitioners in the field.
BCL: HOW DID YOU FIRST BECOME INTERESTED IN AESTHETICS?
Dr. Connie: My early childhood was spent in Hollywood. My father was a Hollywood photographer, my mother was a model, and my grandmother was a beautician. I was surrounded by this business and even did some childhood modeling of my own. After obtaining a two-year business degree, I decided to get out and see the world. In early adulthood I was an international flight attendant, lived in the Sierra teaching skiing at Lake Tahoe and competing in amateur international ski racing. In the small village where I was living, CONTINUED >

I befriended my rural family doctor, who became a mentor to me. I decided I wanted to follow in her footsteps at the age of 39 years old! When I told my family that I wanted to go to medical school, they thought I was from another planet. Their idea of my future was taking the domestic route, settling down and getting married. Although that did happen, my new husband, Chris, was very enthusiastic
MY TAGLINE IS, “EVERYONE DESERVES TO FEEL BEAUTIFUL AND CONFIDENT”. I HOPE [MY CLIENTS'] FRIENDS, THEIR SPOUSE, THEIR FAMILY SAY, “WOW, YOU LOOK SO REFRESHED TODAY!”

that I follow this dream. Being a wife and mother is a very high calling, and one I highly respect, but my aspirations were leading me in a new direction. I ended up going to medical school and pursued this dream all the way to Bozeman. However, because of my family background, I always held on to my interest in aesthetics, observing facial structure and what makes them societally and culturally attractive as well as what makes some people more attractive and confident from the inside. So, when aesthetic medicine started to become a more established field of practice it was a natural direction for me to follow, and I gained my certification from the National Institute of Aesthetic Medicine (NIMA) during spring of 2018. Beyond this certification, I shadowed an anesthesiologist friend in Reno NV, learning his tricks and tips in creating beauty, beyond formal education.
MY EXPERIENCE AND PROFESSIONAL RELATIONSHIPS PLAY A BIG ROLE IN THIS. I GET TO KNOW MY CLIENTS’ NEEDS OVER TIME AND CAN HELP THEM DISCOVER WHAT OTHER SERVICES MIGHT BENEFIT THEIR GOALS.
BCL: TELL US A LITTLE ABOUT THE SERVICES YOU OFFER.
DR. CONNIE: My services are very specialized. My main offering is botulinum toxin injections, which are used to disrupt the connection between the muscle and the nerve, helping that muscle relax and therefore softening the lines in the face. I use a brand of injections that that tends to take effect a little faster, as well as last a little longer, although results vary. I’m also very well-trained in fillers, which is quickly becoming an expanding area of my practice. The filler I use tends to provide a more natural look and, again, lasts longer than the average filler. I offer free consultations and spend a lot of time homing in on my client’s desires and expectations. After that, during appointments, we will often talk about the demands in their lives, their families and inner challenges.
BCL: WHAT IS YOUR PHILOSOPHY WHEN IT COMES TO AESTHETICS?
DR. CONNIE: My tagline is, “Everyone deserves to feel beautiful and confident”. I feel like my clients are my walking advertisement. I want them to look very natural. I hope their friends, their spouse, their family say, “Wow, you look so refreshed today!” The other thing I’m passionate about is the cost of aesthetic medicine, because I know it can be expensive, and I’m very sensitive to that. I have an up-front discussion with all my clients to learn about a price range that is comfortable for them, then talk through what they can achieve within that price range. I try to keep my services affordable. My passion is allowing all
clients — not just the wealthy -- the opportunity to feel and look their best.
BCL: HOW DO YOUR ROOTS IN BOZEMAN’S MEDICAL COMMUNITY BENEFIT YOUR CLIENTS?
DR. CONNIE: I am keenly aware of my boundaries as an injector. In Family Medicine, we don’t necessarily specialize, but we are trained to know “much about a lot.” My job is to know my clients’ goals and to set reasonable expectations for what I can provide. I never hesitate to refer clients to other specialists who will be able to help them with needs that my practice doesn’t cover. One of the advantages of being a long-term physician in this community and having a background of practicing with so many other professionals in town is that I’ve gained a true understanding of who in the Gallatin Valley fits my philosophies and is particularly outstanding at what they do. I have referred my clients to ophthalmologists, plastic surgeons, dermatologists, personal coaches, nutritionists, personal trainers, and more. My experience and professional relationships play a big role in this. I get to know my clients’ needs over time and can help them discover what other services might benefit their goals. And because I usually see clients more than once, I get to hear about their experiences with these specialists and see how that work enhances the work I am doing with them. This provides a comprehensive feedback loop to get clients to their happiest, healthiest, most confident version of themselves. BUMP BARRE AND BEYOND
Pregnancy is a season of transformation— physically, mentally, and emotionally. For women in the Gallatin Valley, Pure Barre Bozeman has become a trusted anchor during this time, offering a safe, strengthening, and supportive workout that adapts to every stage of motherhood. Pure Barre’s method is built on low-impact, strength-based movement that uses small, isometric exercises to target muscles with precision. These tiny, controlled movements look subtle, but they play a powerful role in strengthening the deep core, stabilizing joints, building pelvic floor strength, improving posture, and easing the common aches that come with pregnancy. For expectant and new mothers, this style of movement is not only safe—it’s incredibly effective.

pain—Pure Barre has played a huge role. The instructors help me feel supported and strong every step of the way.” – Mary Rivas Long-time Bozeman members also feel the difference: “Stimulating my deep core before and during pregnancy strengthened my pelvic floor. I stayed consistent with four to five classes a week, and even with complications, I only had to push for 10 minutes. Thank you, Pure Barre.” – Lyndi Kern Another mother shared her experience remaining active through her third pregnancy: “I started Pure Barre a year before getting pregnant with my third girl and was able to continue taking classes all the way up to a week before giving birth. There is no question that I was able to have my smoothest and swiftest delivery due to Pure Barre preparing my body. I worked closely with the instructors to find modifications that engaged my core while protecting my pelvic floor and abdominal muscles. I also had my easiest recovery this time around, and I owe that all to the ladies at Pure Barre. No diastasis recti and my pelvic floor remained strong. I am thankful for every class, and just recently came back for my first class—and it felt like I never left.” – Rachel Ritter

Pure Barre Bozeman’s instructors are known for their hands-on guidance and welcoming energy. With personalized modifications and thoughtful cues, they create an environment where women feel confident moving through all three trimesters, and supported as they return postpartum.
For many new moms, returning to Pure Barre becomes a vital part of postpartum healing: “I loved incorporating Pure Barre during pregnancy. After baby, it became the best mood booster—being around other strong women while rebuilding my strength.” – Alissa Hammond Pure Barre Bozeman isn’t just a boutique fitness studio—it’s a community built on encouragement, consistency, and the belief that women deserve to feel strong at every stage of life. Through pregnancy, postpartum, and beyond, Pure Barre’s thoughtful, low-impact method empowers Bozeman women to move with confidence and reconnect withthemselves, one small movement at a time.
Many Bozeman mothers credit Pure Barre for helping them prepare for labor and recover more quickly: “Pure Barre was the best thing I did for myself during pregnancy. Barre prepped my body for a speedy recovery. I was back in class quickly and felt like myself again. – Ava Kreider Others discover Pure Barre’s impact even after giving birth: “After I had my daughter, my OBGYN recommended Pure Barre to strengthen my abs and pelvic floor. I had no idea the positive impact this studio would have on my mental health. Three years later, I’ve never felt stronger. I’m so grateful to have Pure Barre through my second pregnancy—and for always.” – Kathryn McCullum Because Barre is naturally adaptable, many women stay active right up to delivery: “I’ve been doing Pure Barre for three years, and when I found out I was pregnant, I knew I wanted to keep going. I’ve had zero back

WHERE ALIVENESS BEGINS ARTICLE BY HANNA FINISSI
“Don’t ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive, and go do it. Because what the world needs is more people who have come alive.” —Howard Thurman I first heard this quote during morning meeting at 7:40 a.m. on a Tuesday in November 2014. I was a first-year teacher at a low-income middle school outside Denver, doing what I thought the world needed from me. I’d been afforded a worldclass education and I understood the game-changing factor of access to excellent education. So there I was—teaching middle school special-education math while

simultaneously earning my Master’s Degree— pouring out everything I had. I was overwhelmed, depleted, and calling my mom crying on the way to work everyday. I definitely didn’t feel alive. Movement makes me feel alive. Since elementary school, I’ve always identified as an athlete — someone who feels most at home when I’m moving my body, working toward something, and feeling part of a team. After graduating college (two years of D1 lacrosse, two years of competitive club squash), I found myself a bit directionless. No practices. No teammates. No sense of “what am I training for now?”. That empty, unmoored feeling was what led me to my first meditation retreat. It was the first time I allowed myself to get curious about who I was underneath the layers of identity I had worn like armor. Yes, I was an athlete. Yes, I was energetic, smart, driven, loyal, adventurous. I was a good friend, a loving sister. But… who was I really? What was my purpose? What did my heart want? So I started treating personal growth the way I had always treated sport: with curiosity, discipline, and the kind of quiet, gritty determination athletes know so well. Over time, my heart voice grew louder — dampening the ego voice that critiques your relationships, your “mile time,” your outfit, your everything. Once I realized I could channel my athletic mindset into my inner world —determination, resilience, consistency — I felt a shift. After a really challenging year in my late 20’s, I started training again, but this time it was my heart. I hired coaches, joined retreats, invested in certifications, and spent more and more time with my favorite version of myself. I slowed down. I tuned in. I started asking hard questions about how I spent my time, money, and energy — and whether my life actually aligned with my values. Oh, and, what were my values? What was mine to hold onto from my childhood, and what was mine to create anew? The gaps I found became my training grounds. Like many people, my relationship with my mindfulness practice has ebbed and flowed. I’ve had seasons where I was deeply dialed in — meditating, journaling, making massive changes — and seasons where those practices faded because life got “good enough.” But “good enough” wasn’t alive enough. That’s exactly why I created the Athletic

Soul Collective — for people like me who thrive with rhythm and accountability, who love the cadence of training, and who crave an accessible, consistent way to stay connected to themselves. It’s not about physical movement. It’s about soul movement. It’s your gym for personal growth. My athletic roots deepened even more when my husband, Anthony, and I moved to Montana. We now live in Manhattan, MT with our 6-month-old son, Aldo, and our dog, Pepper. Becoming a new mom while building my business has been quite a ride. I’m constantly navigating the push and pull of work and motherhood, and I’m grateful for both. My heartstrings are tugging me in different directions I deeply love. In Montana, I fell in love with becoming a mountain athlete — learning to trail run, to backcountry ski, to breathe thin ridge-line air, to trust my legs in steep terrain. Embodiment at its finest. And yes, I full-sent it my second summer here: running both The Ridge and The Rut (iykyk). Those mountains brought me closer to myself, to my heart, to new friends, to the version of me I’m proud to introduce to Aldo as he grows up. Being in the mountains makes me feel alive — my favorite version of me — connected, grounded, present. Five years into building Soul Trust Ignite, I feel more alive in my career than I ever have. Not because it’s easy. But because it is meaningful. I feel a joyful buzz after facilitating a workshop for a team — witnessing them connect in ways that will shift how they show up at work. I feel stingy tears when a coaching client has a breakthrough — when their chest softens and something opens. I feel awe watching retreat participants return home changed. And for all the weirdness of social media, I still beam when a member messages me saying a meditation helped them have a courageous, heartfelt conversation. My mission at Soul Trust Ignite is simple: To help YOU ignite your inner wisdom so you can live the life you desire and deserve.
Only YOU can make your best decisions. Together, we practice tuning in instead of searching out there for belonging or approval. Because if you don’t belong to yourself first, you’ll look for validation in every job, relationship, house, workout, and season of life. Everything I create at Soul Trust Ignite is built from our three-part methodology: SOUL — uncover who you are beneath your conditioning, and reconnect with your deepest desires. TRUST — cultivate self-love and inner trust so you can embody your authentic self every day. IGNITE — take aligned action that reflects your inner transformation. Transformational living is an inside-out process. You create the conditions that allow you to spend more time with your favorite version of you — the version that is grounded, vibrant, magnetic, and deeply alive. Your next step? Take one small step into your stretch zone — that sweet space just beyond your comfort — because that’s where growth (and aliveness) happen. If you’re ready to make real, tangible change, I’d love to support you. My 1:1 coaching program, Transform, combines deep inner work with strategic, aligned action. For those who thrive on rhythm and community, the Athletic Soul Collective membership is your home for monthly breathwork journeys, weekly meditations, and reflection tools to help you live with more clarity, intention, and joy. And if you’re part of a company, team, or local organization, you can attend or hire me for a wellness workshop — breathwork, meditation, or culture-building sessions designed to support your people in being more human, more connected, and more fulfilled. When you make space for your team’s humanness, you exponentially increase their happiness (and yes, their profitability, too). Wherever you begin, begin. That one step toward your aliveness matters.

Values
Health
Is the most important key to living a full and healthy life hiding from you? There are many factors to consider when thinking about what constitutes health. The food we eat, exercise, environmental influences, our emotions, and our spiritual awareness are all pillars of health. However, there is one factor that tops the list which often goes unspoken; living in alignment with your value system. Defining values helps a person to structure their life based on personal belief systems by determining what is most meaningful and important to them. From there, a sense of purpose is derived and defined values become tenets from which to live. There are plentiful examples of values, and they vary from person to person. Some examples of values include family, humility, benevolence, leadership, kindness, independence, creativity, and adventure. Our emotions serve to guide us to understanding whether our actions are in alignment with our values. When we live incongruently with our value system, we are betraying ourselves and delivering a subconscious message that we do not matter. Emotions that can come from not living in accordance with our values are based in fear and include anxiety, depression, anger, resentment, and jealousy. Living from a place of fear tends

to foster bad habits such as addictive behavior, poor dietary choices, negative sleep habits, and unhealthy relationships. Physiologically, the natural flow of energy in the body becomes stuck, wreaking havoc in the body physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. From there, symptoms and illness ensue. However, when we love and respect ourselves enough, we will spend our time and energy according to our values and emotions where love becomes more prevalent. Those emotions include gratitude, joy, peace, comfort, connection, trust, and happiness. Living from love leads to a desire, willingness and commitment to engage in activities that fulfill our sense of purpose. By doing so, our body’s energy moves with ease. When our energy flows freely, we feel vital, healthy, purposeful, and joyful. Identifying our values becomes easier when we create space in our lives to understand what brings us meaning in life. Here are five steps to create space to aid in identifying your values:

5. Speak your values out loud
1. Grounding/Earthing I have experienced it myself and I hear so many others share a similar experience, that being in nature is healing. Getting our hands into the earth with gardening, walking along the beach, taking a hike, or even lying in the grass brings an almost indescribable sense of well-being. Connecting with the earth’s electrical charge is thought to aid in pain reduction, modulate the immune system, and reduce inflammation. It also can lead to feeling more centered, allowing us to focus on what is most important to us.
2. Meditation/prayer Setting your intentions in quiet solitude using meditation or prayer provides clarity. Meditation may seem overwhelming, but you can make it simple by not expecting perfection in the process. I suggest finding guided meditations online that grab your attention. Try various guided meditations until you find one that feels right.
3. Exercise In addition to the more obvious benefits of exercise, it temporarily unblocks stagnation thereby creating space for objectivity.
4. Journaling Getting thoughts on paper helps clarify intentions.

There are many benefits to literally speaking our truths and discussing our values out loud with a trusted confidant. Bouncing ideas and having meaningful discussions can help us determine our framework and organize our thinking. Sometimes friends and family may not provide the most objective perspectives and professional counseling or life coaching may be more appropriate, while at other times a friend or family member is the most perfect fit! When we live in alignment with our values, we are honoring ourselves in the most self-loving way. From there, our vibrancy shines to our loved ones, our neighbors and even strangers we see out and about. It becomes not only the best gift you can give yourself, but that of our community. So cheers to 2026, let’s make this the best year yet!

Creating a Better Snowman A Few Tips to Get You Rolling
There’s probably no more quintessential symbol of winter than a snowman. We’ve all seen Frosty and are probably pretty familiar with Olaf. But if you want to install one into your own yard, you’ll have to put a little elbow grease into creating one without the help of world-class animators. Here are some tips to help give your yard a well-dressed frozen sentry sure to turn your neighbors’ heads.
well-packed snowball and get rolling, but don’t just go in one direction. Roll the ball to start accumulating snow, then roll back, then roll in a different direction. Pack and begin to shape your snowball as you go. Reinforce as necessary. Look to use a 3-2-1 ratio for the sections.
Tip 3:
EVEN SNOWMEN CRAVE STABILITY.
Tip 1:
NOT ALL SNOW IS SNOWMAN SNOW. It takes more than a flurry to build a snowman. Heavy, slushy snow won’t work, and if it’s too powdery dry it won’t pack together. If you can pack a good snowball, you can build a snowman. Bonus tip: Dry snow can be modified to workable snowman snow with a quick spritz of water from a spray bottle, or a light mist from that garden hose you really should have already put away for the winter.
Tip 2:
ROLL TOWARDS YOUR GOAL — THE LONG WAY. Decide where to position your snowman and make that your finish line. Start with a
Once you get your base section in place, shore up the bottom with snow. Then at the top, create a bowl-shaped indentation to allow the next section to sit securely. Ensure each section is well-packed with added snow around the “joint” between the sections.
Tip 4:
SNOW IS HEAVY. ENLIST A BUDDY. A willing helper can help lift that heavy next stage into place. You can even roll it onto a tarp and lift from either side to get it up there. A third set of hands can help move it into place. Otherwise, use plywood as a ramp to roll it up yourself (braced well against the bottom with plenty of support underneath, so as to not damage the base). You might need an extra bowl of Wheaties to roll it up there alone.
Tip 5:
PILOT HOLES ARE YOUR FRIEND. Simply jamming details into your snowman can mess with its integrity. Use a sharp stick to gently create some pilot holes for your features before you set them into place.
Tip 6:
GIVE HIM SOME PERSONALITY. There’s always that classic snowman uniform of a scarf, hat, a carrot nose and coal (sure, we all have that lying around these days — river rocks might be easier to get your hands on). Or you could be a bit more creative, maybe with an old oversized Hawaiian shirt, a jazzy vest, or go all-out and channel your inner Martha Stewart, breaking out your Dremel to make something custom for your wintery lawn guest. You might need to use your imagination — not many of us have corncob pipes or top hats anymore, either. Pro tip: if you’re dressing your snowman, put any body clothing you might use on before adding the arms. Just remember. If you mess it up, it’s ok because he’ll be back again some day.
