Be A Culpeper Local is the shining voice for shopping locally and supporting Culpeper businesses. Started in 2010, Be A Culpeper Local highlights Culpeper businesses through marketing and events while educating the community on the impact shopping locally has on our economy. Shopping locally not only allows customers to purchase unique products, but provides thousands of jobs for residents and builds a stronger economy through the recirculation of money within the county, and the tax-base provided to the county through state sales tax.
In 2022, Culpeper County received $10,987,028 in local sales and use taxes. Taxes received by the county help provide the incredible resources, programs, and amenities residents enjoy. Culpeper County continues to receive recognition from surrounding counties for a number of recent projects such as the Culpeper Technical Education Center, Culpeper Field House, and lighting project at the Culpeper Sports Complex. Our volunteer-based Fire and Rescue services and our Public School System remain strong thanks to the revenues the county receives. What is Choose Culpeper Farms?
Kicking off 2023, the Culpeper County Department of Economic Development launched a new agricultural brand, Choose Culpeper Farms. Business Development Coordinator, Winona Pritts shares, “Choose Culpeper Farms seeks to highlight Culpeper Farms and agricultural operations, products, and events and provide education on making agriculture and fresh, local products part of Culpeper family’s everyday lives.”
The recently launched website provides consumers with information on purchasing farm-to-table products from farmers throughout the county. Visitors can now get up close and personal by learning about Culpeper farms open-to-the-public and information on events hosted by farms. Residents can also find information on several Culpeper community organizations, many of which provide learning experiences for youth, technical advice for farmers, hands-on instruction, experimental learning opportunities and more.
