n Due to the small class size of each graduating class, Lake Forest Academy does not rank its students. n LFA uses letter grades from A - F on an unweighted 4.0 scale. Grades A - D may have pluses and minuses. n Admission to advanced level and AP courses is decided by the appropriate department based on a student’s ability and success in previous coursework. n After exhausting course offerings, upperclassmen may elect to pursue independent studies. Some of our favorites this year include: Biofuels from Plants, Horseshoe Theory, Pablo Picasso: The Blue Period, Bioinformatic Studies, NAND to Tetris, and Cultural Relativisim: The Controversiality of Human Rights. One semester of Independent Study equals a 1/4 credit.

n Psychology is considered a science elective.

LFA’S NATIONAL MERIT RECIPIENTS n In the ’25 class, five seniors earned National Merit Semi-Finalist recognition
