Strength, Connection, and the Power of Women

Our Ladies’ Issue celebrates strength, connection, and the many ways women shape our communities, businesses, and families. It is a reminder that leadership is not defined by title alone, but by influence, resilience, and the willingness to lift others along the way.

In this issue, we are proud to highlight stories that reflect the heart of collaboration and the power of meaningful relationships. Our feature, Power of Partnership, showcases how women are coming together to create opportunities, build thriving businesses, and support one another, leaving a lasting impact. These partnerships are not just professional; they are deeply personal, rooted in trust, shared vision, and a commitment to growth.

We also take a moment to reflect in Honoring Mom , a tribute to the women who have shaped us from the very beginning. Whether through guidance, sacrifice, or unwavering support, mothers and mother figures continue to influence generations in ways that cannot be measured.

Equally important, this issue shines a light on the mental health of young women, an essential and timely conversation. As they navigate the pressures of academics, social expectations, and an increasingly digital world, prioritizing emotional well-being has never been more critical. Through this feature, we aim to raise awareness, foster open dialogue, and support the next generation of strong, confident women.

This issue is for every woman forging her own path, every mentor offering guidance, and every individual who believes in the strength found in unity. It is also for those who champion and support the women around them.

Thank you for being part of a community that values connection, celebrates leadership, and recognizes the incredible impact of women every day.

He understands that success in athletics is closely tied to success in the classroom, and he is determined to improve in both areas.

Looking ahead, his aspirations continue to grow. He hopes to play collegiate baseball, taking his skills and dedication to the next level. With his work ethic, competitive spirit, and commitment to improvement, he is well on his way to achieving that goal.

Congratulations to Fletcher and his selection as the May Outstanding Student-Athlete of the Month!

POWERof PARTNERSHIP

Building Bigger Together: The Vision Behind Collin Grayson Regional Chamber

In a rapidly growing North Texas region where opportunities are expanding just as quickly as the population, collaboration is no longer a luxury; it is a necessity. The Collin Grayson Regional Chamber represents a bold and forward-thinking approach to business development, one that breaks traditional boundaries and brings communities together under a shared vision of growth, connection, and long-term success.

At its core, the regional chamber model is simple yet powerful: uniting neighboring communities to create a stronger, more resilient business ecosystem. As outlined in the chamber’s materials, “together, as a region, we will build a strong and resilient business community supporting one another to grow.” This guiding philosophy is more than a statement; it is the foundation for a new era of economic collaboration across cities like Anna, Melissa, and surrounding communities.

A UNIFIED VOICE FOR GROWTH

One of the most compelling advantages of a regional chamber is its ability to amplify the voice of its members. Rather than individual cities operating in silos, the CGR Chamber creates a unified front for regional economic development. This alignment allows businesses to advocate more effectively for pro-business policies while positioning the region as a prime destination for investment, relocation, and innovation.

By bringing together diverse industries and professionals, the chamber fosters a network that spans multiple urban areas. This diversity is critical in today’s interconnected economy, where partnerships and cross-industry collaboration drive meaningful

growth. Members gain access not only to local opportunities but also to a broader regional marketplace, increasing visibility and unlocking new revenue streams.

LEADERSHIP BUILT FOR REPRESENTATION

Strong leadership is essential to any successful organization, and the CGR Chamber has built a structure designed for fairness, representation, and strategic growth. The Board of Directors includes equal representation from key communities, ensuring all voices are heard as the chamber evolves.

The governance model features both a Board at Large, guiding overall direction, and an Executive Board, responsible for strategic recommendations. This structure balances big-picture planning with efficient decision-making. Supporting this leadership team is a dedicated staff, including a President/CEO (Angie Toles), Membership Coordinator (Jessica Slaughter), and Events Coordinator (Jenifer Florence), all working together to execute the chamber’s mission and support its members.

EXPANDING OPPORTUNITIES THROUGH CONNECTION

One of the most immediate benefits of joining a regional chamber is access to expanded networking opportunities. Traditional chambers often limit interactions to a single city, but the CGR Chamber removes those boundaries, enabling businesses to connect with a wider Audience.

This expanded reach translates directly into growth. Members can form partnerships, exchange referrals, and pursue opportunities that may not exist within a smaller network. The chamber

“Collaboration across cities creates stronger businesses, deeper connections, and lasting economic impact for the entire region.”

also provides tools designed to connect experts and facilitate regional expansion, helping businesses scale more efficiently.

Regular events play a key role in fostering these connections. From twice-monthly Coffee and Connections meetings to monthly After-Hours events hosted at member locations, the chamber creates consistent opportunities for relationship building. These are complemented by ribbon cuttings, grand openings, and quarterly member showcases, ensuring businesses of all sizes have a platform to be seen and celebrated.

SAVING TIME AND MAXIMIZING VALUE

Beyond networking, the regional chamber model offers efficiencies that save both time and money. By pooling resources and coordinating efforts, the CGR Chamber promotes the entire region as an attractive place to live, work, and invest. This collective approach enhances marketing impact while reducing the burden on individual businesses.

Members benefit from belonging to one chamber while reaching multiple cities, streamlining involvement, and maximizing return on investment. Tiered membership levels further ensure businesses can select options aligned with their needs and goals.

An especially appealing incentive is the opportunity for new members from other chambers to experience the CGR Chamber with an initial six-month membership at no cost. This trial period reflects the organization’s confidence in its value and its commitment to making regional collaboration accessible.

MARKETING THAT WORKS

In today’s competitive landscape, visibility is essential. The CGR Chamber offers a range of advertising opportunities designed to help members stand out. From banner ads in the business directory to homepage features and video placements on the chamber website, businesses can leverage multiple channels to reach their target audience.

Members also benefit from weekly e-blasts distributed to more than 1,500 contacts, providing a direct line to potential customers and partners. Additionally, marketing materials are included in New Resident Bags distributed throughout growing communities, helping businesses connect with new residents immediately.

The chamber’s annual Membership Directory and Community Magazine further extends this reach, with thousands of copies distributed each year and plans for continued

growth. A digital version enhances accessibility by linking ads directly to business websites, creating seamless opportunities for engagement.

EDUCATION AND ONGOING SUPPORT

Growth does not happen in isolation, and the CGR Chamber is committed to equipping its members with the tools they need to succeed.

Sponsored Lunch and Learns provide insights into new technologies, processes, and industry trends, helping businesses stay competitive in an evolving market.

These educational opportunities, combined with the chamber’s network and resources, create a strong support system. Whether a business is just starting or preparing to expand, the chamber offers guidance, connections, and opportunities at every stage.

A VISION FOR THE FUTURE

The Collin Grayson Regional Chamber is more than an organization; it is a movement toward a more collaborative and prosperous future. By breaking down geographic barriers and fostering a culture of shared success, the chamber is redefining how local businesses connect and grow.

As the region continues to expand, the importance of this unified approach will only increase. The CGR Chamber stands as a testament to the power of partnership, proving that when communities come together, they can achieve far more than they could alone. In the end, the chamber’s mission is clear: to build all member businesses throughout the region professionally and effectively. In doing so, it helps shape a stronger, more connected future for everyone involved. Please call 972-924-8533 to join.

LIGHT, VIBRANT CITRUS COCKTAIL WITH SUBTLE SWEETNESS, SPARKLING FINISH, EASY TO MAKE, PERFECT FOR SUMMER.

SUNSET CITRUS SPRITZ

Ingredients (Serves 2)

• 3 oz fresh orange juice (about 2 oranges)

• 2 oz fresh grapefruit juice

• 2 oz vodka (or gin for a botanical twist)

• 1 oz elderflower liqueur

• 1–2 tsp honey or simple syrup (to taste)

• Sparkling water or prosecco (to top)

• Ice

• Orange slices, grapefruit wedges, and fresh mint (for garnish)

Directions

1. Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Add the orange juice, grapefruit juice, vodka, elderflower liqueur, and honey or simple syrup. Shake for 15–20 seconds until well chilled and slightly frothy, allowing the citrus to fully blend with the floral notes.

2. Fill two tall or wine glasses with fresh ice. Strain the mixture evenly between the glasses, filling each about two-thirds full. Top with sparkling water for a lighter, more refreshing drink, or prosecco for a more celebratory, bubbly finish.

3. Gently stir to combine, preserving the drink’s effervescence. Garnish with a slice of orange, a wedge of grapefruit, and a sprig of fresh mint. The presentation should mirror a soft summer sunset—warm, glowing, and inviting.

When summer calls for something light, vibrant, and effortlessly refreshing, the Sunset Citrus Spritz delivers. This cocktail blends bright citrus flavors with a hint of sweetness and a sparkling finish, perfect for poolside afternoons, patio evenings, or casual gatherings with friends. juice brings natural brightness, while the grapefruit introduces a subtle bitterness that adds depth. Elderflower liqueur lends a delicate floral layer, creating a smooth, elevated finish that feels both crisp and refined

Tips & Variations:

For a non-alcoholic version, omit the vodka and elderflower liqueur, replacing them with elderflower syrup or a citrus-forward sparkling beverage. For added color and flavor, try muddling fresh berries such as strawberries or raspberries before shaking. When serving a crowd, scale the recipe into a chilled pitcher. Combine all ingredients except the sparkling element in advance, then top with bubbles just before serving for maximum freshness. Light, citrusy, and effortlessly elegant, the Sunset Citrus Spritz is a perfect signature sip for summer gatherings.

Honoring

Mom

Celebrating the Heart of Every Home

There are few roles in life as constant, complex, and quietly heroic as that of a mother. She is often the steady rhythm behind the scenes, the early riser, the latenight listener, the one who remembers the details others forget.

Motherhood doesn’t come with a single definition. It is not limited to biology, nor is it confined to a specific season of life. Mothers are caregivers, mentors, providers, encouragers, and protectors. They are the ones who celebrate our wins as if they were their own and carry our burdens when we feel too weary to lift them ourselves. Whether it’s a new mom navigating sleepless nights or a grandmother

watching generations grow, each stage of motherhood carries its own kind of strength, grace, and quiet resilience.

At its core, honoring moms begins with recognition, truly seeing what they do. Much of a mother’s work is invisible. It lives in the routines: packing lunches, managing schedules, keeping a household running, and offering emotional support through every high and low. These acts may not always make headlines, but they are the threads that hold families together. Acknowledging that effort, both privately and publicly, is one of the most meaningful gifts we can offer.

Mother’s Day also invites us to celebrate the individuality of every mom. Some thrive in bustling households filled with activity, while others create calm, nurturing environments where connection takes center stage. Some are working professionals balancing careers and family life; others devote their days fully to the home. Many do both, often seamlessly shifting roles throughout the day. There is no single “right” way to be a mother, only the authentic way each woman shows up for the people she loves, day after day.

Thoughtful gestures can make this day especially meaningful. While flowers and brunch have become tradition, the most impactful gifts are

often the most personal. A handwritten letter expressing gratitude, a shared experience, or simply uninterrupted time together can resonate far more deeply than anything wrapped in a box. It’s about creating moments that say, “I see you. I appreciate you. You matter.” These are the gifts that linger long after the day has passed.

For families with young children, Mother’s Day becomes an opportunity to create traditions that grow over time. Homemade cards, breakfast in bed, or even small acts of service like taking over daily tasks, can teach children the importance of appreciation and gratitude. These simple gestures help shape character, teaching the next generation that honoring others is not reserved for holidays but should be woven into everyday life.

MOTHER’S DAY IS MORE THAN A DATE ON THE CALENDAR, IT’S A MOMENT TO SLOW DOWN, REFLECT, AND TRULY HONOR THE WOMEN WHOSE LOVE, SACRIFICES, AND QUIET STRENGTH SHAPE OUR LIVES IN COUNTLESS SEEN AND UNSEEN WAYS, LEAVING A LASTING IMPRINT ON OUR HEARTS FOREVER.

For adult children, the day often takes on a deeper meaning. As life becomes busier and responsibilities grow, there is a greater understanding of all that mothers have done and continue to do. A phone call, a visit, or a shared meal becomes more than routine; it becomes a way to reconnect and express thanks that may have gone unspoken in earlier years. Time, in this season, becomes one of the most valuable gifts we can give.

It’s also important to recognize that Mother’s Day can be complex for some. For those who have lost their mothers, are navigating difficult relationships, or long to become mothers themselves, the day can carry a mix of emotions. Honoring moms, in its truest sense, includes holding space for those experiences as well, offering compassion, understanding, and quiet support where it’s needed most. Sensitivity and kindness can make all the difference.

Communities play a powerful role in celebrating motherhood. Local events, church gatherings, school programs, and neighborhood traditions all contribute to a collective sense of appreciation. Whether it’s a simple recognition at a community event or a shared celebration among friends and

neighbors, these moments remind us that motherhood is not a solitary journey; it is supported, strengthened, and uplifted by the people around us.

In today’s fast-paced world, where schedules are full and distractions are constant, taking time to honor moms requires intention. It means slowing down, being present, and choosing connection over convenience. It’s less about perfection and more about sincerity. A meaningful moment doesn’t have to be elaborate, just has to be genuine.

Ultimately, honoring moms is not meant to be confined to a single day. While Mother’s Day serves as a beautiful reminder, the spirit of appreciation can, and should, extend throughout the year. A simple “thank you,” a helping hand, or a moment of recognition can have a lasting impact far beyond one Sunday in May. Consistency in appreciation is what truly honors the role mothers play.

Because at the heart of every home, every family, and every story worth telling, there is often a mother, loving, guiding, and shaping the world in ways that matter more than words can fully express. Let’s honor not just what they do, but who they are.

BECKY HILLYARD

From Side Hustle to Style Empire

The power of taste, trust, and the courage to “just start.”

She didn’t have a business plan, a media budget, or even a name anyone could pronounce. What Becky Hillyard had was taste, a young family, and the instinct to just start. Today, her lifestyle brand Cella Jane commands an audience the size of Vogue’s, she’s nine collections strong with Splendid, and she’s built it all while raising three kids — refusing to sacrifice one for the other. In an exclusive conversation for the Share the Lifestyle podcast, Becky shares what it really takes to build a brand, a career, and a life you love. Read the highlights below, then scan the QR code for the full conversation.

Q: WHEN DID YOU KNOW CELLA JANE WAS MORE THAN A HOBBY?

A: Two moments. Women started emailing me saying they bought something I recommended and felt amazing — asking me to help them find a dress for a wedding. That felt incredible. Then I looked at my affiliate numbers for one month and realized I could cover our mortgage. I thought, I can actually do this. I never set out to build a business. I started it because I genuinely loved it.

Becky in Splendid x @CellaJaneBlog Spring 2026 Collection

Q: WHAT WAS THE BIGGEST RISK YOU EVER TOOK WITH THE BRAND?

A: Designing my own collection. It’s easy to point at items on a website and say I love these. But to create something from scratch, put your name on it, and wait to see if people connect with it — that’s terrifying. I had an incredible partner in Splendid, and women loved the pieces. It was the biggest risk and the biggest accomplishment.

Q: HOW HAS INFLUENCER MARKETING CHANGED SINCE YOU STARTED?

A: When I started, brands didn’t know whether to take it seriously. Now it’s a legitimate line item in their marketing budgets — sometimes bigger than TV. Because what we’ve built is trust. People trust a real recommendation from someone they follow far more than a commercial. There’s no question about it now.

Q: YOU’RE A MOM OF THREE RUNNING A FULL BRAND. WHAT DOES YOUR DAY ACTUALLY LOOK LIKE?

A: I try to get up at five and not hit snooze — that first hour before the house wakes up is the most productive, most peaceful hour of my day. Then it’s all hands on deck with the kids and school drop-off. After that I work — planning content, connecting with my team, editing. After pickup, the day shifts completely and it’s all about them. I’ve learned to protect both halves fiercely, because both matter.

Q: WHAT WOULD YOU TELL SOMEONE WHO WANTS TO BUILD SOMETHING OF THEIR OWN BUT KEEPS WAITING?

A: Don’t wait. Don’t wait for the perfect camera, the right strategy, or enough followers. We find every excuse to stay comfortable. Just start, be consistent, and be authentically yourself. The right people will find you — and they’ll stay.

This conversation is just the beginning. Becky goes deeper on the risks that almost stopped her, the design process behind her latest Splendid collection, and what she’d tell her 2012 self today. Scan the QR code for the full, exclusive City Lifestyle interview on the Share the Lifestyle Podcast.

The Teenage Years

Supporting Young Women’s Mental Health

With May being Mental Health Awareness Month, it is an important time to focus on supporting teenage girls as they navigate these formative years. Adolescence is full of growth, self-discovery, and new experiences, but it can also bring pressures that affect confidence, mood, and overall mental well-being. Between academics, friendships, and social media, many teens feel the weight of expectations, which can contribute to anxiety, selfdoubt, and stress.

Social media can intensify these pressures. Constant exposure to edited posts or idealized portrayals of peers and influencers can make teens question themselves and their choices. Encouraging young women to spend more time with friends in person helps provide grounding and perspective. Real-life interactions give them support, laughter, and connection in ways that online interactions cannot entirely replace.

Maintaining open communication is essential. Parents, guardians, and mentors should check in regularly, ask thoughtful questions, and listen without judgment. Teens may not always voice their struggles, so noticing changes in behavior is equally important. Pulling away from activities they usually enjoy, spending less time with family or friends, sudden mood changes, or a drop in school performance can all signal that a teen might need support.

Encouraging participation in social and extracurricular activities can make a meaningful difference. Sports, clubs, volunteering, creative projects, or small gatherings with friends offer opportunities for connection, personal growth, and confidence-building. Activities away from screens help teens develop resilience, strengthen friendships, and form a positive sense of self.

Practical habits can also reinforce mental wellness. Journaling, mindfulness exercises, or other forms of self-expression give teens tools to manage stress. Modeling healthy routines, such as adequate sleep, regular physical activity, and balanced nutrition, demonstrates the value of self-care. Family routines, shared meals, or other consistent interactions provide stability and reassurance during these transitional years.

Professional support is another important resource. Therapists, counselors, and school social workers provide guidance and tools

specifically for teenage girls. While apps and online programs can offer helpful tips, in-person support creates a safe space for teens to be heard and to develop strategies for managing stress. Programs designed to build confidence, emotional skills, and social awareness can empower teens to take an active role in their mental well-being.

Adolescence is a time of tremendous potential. With adults who listen, stay involved, and encourage meaningful social connections, young women can navigate challenges with resilience and confidence. This May, as we recognize Mental Health Awareness Month, it is worth remembering that supporting teens is not only about addressing struggles but also about helping them thrive. Encouraging in-person friendships,

screen-free activities, and access to guidance and therapy can make a lasting difference, equipping young women to grow into strong, confident, and capable individuals.

Schools and communities also play a vital role. Creating safe, inclusive environments where teens feel valued and supported fosters belonging. Peer mentorship programs, wellness initiatives, and trusted adult relationships can further strengthen confidence and emotional well-being during these important years. Strong role models and consistent encouragement help reinforce positive habits, self-worth, and a sense of purpose in everyday life.
