4-H & FFA DOGS April 10th – Bennett Building – 1:00pm DOG AWARDS: 4-H Dog Showman Intermediates Champion Overall Dog 4-H/FFA 4-H Dog Showman Seniors Showman Top Overall Jumpers 4-H/FFA Reserve Champion Overall Dog Top Overall Obedience 4-H/FFA 4-H/FFA Showman 4-H Dog Top Overall Agility 4-H/FFA Showman Juniors Top Overall Rally 4-H/FFA Refer to 4-H & FFA General Rules and Regulations. Dogs MUST be always kept on leash or in carrier, except as directed by the judges. 1. Exhibitors will be judged in groups as divided by classes listed. Exception to the rule could occur if the superintendent feels that not enough FFA members are entered. They will then be combined with the 4-H Senior class. 2. If benching space is available, dogs may be kept on the grounds during the fair. The superintendent will have information concerning spaces and times allowed. If benching is allowed an exhibition tag with completed information must be on display. 3. Dogs must be current on all shots, including DA2PL - distemper, hepatitis, and rabies. Dogs must have been wormed. A record of this needs to be provided to the Superintendent. 4. Dogs must be well groomed. Coat should be glossy and combed. Animal must be free from dirt, dandruff, fleas, lice, and ticks. Ears are to be free of dirt, wax, and odor. Nails should be short, and feet should not have mats between the toes. 5. Handlers must be neatly groomed & appropriately dressed. For proper dress attire refer to WSU 4-H Dog Project Showmanship Guide. 6. In the case of a tie, there will be a runoff. A Top of Class ribbon may be awarded in each class. A special award in each age group may be awarded for the highest score in showmanship and highest score in obedience. A Best Showman Award in each age group may be given for the highest combined scores of Showmanship and Obedience. These awards are given at the judges’ discretion. Point scale for ribbon placing to be posted. A trophy will be offered in each age group within a class, with an Overall Showmanship Award for 4-H. A trophy and rosette will be awarded to the Top Overall in Showmanship and a trophy and rosette to the Top and Rosette to the Reserve in each age division. 7. A member may show one dog for Showmanship, and another do for Obedience. To qualify for the state fair in Obedience, a member must show the same dog in both Showmanship and Obedience and receive a blue or higher ribbon in each class. To qualify for the state in Agility, a member must show the same dog in Showmanship and Agility and receive a blue or higher ribbon in each class. 8. Treats and/or toys may be used in all showmanship classes. If toys are used, they must not distract other handlers or dogs in the ring. Treats and/ or toys are NOT allowed to be used in Obedience, Rally or Agility classes.

4-H & FFA DOGS CONTINUED 9. Everyone is expected to clean up after their dogs. Bags will be provided. 10. Grand Champion/Reserve Champion ribbons and/or awards WILL NOT be awarded for animals that do not receive a blue ribbon. DIVISION 204: DOG FITTING & SHOWING Class 00: 4-H Cloverbud Class 01: 4-H Junior Class 02: 4-H Intermediate Class 03: 4-H Senior Class 04: FFA DOG OBEDIENCE Points allowed: Blue – 100, Red – 75, White – 50 All classes follow the Washington State Dog Program Guidelines, refer to this document for further details. Obedience trials demonstration the dog’s ability to follow specified routines in the obedience ring as well as to show that the dogs have been trained to behave in the home, in public places and in the presence of other dogs in a manner that will always reflect credit on the sport of obedience and under all conditions. All exhibitors in a class are required to perform the same exercises in the same way so that relative quality of the various performances may be compared and scored. EQUIPMENT: Six (6) foot lead and properly fitted choke chain or flat collar. A trophy and rosette will be awarded to the Top Overall Obedience and a rosette to the Reserve Champion.
