Giving Back with Les Couleurs Charity LES COULEURS CHARITY FOUNDER, AURA COPELAND, SHARES HER PASSION FOR CHANGING CHILDREN’S LIVES THROUGH MUSIC AND THE ARTS.
WHAT WAS YOUR INSPIRATION FOR LAUNCHING THIS CHARITY? It started eight years ago when one of my best friends in New York decided to organize small friend gatherings with a goal to build stronger bonds and make our friendships more profound. I suggested that our guests wear clothes of a certain color, to add another layer of connectivity and to create a greater sense of belonging. We called these gatherings Les Couleurs, to represent the diversity of our friends and the colorful world we live in. A year and a half later we needed a greater purpose, so we decided, let’s do it for a cause! We went to Haiti with open minds and hearts without knowing what exactly we are going to do. Unimaginable poverty being so close to the U.S. seemed simply inappropriate and unfair. We both had a strong urge to help, as everywhere around us needed it. We spent the entire week visiting schools, orphanages, and the center for after-school programs in the most violent and impoverished neighborhood, Cite Soleil, once declared by the U.N. to be the most dangerous place on Earth. Amongst the poverty, there was a safe place for kids to come after school, the center was surrounded by tall cement walls with barbed wires all around it. There were no toys, no books or anything we are used to seeing in places where kids are present. Towards the end of our depressing tour, we all of the sudden heard the sounds of music and saw a few boys making music with self-made instruments. Kids started flocking towards the musicians, and within minutes the garage was filled with happy kids, where everyone started singing and dancing, and for a

Threading your right arm underneath the left armpit, release the right shoulder and right ear on the floor. You can walk the right hand more to the left to intensify the twist; hold for 2 minutes, then repeat on the other side. Come back to the tabletop and walk your knees out towards the edges of the mat. Beaches of Miami Lifestyle | September 2021
Growing up in Europe, my grandparents had a country house we would go to every weekend, where they had a garden with fruits, vegetables, and had chickens for eggs. We really ate what the garden gave us, and everything that you would collect in the summer, you would preserve for wintertime. Since I was a little girl, I'm used to everything being fresh and from nature. When we were sick we were given homemade syrup from steeped onions in honey, or hot milk with butter to drink to soothe our throats. There were all these homemade remedies or specialties she would make from the plants and herbs from the garden. And now I do a lot of those things with my kids, so we wanted to also create these rituals and traditions for others. TELL US ABOUT YOUR FAVORITE PRODUCTS FROM GRYPH & IVYROSE.
Adult Chocolate Probiotic
It's important to teach your kids how to take care of themselves and to empower them. It's good to create a healthy foundation with education, while making it fun and exciting, and also doing it together as a family. Which we created with our chocolate probiotics, as we have the same product, with different dosing, for both the child and parent. It's an organic chocolate made of real cacao and coconut palm sugar, with the benefits of having a daily dose of probiotic. The That's A Wrap Body wash is amazing, it's so creamy, moisturizing, and luxe. It has a ton of amazing different herbs in it, like the tremella mushroom, which is super moisturizing. The tremella mushroom has been used for over 5,000 years, especially on the Chinese empress. It's gentle for babies, but then, also my other kids love it because of the smell, and of course the fun packaging. Then Seal the Deal, I love because it's a really special and rich healing balm. It's an artisanal product of only a few ingredients, with no additives or fillers. I love to use it as balm for my baby, and I especially like to use it for when my hands and feet get dry. It was really created for skin rashes, dryness, and eczema. So it's a really powerful, beautiful product. ARE YOU WORKING ON ANY EXCITING UPCOMING PROJECTS? Actually we are really excited to announce that within the next year we are launching a completely new line of products, which
That's a Wrap
will broaden our audience. We are really focusing on bath and body products for kids, in a different price range, but still rooted in our philosophies. We’re going to be bringing much more education, innovation, and technology into it, while still also maintaining our pledge to sustainability. Also, this year we became boat owners. My family and I have been in Miami for a long time, but now I feel like we really have Miami living down. It's a beautiful boat from Allen Yachts, built in Turkey. We can go for a little cruise, and just jump from the boat into the water. It's been nice to have a change of scenery for our kids, you almost feel like you’re getting away even if you’re still in Miami. Now my husband is learning how to drive, and I'm learning how to help him so we can do that on our own and explore. It’s really an exciting time. Seal the Deal CityLifestyle.com/BeachesofMiami

Heat up a wide saucepan with the oil, and add the garlic, then cook until the edges get just a hint of color. Then add the onions and turn the heat to medium. Cook the onions with the garlic for another two minutes, but don’t let them get any color. Turn the heat down if needed. Add the Roasted Tomatoes, Chili Paste, and Rosemary. Simmer for 10-15 minutes, and then add a splash of water if it seems too thick. Cook your Bucatini after you have started the sauce, once it is al dente, strain it out of the boiling water and add to your finished sauce. Then fold in the crab, butter, and pecorino cheese (check for seasoning). Garnish with torn basil leaves and more pecorino. Bon appetit!
