Autumn Term, Christmas 2019
This half term... Hockey
The U8’s and U9’s played some fantastic hockey in their matches with Knighton House, Sherborne Prep, Perrott Hill and Port Regis, learning lots about using space and working as a team!
Massive congratulations to the U13 Girls Hockey Team who qualified for the West of England Regional Hockey Championships. They beat many other Schools to become runners-up at the County Championships and represented Dorset at the prestigious Regional Finals at Millfield! This is the first time that a Leweston team has made it through to this competition in 5 years, so a huge well done to the team.
Football
The U14 boys hosted their first Football match against The Gryphon School. A great game, enjoyed by all.
Congratulations to our U11 Football Team, who finished 5th out of the 21 teams attending the Yeovil Town Football Club Tournament. Unbeaten in their group, Leweston also drew with the eventual winners of the competition.
This half term... Rugby
Our U10 and U11 played a very successful first rugby fixture at Port Regis, and it was a huge bonus to meet Lewis Moody, England World Cup Winner, after the game!
Rugby Another great afternoon of rugby for our U10 and U11 boys at the Bournemouth Collegiate Prep School Festival. Leweston won one, drew three and only lost two games with some very close scores.
Our U10/11’s and U12/13’s made history as they hosted Leweston’s first home rugby fixtures and played some great games against Perrott Hill.
The boys in Years 3-8 all enjoyed great rugby matches this half term with Clayesmore, Sherborne Prep, Perrott Hill, Port Regis and Bournemouth Collegiate School.
This half term... Cross Country
Leweston hosted the popular, annual CrossCountry Girls Relays competition and welcomed twenty Schools who competed at the event. Leweston teams enjoyed some amazing results, with Senior Team Gold, Junior & Minor Team Silver, Intermediate Team Bronze, plus three B Team Golds. Leweston also had four individual podium places from Darcy D with Silver, Lucy B Silver, Issy W Silver and Ellie B Bronze. A fantastic effort from all. Visit the School website for full results.
Cross Country
Well done to all who took part in this year’s Leweston Prep Inter-House Cross-Country Championships! Congratulations to St Margarets, who were the overall House winners.
This half term... Pentathlon Congratulations to everyone who competed in Nottingham at the National Biathlon Championships. Well done to Ginny, Nikita and Millie, who all won Team Silver in their respective age groups. Sam also had a great result, finishing in Individual 8th place in the U17 boys competition. The outstanding performance of the day went to Matthew, Year 12, who won Individual Silver in the boys U14 competition! This is very impressive, considering over 100 athletes enter this championship in each age group.
Equestrian Congratulations to the Leweston Equestrian Team who had an amazing day at Moreton EC NSEA Eventers Challenge qualifier for Hickstead, with six Team and three Individual qualifications.

Leweston Equestrian Team Celebrate Winning NSEA South West RPL Title for fourth time! NSEA South West Regional Points League Presentation and Show Jumping training session with Chris Burton at Lower Chapel Marsh Farm. There was a lot to celebrate for the Leweston equestrian squad this term as not only have they won the NSEA South West RPL title for the fourth time but with the 275 points that they accumulated in the 2018/19 season, they also achieved the highest number of points nationally from all the Schools competing in the National School Equestrian Association. Dr Geoffrey and Mrs Kate Guy very kindly invited the team and their parents to their new world class training centre near Beaminster for a tour of the amazing facilities and organised an inspirational show jumping coaching session with Eventer Chris Burton. Chris is ranked number 3 in the World FEI Eventing rankings and has competed at two World Games, and two Olympics, winning a team Bronze at Rio in 2016. He also hopes to be on the Australian team in Tokyo next summer. He is famously known as being the fastest cross-country rider in the world
and was keen to share his knowledge and expertise with eight of our riders during their coaching session. Chris kindly awarded everyone their RPL Winners Rosette at the end of the training session and our team were very quick to form a queue to get his autograph on the back! Dr Guy is eager to establish further training opportunities for Leweston riders at Lower Chapel Marsh Farm (LCMF). We are so lucky having such a world class facility in Dorset, it is going to have far reaching effects. Well done to Maria S, Sacha GD, Matilda J, Sophie S, Issy C, Flora M, Rosie G and Phoebe S for riding and to the whole squad for your contribution to an amazing result for the School. Our grateful thanks to Dr and Mrs Guy, Chris and Bek Burton and the team at LCMF for your generosity and hospitality.
