Hello Nashville,
When we hear the word invest, most of us immediately think about money. We think about portfolios, financial planning, and long term returns. Those investments are certainly important, but some of the most meaningful investments we make in life have very little to do with dollars.
They are the choices we make with our time, our energy, and our priorities.

Investing in your health might mean committing to movement, trying a new wellness routine, or simply making space for rest during a busy season. Investing in relationships may look like lingering longer over dinner with friends, calling someone you love just to check in, or choosing to nurture the connections that bring joy and support into your life.
Some of the best investments are experiences. Travel allows us to step away from routine and see the world with fresh perspective. Whether it is a weekend escape or a long awaited adventure, those moments often become the memories we treasure most.
Creativity is another place where investment matters. Supporting the arts, discovering a new gallery, attending a local performance, or bringing beautiful pieces into your home can inspire us in ways that are hard to measure but deeply felt.
And then there is our community.
Every time we support a local business, recommend a trusted professional, or show up for a neighborhood event, we are investing in the place we call home. Nashville is filled with people who are building businesses, creating opportunities, and serving others with passion and purpose.
In this issue, we highlight individuals and organizations who are investing in our community in meaningful ways. Their work reminds us that the best investments are not always the ones that grow a bank account.
They are the ones that enrich our lives and strengthen the community around us.

'RITE OF SPRING' THROUGH AN EQUESTRIAN-ANCHORED, SOUTHERN HOSPITALITY ANNUAL TRADITION

There’s something about the first Saturday in May that feels quintessentially Nashville — wide-brim hats, polished boots and the thunder of hooves rolling across Percy Warner Park. On May 9, the Iroquois Steeplechase returns for its 85th anniversary, ushering in another unforgettable “Rite of Spring.”
This year, the beloved tradition adds a new layer of energy with the debut of The Big 98 Stage, presented in partnership with iHeartMedia Nashville’s 97.9 The BIG 98. Set in Centerfield, the live music stage will spotlight Nashvillebased artists throughout the day, blending Music City’s signature sound with one of the South’s most celebrated sporting events.
Of course, the heart of Steeplechase remains the racing itself with six exhilarating races. More than 30,000 spectators are expected to gather, embracing a day that seamlessly weaves sport, style and Southern hospitality.
From the reimagined Magnolia Garden’s all-inclusive elegance to the high-energy Royal 615 Lounge and classic tailgating traditions, there’s a vantage point for every kind of race-day reveler. Families can enjoy a dedicated children’s zone, while fashionistas compete in the always-anticipated Style Contest. This event features something for everyone.
Beyond the pageantry, the event continues its philanthropic legacy, having contributed more than $11.4 million to Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt since 1981.
Gates open at 8 a.m., and with music continuing into the evening, Steeplechase 2026 promises to be as vibrant and community-centered as ever — a Nashville tradition, beautifully evolved.

An exclusive Q&A with City Lifestyle

From championship trophies to global humanitarian impact, Tim Tebow’s journey has defied every standard playbook. In an exclusive conversation for the Share the Lifestyle podcast, Tebow pulls back the curtain on the moments that truly defined him, from a humbling middle school church retreat to the life-altering shift of fatherhood. This isn’t just a look back at a career; it’s an invitation into the heart of a man driven by purpose. Read the highlights below, then join us for the full, unfiltered experience by scanning the QR code at the end.

Q: WE ALL KNOW YOUR ACCOMPLISHMENTS ON THE FOOTBALL FIELD, BUT TELL US ABOUT THE CURL CONTEST.
A: I was competing for my future high school team (my brother’s team), and I pushed myself way past what was smart. I ended up collapsing and needing medical attention. But what stayed with me wasn’t the pain, it was the lesson. Would I be willing to do something that others aren’t? For much of my life, I strived to bring my best for a game, but I hope that I can say at the end of my life I was willing to do that for things that actually matter.
Q: YOU’VE ACHIEVED SO MUCH IN SPORTS. WHAT WOULD YOU SAY IS YOUR GREATEST ACCOMPLISHMENT NOW?
A: Becoming a dad. Nothing compares. From the moment I knew my wife was pregnant, I felt a new depth of love for our child, but when you bring your baby home, the responsibility hits you like nothing else. Suddenly, everything you see, every decision you make, you’re asking, “Is this corner too sharp? What happens if she reaches that drawer?” It changes how you see the world and how you see other people.
Q: YOU’VE SPOKEN OPENLY ABOUT DISAPPOINTMENT, ESPECIALLY AROUND FOOTBALL. HOW DID THAT SEASON OF LIFE SHAPE YOU?
A: I talked a lot about that very thing in my book Shaken . We all go through moments where our faith in our abilities and purpose feels rattled, but I believe it’s often in those storms when God can show us who we could become.
Q: YOU TALK A LOT ABOUT COMPARISON CULTURE. WHY DO YOU BELIEVE COMPARISON HAS BECOME SUCH A TRAP TODAY?
A: Because we’re comparing our real, everyday lives to someone else’s highlight reel. Social media shows people’s “best day,” often filtered and staged, and then we measure our reality against that. There’s a reason filters are so popular—it’s not real. We end up scrolling through images that don’t tell the full story, and without realizing it, comparison starts to steal our joy and our gratitude.
“We’re comparing our real, everyday lives to someone else’s highlight reel... comparison starts to steal our joy.”
Q: YOUR FOUNDATION FOCUSES ON THE “MOST VULNERABLE.” WHERE DID THAT CALLING BEGIN?
A: When I was 15, I met a boy in the Philippines who was treated as a throwaway because he was born with physical differences. That moment changed me. I realized God was calling me to pursue a different kind of MVP, not “Most Valuable Player,” but “Most Vulnerable People.”
Q: FINALLY, WHAT’S ONE THING PEOPLE MIGHT BE SURPRISED TO KNOW ABOUT YOU?
A: I have some weird coffee habits, which include protein powder, collagen, and cream all mixed together. I love golf dates with my wife. And every night, I bring snacks to bed to share with our dogs. It brings me more joy than it probably should.
This conversation barely scratches the surface. Tim goes deeper into the moments that rattled him, the joys of fatherhood, and one story he has never shared publicly until now. Scan the QR code for the full, exclusive City Lifestyle interview on Share the Lifestyle Podcast.

THE SOUTHERN OAK WEALTH GROUP APPROACH TO BUILDING LASTING WEALTH

Managing Director, Senior Portfolio Manager
For Patrick, co-founder of Southern Oak Wealth Group, wealth advising has always been about more than numbers on a balance sheet. It’s about relationships, trust, and helping families make thoughtful decisions that shape their futures for generations to come.
Patrick helped establish Southern Oak Wealth Group with a clear vision: to serve clients without the constraints that often come with large corporate financial institutions. He wanted the freedom to guide families without product pressure or competing priorities, allowing him to focus on what truly matters—long-term relationships and meaningful financial stewardship.
“We wanted the flexibility to serve families the way they deserve,” Patrick says. “Wealth advising is about being a trusted resource for every financial question, through every season of life.”
Over the years, Patrick’s perspective on investing has evolved beyond simply managing portfolios. While disciplined equity investing remains a cornerstone of his strategy, he believes investments are only one piece of a much larger financial picture. Today, his work integrates portfolio strategy with
tax planning, estate structures, liquidity events, and generational wealth transfer—creating a comprehensive approach that connects every aspect of a client’s financial life.
One of the most important lessons Patrick has learned throughout his career is that true financial success begins with purpose. When families clearly understand what their wealth is meant to accomplish—whether supporting future generations, philanthropy, or personal goals—financial decisions become far more intentional.
Risk management also plays a central role in Patrick’s philosophy. Rather than viewing risk solely as market volatility, he encourages clients to think about it in terms of long-term outcomes. The real risk, he explains, is failing to achieve the goals that matter most. By structuring strategies that can weather market fluctuations while still capturing growth, he helps clients remain confident even during uncertain markets.
Patrick’s approach with clients begins with listening. Understanding family dynamics, business interests, financial concerns, and personal aspirations allows him to build strategies that truly reflect each client’s priorities. Education is equally important—he believes informed clients are empowered clients. He also takes pride in guiding younger generations, helping them build a strong financial foundation early in life.
While industry recognition is always appreciated, Patrick says it ultimately reinforces his responsibility to serve clients with excellence.
Outside the office, Patrick recharges by spending time with family, staying active, and maintaining close friendships—some of which began right inside the Southern Oak office. For him, those relationships are a reminder that the most meaningful investments in life are often the personal ones.

Managing Director, Senior Wealth Advisor
For Ann Young, partner at Southern Oak Wealth Group, financial advising is about far more than managing assets. It’s about empowering people—especially women—to feel confident, informed, and in control of their financial futures.
Early in her own career, Ann remembers feeling that finance could be an intimidating subject, particularly for young women. But she also recognized how important it was to develop a strong understanding of money and how it shapes long-term life decisions. Today, that early perspective fuels her passion for helping others feel comfortable navigating their financial lives.
Ann is particularly driven by the opportunity to support women in a field historically dominated by men. In many households, financial roles have traditionally defaulted to husbands, but that landscape is rapidly changing. Women are projected to control nearly half of the financial assets in the United States by 2030—driven by rising earnings, entrepreneurship, and longer lifespans.
“That shift matters deeply to me,” Ann says. “Many women feel intimidated by finance simply because it hasn’t always been explained in a clear, approachable way.”
Her solution is simple: education and transparency. Ann prioritizes walking clients through the “why” and “how” behind every financial decision so they feel empowered rather than overwhelmed. Her goal is to build lasting confidence so clients feel secure managing their wealth at every stage of life.
That personal approach defines her relationships with clients. Ann believes wealth management is about much more than numbers—it’s about understanding goals, values, family dynamics, and the life someone hopes to build. By learning what matters most to each client and what’s happening in their lives today, she can anticipate needs, uncover opportunities, and design strategies that align financial resources with the bigger picture.
Life transitions are a key focus of her work. Whether clients are navigating retirement, divorce, or family changes, Ann emphasizes the importance of having a thoughtful financial plan in place before those moments arrive. While transitions can bring uncertainty, a clear and forward-looking strategy provides stability and peace of mind.
Ann’s background in economics and her designation as a Certified Divorce Financial Analyst (CDFA) also influence how she approaches complex financial situations. Still, she believes the strength of Southern Oak lies in collaboration. Alongside her two partners, she works as part of a team that combines diverse perspectives to find the best solutions for clients.
Outside of work, Ann’s greatest passion is motherhood. With a six-year-old daughter and a three-year-old daughter, she is intentional about making sure they know they are the most important part of her life.
A lifelong Middle Tennessee native, Ann also treasures raising her daughters close to family. From time spent with grandparents and cousins to summers on Center Hill Lake and cheering on the Vanderbilt Commodores, she enjoys watching her children experience the same traditions she loved growing up.

Managing Director, Senior Wealth Advisor
In Nashville’s thriving business and entrepreneurial community, financial strategy requires more than simply managing investments; it demands thoughtful planning that considers every piece of a client’s life. For Jonathan Trusty, Managing Director and Senior Wealth Advisor at Southern Oak Wealth Group, that holistic perspective is central to how he serves clients across Middle Tennessee.
Based in Brentwood, Southern Oak Wealth Group was founded with the idea that wealth management should be more comprehensive than traditional investment advice. The firm works closely with families, corporate executives, and business owners to align investments, retirement planning, business strategy, and legacy goals into one integrated financial plan.
Trusty’s path to wealth management began in banking, where he started his career in 2007 working in lending and underwriting. That early experience gave him deep insight into both personal and business finance, an expertise that continues to shape his advisory work today. In 2012, he partnered with colleagues to form what is now Southern Oak Wealth Group, building a firm
focused on long-term relationships and personalized financial strategies.
Today, Trusty specializes in helping executives and business owners navigate complex financial decisions, including retirement planning, debt management, and long-term wealth strategy. His background allows him to design highly tailored financial solutions for clients whose financial lives often involve both personal assets and business interests.
A graduate of the University of Tennessee, Trusty lives in Brentwood with his wife, Stephanie, and their two sons. Outside the office, he enjoys spending time with his family at Center Hill Lake and skiing across the United States—experiences that reflect the same balance between professional success and personal fulfillment that he encourages his clients to pursue.
For Trusty, wealth management ultimately comes down to relationships. By understanding each client’s goals, values, and vision for the future, he helps families build financial strategies designed for lasting confidence and peace of mind, not just growth.

DR. MIRIAM HALL’S VISION FOR MODERN ORTHODONTICS
In Nashville’s Belle Meade community, Dr. Miriam Hall has created more than an orthodontic practice—she has built a place where families feel known, welcomed, and genuinely cared for.
Since opening Hall Orthodontics in 2020, Dr. Hall has cultivated a boutique orthodontic experience defined by personal relationships, thoughtful service, and clinical excellence. Located on Harding Pike, the practice offers advanced orthodontic care for children, teens, and adults, including Invisalign, esthetic braces options, and airway-focused orthodontics designed to support overall health and breathing.

What truly distinguishes Dr. Hall’s approach, however, is the perspective she brings as both a physician and a mother.
At home, Dr. Hall and her husband are raising four children, and like many families in Nashville, their days are filled with school activities, sports schedules, and the rhythm of a full household. That firsthand understanding of family life informs the way she leads her practice. From flexible scheduling and seamless communication to thoughtful patient education, every detail is designed to make orthodontic care approachable and convenient for busy families.
Dr. Hall’s path to orthodontics reflects both dedication and achievement. She completed both her dental school training and orthodontic residency at the University of Pennsylvania—an Ivy League institution—and has been in private practice since 2010. Her expertise has earned recognition as one of Nashville’s Top Orthodontists, and her work has been published in the American Journal of Orthodontics.
Yet for Dr. Hall, credentials are only part of the story.
Walk through the doors of Hall Orthodontics and the atmosphere feels less like a traditional medical office and more like a welcoming neighborhood space. As a female-owned practice led by Dr. Hall, the team places a strong emphasis on warmth, encouragement, and creating an environment where patients feel comfortable and confident throughout their orthodontic journey.
That same spirit of connection extends beyond the practice walls. Dr. Hall and her team actively support local schools, sports teams, and community organizations, reflecting their deep commitment to the neighborhoods they serve.
For Dr. Hall, orthodontics is about far more than straight teeth. It’s about confidence, health, and helping people feel their very best.
And in a city built on relationships and community, that philosophy feels perfectly at home.

HOW OSTEOSTRONG NASHVILLE IS REDEFINING BONE HEALTH

In Nashville’s thriving wellness community—where fitness studios, recovery lounges, and holistic health practices are part of everyday life—one concept stands out for its simplicity and science-backed approach. OsteoStrong Nashville, founded by local entrepreneur Diane Miller Mulloy, is helping people strengthen one of the most important—and often overlooked—parts of the body: their bones.
Unlike traditional gyms or fitness programs, OsteoStrong focuses on improving bone density, muscle strength, and balance through a highly efficient protocol known as osteogenic loading
The experience is surprisingly simple. Members spend about 10 minutes once a week using specialized equipment designed to safely stimulate the skeletal system and trigger the body’s natural strengthening response.
The result? Stronger bones, improved balance, and a proactive approach to long-term health.
For Mulloy, the mission behind OsteoStrong is both personal and deeply rooted in her passion for preventative wellness.

At first glance, OsteoStrong doesn’t look like a gym. There are no rows of treadmills or heavy weights, and members don’t leave drenched in sweat. Instead, the centers focus on guided sessions with patented machines specifically designed for osteogenic loading.
“People are often surprised by how quick and simple it is,” Mulloy explains. “But the science behind it is incredibly powerful.”
The concept is based on Wolff’s Law, a well-established scientific principle stating that bones adapt and become stronger when placed under the right type of load or pressure. OsteoStrong’s equipment allows members to safely apply pressure to their skeletal system above body weight, triggering the body to rebuild and strengthen bone tissue over time.
During each session, members work with a certified coach who guides them through four specialized devices that engage

muscles, bones, and joints throughout the body. Many sessions also incorporate additional wellness technologies such as vibration plates to stimulate the nervous system and improve balance.
The centers also offer recovery and wellness modalities including Biocharger energy therapy, compression boots, cryoloungers, and hydromassage, which many members use to support overall health and pain management.
While the experience is brief, the impact can be significant.
“The beauty of the system is efficiency,” Mulloy says. “In just a few minutes each week, you can trigger the body’s natural ability to get stronger.”
Bone health rarely gets the attention it deserves—especially for women. Yet the statistics are striking. Women can lose 20 to 25 percent of their bone density within five years of menopause, dramatically increasing the risk of fractures and mobility issues later in life.
Mulloy believes this is one of the most important health conversations people aren’t having early enough.
“Fractures are actually the number one cause of hospitalization for women over 55,” she says. “But bone loss is silent. Many people don’t realize there’s a problem until they’ve already lost significant density.”
For this reason, OsteoStrong often attracts members who want to take a preventative approach. While many clients arrive after receiving a diagnosis of osteopenia or osteoporosis, Mulloy says the ideal time to start focusing on bone health is earlier—typically in the late forties or early fifties.
“Prevention is always easier than repair,” she says. “If people start strengthening their bones before significant loss occurs, they can protect their independence and quality of life.”
Members are able to track their progress through weekly strength feedback and periodic REMS bone scans, which measure bone density and structural strength over time. Many also notice improvements in everyday activities—lifting luggage, climbing stairs, or simply feeling more stable while walking.
Mulloy’s commitment to bone health comes from firsthand experience. She watched her own mother struggle with osteoporosis, which led to repeated fractures and years spent in rehabilitation and assisted living.
“It was heartbreaking to watch,” Mulloy recalls. “She spent much of her later life recovering from injuries that might have been preventable.”
That experience inspired Mulloy to explore ways people could protect their health earlier in life. A lifelong entrepreneur with a passion for wellness, she ultimately discovered the OsteoStrong concept and immediately saw its potential to make a difference.
“I love building businesses that improve people’s lives,” she says. “This one truly does that every single day.”
Mulloy comes from a family of entrepreneurs and has built businesses throughout her career. Before opening OsteoStrong, she founded Milagro Biofuels, a company focused on improving air quality across Tennessee by developing alternative fuel solutions.
Her path to Nashville began decades earlier. Mulloy moved to the city in 1982 from a small town in Tennessee to attend Vanderbilt University, and she has called Nashville home ever since.
Mulloy opened Nashville’s OsteoStrong centers in 2015, selecting Belle Meade and Green Hills for their accessibility and health-conscious communities.
Originally, she planned to open just one location in the SPACES building in Belle Meade. But as interest grew, it quickly became clear that a second location would better serve residents across the city.
“Nashville is an incredibly educated and wellness-focused community,” Mulloy says. “People here are proactive about researching new ways to support their health.”
Like many innovative concepts, OsteoStrong took time for the community to understand. But once clients began seeing results, word spread quickly. Today, the centers receive referrals from both physicians and satisfied members.

Jess Smith is the founder of the popular food blog InquiringChef.com, which she started in 2010 after moving to Thailand with her husband. She explored Thai cuisine, took cooking classes, and documented her experiences on the blog. Over time, her passion for cooking grew, leading her to focus on quick, easy meals for families. Today, Inquiring Chef receives over 5 million page views annually and supports a small team. She shares new recipes weekly through email, her blog, and social media, helping home cooks simplify mealtime without sacrificing flavor.
Smith is now an author. Her debut cookbook, Start with a Vegetable, published in 2025 reimagines meal planning by putting vegetables at the center of the plate.
“Start with a Vegetable was the result of a natural transition in the way I started thinking about preparing dinner for my family. At the end of a busy day, I often didn't have the energy to think about dinner in parts by preparing a separate protein, vegetable, and starch,” says Smith. “I realized that if I put a vegetable at the center of the dish, the rest was easy to fill in.”
The book features 100 flexible recipes proving vegetables aren’t just a side— they’re key to simple, satisfying meals.
As chief recipe developer for the Cook Smarts meal-planning app, Smith worked closely with families struggling to get dinner on the table. She noticed a common challenge: people wanted to eat more vegetables but didn’t know how to build meals around them.
“As I started planning and testing recipes for the book, I just loved how easy it made dinnertime feel. Are there carrots in the fridge? Here are a bunch of ways to turn them into dinner. Nearly all of the 100 recipes are complete meals and include easy swaps to make them vegetarian. The book is truly flexitarian, with vegetable-forward recipes for all types of eaters.”
Unlike most cookbooks, Start with a Vegetable is organized by ingredient. Each chapter focuses on a different vegetable, offering multiple ways to turn it into a meal.
“The concept is resonating with many readers who tell me they love that the chapters are organized by vegetable, making it easy to use whatever they have on hand.”
Smith went through a rigorous testing process, starting with over 300 ideas before narrowing them down to 100.
“I always have running lists of recipe ideas. I started sorting recipes into categories, making sure there was variety for each vegetable. I wanted different cooking methods and types of dishes, so each chapter might have a soup, a salad, a roasted dish, a stove-top dish, and a sandwich or pasta.”
After perfecting the recipes in her own kitchen, she passed them to a trusted friend, an everyday home cook, to ensure they worked under realworld conditions.
“I want to know how these recipes worked for a home cook who was shopping at regular grocery stores and trying to make dinner for a family on a weeknight. She sends me feedback on any ingredients that are hard to find, anything that is unclear in the recipe, and tracks how long it takes her to make it with real-life interruptions.”
To further refine the book, Smith enlisted 30 volunteer home cooks through Instagram and her email list to test the recipes.
“My goal was to ensure that the recipes in this book are reliable, easy, and adaptable. I wanted this to be a cookbook for real home cooks. I'm so grateful to that team of volunteers for helping to ensure that it is.”

Sweet carrots and tart cranberries complement each other in every bite of this tangy couscous. It makes a light meal on its own but becomes a showstopper when spread on a platter and topped with braised meat, roasted cauliflower steaks, or seared tofu. If you want to add a little creaminess, serve the couscous with a spoonful of plain yogurt.
• 1 pound carrots
• one 15½-ounce can chickpeas
• 3 tablespoons olive oil
• 1½ teaspoons ground cumin
• ½ teaspoon ground ginger
• ½ teaspoon dried thyme
• ¾ teaspoon kosher salt, plus more for boiling
• ½ cup orange juice
• 1 cup water
• 1 cup dry regular or whole wheat couscous
• ⅓ cup sliced almonds
• 1 lemon
• ½ cup dried cranberries
• chopped fresh parsley for garnish
Directions:
Step 1. Preheat the oven to 425°F
Step 2. Peel the carrots and slice them diagonally into 1-inch ovals. Drain and rinse the chickpeas
Step 3. In a large mixing bowl, combine the carrots and chickpeas with 1 tablespoon of the olive oil, cumin, ginger, dried thyme, and ½ teaspoon of the salt, coating evenly.
Step 4. Line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper. Spread the seasoned veggies and chickpeas on it in an even layer.
Step 5. Bake until the carrots become tender, 25 to 30 minutes. Stir halfway through cooking.
Step 6. Meanwhile, in a medium saucepan over high heat, combine the orange juice, water, and ½ teaspoon of salt. When the mixture begins to boil, remove it from the heat, stir in the couscous, cover, and let stand for 5 minutes.
Step 7. When the carrots become tender, sprinkle the almonds on them and continue baking until the almonds lightly toast, 4 to 5 more minutes.
Step 8. Juice the lemon for 1 tablespoon fresh juice.
Step 9. In the same mixing bowl used to season the veggies, whisk together the lemon juice, 2 tablespoons of olive oil, and the cranberries.
Step 10. Fluff the couscous with a fork and add it to the carrots, chickpeas, and almonds. Stir well to combine.
Step 11. Serve warm or refrigerate for 30 minutes and serve chilled. Just before serving, stir in the parsley.
