Harvest baskets
Cardstock paper
Scissors
Pencils, erasers, markers, colored pencils, or wax crayons (depending on your preference)
Glue sticks (ideally one for every two children)
Wooden animals, mushrooms, or leaves (see photo) and/or images to trace or tracing paper
Desk mats (or a table)
Classic hole punch or one shaped like a tree leaf or an animal
String
Laminator
Optional: masking tape, small bells, stickers, etc.

To begin this workshop, show the children a bookmark and ask if they know what it is. Provide an explanation if needed. On a dry day (otherwise, allow for drying time), go for a walk to observe your surroundings and gather materials. The items collected should be flat, lightweight, and small in size. You can bring along a bookmark template to help the children identify the kind of items you’re looking for.

Cut rectangles out of cardstock paper. The children can trace the outlines if you provide them with a cardboard template. Depending on their age, let them cut out the shapes with scissors.
Next, move on to decorating with animals, leaves, or mushrooms to replicate, along with their findings, decorative tape, and more.
Laminate the bookmark and invite the children to punch a hole at the top to add a decoration. Here, we chose a small bell and an acorn cap.

Optional: you can make gift wrap by decorating a roll of kraft paper For example, cut out different shapes from a potato or another vegetable and use them as stamps with paint
And there you have it: the children can give a beautiful gift inspired by nature and crafted with their own little hands, while ensuring plenty of enjoyable reading moments!
