STYLE Issue

September 2025 PUBLISHER

Fall in Nashville has its own rhythm. The air turns crisp with just enough bite to make you reach for a soft cashmere wrap. The trees trade green for deep gold with shades of red & burnt orange, and the scent of cinnamon-spiced coffee drifts from every corner café. Football season hums in the background— cheers echoing from stadiums and living rooms alike. It’s the season for cozy gatherings, lingering dinners, and those perfect afternoons that start with shopping and end with something bubbly in hand. In Nashville, style isn’t just something you wear—it’s a way of living. And few places capture that spirit better than Belle Meade and Green Hills. Belle Meade has that quiet confidence you can’t fake—boutiques tucked behind tree-lined streets where shopping feels personal. The kind of places where an owner remembers your name, your favorite cut, and just happens to have the perfect piece waiting for you. Green Hills, on the other hand, is a study in variety. The Green Hills Mall is a destination in its own right, with its mix of luxury houses, beloved brands, and those irresistible “just popping in” shops. But the real magic is in the local names making their mark. Bentley Caldwell, a stylist known for impeccable tailoring and refined silhouettes, can transform a wardrobe into something truly timeless. Carson Love, with her stylist’s eye for effortless chic, brings together flirty dresses, polished separates, and those can’t-stop-thinking-about-it pieces that make getting dressed a joy. And Le Studio? A stunningly curated home store that proves style belongs in every corner of life—not just in your closet. After all, the spaces we live in are as much a reflection of our personal style as the clothes we wear. So this fall, in between the Friday night lights, the Saturday tailgates, and the Sunday game-day spreads, take a leisurely afternoon to explore. Belle Meade and Green Hills aren’t just shopping destinations—they’re where Nashville’s style story keeps unfolding.

layers of Le Studio Inside the World of Marie-Joe Bouffard and her storefront Le Studio

Walk into Le Studio in Nashville's Berry Hill neighborhood, and you'll immediately understand the world of Marie-Joe Bouffard. It's not just a design studio. It's not just a store. It's a layered, soulful expression of the founder and principal designer behind JFY Designs. This space merges French-Canadian charm, bold creative vision, and over two decades of highend design experience. Marie-Joe's path to design wasn't linear. Before interiors, she was immersed in the fast-paced world of publishing in Montreal, working as editor-in-chief for a magazine. When she and her husband moved to Dallas, Marie-Joe left that world behind. In a time of transition, she turned her energy inward. "I had always been surrounded by creativity. Growing up, my parents bought and remodeled homes before HGTV made it trendy," she laughs. "So when I found myself at home, I poured everything into transforming our house. My husband would come back from a business trip, and I'd have wallpapered a room or painted something new during my child's nap time."

LOCA L LIM E LIGH T | HO ME + D E SIGN

That passion became a business. At first, Marie-Joe helped neighbors and friends decorate nurseries or refresh tired spaces. But by 2002, she officially launched JFY Designs and has since grown it into one of Middle Tennessee's most trusted luxury design firms, with Nashville projects across Forest Hills, Belle Meade, Green Hills, Leiper's Fork and beyond. Today, she and her team oversee largescale estate builds, multi-generational compounds and turnkey interiors across the country.

But as the firm expanded, her home began to feel more like a conference center than a sanctuary. "There were days I'd have twelve people working out of my house, client meetings happening in my dining room," she recalls. The idea for Le Studio began out of necessity, but quickly evolved into something more meaningful. She needed a dedicated space for her team and clients, as well as a place to store all the curated pieces for her growing number of projects.

"We were storing tons of curated pieces—throws, art, dishes, vintage accessories—in separate storage units all over town," she says. "I dreamed of one beautiful, functional space that could house all of it. A working studio, where everything we needed was under one roof. And if it was going to be beautiful, why not open it to clients? And then, why not the public?" Marie-Joe reflects. That vision came to life in a charming building that once served as a recording studio in Berry Hill. Marie-Joe fell in love with its character and quirks and saw possibility, not problems: "It had soul. And I always say, if you're trying to create a space that feels lived-in and timeless, it has to start with soul." CONTINUED >

Le Studio now serves as both a design headquarters and a thoughtfully curated retail experience. Customers can browse art, glassware, books, small furniture pieces and accessories that might end up in their own home—or simply take home a little slice of the JFY aesthetic. There's a corner with banquettes for team collaboration that evokes the vibe of a European café, and a conference room where clients and the JFY team delve into project details together. Every corner of the studio tells a story, just like the homes Marie-Joe designs. Her work is grounded in comfort and connection. Whether she's orchestrating a beach house in Florida or overseeing a full install— Christmas décor included—her goal is always the same: "I want people to walk into a space and feel like they can exhale. Like they're home." And if the joyful tears of her clients at the end of an install week are any indication, she's doing just that— one soulful, beautifully layered space at a time.

Fun Facts with Marie-Joe: If you were any accessory, what would you be? A vase If your design style were a cocktail, what would it be? Negroni, classic with an edge

“I dreamed of one beautiful, functional space that could house all of it. A working studio, where everything we needed was under one roof.” If you could live inside the set of any movie for a day, which one would it be? Downton Abbey If you were a piece of furniture, what would you be? Coffee Table, grounding and versatile. Depending on the accessories, a coffee table can transform. Favorite item for sale in Le Studio right now? We have a set of Verellen chairs that are stunning. They are textural, luxe, inviting and cozy. Growing up in a small town in western Kentucky, Carson Love had never heard the term stylist. Fashion weeks, editorial shoots and professional wardrobe curation weren't on her radar, but the connection between clothing and creativity always was. "I innately had a sense that clothes and creativity lived in the same part of my brain," she reflects. "Even though I wasn't exposed to much of a fashion scene growing up, I always knew that personal style goes hand in hand with being authentic." That belief has since become the foundation of her work as a Nashville-based personal stylist. Love's mission goes far beyond simply pulling outfits; she helps clients rediscover themselves through their wardrobes. And for many, that journey begins during a moment of change. "Often when a client reaches out for the first time, it's because they've just experienced or are facing some sort of shift," Love explains. "It could be a career move, a relocation, pre- or post-pregnancy or a change in their body. No matter the shift, it's often the catalyst that permits them to focus on this aspect of their lives."

“Personal styling is a vulnerable experience, and I don’t take that lightly.” These "shifts" act as green lights, allowing people to invest in themselves in ways they've long considered but never pursued. Love sees her role as both stylist and supportive guide, someone who can transform a daunting process into a liberating one. Her work begins where it matters most: the closet. "When I meet with a client for the first time, I'm typically coming over to their home for an initial closet consultation," she says. "It's a vulnerable experience, and I don't take that lightly. I feel honored that clients welcome me into their lives in this way." Love is quick to set a tone of warmth and nonjudgment. "I've seen it all when it comes to closets—I've literally worn a construction hat during a consult before—so I make it clear this is a judgment-free zone." CONTINUED >

Fall Styling Tips from Carson Love 1. CONSIDER A MATCHING SET IN LIEU OF A DRESS FOR FALL EVENTS. I love that you can style the pieces individually (I.e., I could pair this vest with jeans, or the pants with a knit or blouse). It’s as effortless as throwing on a dress, but with even more styling possibilities!

2. FIND YOUR HERO BOOT OR BOOTIES. A great pair of elevated booties can somewhat magically replace where you might normally wear a pump or wedge in other seasons. I’ve had these charcoal snakeskin booties for years, and they add the height and texture that so many looks benefit from. The process starts with a thorough edit and inventory check. Here, Love puts on her "detective hat" to spot patterns: what they wear most often, what pieces are gathering dust and what forgotten items might be reimagined in a new way. Love then helps her clients intentionally purchase missing closet essentials, ensuring every addition serves a purpose in their refreshed repertoire. One of Love's signature tools is the personalized Lookbook. She photographs head-totoe outfits created from the client's existing wardrobe, making style decisions effortless for daily life or travel. She updates these Lookbooks seasonally, offering fresh combinations that keep clients inspired year-round. Through it all, Love's ultimate goal is to help each person define their personal aesthetic without being swayed by fleeting trends or social media overload. "I always try to have an unbiased eye," she says. "My goal is for them to create their own influence, and be able to filter all the noise we're inundated with these days." For Carson Love, styling is less about chasing the latest look and more about uncovering what's already there—authenticity, confidence and the freedom to dress for the life you want to live.

22

EXP E RT H E LP | STYL E + BE AU T Y

3. DON'T SLEEP ON SMALL ACCESSORIES. Confession: I don’t wear glasses, but I LOVE the look of these vintage-inspired aviators (they’re just blue light blockers!). If layering on accessories isn’t usually your cup of tea, I encourage you to try adding a small statement to an otherwise simple outfit. Another great example of this for fall is a silk scarf or twilly! @carsonmlove

BENTLEY CALDWELL Nashville stylist brings “elevated simplicity” to men’s style—helping clients look sharp, feel confident and redefine their wardrobes

For Bentley Caldwell, styling isn’t just about clothes—it’s about connection. Before launching his men’s styling business, Caldwell had already worn many hats: musician, model, actor and lifelong retail pro. But his official foray into wardrobe consulting began unexpectedly when a friend launching a coaching business needed help looking polished on camera. “I took him through my process—Closet Detox, curated Shopping Day, follow-up session—and when he tried on the first outfit, I heard him exclaim from the fitting room,” Caldwell recalls with a laugh. “He came out and said, ‘Dude, I’ve never looked this good in my life.’ I knew I was onto something.” Caldwell’s relationship with fashion began in church, where dressing well was a given, even without designer labels. Later, a stint living in South Korea opened his eyes to global style. “I could read GQ on the train to Seoul and then buy the exact pieces I saw in the magazine. That just didn’t happen in Paducah, Kentucky!” CONTINUED >

Fall Styling Tips from Bentley Caldwell His light-bulb moment came during his music career, when a stylist friend helped him align his stage look with his sound. “Visually, I looked like I sounded vocally. It changed everything.” Now, Caldwell does the same for his clients—many of whom arrive feeling “overwhelmed by style” or sent by a well-meaning spouse. The first step? Connection. “I want to know who he is. I’m not putting him in a costume. The wardrobe has to highlight what’s already great about him,” he says. And if the chemistry isn’t there? “I don’t work with jerks,” he grins. From there, Caldwell brings his mantra—Elevated Simplicity—to life. He teaches clients to invest in quality, prioritize fit and keep things timeless yet fresh. His process is straightforward: a Closet Detox to clear out what’s no longer serving them, a pre-planned Shopping Day to fill the gaps and a follow-up to integrate the new pieces into daily life. It’s as much about mindset as it is about materials. “Working with me is a judgment-free zone,” Caldwell says. “I like to think of myself as a ‘fashion therapist.’” For Caldwell, the goal is simple: “When you look good, you feel good—and when you feel good, you carry that confidence into every part of your life.”

1. Don’t be afraid to layer. One of my favorite looks is jeans, hoodie, boots, and a topcoat or jacket. 2. Embrace the suede! Whether it be a suede jacket, a pair of suede loafers, or boots, don’t be afraid of the suede. 3. Don’t be afraid to try different textures and patterns. The beauty of fall and winter clothing is that you can play with tweeds, herringbones and different fabrics and patterns. So go for it! Have fun! And if/when in doubt, reach out to a stylist to help you. We’d love doing this stuff! bentleycaldwellstyling.com @bentleycaldwell

Since the dawn of time, the concepts of home and family have been intertwined. Families need the centering that homes can provide, and homes are just hollow structures without families to fill them with love and joy. Just as families grow and change, so do trends behind home styling. Looks and features that were commonplace just a few years ago often begin to look old and dated as new designs come along. Two of the most important of elements of home style are windows and doors. The right combination of doors and windows can enhance homeowner enjoyment while simultaneously elevating the curb appeal and resale value of every property. When choosing new or replacement doors and windows, it is essential to choose a vendor who understands the desires and the budget of the homeowner. Usually, the best option is to work with a local company. Fortunately, Middle Tennessee is blessed with such a firm – Pella Windows & Doors of Nashville. Pella is one of the most respected companies in the windows and doors business, celebrating its 100th year in business during 2025. Pella Windows & Doors of Nashville has been around for over 50 years, and it has been owned by Ben Talbot and his family for over six years. “I’ve always loved the construction industry, and I always knew that Pella is one of the most recognized brands in the window and

From the moment they walk into the showroom doors, they are guided through a collaborative process to ensure that their dreams are achieved. “We start by understanding the customer’s vision, needs and budget,” says Ben. “From there, we walk them through product options, provide them with detailed

LIVING STYLE THE INTERSECTION OF FASHION AND HOME

IN

this unexpected love affair, fashion and interiors are more than just a simple pairing—they are rooted in culture, creativity, and the human desire for self-expression. As conscious consumers of the 21st century, participating in a retail landscape that is oversaturated and struggling to adapt to the ever-changing demands of the modern customer, our purchasing power should not only respond to a feeling of want but also prioritize items that reflect who we are and who we aspire to be. This is clearly visible through the representation of fashion and interiors. Although we tend to consider cost-per-wear primarily when it comes to clothing, this same principle applies to furniture and the function it brings to the home. Aesthetics and functionality both play a role in this pairing, painting a picture for the rest of the world of who the wearer is and how they live in their space. The woman who wears a blazer with sharp shoulders that makes her feel powerful in her everyday life—or the black dress that gives her a necessary boost of confidence—may naturally gravitate toward sleek, modern furniture that feels equally strong and elevates the space where the modern woman thrives.

In the same way, someone who prefers an effortless ensemble—like their favorite white T-shirt and comfortable denim jeans—may also look for home pieces that are functional and make their guests feel at ease. Even a handmade rug, one that sparks conversation about where it was found and adds a focal point to a room, mirrors how we search our closets for a sweater tied to a cherished memory. Just as we carefully choose outfits to express ourselves, it’s equally important to ensure that our living spaces are designed

with the same intention. More than ever, modern buyers are making purchasing decisions based on personal morals and values, forming a new wave of consumers who seek products that are both high-quality and environmentally or socially conscious, whether for themselves or their homes. The following imagery affirms that living a timeless lifestyle across all aspects of life is possible through the thoughtful styling of sustainable clothing and vintage furniture. As the modern retail landscape continues to evolve, it’s become increasingly vital to make conscious consumer choices—ones that allow us to express our truest selves through both our wardrobes and the places we call home.
