fall for these musthave wardrobe items TIPS BY MEGAN LARUSSA CHENOWETH OF STYLE YOURSELF CHIC
EVERY SEASON, MY STYLE COACHING CLIENTS ASK ME, “WHAT’S IN STYLE THIS SEASON?!” They find it is empowering to know what’s in and what’s out so that they can shop with purpose, cleanse their closet with ease and have confidence that they look their best. In addition to the trendier items, we always focus on building a collection of foundational basics that are current, flattering and versatile. To help you start thinking about curating your fall wardrobe, I’m sharing five fall must-have items that work for every age, style and body type. These foundational items are the building blocks to creating effortlessly chic outfits for your day-to-day life. Think of these as your blank canvas that you can add your personality to through prints, colors, accessories and more.
Use a third piece to pull together your look

Birmingham Lifestyle | September 2021
Tees are the perfect layering item
JEANS: Skinny, Crop Flare, Wide Leg and Straight Leg all reign supreme right now. Select the silhouette that works best on your body type. But don’t be afraid to try out a new style, as it is an easy way to update your look. TEES: V and scoop-neck tees are universally flattering on all body types. They are the perfect layering item in the fall to wear under any third piece. But let’s not forget they can be a stand-alone garment with this season’s trendier items, like the midi pleated skirt. THIRD PIECES: There’s something magical about having a third piece to pull together your look. A third piece can be a blazer, a denim jacket, a cardigan or a scarf. In selecting a variety of third pieces, know it all boils down to your personal style and what feels most like you.

MUST-HAVE WARDROBE ITEMS (CONTINUED)
DAY AND NIGHT HANDBAGS: A classic leather handbag in a beautiful autumnal color is a wardrobe staple. While black is timeless, why not opt for a rich shade of brown that can be worn with any color in your closet? And don’t forget to change your handbag from day to night! A clutch or small shoulder bag in a metallic, black or even a pop of color looks chic and elevates your outfit for evening. COZY KNITS: Knitwear is always an important staple in the cooler months, but this season it is a big trend too. We are seeing classic fair isles, metallics, sweater dresses and anything with lots of great texture. Select the sweater style that best flatters your figure to ensure it’ll be worn for seasons to come. To learn more about Megan’s work and to enjoy more style tips, visit StyleYourselfChic.com

Cosio approached one of his personal favorite breweries in town, TrimTab, and was greeted with enthusiasm — “They loved the idea of a big, fun festival,” he said. With that, the team started brainstorming what BirmingFam would consist of — certainly great local music, local food, local goods and, of course, local beer, all for the sake of a local cause. And thanks to Framework and TrimTab keeping the whole thing affordable — it costs just $100 to participate as a vendor — BirmingFam is attracting a number of noteworthy artisans and restaurants.
