THE Difference
DEVELOPING CHRIST-CENTERED MEN and WOMEN with the VALUES, KNOWLEDGE , and SKILLS ESSENTIAL to IMPACT the WORLD

MESSAGE from the PRESIDENT
What began in 1971 as a bold vision with a single classroom has grown into one of the largest Christian universities in the world. Liberty University now stands as a global institution, preparing more than 140,000 students each year to lead lives of purpose, grounded in truth and driven by conviction. Yet even as we’ve grown, our mission remains unchanged: to Train Champions for Christ. In a time when many institutions are drifting from their foundational values, Liberty is pressing forward with clarity and strength. We are not simply building programs; we are shaping principled leaders who think critically, live faithfully, and serve others with humility and courage.
We continue to echo our founder, believing that “if it’s Christian, it ought to be better.”
That’s why Liberty has invested nearly $1 billion in academic and athletic facilities, expanded to over 700 programs of study, and fostered a culture that develops both spiritual depth and professional readiness, forming graduates who are grounded, capable, and ready to lead.
I invite you to walk our campus. Speak with our students, faculty, and staff. Hear their stories, see their work, and witness firsthand what makes Liberty different. You’ll experience a university alive with purpose, setting the pace, and worthy of your partnership as we shape the future together.
In Him,
Dondi E. Costin, Ph.D. President

SCHOOL of AERONAUTICS
The mission of the Liberty University School of Aeronautics (LUSOA) is to equip, mentor, and send Champions for Christ into the aerospace industry. As one of the largest faith-based collegiate aviation programs in the nation, LUSOA offers programs from the certificate to doctoral level. With over 4,000 students enrolled across residential and online formats, the school combines rigorous academics with hands-on training through FAA-approved Part 141 flight and Part 147 maintenance programs, along with five AABI-accredited residential degree programs. Students train using a modern fleet of 33 technically advanced airplanes, 13 technologically advanced simulators, and a 15,000-square-foot aviation maintenance hangar.
LUSOA earned the Loening Trophy — collegiate aviation’s oldest and most prestigious award — four out of the last six times it was presented (2017, 2018, 2019, and 2024), recognizing Liberty as the nation’s top all-around collegiate aviation program. LUSOA students consistently excel in national competitions, such as the Aerospace Maintenance Council competition. In October 2021, two alumni competed on a team that broke a world endurance record for an unmanned internal combustion aircraft.

I was told once by a college recruiter that I’d know the college I was going to attend because I would be able to clearly see myself on the campus. And that’s true. But it wasn’t when I observed students sitting on the Academic Lawn or eating at the Reber-Thomas Dining Center. Rather, I saw myself — or who I believed God was calling me to be — in the student who helped my family when we got lost while touring DeMoss Hall. Her example of God’s love is what won me over to Liberty.

CONFERENCE TITLES IN 2 YEARS

ATHLETICS
During the last two academic years, Liberty Athletics has had the unprecedented ability to showcase how it is Training Champions for Christ who compete at the highest levels of intercollegiate athletics. During this time, 15 of Liberty’s 20 NCAA Division I athletics programs have won a regular season or tournament championship, resulting in a recordsetting 25 total conference titles.
“One of the greatest gifts I have received is the opportunity to attend Liberty University and represent the Lady Flames on a Division I women’s lacrosse field. Over the years, I’ve grown tremendously, not only as a student-athlete but also as a follower of Christ, a teammate, and a person.
Being part of Liberty Women’s Lacrosse program has taught me discipline, perseverance, and the power of unity. I’ve had the privilege of competing alongside teammates who pushed me to be better every day and coaches who invested in my life far beyond the game.
Competing alongside teammates who wanted me
to succeed was something I wasn’t used to, but it's a beautiful picture of walking with Christ in community.
Being involved in the Lynchburg community allowed me to display servant leadership, whether it was reading to local elementary students, visiting my pen pal in a senior living facility, or collecting canned donations for the food shelf. I learned how to live out Colossians 3:23–24 and work hard for the Lord. Liberty helped me understand how working hard in the name of Jesus can bring Him glory.
Academically, Liberty challenged me to think critically and live with integrity. My professors

not only prepared me for a future career but also modeled what it means to live out one’s faith in every environment. I’ve been faithfully supported, personally encouraged, and relentlessly spurred on by a community that truly lives out the Great Commission.
Spiritually, Liberty University has shaped my walk with Christ in a profound way. From Convocation to one-on-one discipleship, I’ve had opportunities to grow in my faith and deepen my understanding of God’s purpose for my life — walking with Jesus every day and shining His light in every environment.
I can truly say that being at Liberty has helped me flourish into the person God willed me to be. This

university has helped me discover how to integrate my passion for sports with a calling to serve and lead in a Christ-like way.
Reflecting on these formative four years, I am incredibly grateful for all the memories, lessons, and relationships that have come from my time here. No matter where the future leads, I will carry the values I’ve learned at Liberty University with me. As I now hang up the Liberty jersey, I’m excited and equipped to wear the Jesus jersey for the rest of my life.”

SCHOOL of BEHAVIORAL SCIENCES

“With about 25,000 students from 48 countries enrolled in 77 programs of study, the School of Behavioral Sciences is the largest school within Liberty University and includes Departments of Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, and Community Care & Counseling. Students and alumni report that our degree programs successfully train them as professionals to establish and articulate authentic faith in their professions in a way that is culturally sensitive and ethical. We teach students in the mental health disciplines how to integrate their faith in winsome and practical ways, as well as how to work with any client in a respectful and loving manner while not necessarily endorsing the client's viewpoint. Students are also taught how to integrate their own faith and that of their clients into the treatment process in a holistic manner.
The School of Behavioral Sciences currently holds CSWE (Social Work) and CACREP (Counseling) national accreditations and recently hosted a site visit for APA (Psychology) accreditation in Fall 2025. This year, in the Psychology Department, a team of undergraduate researchers received distinguished recognition for their exemplary work exploring the multifaceted dimensions of hope. The team — comprising students Zachary Doby, Madison Winstead, Avari Mason, and Isaac Uehling — was led by graduate student John Paul Fryrear under the mentorship of Dr. Brian M. Kelley. Together, they developed a novel 35-item psychometric instrument designed to assess hope across six distinct domains, collectively referred to as the "Powers of Hope." This tool aims to equip mental health professionals, healthcare providers, and clients with actionable insights into an individual’s levels of hope, thereby facilitating more targeted and effective interventions. Their research was presented at multiple academic conferences and earned first place in the Graduate Student Oral Presentations Applied Science Category, as well as third place in the Graduate Student Poster Presentations Applied Science Category, during Liberty University’s Research Week. Driven by the preliminary work and the ongoing dedication of Dr. Brian M. Kelley and Dr. Shawn M. George, these achievements underscore the team's commitment to scientific rigor and practical application, while also reflecting the university’s ongoing support of high-impact student research.”

I think the most significant feature that sets Liberty University apart is the professional connections with faculty it provides, and thus numerous career opportunities. I began my undergraduate career believing I didn't like research, that it wasn't needed in my field. However, I found a project I was passionate about — studying loneliness among Liberty students — with a faculty member I liked, which ultimately opened my mind to the achievements possible through meaningful, Christ-centered research.

COLLEGE of APPLIED STUDIES & ACADEMIC SUCCESS

The College of Applied Studies & Academic Success (CASAS) Technical Studies program stands out as a rare opportunity to pursue trades education within a four-year Christian university. Liberty offers formal training in carpentry, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and welding — each approved by the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER). Students can choose from multiple pathways: an Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) in Technical Studies, a technical studies minor to complement a bachelor’s degree, or an area of study within an interdisciplinary studies degree. Students can also take trade classes as free electives regardless of major. This flexibility allows students to tailor their education to career goals while gaining industry-recognized credentials. The program’s foundational course, CRFT 101, includes OSHA 10 certification and covers essential skills like construction math, tool usage, and blueprint reading.

Being a student in Liberty University's Technical Studies program has truly been a great experience. The opportunity to take two trade courses at a university known for academic excellence and spiritual growth is unheard of. Through the program, I’ve gained handson experience and knowledge in my field while also competing in SkillsUSA, representing Liberty at both the state and national levels. The support from the faculty, volunteers, and resources made available have helped me grow, not just as a student and follower of Christ but as a future professional.

JOHN W. RAWLINGS SCHOOL of DIVINITY
The John W. Rawlings School of Divinity and Liberty University Theological Seminary is, according to the Association of Theological Schools, the largest accredited seminary in the United States. It offers nearly 200 academic programs across all degree levels, with two thirds of them available online. This reach enables Liberty to serve a diverse, global student body — including, based on 2023–24 data from the National Center for Education Statistics, over 33% military-affiliated learners — while maintaining a strong commitment to academic excellence and ministry preparation. With many graduates employed within six months and working directly in their field, Liberty’s model of accessible, mission-driven education is producing tangible, lasting results. We exist to come alongside the local church in its quest to fulfill the Great Commission.

During my time at Liberty, I experienced what it was like to be trained as a Champion for Christ
As a youth ministry student with a focus in pastoral leadership, I was given biblical training to be a vocational minister of the Gospel. Liberty gave me the opportunity to grow in my ability to execute events, articulate theological concepts, and preach the Bible clearly to a designated audience. Being a student in the John W. Rawlings School of Divinity also gave me the opportunity to learn from tenured church ministry leaders. My time training at Liberty has allowed me to grow and faithfully work for the local church. Liberty has also provided me with extensive resources for my future career. The experience gained in classes and internships has opened the way for ministry residencies in the upcoming semester. It will be a time where I am able to use the lessons that I learned in classes and grow in my ability to perform effective church ministry. My time at Liberty was filled with friendship, hard work, and growth, pushing me to be a Champion for Christ.

Through a Christ-centered approach and a commitment to academic excellence, Liberty’s School of Education empowers students to make a meaningful difference in their communities and the world.

Reflecting on my time at Liberty University in the School of Education, I can confidently say that it helped lay the foundation not only for my career in education but also for my life as a whole. One of the defining features of Liberty’s education program is its strong emphasis on in-person practicum experiences. From early on in the program, pre-service teachers are placed in real classrooms, observing and gradually taking on the responsibilities of planning and teaching lessons. This hands-on experience significantly shaped my confidence and competence as an educator. Being immersed in classroom environments helped me connect theory to practice and allowed me to begin building my teacher toolbox long before student teaching officially began. Another distinguishing factor of my education at Liberty was the access to undergraduate research opportunities. I had the privilege of conducting meaningful research in the field of special education, which both sharpened my analytical thinking and writing skills and gave me the opportunity to present my work at professional conferences. These experiences broadened my perspective and gave me a voice in the larger educational community, setting me up to deepen my understanding of evidence-based practices, something that continues to inform my teaching philosophy today. Finally, the relationships I formed at Liberty were transformative. Whether through my coursework, campus clubs, or everyday student life, I developed deep, Christ-centered friendships that remain vital to me today. These relationships have become my support system in adulthood, offering encouragement, wisdom, and accountability. These connections, built on shared faith and a mutual commitment to service, have helped sustain me through the challenges of early career teaching. Liberty prepared me to lead a classroom, but it also helped prepare me for a life of service, grounded in conviction and connection.

My time at Liberty was marked by the people I met each year. My professors in the School of Engineering challenged us to bring God into our work and not just complete the minimum requirements but excel in our positions. It was my coaches who pushed us to train not only our bodies for triathlon races but also our faith to run the race of life well. It was my friends who laughed and joked with me but also shared times of struggle and met those times with encouragement and comfort. These are the relationships that marked my time at Liberty, from which I learned not to just complete school, work, and life for the sake of completion, but for the sake of using the talents and abilities God has given us to bring Him glory. This is the Liberty Difference.

DOMINIQUE DOVE
Unbreakable: A Journey of Faith, Justice, and Service
My journey to becoming an attorney wasn’t a straight path. I didn’t come from a privileged background; therefore, I had to figure out how to pay for my education on my own. I also had to overcome the physical, mental, and spiritual toll of childhood abuse. I carry the scars of a painful childhood, and those experiences could have broken me. However, I used my pain to become an advocate for those who couldn’t speak for themselves, to stand up for the voiceless, and to turn my pain into power.
I did everything I could to go to law school, including living in my car for a semester. It’s hard to describe the feeling of waking up in the middle of the night, in your car, alone. My grades suffered tremendously, but Liberty University School of Law gave me a chance and accepted me. During law school, there were moments of exhaustion, moments when I doubted myself, and moments when others doubted me even more. I worked tirelessly, knowing that my success would break the cycle of abuse. Adversity taught me that resilience is not about avoiding challenges but rising above them. My professors prayed for me, welcomed me and my classmates into their homes, and provided a safe place for us to grow in our relationship with Christ. They also equipped me with the tools to become a zealous advocate for other survivors.
I am currently a government appellate attorney, and I represent the United States during criminal appeals. I have also written and changed Army policy, which positively affects over 400,000 soldiers. I have also been named to Old Dominion University’s 2024 Top 40 Under 40 and the American Bar Association’s Top 40 Young Lawyers of 2024, and I am the reigning Dr. America 2025. Additionally, I volunteer countless hours assisting homeless female veterans and the veteran community. I have been able to accomplish my goal of being an advocate and a pillar in my community because of my strong foundation in Christ and because of Liberty’s commitment to excellence and to service.

I attended Liberty both as an undergraduate and for med school. What's neat about LU is the emphasis on mission at LUCOM. Not a lot of students in other institutions benefit from that. LUCOM also connected me to conferences, networking opportunities, overseas work, and medical missions. LUCOM works to develop not just doctors but medical missionaries, which is what I wanted to be from the beginning. I was provided unique opportunities no other school could provide and everything I needed to achieve my goal.

The term Champion for Christ is a well-worn label throughout each school department at Liberty University. However, the School of Nursing uniquely equips its students to steward this badge well, with dignity and humility, in both the clinical and classroom settings, as well as during each patient and family encounter. Liberty University aims to train up nurses to be sent out as the hands and feet of Jesus, far beyond the border of the United States, touching the nations. When compared to secular schools, Liberty University stands out in the medical, professional, and spiritual aspects. Nurses trained at Liberty are taught to care holistically for each patient, and that does not go unnoticed in the field. Liberty nurses are revered among other schools’ nurses for their level of experience, professionalism, and care — not only for physical needs but also for needs that go much deeper. Nursing care goes beyond just physical ailment, but when the position is stewarded well, it can allow a place for the spiritual aspect of a person to be reached as well. This is holistic care. During my time at Liberty University thus far, I have learned far more than just patient care — I have learned human care. The training, education, and experience provided for the students is both personal and professional, with an atmosphere of humble greatness. We as Liberty nursing students are being equipped to go out as bold advocates, as trained professionals, as humble servants, as brave champions, and as the body of Christ.

JERRY FALWELL LIBRARY

The faculty and staff of the Jerry Falwell Library (JFL) approach their work with a servant’s heart. They are dedicated to serving students and the rest of the Liberty University community through a WIFI Customer Service Philosophy, striving to be Welcoming, Informative, Fast, and Impressive during each interaction — whether in person or online. Unlike many libraries where students receive AI-generated responses to queries, each JFL call, email, and chat is answered by a person who is trained and committed to providing excellent customer service. In addition to having access to a research consultant during operational hours, students can also book a virtual consultation for extended or complex research needs, attend a live research webinar and Q&A session, or access on-demand research resources such as video tutorials, recorded webinars, FAQ, discipline-specific research guides, and interactive modules for building research skills. This approach

to service is just one way the JFL demonstrates a Christian worldview and supports Liberty’s Christian mission. In addition, the JFL hosts Research Week, an annual showcase of student scholarship, as well as disseminating student and faculty research through Scholars Crossing, Liberty’s open-access institutional research repository that includes dissertations, theses, and Liberty-published scholarly journals.

OFFICE of SPIRITUAL DEVELOPMENT
What is spiritual life like at Liberty University?
For our students, this is not just a question but an invitation — an invitation to become the people God has purposed them to be.
At Liberty, spiritual development is at the heart of why we exist. From Convocation to community groups to Serve Lynchburg, every aspect of campus spiritual life is designed to reveal Jesus and form our students into His likeness.
We believe that students grow in their faith when they participate in a spiritual development pathway made up of the central habits of the Christian life. This pathway functions much like a river — a vibrant flow of students all moving in the same direction by participating in these common practices and shared rhythms.
What is this pathway of spiritual development? It begins with community — belonging in shared fellowship with other believers. At Liberty, you do not have to search for a place to belong because before you ever step onto campus, there is a community of student leaders already anticipating your arrival. Resident Shepherds account for the
spiritual life of each hall, overseeing Community Group Leaders who lead community groups ranging from 5-10 students. Centered on prayer, confession, and repentance, these weekly small groups prompt students to ask, "How can the Word of God produce greater love for Jesus and others in my life?" While Liberty might have a lot of students, this kind of structured community is in place to ensure every student is known, supported, and surrounded by Christian friends.
That sense of belonging in community flows into worship . Our student body gathers in corporate worship three times each week because praise is deeply formative. When we declare the goodness of God and hear thousands of voices doing the same, we grow in humility and gratitude.
Every Wednesday and Friday, students attend Convocation, an event that has been a distinctive part of the student experience since our founding. Students gather to worship God, then they hear from men and women from all walks of life who help define what it means to become a Champion for Christ in every sphere of life. On Wednesday evenings, students again gather for Campus

Community, the world’s largest weekly collegeaged worship service. There, they study Scripture and then gather in community groups to discuss its practical application.
God’s Word, the Bible, is the foundation of this pathway. In His Word, God has “given us everything we need for a godly life” (2 Peter 1:3). At Liberty, you will be provided the opportunity to learn how to read the Bible deeply in the context of its own authoritative claim to be sufficient for all of life. Through the habitual reading and memorization of Scripture, our students grow in knowledge of God and learn to hear His voice. But the goal is about more than just reading what it says. It’s about reading the Bible in such a way that it begins to form our students to think biblically after their time at Liberty, standing firm for the Truth in a world that has rejected it.
As our students grow to love God’s Word, prayer becomes the natural outflow — the learned language of those who have been deeply shaped by the Word. Our founder, Jerry Falwell Sr., often said that “nothing of eternal significance happens apart from prayer.” It is not by skill nor might but by learning to pray at all times in the Spirit that we become Champions for Christ. This is why OSD hosts 24-hour prayer gatherings in the Worley
Prayer Chapel — thousands of students come to worship, meditate on the Word, and intercede for others. This culture of prayer extends beyond the chapel, as residence halls host all-night prayer vigils and Community Group Leaders consistently pray for their students by name.
The expected fruit of all those practices is not just self-improvement but love — a love that shines most brightly in service to others. That’s why service is woven into the fabric of the Liberty experience. Every semester, students serve 20 hours with an approved nonprofit organization or church. Thousands of students attend Serve Lynchburg each year to serve alongside dozens of local organizations; Serve Now teams bring Gospel hope and humanitarian relief in disaster zones around the world; and LU Send directs students to study, intern, and serve abroad — all to help students discover how their God-given gifts find their ultimate fulfillment when spent for the good of others.
This is spiritual life at Liberty: an intentional pathway of Christian community, regular worship, reading the Bible, prayer, and service. It is by embracing these ordinary means of discipleship that thousands of Liberty students grow in their faith each year and, over time, become Champions for Christ — the kind of people who will follow Christ to the ends of the earth and bear good fruit wherever they go.
