January Holiday Trash Service Schedule New Year’s Day, January 1st LeMay offices will be closed, and drivers will not run their normal schedule. Trash service will resume on Friday, January 2nd. All trash service pick-ups will be delayed by one day. Free Christmas Tree Disposal l January 5th - January 9th Put your real tree out on the curb next to the cans on your schedule service pick-up day and LeMay will pick up and dispose of it for FREE. *Must be a natural real tree. Must be no bigger than 4 feet or must be cut down to 4 feet sections. Must remove all tinsel, decorations, tree stands, and plastic bags.*

LMH SNOW & ICE REMOVAL PLAN In the event of storms, where ice or snow accumulations are imminent, Liberty staff will be on standby to respond if in fact the weather does affect the roads on JBLM. While in standby mode, we will monitor local news as well as the Joint Base Hotlines. Staff will additionally respond to reports directly provided from JBLM Military Police. We will have a phased plan that will address the conditions focused on the most critical areas with hills and major intersections. We will have equipment in the form of two sanding/plow trucks and personnel available to maintain continual usage as needed. In order to focus our attention on the most critical areas, LMH will not be plowing and/or sanding any side streets. While it is the resident’s responsibility to perform snow/ice removal at their individual homes, we will do our best to provide for the safe passage of our residents in and out of the JBLM neighborhoods. We will respond to resident concerns as resources allow. We will also support the overall response of the installation by helping in areas we are traveling through when possible.

If consistent snow accumulations continue, we will repeat the same phased approach until the snowfall has diminished. -Stay warm!
Cold Weather Preparedness Winter is here and the weather service will predict low temperatures during this winter season. To help prevent frozen pipes and the potential flooding of your home, we ask that you please take the following steps whenever the temperatures are forecasted to dip to an unusually low level: Open all water faucets in your home to allow a very thin trickle of water to flow through the water lines. Allow the trickle of water to continue to flow throughout the night. (If you are leaving town, please do not leave the water on.) If leaving town for more than 48 hours, please notify your district office so they may periodically check for frozen pipes. Leave all cabinets doors underneath sinks open so the pipes will be ventilated with the warm air in your home. Notify your district office if you turn on a faucet and no water comes out. This may be an indication of frozen pipes. Leave the heat turned to "Auto" and thermostat set to no less than 60 degrees, especially if you will be gone for more than 24 hrs. A WORD FROM OUR WEST ARMY PARTNERS Where to Take Items Not Accepted at Bulk Drop-Off Events By: Katherine Dickerson, DPW Environmental, AGEISS Inc. Residential Bulk Drop-Off events are a great opportunity to clear out excess household items or get ready for a permanent change of station (PCS), but some materials cannot be accepted for safety, environmental, or space-related reasons. JBLM does have dedicated facilities that WILL take these items year-round. Here’s how to properly dispose of the most common materials not accepted at bulk events to help keep JBLM clean, safe, and mission ready. Household Hazardous Waste Items such as unused or partially used chemicals, paint, propane tanks, automotive fluids, solvents, and batteries must be handled separately for safety. The JBLM Hazardous Waste Building accepts these household hazardous wastes for their reuse program: Propane, paint, cleaners, disinfectants, degreasers, antifreeze, batteries, light bulbs, and adhesives. Don’t see your item on the list? Call to see if they accept it. Located: Bldg. 9679 Rainier Drive, near the Logistics Gate Open: Monday-Thursday 1300-1500; 253-967-4786 Please check in at the front desk before unloading. Electronics, Small Appliances (E-Waste), Large Appliances, and Unusable Furniture Electronics, including small appliances, printers, monitors, laptops, and other e-waste are not accepted at bulk drop-off events. Bulk drop-off furniture is limited to 3 items per household. If you have more than the allowed number of large appliances like washers, dryers, stoves, or metal furniture like folding chairs, desks, and filing cabinets, you can take them to the JBLM Recycle Centers. Appliances that use freon are not accepted. For furniture that is in usable condition, consider donating instead of tossing. Both JBLM Recycle Centers (Lewis & McChord) accept e-waste and some large appliances and furniture. McChord typically has more space and can accept larger quantities of e-waste and oversized items than the Lewis Main location.
