Get ready to dazzle this holiday season with the hottest style trends of 2024.
1. Long Trench Coats - Style them with anything from leggings and a t- shirt to over a formal dress to keep yourself warm and on trend.
2. Warm Neutrals - After years of cool greys, lean into the warmer tones of brown and creams. Color combinations like blue (all shades,) greens and pinks with brown will be everywhere.
3. Mesh - The mesh and lace look to add texture to any look is not going anywhere. Take a lace or mesh shirt and wear it over a slip dress - voila - a brand new outfit!

The Artistry of Chelsey Rogers
Chelsey Rogers, a self-taught mural artist based in northeast DFW, has made a name for herself by turning spaces into personalized works of art. Her journey into mural painting began unexpectedly fourteen years ago after the birth of her son, sparked by fond memories of painting with her father at rental properties during summer breaks. What started as a newfound passion blossomed into a thriving career driven by dedication and a commitment to creating beauty wherever she goes.
Having explored diverse career paths— from banking to teaching mathematics and eventually finding fulfillment in high school art education—Chelsey ventured into entrepreneurship in 2018 with ColorHype. Initially a side venture alongside her teaching job, ColorHype offered painting classes that quickly gained popularity. However, with the onset of the pandemic in 2020, Chelsey pivoted her focus. Undeterred, she adapted by launching virtual classes and shipping art kits across Dallas, serving clients ranging from individuals to corporate giants like Dell and Toyota. Amidst this whirlwind, her passion for murals flourished, driven by growing demand for her artistic touch in homes, businesses, and vacation properties.
Chelsey understands that murals are more than mere decorations—they are transformative statements that can enhance the style and personality of any room. Through close collaboration with homeowners, she ensures each mural reflects their unique tastes and complements existing decor seamlessly. Whether crafting a serene nature scene for a bedroom retreat, a vibrant cityscape for a living room, or a whimsical theme for a children's play area, Chelsey's murals are tailored to resonate with the inhabitants' lifestyles and preferences. "For me, each mural is a collaborative journey," Chelsey shares. "I draw inspiration directly from my clients' visions and preferences. It's about bringing their ideas to life in a way that adds a unique, personal touch to their spaces."
Her creative process begins digitally, using tools like Procreate to create detailed mockups that seamlessly integrate with a room's existing decor. This approach enhances accuracy and allows clients to visualize the final result before Chelsey applies a brushstroke. Her preferred materials, including Behr Enamel and Urethane Alkyd Exterior Paints, ensure durability and vibrant colors suitable for various surfaces—from interior walls to outdoor installations.
When discussing the impact of her murals on room ambiance, Chelsey notes, "A well-placed mural can completely transform a space, adding a 'wow' factor that was previously missing. Whether it's a whimsical children's room or an elegant dining area, the right mural elevates the entire atmosphere."
Looking ahead, Chelsey is excited about emerging trends in mural art, particularly in spaces like game rooms and home theaters. She also plans to expand her artistic repertoire by exploring airbrush techniques, which promise greater efficiency for larger projects.

How old were you when you started thinking about your skin health? The answer is probably not young enough! According to Board Certified Nurse Practitioner Jennifer Adams, “Our skin should be top of mind as we enter our early 20s, because that is when people start to lose collagen at a rate of 1% a year.” That means by the time someone reaches their 40s, they have already lost 20% of their collagen. “Basically, everything starts to fall towards the floor, and it usually feels like it happens overnight,” says Jennifer, FNP-C, MSN, and owner of Haute Beauty Aesthetics. She says that the #1 beauty trend of today is “the longevity effect.” She describes collagen as a thick net that gives the face structure, and as you age, that collagen net gets thinner. Jennifer says that treating your skin with medical-grade skincare products could help someone have younger-looking skin for longer and require fewer corrective treatments as they age.
Skin aging happens gradually, and people usually seek out aesthetic treatments initially because of wrinkles between their eyes, on their forehead, and in their crow’s feet. Jennifer calls these wrinkles “dynamic” because they form with muscle movement. She says to think of your skin in those areas like a piece of fan-folded paper—when the muscle is contracted with movement, the skin makes a crease (wrinkle), becoming deeper and deeper over time. Neurotoxins work by weakening the muscle, resulting in no

“crease” or wrinkle for a period of about 3-4 months. Jennifer tackles collagen loss by using bio-stimulating injections in the face and neck, which help regenerate with products like Sculptra (poly-lactic acid) and/or Radiesse (Calcium Hydroxylapatite) in a diluted form. “These two products are two of my favorite treatments due to the significant regeneration of collagen (Sculptra) or collagen and elastin (Radiesse) in the area we inject it,” says Jennifer.
The #2 trend in skincare is… sunscreen. Jennifer says, “The sun is our biggest enemy and accelerator of aging. We need to do everything we can to protect ourselves from it to reduce the signs of premature aging.” At Haute Beauty Aesthetics, they offer multiple options for medical-grade sunscreens that can and should be used every day as part of one’s morning skincare routine. By using a good sunscreen, you slow down the effects of the sun on aging and maintain a glow rather than having overdried, sun-damaged skin. Jennifer says she and her 11-year-old daughter use the medical-grade tinted sunscreen daily, which is important in preventing sun damage from an early age.
The final skincare trend that we’re seeing in 2024 is the use of retinol. Products like retinol, when used overnight several times a week, help speed cell turnover. The quicker your cells turn over, the more youthful your skin appears, improving fine lines and wrinkles. As we age, the elasticity and bounce back of our skin starts to slow down or stiffen. Retinol should be used sparingly because it can be drying and irritating to the skin at first, so it’s important to use it under the care of your practitioner. Retinol helps reduce hyperpigmentation, as well as acne and scarring, and it can improve skin’s texture. It’s important to include your neck and décolletage in your skincare routine, as these are both areas very exposed to the sun and its aging effects, and often give away a person’s true age.
A good medical-grade skincare routine followed by strategically timed treatments can be the ultimate game-changer when it comes to aging gracefully. Make sure you schedule a consultation with an injector and find the proper skin care and treatment regimen that will work for you.

Offering the most trending styles in the world of precious stones, Allen's Hashtag Fine Jewelry is the brainchild of two women whose partnership is just as rare as the diamonds they sell.
Khadejeh "Coco" Sayed and Anjali Agarwal's co-ownership of Hashtag Fine Jewelers represents one of only two female diamond partnerships in the metroplex. Their unique venture is further underscored by their vast experience. One hails from India, one of the biggest international markets for diamonds and precious stones, and the other from Dubai, a place
where fashion and luxury are ever-present. Both come from families steeped in fine-jewelry tradition, which helps them cut out the middleman and offer clients wholesale prices in a very retail environment.
Nevertheless, they offer two different perspectives. Agarwal spent 15 years as a diamond wholesaler, and that is how she met Coco, who worked 15 years in retail, designing, and manufacturing. Their combined expertise in the wholesale and retail aspects of fine jewelry led them to open their Hashtag store in December 2022.
In keeping with this year’s most popular trends nationwide, Hashtag Fine Jewelers’ inventory includes layered necklaces, cuff bracelets, hoop earrings, stackable and fancy shapes, and plenty of yellow gold jewelry, which, according to Vogue magazine, has seen a recent renaissance on fashion runways worldwide. SUMMER END of CRAB BOIL

I love family-style meals such as a crab boil this time of year. The food is the star of the show and a vital part of the tablescape – decor optional! Additional elements included here are a large paper-sail, light blue taper candles, a few large flowers, and heavy white rope as nautical accents. You can also use other elements such as large seashells, coral or seaglass. Use whatever you have on hand that nods to the sea.

Galvanized Tavern Mugs
Crab Napkin Rings
Crab Salt & Pepper
Crab Bottle Opener
Parchment Paper
Paper-Sail Centerpiece (instructions found in Martha Stewart’s book “Handmade Holiday Crafts” page 248) set in a galvanized bucket filled with white sand.
Blue Taper Candles placed in 8oz jelly jars filled with white sand.
Glass Bottles labeled “Let’s Sail Away.” Inside, roll up a handwritten note, joke or riddle for guests to enjoy a chuckle or conversation starter.
Large Galvanized Tray overlaid with parchment paper to hold the crab boil feast.
Fill a large stock pot halfway with cold water. Season with lemon peels, bay leaves, black pepper, red pepper flakes, Old Bay Seasoning, and garlic powder. Bring to a boil and add crab legs, sausage, potatoes, and corn until cooked. Strain water and serve on a large galvanized tray, newspaper or parchment paper – enjoy your meal with guests, family style!
Give each guest a bowl of garlic butter for dipping as well as lemons for squeezing (wrapped in cheesecloth and tied with twine to avoid seeds).
Include special beverages and desserts such as a tiered lemon cake or frozen treat to beat the heat.

Faizan Zaki: Rising Star in Spelling Competitions
Seventh grader Faizan Zaki chose to start spelling competitively in the first grade since it was fun. Once Faizan realized he was “pretty good” at it, it seemed he couldn’t be stopped from doing his best.
“Pretty good” can hardly describe the large collection of medals and trophies he has accumulated throughout the past few years. Faizan began seriously studying two years ago, often spending up to seven hours a day with his dictionary. His father beams when sharing about Faizan, showing how proud he is of both Faizan’s dedication to studying and his accomplishments. Faizan’s hard work led to him receiving the second place trophy for the Scripps National Spelling Bee. He is hoping he will win the first place prize next year!
