This year’s wreath bearer and wreath maiden 2026
Axel Alness Borg och Sara Liwång Even though the TCS Lidingöloppet weekend is marked annually by tens of thousands of personal victories, it is a special honor to obtain first place in the world’s largest XC race. TCS Lidingöloppet is therefore proud to present this year’s laurel wreath carriers (kranskulla and kransmas), who will hand out this year’s victory wreaths. It is a long-standing tradition to present victory wreaths to the class winners of the TCS Lidingöloppet. Just like in previous years, this is done by representatives from the race’s two owning clubs. Axel: 800m runner Axel Alness Borg is this year’s wreath bearerIt is an honorable task to place the wreaths on the winners of the TCS Lidingöloppet, and this year’s chosen representatives are well prepared. He is 24 years old and started running for IFK Lidingö SOK mHe has run a time under 1:52. Admittedly, not at Lidingöloppet, but over 800 metres. This makes Axel Alness Borg IFK Lidingö’s fastest 800m runner in recent years. He achieved the feat three years ago, in 2023. That same year, he finished sixth in the Swedish Indoor Championships over the distance. So far, that is his greatest individual achievement at the Swedish Championships. He has yet to win gold, but he has claimed a couple of medals in team events, including a silver in the 4x1500m relay and a silver with IFK Lidingö’s U22 team in cross-country. He ran his first Lilla Lidingöloppet at the age of nine and took part every year until he moved into the junior classes. In total, he competed in Lidingöloppet ten times in the children’s or junior categories. His best result was seventh place. Now 28, Axel is coming off a really good season in which he has been close to setting a new personal best. So there is little doubt that Axel Alness Borg will be able to keep up with the first female finisher down the final stretch – even while dressed in Lidingö’s traditional costume and having to find time to place a wreath around the winner’s neck. How does it feel to have the honor of being crowned this year’s winner in the Lidingö race? Axel: It feels amazing to have the honor of being the wreath bearer. Lidingöloppet is something I grew up with, and I’ve always looked up to those who get to present the wreath. To now be able to do it myself feels truly special. Sara – ara Liwång has been involved in orienteering with IFK Lidingö SOK since she was a child and now competes as a junior. Sara is 18 years old and is in her third year of the Natural Science Programme at Hersby Upper Secondary School. As a youth and junior, Sara has had the 24 opportunity to compete for IFK Lidingö SOK alongside and

against Swedish and international elite athletes. From an early age, she has also been given the chance to run challenging legs in senior relay races. “Orienteering gives me exciting challenges, and it’s fun to know that I still have so much to learn – both about orienteering and, above all, about myself as an orienteer,” says Sara about her sport. “When I was younger, I often did well in sprint orienteering, but I’m beginning to realise that my strength may lie primarily in really demanding long-distance races through difficult, physically challenging terrain.” This season, Sara is focusing on developing her running with the aim of becoming both faster and able to run longer distances. She is also adding some extra strength training to prepare for her military service assessment. However, the summer did not go as planned, as she had to take an extended break from training due to illness. “But now I’m back and training again,” says Sara. Lidingöloppet has always been part of Sara’s life – as a participant in the school relay and Lilla Lidingöloppet, as well as a volunteer. “That’s why it’s so much fun to be the wreath bearer. It’s a great honour and a role right at the centre of the action,” says Sara.

This year’s medal motif Dolphin, 1920
Exciting things happen in Stockholm every day: major events, fascinating exhibitions, thrilling performing arts, guided tours, and unforgettable concerts. Not to mention a fantastic range of restaurants and cafés, as well as unique shopping experiences. And if you feel like escaping the city, this time of year offers a unique chance to explore the archipelago during its magical season.
Water was an important theme in Carl Milles’ art throughout his life. The lakes and forest ponds of his childhood in Uppland, and later his experience of the sea in Normandy, had a strong influence on him. Sea creatures from myth and reality became common motifs in his art, often inspired by Antiquity. He created sculptures of, among other things, fish, naiads, tritons, and gods.
The sculpture was created in the early 1920s, during a period when Carl experimented with creating an illusion of lightness and movement in his heavy bronze sculptures through contact with water. The dolphin appears to be caught in a moment when it has powerfully thrown its body upward and twists around in the air.
At Visit Stockholm, you’ll find guides to help you make the most of your stay, restaurant recommendations for every taste, and tips on exciting events happening while you’re here. 26

The number bib distribution is at Lidingövallen, in connection with the Lidingöloppet expo. Opening hours: Friday 25/9 at 12:00–21:00, Saturday 26/9 at 07:30–15:00 and Sunday 27/9 at 07:30–14:00. Please note that many will pick up their number bibs during Saturday morning. We therefore recommend that you pick up the number bibs at a different time and no later than two hours before the start.
PINK T-SHIRT
Everyone who has ordered a pink t-shirt in connection with their race registration can pick it up at the Rosa Bandet-loppet’s race stand in the Lidingöloppet expo at Lidingövallen. You who have not bought a Rosa Bandetloppet t-shirt can do so at Grönsta Gärde on Sunday 27/9. The T-shirt is available in sizes XS-XL (while supplies last). NEW - This years T-shirt comes in Kidz sizes.
BAGS AND CLOTHING
Bag and clothing drop-off can be found at Grönsta Gärde. If you need a label for your bag or clothing drop-off, you can print one at the Race Number Distribution after receiving your race number. Items can be collected at the same location after the finish, upon presenting your race number. It is not permitted to leave valuables in the clothing bag. For handling of valuables, see the “Good to Know” section later in this starting magazine.
WARM UP
Apollo Sports and STC leads the warm-ups for all races. The warm-up starts 15 minutes before each start.
DURING THE RACE COURSE
The 10 km course follows the same route as the TCS Lidingöloppet 30 km’s last 10 km, in the hilly terrain. The track is marked with pink flags. The kilometer markings show how far there is to the finish line.
LIQUID STATIONS
• 6.3 km from the finish, Uddvägen: sports drink, water, cinnamon bun and bananas (10 km race) • 3 km from the finish, Tyktorp: sports drink, water, bananas (10 km race) • At the finish line: sports drink, water, cinnamon bun bananas (4 km and 10 km races).
AFTER THE RACE MEDAL
Everyone who completes the race receives a bronze medal at the finish line. If you run under 50 minutes for women and under 45 minutes for men, you get a silver medal. Go to the results tent after the finish to check your race time and to exchange your bronze medal for silver medal.
PRIZES
The top 10 finishers will receive prizes. The top six finishers will receive their prizes on stage directly next to the finish tent after the race. Prize winners finishing in places 7–10 can collect their prizes from the prize ceremony tent next to the stage. All participants have a chance to win raffle prizes. Listen for your name and race number at the finish. If you win a prize, collect it from the prize tent next to the main stage.

A pink race for cancer research On sunday you can support the fight as well!
Cancer affects not only the person diagnosed, but also their family, friends, colleagues and others close to them. Yet it can be difficult to know what to say or what to ask. Here, Katja Norberg, registered nurse and expert at the Swedish Cancer Society, explains why we need to be more willing to talk about difficult things. What would you like to highlight during Breast Cancer Awareness Month this year? - We want to highlight the things that can be difficult to put into words when cancer becomes part of life. These might include fear, guilt or shame, financial concerns, relationships, or sudden need to depend on others. Why is it important to talk about this? - The fact that more people survive cancer, or can live long lives with chronic cancer, is truly amazing. But if we don’t also consider how people actually feel alongside the disease, we risk that far too many still won’t be able to live life to the fullest. On top of the unnecessary suffering, this also means economic loss for society at large. There are many situations like these in which we become afraid of saying the wrong thing. And when no one knows how to start the conversation, what remains unsaid can grow into an elephant in the room. Why is it important to talk about difficult things? - Because silence can create distance, and no one should have to face cancer alone. Many people want to support someone who has been diagnosed with cancer but are afraid of saying or doing the wrong thing. As a result, it can feel easier to say nothing at all.
At the same time, it can be difficult for the person with cancer to take the initiative. They may not want to burden others or may not know how to explain how they really feel. This can leave people feeling even more alone with their thoughts and emotions. But how do you know what to say? - There are no perfect words for every situation. You do not need to have all the answers or be able to make things better. Often, the most important thing is simply to show that you are available if needed. You could say, for example: “I don’t really know what to say, but I’m here for you.” Or you could ask: “Would you like to talk about it?” You also need to be prepared for the No as answer. Being willing to ask, share and listen can be a good place to start. What can you do if it feels too difficult to talk to someone you know? That’s where Cancerlinjen, the Swedish Cancer Society’s support line, can help. Both people with cancer and those close to them can contact Cancerlinjen with questions, thoughts and feelings about cancer. It might be something you don’t know how to start talking about with your family, or questions about how to support someone who is ill in the best way. Sometimes you need advice. Sometimes you need help finding the words. And sometimes you simply need someone to listen. The important thing is that difficult things don’t have to remain unsaid. Is there something on your mind? Cancerlinjen is here to listen. cancerfonden.se/cancerlinjen

A Sustainable Experience With nature as our arena, we create sustainable experiences with a focus on health and nature.
TCS Lidingöloppet – Running together for a sustainable future! TCS Lidingöloppet is for everyone regardless of age, background, or previous running experience. We are driven by a desire to contribute to better public health in general, while the surplus goes back to our owner associations and the future of Lidingö – children & youth. TCS Lidingöloppet not only has a vision of being the people’s top running race, but also the ambition to be the world’s most sustainable cross-country race. This ambition runs through all aspects related to the races. The work on social, economic, and environmental sustainability is not something the organization connected to TCS Lidingöloppet can do on its own. Our suppliers and partners play a big role in TCS Lidingöloppet’s goal to continue offering sustainable running events. As a testament to this, the collaboration with PreZero is now deepening through a partnership focused on becoming more circular and efficient with resource. By PreZero implementing their solutions for systematic work with circularity and resource efficiency, they take TCS Lidingöloppet all the way from vision to certified reality. TCS Lidingöloppet also aims for more fossil-free transportation during the race weekend. Our partner Suzuki contributes several electric cars, and some transports will also be done using electric bikes from our partner Livelo.
Health & Challenge Seven races during the weekend – a race for everyone
Joy & Diversity Over 30,000 participants from 83 nations.
These important environmental projects, along with many others, will be evaluated after the race weekend to see how we can apply them on a larger scale going forward. TCS Lidingöloppet aims to provide a social and nature-close experience beyond the ordinary – just as remarkable in the future as it has been since the first race in 1965. Together towards a sustainable future for running!
