LPU’s BA in Psychology offers a multidisciplinary perspective on human behavior and development with biblical integration, preparing students for careers in the helping professions Upon graduation, students can obtain jobs in social service agencies, working with children and adults in their communities, or pursue graduate degrees in fields such as social work, marriage and family therapy, professional counseling, and educational and psychological services Every student gains real-world experience through an internship, applying their learning in practical settings. The Master of Arts in Counseling (MAC) prepares students for a career in the mental health professions with a firm foundation of psychological theory, research, and spiritual formation as practitioners This program is designed to expand student knowledge and expertise in the field of counseling services while developing Christian counseling professionals for a career dedicated to improving the lives of others. This program prepares students for the challenges of the mental health profession by applying current psychological theory integrated with solid biblical principles in spirit-filled practice throughout the curriculum

The 63-unit curriculum of the M A in Counseling consists of a series of twenty-one courses which build upon each other to achieve the program goals All courses will run for eight weeks online and include a 12-month practicum The courses will be both synchronous and asynchronous For course descriptions, please see the LPU Catalog

As a Professional Clinical Counselor, there is an option to exercise portability of one ’ s license to alternate states Oftentimes, students feel that the pursuit of a degree and license binds them to a particular state, in this case California To clarify, that is not the case There are certain requirements for each state and licensees can have an opportunity to seek career opportunities in geographic locations outside of California

The Master of Arts in Strategic Leadership (MASL) serves leaders who have a bachelor’s degree and desire to pursue further specialized education and develop additional skills in leadership and ministry

FORMAT & SCHEDULE

Students go through the program as part of a cohort of 12 to 20 people. The cohort moves as a group from class to class through the sequential, 36-unit curriculum. Students begin the program with a one-week on-campus residency, followed by four weeks of online work They then transition to a series of five eight-week-long online courses that are scheduled one at a time, back to back The program ’ s second year follows the same structure, with one week of residency, four weeks of online work to complete the residency coursework, and five more eight-week-long classes Cohorts begin in January and July The academic schedule allows for several weeks’ break at Christmas/New Year’s and during late June/early July

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

The Master of Divinity is LPU’s premiere professional degree for pastoral ministry and chaplaincy It is a comprehensive program of study that prepares those called to full-time vocational ministry for effective Christcentered leadership in the midst of a rapidly changing world This degree offers the acquisition and integration of knowledge and skills in the areas of biblical studies, theology, spiritual development, intercultural awareness, and practical ministry for the purpose of relevant application in respective ministry settings The M Div is also widely recognized as the prerequisite degree for Doctor of Ministry programs

The 72-unit curriculum of the Master of Divinity consists of a series of twenty courses which build upon each other to achieve the program goals The first 44 units comprise the MATS core curriculum minus the Theological Capstone The final 28 units are weighted toward the acquisition and refinement of practical ministry skills and competencies The second and eighth courses run for five weeks and include a one-week residency

PROGRAM STRUCTURE

The program can be completed within three years and consists of 33 credit hours comprised of core courses, research design courses, and a final doctoral project Students will engage in advanced studies in Pentecostal theology, leadership, spiritual formation, and ministry practice, alongside project-based courses tailored to study their unique ministry context.

OVERVIEW ACCREDITATION

LPU is accredited by the Association of Biblical Higher Education and the WASC Senior College and University Commission. Students will benefit from our team of faculty and staff are top-of-the-line servant-leaders However, the online certificate program is designed as a not-for-credit program which allows us to offer it at a very low cost Students will have the option to choose between a Standard Track and Advanced Track Students in the Advanced Track will complete additional work which provides the opportunity to qualify for Credit for Prior Learning towards an accredited degree program at LPU

The NextGen Certificate is designed to equip and empower leaders with the knowledge, skills, and spiritual foundation needed to effectively disciple and mentor the next generation This program focuses on developing a strong personal foundation in Christ, fostering a healthy ministry lifestyle, and cultivating leadership habits that promote long-term impact Through biblical teaching, practical ministry strategies, and exposure to various models of NextGen ministry, students will gain the tools to effectively engage and teach today’s youth in a way that is both culturally relevant and theologically sound Additionally, the program emphasizes the importance of spiritual emotional and mental well-being ensuring leaders can sustain a thriving ministry while investing in the holistic growth of those they serve With a balance of theological depth, practical application, and leadership development, the NextGen Certificate provides a comprehensive framework for those called to lead the next generation with wisdom, purpose, and resilience

ACCREDITATION

LPU is accredited by the Association of Biblical Higher Education and the WASC Senior College and University Commission Students will benefit from our team of faculty and staff are top-of-the-line servant-leaders However, the online certificate program is designed as a not-for-credit program which allows us to offer it at a very low cost Students will have the option to choose between a Standard Track and Advanced Track Students in the Advanced Track will complete additional work which provides the opportunity to qualify for Credit for Prior Learning towards an accredited degree program at LPU

*Course requirements may change. Please refer to the current university catalog for the most up-todate curriculum information

*Note to Transfer Students: The number of transferable credits is restricted by the graduation policy requiring that a minimum of 25% of the degree must be completed at LPU A student cannot transfer more than 49% of the chosen major

*Application Deadline: completed applications (including transcripts and supporting documents) are due by November 15th for Spring enrollment and May 15th for Fall enrollment. Admissions decisions on completed applications are made within approximately two weeks.

*Cohorts begin in January and July.
