Welcome from the Director of Sport
The Summer Term has finally arrived, bringing some long-awaited sunshine and, with it, one of the busiest and most energising stretches in our senior sporting calendar.
As pitches firm up and facilities return to full use, there is a real sense of anticipation around the school. The soundtrack of summer is back: cleanly struck cricket balls, the rhythm of spikes on track and tennis courts buzzing with activity.

Pre-season cricket has set the tone brilliantly. The level of engagement, focus and commitment has been excellent, and it is already clear that many players have put in the hard yards. That early investment tends to show when the pressure is on in the middle, and we look forward to seeing that translate into strong performances as fixtures begin to roll in.
Alongside cricket, we have a full programme of tennis, athletics and golf. A particular highlight this weekend will be our Senior Girls Tennis players opening the new Springfield tennis courts. It is a fantastic facility and a real step forward for the school. The surface is superb, ideal for high-quality tennis and will no doubt see its fair share of tight matches, long rallies and the occasional “in or out” debate that seems to follow every good contest.
There is also exciting progress within our golf programme. The golf simulator is nearing completion following a full refurbishment and will soon include new software and advanced 3D camera technology. In short, it is a serious upgrade. The impact on coaching will be significant, giving students detailed feedback and helping them develop their game with real precision. We are also close to launching a new membership scheme for the course, which will open further opportunities to enjoy the game of golf across our Seaford community.
As ever, the fixture list is full and offers plenty of opportunity for students to represent the school with pride. All roads lead towards Seaford Sports Day, which remains a highlight of the year; equal parts competition, camaraderie and house pride, with just enough rivalry to keep things interesting. Not forgetting that “Ad Alta” spirit throughout.
A huge thank you must go to our Grounds and Estates team. Given the rather relentless spring weather, getting everything ready to this standard has been no small feat. Their work behind the scenes is absolutely vital to everything we do, and the quality of our facilities at the start of term is a testament to their effort and expertise.
Over the holiday period, it has been fantastic to hear of so many individual and team successes, including International honours achieved by both current students and Old Seafordian alumni. We are incredibly proud of these achievements. They speak to the talent and dedication of those involved, and it is pleasing to know that sport at Seaford has played a meaningful role in supporting their journeys, alongside many other influences, of course.
As we move further into the term, we are very conscious of the academic demands facing our senior students. With exam season approaching, maintaining involvement in sport and exercise becomes even more important. Far from being a distraction, physical activity plays a key role in supporting focus, wellbeing and overall performance. A well-timed training session or fixture can often do more for productivity than another hour at a desk.
There will, quite simply, be a lot going on. Fixtures will come thick and fast and students will be balancing performance, recovery and academic commitments, while also, we hope, remembering to bring the correct kit on the correct day!
It promises to be a fantastic term. Thank you, as always, for your continued support. We look forward to seeing many of you on the sidelines in the weeks ahead.
Let the summer season begin.

Additional Medical Support
To continue to ensure that we are providing proactive, gold-standard care to our students, the school is in partnership with Return2Play, the UK’s leading sports medicine partners for schools. Feedback from other schools and parents utilising their expertise is strong, while our own experience has been overwhelmingly positive thus far.
If you have any queries regarding your account, then please get in touch with Return2Play directly via hello@return2play.org.uk and they will be happy to help. The helpdesk runs 7 days a week.

Wet Weather and Cancellations
As a team, we will always do everything within our control to ensure fixtures and recreational activities go ahead as scheduled. Any changes to the schedule will be communicated via the respective sports coaches and clarion call.
Dogs on the School Site
We are a dog-friendly site; however, can I remind all parents that dogs should always be on a lead while onsite, and should not be on the field of play. If challenged by a member of staff, please be polite, respect the campus rules and remember that the safety of our students is paramount.
Parents and Supporters – Code of Conduct
For our core values (RESPECT, TEAMWORK, COURAGE, TRUST) to be upheld and our sports programme to be truly successful, it takes the cooperation of all involved – players, coaches, officials, staff, spectators and parents. The College and the staff have spent some time and effort reinforcing these sporting values within Seaford, and we believe it is essential that we include parents and friends of the College in this process.
One of the key questions we ask all supporters to consider is:
‘How does our touchline behaviour shape character and enhance the enjoyment for all the players during the game?’
Please let the coaches coach so that you can enjoy the parental match day experience. As a team and a college, we value performance and desired learning behaviours over the scoreboard – win, lose or draw, it is about the experience and the students making memories with their friends. Thank you for your support with this! Successful College sport is built upon strong partnerships between the students, parents and the College.
We look forward to seeing you all on the sidelines, both home and away, and thank you for your continued support of the Seaford Sport programme.
