COLORFUL AND FUN COLLECTIONS OF CANDIES AND MORE

Belle Meade Lifestyle | August 2021

LIKE MOST KIDS, 10-YEAR-OLD HENRY MACLANE LOVES CANDY. Unlike most kids, Henry decided to turn his love of sweets into a business and created the Chocolate Fat Fish Company three years ago. “We package our mixed candy in clear little cellophane bags and color code it by separating each bag into different colors,” he says. “They’re great birthday party favors.” When Henry first started his business, he planned to package unwrapped candies, such as gummy bears, but was told he needed a license to sell unwrapped candies. That didn’t stop Henry! “He asked how he could sell in stores and decided to iterate and create a medley of these colorful pre-wrapped candies, package them and rebrand,” says dad Jared. “To say I’m proud is an understatement,” adds mom Katherine. In addition to his website, ChocolateFatFish. com his candies can be found at Katie’s Hallmark stores in Brentwood and Belle Meade.

Our smiles are found on the faces of some of the most high-profile people in the world — movie stars, music celebrities, professional athletes, and models... ...but you don’t have to be famous to enjoy the benefits that a beautiful, natural-looking smile can bring!

Come see why people from all walks of life choose us to enhance their smile Dr. Wells and his staff welcomed me with open arms from the very beginning. I shared my insecurities within my smile, and Dr. Wells worked tediously to help perfect my smile. I appreciate the time and energy spent to create the confident smile that I had longed for. The care and patience that I received were top notch. Because of Dr. Wells I was able to smile brightly and confidently for all to see as I graced the Miss USA stage. Thank you, Dr. Wells for taking the time to give me the most natural looking beautiful smile.

GOOD BONES When looking to buy a house, one of the main aspects that Joe Jennings looks for is “good bones”. But what does that actually mean? According to Joe, “good bones” can be described as most likely a fixer upper that you can take from good to great, without having to rebuild it. Exactly what the Georgian Project house entails. One of the first components of good bones Joe noticed about the Georgian Project house is the proportion. Joe always asks “how high are the ceilings? Do the size of the windows or columns fit the house?” A second important factor is the size of the rooms and how the house flows. If a house is a collection of small rooms or limited in how you can move from one room to another, then there can be limitations on what changes can be made or can drastically increase the cost of renovation. The Georgian Project home has an effortless flow that can be used to host parties and opens up the house. A final factor is the timelessness of the home. While you may love a house that is on trend at the moment, in a few years it will be described as being of a certain decade. A house with good bones will be classic at any moment. Joe believes that good bones along with amazing architectural features can make for a truly special home. Follow the Georgian Project at readytosellnashville.com

ALEX FASCHING, A LAWYER SPECIALIZING IN ESTATE PLANNING AND PROBATE ADMINISTRATION WITH COOK TILLMAN LAW GROUP, ENJOYS HAVING PETS. In addition to his dog and cat, he also has a pet wallaby. Yes, a wallaby, in Nashville. Jack Junior, otherwise known as JJ or “little” Jack, joined the family about two years ago after Alex’s 5-year-old wallaby, “big” Jack, passed away from cancer. Alex was devastated by Jack’s unexpected death, and had no intentions of getting another. Fate, though, sometimes has a way of intervening. About six months after Jack passed, Alex was visiting his parents in Wisconsin and learned of a baby wallaby available for adoption nearby. He didn’t come back to Tennessee alone. Today, JJ is 2.5 years old, 40 pounds and 3 feet tall, and has his own room where he sleeps in a pouch at night. There are more pouches around the house and in the yard for him to take naps in as well. To find out more about JJ, follow him on social media.

LIENTS SEEK OUT TRIAL ATTORNEY AMANDA GENTRY

FOR STRAIGHT-FORWARD, HONEST ANSWERS TO COMPLEX LEGAL QUESTIONS DURING SOME OF LIFE’S MOST DIFFICULT DEVELOPMENTS. She’s known for being accessible, communicative, responsive and realistic about possible legal outcomes, as well as reasonable about legal fees. Amanda says her father, Mark Gentry, had a strong influence on the way she conducts her legal business. “He’s been working in, and a reliable part of the Belle Meade community, for more than 35 years. He’s a straight shooter. He’s been my rock star parent since the mid-1980s.”

“I wanted to make sure I was informed enough to be able to navigate the difficult situations of those close to me.” She was one of the first children in Nashville to be awarded full time custody to a father. “He was very protective of me,

and engaged in my education. To this day, he is my best friend,” she adds. Amanda is an only child and an only grandchild, and she says that was one of the deciding factors in her applying to law school. “I wanted to make sure I was informed enough to be able to navigate the difficult situations of those close to me,” she recalls. “Difficult situations can be anything from starting a business, being arrested, or dying without a will.” She’s worked most of her adult life in small businesses. She spent her years in law school working for a company that invests solely in community banks. She supports small and local businesses and focuses her practice on those who live, work, or are affected by the same. Amanda earned her Juris Doctorate from The Nashville School of Law in 2013. Her areas of practice span family law, felonies, misdemeanors, defense of driving under the influence, drug-related crime laws, domestic violence, divorce procedures, grandparents’ rights, criminal trespassing, disorderly conduct, aggravated assault and battery charges, sex crimes and even murder allegations.

LEGAL COMPASS (CONTINUED)

“Having an attorney who will communicate with you and give you the best case and worst case legal scenarios is essential. Judges are all facts-specific, so no attorneys should be guaranteeing clients certain outcomes,” she attests. “Watching a man or woman cry tears of joy because I believed in them, and helped them through a broken justice system, is why I do this and why I love my work,” Amanda concludes. *By appointment only: 2021 Richard Jones Road, #160, Nashville 615.604.6263 AmandaJGentry.com AMANDA’S PROFESSIONAL ORGANIZATIONS: + Nashville Bar Association + Tennessee Bar Association + Tennessee Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers + Lawyers Association of Women + National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers + Tennessee Trial Lawyers Association + Rutherford County Bar Association + Sumner County Bar Association

AEHS EIMAJ

Let’s face it, you cannot turn on the radio these days without a company offering to purchase your home without you having to list it with a real estate agent. Sounds like a great proposition, right? Well, the saying, “if it looks too good to be true, it probably is” should hold true here. Don’t trust your home’s value to a computer algorithm. Put my 20 years’ experience and knowledge as an appraiser and broker to work for you. I will be happy to come out and talk to you about your home’s current value, what you can do to get your home ready to list, and work to create a strategy to get your home sold. Call me today and let an experienced professional work for you!

We all know that kids like to play and have fun, so why not make food fun? Whether you’re turning broccoli into a microphone at dinner, or playing tic-tac-toe with edible carrot sticks, kids get into it. DON’T GIVE UP Parents often assume that if a child doesn’t eat a food the first or second time it’s served, the child doesn’t like the food. Many children may
