Leadership & Scholarship Deirdre Graddick Heart of Service Scholarship The Deirdre Graddick Heart of Service Scholarship was established in honor of Soror Deirdre Graddick. In 2018 while serving as cochairman of the Cotillion, she experienced some health challenges. After a few medical exams it was determined that Deirdre needed a heart transplant. Throughout the program, she continued to check in on the progress of the Pearls to make sure they stuck with the program and did their service. Deirdre is a servant leader and you could find her at almost every program and service activity for the sorority. She also serves faithfully for Spelman College
Linda P. Calloway Leadership Award The Linda P. Calloway Leadership Scholarship was established to award young leaders for their active community engagement and leadership skills. Linda P. Calloway was a charter member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Sigma Omega Omega Chapter. She was a supporter of education for all children and a leader in the community, the sorority and her church. The family of Linda P. Calloway has also established a Legacy Scholarship open to young women pursuing careers in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.
Man of Honor Essay Contest The Men of Honor Essay Contest was established for young men who serve as escorts for the debutantes. Each Escort was invited to write an essay about the importance of leadership and community service. Men should share how they have been a leader and participated in a service project that has been impactful.

Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated Sigma Omega Omega Chapter Sigma Omega Omega is turning 30 this year and we have 2020 Vision that is full of exciting moments in time! One of the most precious and exciting moments in this time is the culmination of presenting our 2020 T.E.A. Rose Cotillion Debutantes to society. The Senior Debutantes and Junior Debutantes have worked hard in 2019 in preparation for their presentation. We also want to recognize our escorts for this cotillion season because they have been exemplary young men of honor! Sigma Omega Omega is blessed to have an intelligent and service minded group of young ladies and young men that have taken part in this special event and we thank them and their families for participating. Sigma Omega Omega is proud of the accomplishments of our debutantes and we thank the families of these young ladies for entrusting us with their presentation to society. A debutante is an upper-class young woman making her first appearance in a fashionable society, according to Webster’s. Sigma Omega Omega has worked diligently for months with the debutantes and today the young ladies will be fashionable, elegant, graceful, and confident. The workshops included courses on etiquette, entrepreneurship, life-skills, and community service related to AKA programs. Alpha Kappa Alpha’s International Program theme under International President Dr. Glenda Glover is Exemplifying Excellence Through Sustainable Service” 2018-2022. Over the 112-year history of our Sorority we have partnered with our local communities to provide service to all mankind in excellence. We have provided service events that included our debutantes to give them an opportunity to understand that “serving others is the rent we pay for our temporary time here on earth”, Muhammad Ali. We hope that today’s presentation will uplift our community and allow for everyone to see the most beautiful girls in the world! We thank our debutantes for being a part of this wonderful experience. Our Debutantes have worked hard to get to this moment and are very excited about being presented to the world. These young ladies are amazing and are ready to take on the society! Welcome to the 2020 T.E.A. Rose Debutante Cotillion Scholarship Program. We are excited to celebrate with the participants, families, and supporters as we debut our Pearls: Poised & Polished. This has been an amazing year for the T.E.A. Rose Debutante Cotillion Scholarship Program. The program experienced unanticipated growth and the committee was delighted to have so many young ladies interested in growing social and culturally through the program. I am so very proud of the commitment and dedication of each Pearl over the last six months. It has truly blessed me and the committee to meet and get to know these young ladies. I am also very proud of the young men who volunteered to be escorts in the program. We were overwhelmed with the interest for the young. We are proud of their participation and the weekly commitment they have graciously served. As the committee chairman, I must thank the T.E.A. Rose Debutante Cotillion Committee. Each member has dedicated an abundance of time to the program. Not only during the monthly sessions and activities, but throughout the weeks to keep the Pearls encouraged. The committee shows up weekly for rehearsals and meetings and I treasure your time and commitment the program. I thank the leadership of Legacy of Pearls Foundation and Sigma Omega Omega Chapter for allowing the committee to grow the program as a premier program for the west side of Atlanta. It started as a program in 2019 with 4 spectacular young pearls, who have all graduated high school and are successfully matriculating at various post-secondary institutions. This year we hosted over 27 Pearls throughout the program and we will continue to grow the program and offer social, cultural, service and leadership opportunities. I want to share a special thank you to the parents of our Pearls and Men of Honor. It was not only a commitment of the participants, but a commitment of the parents. It truly takes a village to make sure our young leaders have the support needed to be successful and participate in experiences that will allow them to grow into responsible citizens. The committee thanks all the presenters for the monthly workshops and the choreographer who volunteers her time weekly to ensure that the participates have a graceful program and debut. Ania Briscoe
Ania Briscoe was crowned Miss T.E.A. Rose during the 2019 T.E.A. Rose Debutante Cotillion Scholarship Program. She is a 2019 graduate of Pace Academy and is a first year student at Brown University in Rhode Island. Ania is majoring in Theater Arts and History. During her first year performed in two plays and participated in Brown’s 24 hour play festival. Ania hopes to continue writing and performing while also exploring a variety of opportunities that will come her way. Ania serves as a staff writer for the International Writers’ Blog.

Donna Schiele Donna is originally from Cleveland, Ohio, but moved around quite a bit. She has lived in NY, NJ. NC, SC, GA and even Seoul, Korea, but she calls Atlanta home! Donna grew up in Atlanta on the southwest side of town. She is a graduate of Hampton University and The University of Indianapolis. Donna started in radio in 2005 after teaching for over 10 years. She got her start in radio in Indianapolis, Indiana. Her first job in radio was a board -op and then producer of the award winning show “Afternoons with Amos”, hosted by the legendary Amos Brown. She then was on – air talent for WTLC- AM (Gospel) and WTLCFM (R &B) for 13 years. Donna is very versatile in that she has done just about every shift on both stations. She was also the host of “The Gospel Showcase” on IMC- TV.
Donna ended her years in Indy as host of her radio show “Saturday Praise” on 1310 and 92.7 The Light and “Sunday Vibes” on 106.7 WTLC- FM. Donna can now be heard weekends on Atlanta’s Classic R & B Station Classix 102.9.

Daniel Wilkerson Daniel Wilkerson joined CBS46 as a reporter in March of 2014. Prior to joining CBS46, Daniel worked as a reporter for KTHV-TV in Little Rock, Ark. He started his career at WBBJ-TV in Jackson, Tenn. While at the ABC/CBS affiliate, Daniel reported on a variety of government and consumer issues. Daniel earned a Bachelor of Science degree in communications from the University of Memphis. While in school, Daniel worked as an on-air personality for WUMR, the college's FM jazz station. Daniel loves the way the Constitution offers protection for the press and the public and feels it is his obligation as a journalist to help keep the government and other institutions accountable to the people.
