ccoquan's annual Fall Arts & Crafts Show is the perfect creative kickoff to autumn! Join us Sept. 26-27 from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. as this popular tradition hosts 300-plus vendors, three street eat areas, live performances and tons of family activities. Visitors will love the endless rows of artisan tents full of makers and creators from all over the country. Grab an adult drink at one of our award-winning Occoquan restaurants and take it with you as you browse the tents and Occoquan’s 80-plus small boutiques, shops and galleries. Our pro tip? It’s never too early to start checking off that holiday gift list. Shopping local creators is always on trend! This year’s festival will feature a new component called The Art Park, where local artists will demonstrate creative mediums such as glass blowing, watercolors, wreath making, paper arts, floral arts and more. These free artist demonstrations will take place in Mamie Davis Park both days of the festival and are perfect for adults and kids. If you are bringing kids (or are a kid at heart!), head over to Imagination Alley, where you can participate in a

freestyle art bar, crafting activities and face painting, say hello to the alpacas, and meet real life firefighters (and their trucks!) up close. Plus, don’t miss live free family-friendly performances all weekend long. The Fall Arts & Crafts Show has gone through many iterations over its history. It started in September 1971 as a merchant-sponsored show, then evolved into a town-run event in 1981. 55 years later, it is consistently the largest festival in Occoquan, attracting 16,000-18,000 people over the weekend. Recent additions of family-focused art activities, artist demonstrations and sip-and-stroll options have made it a regional mustattend event. The festival uses all of downtown Occoquan, closing the majority of its streets to accommodate vendors and attendees. This event is free to attend and continues rain or shine. Workhouse Haunt: Dark Encounters

Oktoberfest in Vienna will feature live entertainment on three stages, multicultural food, free activities for kids, vendors, an artisan marketplace, business expo showcase and a local beer and wine garden. Proceeds support the VBA Foundation Foundation, which supports charitable organizations in the Greater Vienna area.

The Workhouse Arts Center in Lorton’s annual haunted experience centers on a group of friends who set out on a road trip through rural Virginia, driven by an obsession with local legends and folklore. Determined to separate fact from fiction, they documented their journey through journals, cassette recordings and camcorder footage as they explored sites tied to mysterious creatures, chilling histories and long-whispered tales. But before they could complete their trip, they vanished without a trace.

Reston Multicultural Festival The Reston Multicultural Festival is a family-friendly celebration of global diversity. The Waterford Fair The fair offers a rare opportunity to explore the village’s finest arts and crafts and tour its historic homes – an annual event in this designated National Historic Landmark District. Explore featured artisans and sales, traditional music performances, village-wide homes tour, historical children’s activities, local author book signings, juried handcrafts and historical interpretations. here is a quiet magic to autumn in western Loudoun County, where crisp air and vibrant foliage frame one of Northern Virginia’s most cherished traditions. From Oct. 2-4, the National Historic Landmark village of Waterford springs to life for the 82nd Annual Waterford Fair. As Virginia’s oldest juried crafts fair, this landmark festival transforms an entire 18th-century town into a living museum of American art, heritage and community. Organized by the nonprofit Waterford Foundation since 1943, the fair offers an authentic glimpse into the past. Master artisans gather in historic stone structures, vintage barns and the landmark Old Mill to demonstrate time-honored techniques, while a vibrant musical lineup powered by River & Roots Production fills the main stage all weekend long. This year brings remarkable highlights, including a 75-year milestone celebrating Dr. Glenn McIntyre’s preservation of early Virginia gunsmithing. The fair also features a touching

historical homecoming: California content creator Margarete Miller discovered an 1860 friendship album belonging to Waterford resident Maranda Stewart Hough in a thrift store for $1.99, and is returning the rare artifact to Waterford alongside a global community project. Miller will also present a special Tent Talk during the fair. Beyond the art, guests can tour restored historic homes and gardens, enjoy interactive craft activities and savor local food trucks and Loudoun County craft beer and wine. To maximize flexibility, every general admission ticket this year automatically serves as a three-day pass ($20 in advance, $25 at the gate). Discounted $20 passes are also available both in advance and at the gate for seniors, military personnel and students ages 13-21. Admission is free for children 12 and under, and free parking is included. outh For Tomorrow’s 41st Annual Country Fair & Auctions will take place on Saturday, Oct. 3. This year’s Fair is shaping up to be the biggest and most exciting yet. YFT’s Country Fair is honored to have been voted as “The Best of Prince William” for the past three consecutive years. The Country Fair offers fun for children of all ages with over 75 attractions, including a petting zoo, pony rides and more. Kids can get “hands-on” in The Home Depot Kid’s Builder’s Workshop and explore many fun projects and entertainment in The LLE Education Group Children’s Activity Tent. Visitors will be amazed by the acrobatic tricks and high-jumping competitions from Dock Dogs. The Paul Bunyan Lumberjack Show returns this year. See log-rolling competitions, axe-chopping and chainsaw art. Pretty Birds of Paradise will offer an interactive and educational experience in their “birdhouse.” This year, the Fair has expanded with a new and exciting themed area: The Trades and Home Expo. This area is geared toward both children and adults, promoting educational and employment opportunities in the construction and automotive trades, sparking interest for rewarding careers. Children and adults will ride and enjoy the shows and activities free with their $15 admission ticket. Don’t miss our “early-bird” special discount tickets.
