World Laser-Run Championships Well done to Nikita, Molly, Darcy, Issy and Archie who represented Great Britain in September at the World Laser-Run Championships in Budapest. They each gave heroic performances in some highly competitive races. Congratulations goes to Darcy on winning Team Bronze and to Archie who finished fourth in the Under 15 Category and also won Mixed Relay Bronze!
The term so far... Hockey
We had a good start to the Hockey season, with some great matches against Warminster, Sherborne Girls, St Mary’s Shaftesbury and Clayesmore. A special mention goes to the 1st XI who are unbeaten in all of their games so far, and also to the U12 and U13 teams who each had impressive victories against St Mary’s, Shaftesbury. The U13s also won all of their matches against Sherborne Prep, Wells Cathedral School and Stonar.
Netball
Both the U16 and U19 netball teams had a number of closely contested matches in their respective North Dorset Tournaments, either winning or losing many of their games by a single goal.
Equestrian The girls in Years 3-6 have enjoyed hockey fixtures so far this term against Clayesmore, Sherborne Prep, Hanford and Sunninghill. They look forward to further fixtures against Knighton House, Perrott Hill, Port Regis and Bruton School for Girls. It has been fantastic to see so many girls attending hockey club on Tuesday and Thursday after school!
Both ‘Just for Schools’ Teams took Second place in their classes at the Dorset County Show and Flora was the Individual winner in the 90cm class. Very well done to Rosie, Flora, Matilda and Sacha who came Third in the main ring Inter-Team Relay.
The term so far... Football
The Year 3-9 boys have had a fantastic half term of football fixtures. They have played in several tournaments as well as friendly fixtures against Perrott Hill, Clayesmore, Castle Court, Sunninghill and Yarrells.
Rugby The Year 3-9 boys are looking forward to playing rugby in their Games sessions after half term. They will also be playing rugby fixtures against other schools with the younger age groups playing tag rugby and the older age starting contact rugby. This is very exciting as it will be the first time in around 7 years that Leweston Prep boys will have played contact rugby. We are excited to have rugby fixtures against Sherborne Prep, Clayesmore, Port Regis, BCS and Perrott Hill
The U14 boys went on to enjoy a historical moment when they hosted their first Saturday fixture, which was a football match against Stonar School. This represented a big step forward for boys’ sport at Leweston. Well done to all the boys for all their hard work and determination on the pitch.

Cross Country At the ESAA Cross Country Cup Competition Leweston had an incredible three individual winners out of the four races, with Lucy, Darcy and Archie all finishing in First place. Our Junior Girls team smashed the field and qualified for the Regionals in First place. Congratulations to Lucy, Millie, Molly, May, Nikita and Mina.
The Intermediate Girls Team also qualified, this time in Third place, whilst our Intermediate Boys finished just off the podium in Fourth. This was an amazing achievement for the boys, in their first ever ESAA Cross Country Cup Competition.
The term so far... Cross Country
Everyone’s involvement in the Inter-House Cross-Country Championships this year was very impressive. There was encouraging team spirit shown throughout and lots of determination from by so many. Congratulations goes to our Inter-House competition top three male and female athletes as follows: Bronze: Matthew and Lucie Silver: Sam and Lucy Gold: Archie and Darcy And further congratulations to the overall winning House, Campion!
Congratulations to the Prep School Cross Country A Team (Isabelle, Cecily, Ellie and Evanna) who won the St Mary’s Cross Country Relays on Wednesday 9th October. The A Team finished First out of 13 teams. The B team (Bea, Esme, Esme, Ellie) came Fourth and Issy ran the second fastest lap out of the 52 runners who took part. All of the pupils from Reception to Year 6 have been focusing on Cross Country running in their PE lessons recently. This is in preparation for the Leweston Prep Inter-House Cross Country event, which will take place on 29th November. The pupils have been working really hard to develop their stamina and lots of them have discovered a real Leweston-style passion for running!
Leweston enjoyed hosting Millfield, Sir John Colfox and Hugh Sexey Middle School at our inaugural Boy’s Cross-Country Races. A competitive event, with Colfox taking the honours in the Junior race, whilst Leweston won Team Gold in both the Minor & Open age groups.
Well done...
Congratulations to Lily who qualified for the ESAA Under 15 Multi Events National Athletics Championships, competing in the Pentathlon at the Exeter Athletics Arena. Lily finished in an impressive 13th place.

8 Leweston athletes represent GB at the World Biathle and Triathle Championships Eight athletes from Leweston represented Great Britain at the World Biathle and Triathle Championships during half term in St Petersburg, Florida. A massive well done to Sam, Lucie, Vivien, Ginny, Archie, Darcy, Nikita and Charlie who all represented Great Britain in Florida and achieved some excellent results.

Leweston claims Gold at the European Laser-Run Championships Congratulations to the six athletes from Leweston who travelled to Germany in August to represent Team GB at the European Laser-Run Championships. Well done to Fenella, Nikita, Archie, Lucie, Mrs Guy and Mr Hobbs. A further congratulations to Archie (Under 15) and Lucie (Under 17) who both achieved Gold in the Mixed Relays, becoming European Champions, and Mrs Guy (Masters) who won Silver. Lucie also claimed Fourth place in the Individuals, whilst Mrs Guy came Fifth, with Mr Hobbs in Seventh and winning Team Gold! A huge well done to all who took part, including the 62 athletes from the Leweston Pentathlon Academy!
Fantastic results at the National Modern Triathlon 15 athletes from Leweston took part in the National Modern Triathlon at Solihull in October and achieved some excellent results. U17 Boys: Sam Bronze. Team Gold U17 Girls: Mimi 12th, Vivien 15th. Team Gold U15 Boys: Archie Fourth U15 Girls: Ginny Bronze. Team Gold U13 Girls: Molly Silver, Nikita Bronze, Millie Seventh, Arissa Ninth, Fenella 13th, Evanna 18th, Isabelle 27th. Team Gold and Team Silver U11 Girls: Minnie Seventh, Isla 15th. Leweston’s Park Run Take Over for National Boarding Day!
As part of the Boarding Sschools Aassociation’s National Boarding celebrations, our Boarders took over the 5k Parkrun event at Montecute House. Boarders, day pupils and staff either ran the course or volunteered at the event. It was fantastic to see so many people there.
Equestrian riders’ fantastic success at the NSEA National Schools Championships and new National Champion! Leweston sent 13 qualified teams and 28 Individual entries to the NSEA National Schools Championships competing for team and individual honours in Show Jumping, Dressage and Arena Eventing (Jumping with Style). Congratulations go to Issy who became the new National Preliminary Dressage Champion after winning the Dressage ride-off, a significant win in a very competitive class, riding her sister’s pony Courtenay Autumn. The Dressage Team of Issy, Charlie, Phoebe and Clemmie took a well earned Sixth Team place (out of 37 teams) in the last event. Phoebe and Clemmie both performed to their very best in the dusk whilst Issy again had an inspired ride on Autumn and won her arena with a whopping 80.96%. Most of the classes had over 37 teams entered whilst the 90-95cm had 52 teams! Leweston entered 18 riders and 21 horses and had one of the biggest teams at Addington. Our youngest rider to compete this year at the Championships is in Year 6 and oldest was last year’s Equestrian Captain, Maria who left after her A Levels in July but was able to return to compete in these championships. Our best team result was in the very technical and challenging 1.10m Show Jumping when Sacha, Rosie, Phoebe and Clemmie took Fifth place. The Regional Points League Team Show Jumping Final gave the opportunity for some of our new and more novice riders or horses to compete at a championship and the 8 riders (2x70cm, 2x80cm, 2x90cm, 2x1m) accredited themselves well, with the team taking Seventh place. We have some very exciting young riders coming through the ranks and all will have gained invaluable experience riding at these championships. To have had 18 riders and 21 horses at Addington is a great achievement and takes a lot of individual hard work and dedication in the lead up to such an event. Well done to :Henrietta, Poppy, May, Jessica, Maisy, Molly, Charlie, Flora, Loveday, Mia, Isabel, Rosie, Phoebe, Clemmie, Issy, Sacha, Matilda, Maria.
South West Schools’ Pistol Shooting Competition We hosted a very successful South West Schools’ Pistol Shooting Competition at Leweston School on the 1st October with 150 competitors taking part. This event is the regional qualifying competition for the National Schools Finals at Aylesbury on 22nd January 2020. Last year Leweston School was the top schools shooting team in the country at this event. Leweston were very successful, with 36 shooters taking part from both the Prep and Senior School. This represents the largest number of competitors from any other school. In the Junior Category (Years 6 to 8) the A Team of Molly, Nikita, and Evanna took Team Gold with all three girls making the final. The B Team of Millie, Isla and Amelia took home Bronze. In the Intermediate Category (Years 9 and 10) the A Team took Gold with Darcy, Ginny and Flora. Ginny and Darcy both made it to the final. The B Team of Matthew, Archie, and Zain took Silver. In the Senior Category The A team took Silver with Vivien, Mimi, and Lily. The B team of Lottie, Jenifer, and Sam took Bronze. From this event the Junior A team and Intermediate A team have qualified for the National Finals, and Nikita and Molly qualified for the Individual Competition as the top three finishers. The Intermediate B Team and Senior A Team qualified as First Reserves. A massive congratulations to all involved and good luck to the students who have quliaified for the Finals in January.
