Sending warm wishes to Members this April, Lisanne Kennedy, Recreation Coordinator
March brought many fun ways for members to participate! Jackie’s Jewels Beading Workshop made bracelets and necklaces for Mardi Gras and St. Patrick’s Day. Bocce was back in Saratoga. Boost Your Mood kicked off with a guest speaker on Motivation. Retro Notes filled the large hall with their live music while members danced to “Fly Me to the Moon” at our Spring Fling Social Dance. A huge thank you to Michelle from Rotary who donated beautiful flower arrangements that dancers took home as raffle prizes. Member Lyn taught us how to organize and de-clutter our lives and “leave a legacy of love- not stuff”. Los Gatos Thrives Foundation representatives provided an update on their progress towards the goal of a new community center. Hands on Art participants crafted rope beehives to celebrate the start of spring. Food for Thought served up plenty of good-for-you greens to a crowd that came to learn about the benefits of adding more vegetables and leafy foods to their diets. Trivia teams faced off in a friendly competition with the "Green Team” of Mary Clare, Linda, and Judy being victorious.
In April our theme is “Celebration of the Arts”. Our extra special event this month consists of two sessions of drumming circles with music therapists. Each session can seat 30 participants; everyone will get a small percussion instrument to play guided by the instructors. This is an interactive experience that promotes wellness, camaraderie, learning, and fun! We are grateful to El Camino Health for sponsoring this drumming event. Hands on Art will be every Friday in April (instead
of monthly) with two sessions to allow more participants to join in the fun. Paint Party is back and our creative project will be painting cherry blossoms. We are also excited to have a special guest speaker, Lisa Tollenar, local studio Alumiary Arts founder and creative guide, discussing “Your Brain on Art”. Food for Thought will be all about “Eggciting Eggs”, from dying techniques to egg-centered dishes. April is a great time to visit our neighbors at NUMU to see the ArtNow exhibit. You will be truly inspired by the creative pieces from local high school students. Zumba returns mid-April and we have added two FREE bonus Standing Low Impact classes with Angela.
Note to Members: Lisanne will be stepping away this month on maternity leave to welcome her baby boy.
