When it comes to children, snacks are a must. And when it comes to connecting with nature, it means healthy food made from nutritious ingredients. Here’s an ultra-simple recipe to make with children: just mix the ingredients and enjoy the cookies raw!

These cookies are a nutritional powerhouse: dates provide carbohydrates, and almond powder contributes protein and healthy fats. One or two cookies, paired with fruit or applesauce, make for an excellent snack—rich and balanced. Since dates are very sweet, avoid adding fruit juice, which provides extra sugar without the fiber, unlike a whole fruit.

If you don’t have access to electricity while with the children, you’ll need to prepare the dates in advance. Remove the pits, soak them in hot water for 15 minutes, and then blend them.

With the children: crush the chocolate pieces using the pestle. Be sure to show the children how to proceed with small, controlled movements while pressing firmly.

Before starting the recipe, you can invite the children to smell, touch, and taste the ingredients. Then mix everything together, except for some of the crushed chocolate and coconut, which can be used as decoration at the end. Distribute equal portions of dough to the children so they can shape their own cookies.
