LMA 360° is a 4-module online development course focused on increasing the range of skills that contribute to your growth as a leader.
It will be delivered through four modules; You (Understanding Your Mental Health and Wellbeing), Your Team (Leading with Purpose), The Game (Coaching Behaviour) and The Industry (Understanding the Realities of the Professional Football Industry).
The first three modules You (Understanding Your Mental Health and Wellbeing), Your Team (Leading with Purpose), The Game (Coaching Behaviour) will be delivered via a package of learning which includes pre recorded video, workbook, podcast recommendations and relevant articles. The final module The Industry (Understanding the Realities of the Professional Football Industry) will be delivered through a package of learning and an online live Zoom session.

The LMA 360° course modules are guided by the LMA’s Personal Development Model.
The model provides a simple, holistic overview to the four pillars of personal development that are relevant to coaches and managers in professional football.
The model is underpinned by a blend of academic research and real-life LMA member experiences, and is aligned with the game’s collective Coach Excellence Framework.
YOU focuses on your personal and professional development, encompassing self-awareness and wellbeing. It emphasises the importance of building a strong foundation to sustain high performance and achieve your ambitions.
YOUR TEAM concentrates on your role and responsibilities as a leader, emphasising the importance of building, managing and inspiring a team for success. By understanding the dynamics of effective leadership and team dynamics, you can guide your team to consistently perform at their best and achieve its goals.
THE INDUSTRY explores the wider football landscape and its impact on your role as a football manager. By understanding these external factors, you can make informed decisions, adapt to changes and manage effectively in the dynamic environment of football.
THE GAME focuses on your technical knowledge of football and sporting performance and the framework that shapes this. This pillar equips you with the tools to enhance performance and drive success on the pitch.

The course is made up of four modules.

Monday 20th April – Package of learning
Module Three - Coach Behaviour
Monday 4th May – Package of learning
Module Four - Understanding the Realities of the Professional Football Industry
Monday 18th May – Package of learning
Friday 22nd May – Live Zoom session – 3pm-4.30pm
Individuals who work, or aspire to work, in professional football with male and female first teams.
Starting Monday 6th April 2026.
Each module is delivered through a package of learning, with a live Zoom session at the end of the course.
All self-directed content can be consumed in the individual’s own time.
The closing live session will take place online.
Accredited by the English FA for 6 hours CPD.
Accredited by the LMA Institute of Leadership and High Performance.
Participants with 100% engagement will receive an LMA Institute Certificate of Attendance.
Funded by the LMA.

Module one will give an overview into the different types of mental health experts, provide clarity on what mental health is and clear up myths and misconceptions of mental health.
The module will showcase models of mental health which explain the experiences of struggling/crisis mental health right through to thriving in day to day life. Knowing about your range of mental health experiences is important to help you to navigate change and challenge successfully.

LEARNING OUTCOMES:
Develop a knowledge of mental health, mental illness and wellbeing
Advance knowledge of moving from struggling crisis states to flourishing
Gain confidence in understanding the different types of mental health practitioners
Develop knowledge of wellbeing as one complete state

Leadership is a team game. It is a group-based, socially dynamic endeavour, focused on team and organisational ambition, direction, togetherness and collective achievement. Leadership unites individuals operationally and psychologically, by building a powerful shared purpose and collective identity. This module will allow you to understand that a strong sense of meaning, the ‘why’ and the ‘us’, creates belonging, trust, cohesion and resilience. Furthermore you will develop a recognition that effective leadership fosters additional effort from individuals whilst enhancing individual and collective wellbeing.
Monday 20th April Package of learning
LEARNING OUTCOMES:
Develop an understanding of what makes a group effective in achieving high performance
Recognise the methods that can be used to develop a groups sense of belonging and togetherness
Understand how to effectively develop and manage a group’s vision and identity

Coaches have a significant influence on skill acquisition, development and achievement of players at all ages. This module explores the role of coach behaviours, especially instruction and feedback, and coach knowledge on player outcomes.
This module will allow you to develop an understanding of the different coaching behaviours you currently use and the way in which you could develop your coaching communication and interaction for effective player and team development.
Monday 4th May Package of learning
LEARNING OUTCOMES:
Describe and apply practical behavioural knowledge of coach interaction and management during sessions
Understand the different tools available to positively impact the development and achievement of players at all ages
Evaluate your own coaching practice using coach behaviour theories and concepts

This module provides football managers and coaches with a practical and reflective understanding of the professional football landscape. It examines how regulatory, economic, and organisational factors shape daily operations and decisions in the professional game, while encouraging participants to reflect on their own leadership roles and career aspirations.
Participants will gain realistic insight into the pressures, expectations, and opportunities that define the modern professional football environment.
Monday 18th May Package of learning
Friday 22nd May Live Zoom session – 3pm-4.30pm
LEARNING OUTCOMES:
Understand the regulatory, economic and organisational realities and challenges of professional football
Recognise the complexities of managing upward, sideward and downward in professional football
Evaluate your own career journey and your aspirations for the future




Based at the National Football Centre, St George’s Park, the League Managers Association (LMA) and League Coaches Association (LCA) trace their history back to 1919.
The LMA has been operating in its current structure since 1992, whilst the LCA was formed in 2023 to enhance the holistic support available to coaches, analysts, scouts and technical directors throughout the game.
