Sending warm wishes to Members this March, Lisanne Kennedy, Recreation Coordinator

Welcome to March Members,

February flew past! Advanced Balance proved to be a popular addition, and we are working with West Valley College to add another class time slot. Members painted a serene sunset scene with Brooke. Look to join us for our next Paint Party in April. All painting materials are provided thanks to El Camino Health. Great Getaway bus trips had a sweet outing at Dandelion Chocolate Factory just in time for Valentines Day and cheered on the Warriors to a win at the Chase Center. Summer trips are now live and selling fast. Hands on Art crafted textured heart canvases. Guest Speaker Sally Duplantier explored the science behind our love of sugar and offered suggestions on how to curb cravings. Twenty-four Mah Jongg players put their skills to the test in our tournament. Congratulations to first place finisher Kelly Heuschkel! Our gratitude to member Kalane for once again being Queen of the Tiles and lending her expertise to make this event possible! Team trivia is now a monthly program; this month's event ended in a dramatic sudden death tie between team New Friends and team Cupid, ultimately, Linda, Wayne, Eileen and Herman get bragging rights and brought home Olympicthemed trophies. February Food for Thought explored Heart Healthy Foods. We challenge you to increase your intake of veggies, fruits, and whole grains and reduce processed foods, saturated fats, and sodium.

Moving on to March! Be sure to RSVP and save the date for Friday, March 13th from 5:00PM7:00PM for a Spring Fling Social Dance with LIVE MUSIC by Retro Notes a San Francisco Bay Area Jazz and Swing Band! Come dressed in bright colors or floral and enjoy dancing, refreshments, and the band! Open to the public as well, so invite a friend too. Tickets are $5 for members and $15 for non-members. The new

monthly program Boost Your Mood will kick off on March 10th with a special guest speaker on Motivation. Boost Your Mood will continue monthly, and Jackie will guide this interactive group to discuss tools and topics centered on increasing well-being. Volunteer Sean from the Table Tennis Club that plays at the Joan Pisani Community Center is looking to share his love of Ping Pong with 55 Plus members in March. If you are new to Ping Pong and want to learn RSVP for a free “Intro to Ping Pong” meetup so you can join in our ongoing dropin play in future months. Zumba classes with Kiana will be back in April, until then Angela will be teaching a standing low impact class on Thursdays at 1pm to keep members moving. Also, this month we look forward to another Bocce Social in Saratoga, learning about power greens at Food for Thought, celebrating Mardi Gras with Jackie’s Jewels, and crafting rope beehives at Hands on Art. Guest speaker this month is member Lyn, an expert in conquering clutter, followed by representatives from the Los Gatos Thrives Foundation providing an update on their community center campaign.
