The ta'anis is over, the wash machines are going and Manchester is in semi-lockdown again whilst Lewis's are preparing for Shmulli's second bar-mitzva. HAPPY BIRTHDAY What happens when you turn 19 and your sister is a master baker? The answer is you get a grand birthday cake! Yehudis Brocho decided that Ben Tzion didn’t deserve a whole cake- so she made him a slice instead, just that it was actually as large as a whole cake. Any orders to be directly to Yehudis Brocho. I just take commission!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!! And just as an aside, she made this one for Shifra who was having a goodbye party for someone in their class who was going to another senior school.

S e v e n M i s s i n g M o n t h s An Incredible Story!
Told by Reb Shulem Landau, son of Reb Efroyim ZT"L to Uncle Avremy this week! Reb Efroyim Landau was a much beloved Dayan in Kedassia and lived in Stamford Hill. He was Uncle Avraimy's Mashgiach in Schlesinger's Yeshiva as well as his chavruso later on. Shloimy Lewis and Uncle Avraimy davened in the same same shul as him too. Reb Efroyim was born just before the Second World War. As a young child, his mother Gittel gave him to a goyshe family to look after him with the hope that she would be able to take him back after the war. Seven months later, at the end of the war, she was able to go back and get him. Reb Efroyim had been with this family from succos time till Shevous. Alll his adult life, Reb Efroyim was bothered by the fact that he had lived like a goy and ate treif for those seven months during the war. A few years ago, Reb Efroyim became ill and was diagnosed with cancer of the blood. He was unfortunately niftar about a year and half ago and was buried in Enfield, London. Reb Efroyim had a granddaughter called Gittel, named after her Great Grandmother (Reb Efroyim's mother). This granddaughter married into a Family Horowitz. Last Succos a boy was born to this young couple. They named him after Reb Efroyim. Their joy was short lived, however, as the child became ill seven months later. Upon taking him to the hospital, they discovered that he had cancer of the blood and was niftar two days later, around Shevous time.
The family phoned Enfield Beis Hakvoros to request that the child be buried next to Reb Efroyim, whom the baby was named after. The secretary in the Beis Hakvoros explained that it wouldn't be possible as children are buried in a separate section as they need a smaller plot. Someone in the office overheard the conversation and decided to check on the computer. He noticed that it would actually be possible in this case as there was some space at the bottom of the kever. The child was laid to rest there. it was then that someone noticed all the links. This child, named Efroyim ben Gittel (just like Reb Efroyim) was born around Succos, the time Reb Efroyim went to the Goyshe family. He was then niftar seven months later, from the same illness as Reb Efroyim, the time being the same amount of time Reb Efroyim was in the goyshe house and unusually, they were buried next to each other. Wow! What an unbelievable story! Uncle Avraimy went today (Thursday) on his shechita travels to daven at the Kever of Reb Efroyim and took the picture below.

GRANDCHILDREN Who remembers when we started to hear about covid? Do you remember that we heard that in far off China there was a funny illness that was making people very ill, that was very catchy, and that tons of people were catching it and dying? Then we heard it was starting to spread, go to other countries, and that Eretz Yisroel was being so weird, so strict, and that just because Yitzi and Malky had stopped off in Rome IN THE AIRPORT , they made them do BIDUD for 2 weeks!!!! -that was a new word we were going to learn about very quickly. Isolation, shielding, masks etc. were more words that quickly made its way into the everyday lexicon. Then came the next stage. We started to realise that , first of all, the Nussbaums and Ehrentreus who were meant to be joining us from Eretz Yisroel for Shmuli Lewis’ Bar Mitzva, and then stay for Pesach, were notgoing to be able to come. Oy Vay_ Shmuli’s Bar Mitzva………..that was the next very very BIG disappointment. First, it was just going to be a bit smaller. After that, we heard there was going to be lockdown. Then, there was a tzad the lewis’ would still quickly make their way down to London so they could be here for Pesach. Zeyde then correctly pointed out that it was unsafe, that the government were not doing it for rishus, but because they wanted people to be healthy and well. So, next stage. Total lockdown. No school, no davening in a minyan, no anything. It was very hard for everyone, but especially for Oma Just, who had to stay at home for safety. Oma Just was all by herself with no-one for company except for visits at the front door when we came to say hello and to check that Oma was ok.. That was nothing. Pesach, Seder, all by herself. And because it was covid, Oma had no cleaning help, and the Nussbaum clan could also not come and help Oma. The only thing we could do was shop, and leave it in the front hall, where oma left it for a day before putting it away. Well, after many months of lockdown, things began to gradually unlock. The nussbaums began to visit Oma inside the house, but at
opposite end of the loooooooong dining room table. After that, we heard fantastic news. B.H. Tzirel lewis was engaged. Zeyde and Oma decided it was time fro the next step, so roll on Sunday Ta da de dum—we had the immense pleasure of all the lewis’ coming in. It was so very exciting to see some grandchildren after so many months of isolation, and the aunties were so excited to be able to “aunty” their nephews. After, this lovely sweet(but short) visit, we had a tentative phone call from the Smus’. Would we entertain the thought of having them for a shabbos. Would we entertain???????we were delighted. So Shabbos a week later, we had the joy of 3 little yummy boys come in and bring joy to our house( along with toys on the floor, and nappies to changea mechaya!). What was even nicer was the fact that Aunty Goldi got engaged. So sadly, though for such a wonderful reason, they had to leave a bit earlier on Sunday. But, as you can see from the pictures, a wonderful time was had by all. And now, IYH, we have the “Bar Mitzva” to look forward to……

The unexpected marriage
A SERIAL BY SHMULLY WEISFISH message: the Tzadik’s name was r Lieb sorus. Recap: r Mordche worked very hard so that Miriam would get better when r Lieb sorus came he asked r Mordche to stand aside as he told Miriam to marry a certain ugly person.
WE NOW WILL START THE NEW STORY. IN A VERY FAR TOWN, THERE WAS A MAN NAMED CHAIM ZANVIL. CHAIM ZANVIL WAS SUCH A NICE PERSON EVERY TIME HE WALKED IN THE STREET EVERY ONE GREETED HIM WITH A BEAUTIFUL SMILE, HE HAD A WONDERFUL FAMILY HE WAS CONSIDERED OF THE LUCKIEST PEOPLE IN TOWN ALTHOUGH HE WAS VERY POOR. ONE NIGHT HE WAS AWOKEN TO THE SOUND OF PEOPLE SHOUTING “FIRE, FIRE” CHAIM ZANVIL TRIED TO SAVE HIS FAMILY BUT IT WAS TO LATE. THE NEXT DAY THE SURVIVORS WENT TO CLEAN UP THE RUBBLE AND FIND ALL THE TRAPPED PEOPLE. WHEN THEY CAME TO CHAIM ZANVIL HOUSE/PILE OF RUBBLE AND THEY FOUND ALL HIS FAMILY MEMBERS (WHO SADLY WERE NIFTAR) THEN THEY HEARD SOMEONE CALLING “HELP, HELP ME, SAVE ME, I AM ALIVE. HELP, HELP.” IT WAS CHAIM ZANVIL THEY CARRIED ON DIGGING AND WHEN THEY SAW CHAIM ZANVIL THEY WERE SHOCKED AND SAD AND GRIEF-STRICKEN THEY SAW CHAIM ZANVIL HE LOOKED LIKE HIS SKIN WAS BURNED DOWN SO THEY TOOK HIM STRAIT TO THE HOSPITAL WHERE HE WAS TREATED BUT HE STILLED SADLY LOOKED MONSTER WHOEVER HE SAW RAN AWAY FROM HIM. HE LEFT THE TOWN NOT KNOWING WHERE TO GO. HE JUST TRAVELLED FROM TOWN TO TOWN THEN HE SAW A COMMOTION, THE TZADIK R
LIEB SORUS HAD COME TO TOWN HE DECIDE TO GO VISIT THE TZADDIK WHEN PEOPLE SAW HIM THEY RAN AWAY SO HE GOT TO SEE THE TZADIK STRAIT AWAY R LIEB SORUS INVITED HIM IN TO HIS HOUSE “WHAT SHOULD I DO, WHERE SHOULD I GO” CRIED CHAIM ZANVIL “PLEASE CALM DOWN PLEASE” ANSWERED R LIEB SORUS, “GO TO THE TOWN OF STREFKETCH AND MARRY MIRIAM STREFKETCHER.” IMMEDIATELY CHAIM ZANVIL WENT5 TO THE TOWN OF STREFKETCH WONDERING WHO MIRIAM STREFKETCHER WAS. WAS SHE A BIGGER NEBACH THAN HIM WAS IT SOMEONE WHO WAS NOT VEY NICE BUT HIS THOUGHTS WERE STOPPED WHEN HE CAME TO STREFKETCH AND WENT TO THE PRANAS HA’EIR. IN THOSE DAYS WHEN SOMEONE CAME TO A TOWN FOR SHABBOS, THEY WOULD GO TO THE PRANAS HA’EIR AND HE WOULD PUT THEM UP WITH SOMEONE FOR SHABBOS. OBVIOUSLY, THIS WAS NOT NECESSARY IN STRFKETCH AS EVERY ONE JUST WENT TO MIRIAM’S HACHNASAS ORCHIM WHERE SHE AND HER HELPERS WOULD TAKE CARE OF THEM BUT CHAIM ZANVIL DID NOT KNOW THIS SO HE WENT TO THE SHUL WHEN HE CAME TO THE DOOR R’ MORDCHE’S WIFE CAME TO THE DOOR SHE OPENED THE DOOR A DROP AND SAW CHAIM ZANVIL SHE INSTANTLY CLOSED THE DOOR AND RAN TO R MORDCHE (HER HUSBAND) AND SAID “THERE IS A MONSTER BY THE DOOR.” “CALM DOWN LET ME SEE HIM” COUNTERED R’ MORDCHE AS HE WENT TO THE DOOR.

Summer Holiday Ideas To Keep You Entertained!! We are iyh planning to choose a topic or theme every day (or most days!) of the summer holidays and do activities connected to that theme. It makes it easier to plan and think of things to do and makes it more exciting! We would like to share our ideas with you! Choose a topic and try to include 5 main ideas each day:
1. To learn something new 2. To do a craft on that topic 3. To play a game on the topic 4. If possible, to connect the day’s outing, or outdoor activity to the topic 5. Read a story connected to the topic, if you have one.
You may have other ideas that you would like to include. For example, one topic we have thought about is insects. So:
Here are some other ideas for topics we have thought of: Fingers, Puzzles, Colours, Nature, Animals, Flowers, Baking. A good idea would be to look through the crafts, games, books etc. that you have and try and connect them to a topic. That way, you can use what you have at home without having to buy extra things (although you may want to). We hope this will be a springboard to help you have an enjoyable summer holidays!!
