While there can be concern about citrus oils on the skin when exposed to sunlight, lemongrass isn’t a photosensitive oil, and if lemon essential oil is steam-distilled rather than cold-pressed (Oui Fresh essential oils are cold-pressed) it can be used on the skin. So just make sure to note which one your lemon oil is and only spray on clothes if you don’t have a skin-safe lemon oil (which is an application method a lot of people prefer anyway if they are more sensitive to oils).

RENOVATE & REFINE

A NEW CONNECTED APPROACH TO RESIDENTIAL AND STRUCTURAL DESIGN

A Homeowner's Dream Design ARTICLE ROSLYN BOND | PHOTOGRAPHY PORTRAIT BY LESSON MEDRANO LARRY MARTIN, OWNER OF MARTINHOUSE DESIGNS, BELIEVES THAT “GREAT DESIGN CHANGES LIVES!” Larry’s journey, as a certified professional building designer, began in 1994 when he first began designing projects on his own home; shortly after, family and friends noticed his exquisite talent for design and began hiring him for their own home projects which, ultimately, led him to create a full-time business out of it. Growing up, Larry was greatly influenced and inspired by his grandfather, who was also an architect and a set designer for Paramount Studios in the 1940s. To this day, Larry still has a set design blueprint from a Bing Crosby film on his living room wall that is reminiscent of his childhood. Larry’s previous careers in art direction and illustration gave him a unique perspective on designing homes. Larry stated, “My goal is to create spaces that reflect the aspirations of my clients, and I strive to design homes that are efficient, tactful and, most importantly, sustainable.” Services offered by Martinhouse Designs include schematic design (conceptual floor plans); design development (the refinement of the above concepts); construction documents (measured drawings and general material specifications to be used for construction, bidding and/or permitting purposes) and construction oversight (as needed).

DRIVER’S NOTEBOOK

Top Down, Take the Wheel WHAT IT FEELS LIKE TO TAME A BULL, THE NEW LAMBORGHINI HURACAN PERFORMANTE SPYDER

ARTICLE ROSLYN BOND | PHOTOGRAPHY LESSON MEDRANO 28

Austin Life | July 2019

UPON SLIDING INTO THE DRIVER’S SEAT OF THE 2019 HURACAN PERFORMANTE SPYDER, YOU FEEL AS IF YOU HAVE JUST ENTERED THE COCKPIT OF A JET. Lifting the lever and pushing the red button awakens a beast of an animal as the engine growls ferociously. After all, Lamborghini was created to represent the spirit of a bull. When you take the wheel of this powerful, sleek car, the pure exhilaration of the drive completely takes over your senses. 2018 was the first year the Huracan Performante Spyder hit the Lamborghini market and has since become the most popular sold car for Lamborghini. “Here at Lamborghini Austin,” says sales ambassador, Juan Carlos Paramo, “We give people an excitement that they may have forgotten was there when you get behind the wheel of one of our powerful and sophisticated machines.” This vehicle has been re-engineered in its entirety, in regards to its weight, engine power and chassis. Above all, they have introduced an innovative system of Active Lamborghini Aerodynamics (ALA). The Performante incorporates Lamborghini’s forged carbon composite materials for both exterior and interior function. The interior fittings are made from the highest quality materials, including a combination of leather, Alcantara and forged carbon composite—the seats are made of carbon fiber. Besides its extraordinary technological innovations, it also conveys a new idea of beauty. The Huracán Performante has decided to lower its roof and transform itself into the Spyder with the highest performance that the Huracán family has ever seen. Its lines are designed to thrill at first sight, and its state-of-the-art technology has been developed to provide a one-of-a-kind driving experience. Weighing in at 35 kg less than the Huracán 4WD Spyder and with 30 HP more, this newest addition to the House of the Raging Bull vaunts the best power-toweight ratio in the Huracán Spyder range. The Huracán Performante Spyder—power has become breathtakingly beautiful. Visit your local Lamborghini Austin dealer today and meet the crew that brings the spirit of performance and sophistication to life every day.
