LOVE GOD LOVE PEOPLE

“Moreover, it is required of stewards that they be found faithful.”
1 Corinthians
4:2
As I reflect on the past ministry year, I am reminded of this quote from Christian writer Randy Alcorn: “Stewardship isn’t a subcategory of the Christian life. Stewardship IS the Christian life. After all, what is stewardship except that God has entrusted to us life, time, talents, money, possessions, family, and His grace? In each case, He evaluates how we regard what He has entrusted to us and what we do with it.”
I love the insight that stewardship IS the Christian life. We have been studying the book of Genesis since January of 2023. One thing we learned in studying Genesis chapter 1 is that God created human beings and made them stewards over His creation. From the beginning God created us for good stewardship of what He gives us. Understanding this truth means several things:
First, good stewardship has been our focus this past year. The data continues to show that our culture is growing more secular. The result has been declining church attendance across regions and denominations. And yet, over the last year LC3 enjoyed a year of our highest attendance, largest giving, most baptisms, and biggest number of volunteers. As we have grown, we have improved the ways we plan for and organize events and activities. We have added ministries and events to build community and disciple people. Thank you for continuing to engage in the life and ministries of the church!
Second, good stewardship is our goal for the future. Over the past year, the elders and the Leadership Team have spent much time in prayer seeking the Lord’s will for LC3. We believe God has given us the size and resources we currently have. Therefore, we have a responsibility to use those blessings to further the kingdom. God has begun articulating a big vision in our hearts around how we can expand the impact we currently have on our people and on our community. This includes a vision to: build a counseling ministry; expand adult education and discipleship; train leaders for ministry; and further local missions and outreach. To fully accomplish this God-sized vision, we are considering the need for expanded facilities and increased staff. We will share more on this vision as the Lord continues to guide us down this path. Your prayers are deeply appreciated.
Finally, a personal note: thank you, Church Family, for allowing me to serve as your Lead Pastor. Debbie and I have been blessed by this season of life with the church; and we continue to be greatly encouraged by your prayers, thoughtfulness, and words. We are so grateful to be part of what God is doing in and through the people of LC3. We love you.
May the Lord receive all the glory as we steward the gifts He has given,

Pay careful attention to yourselves and to all the flock, in which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to care for the church of God... Acts 20:28
Our Elder Board is tasked by God to care for the Body of Christ at Lake City Community Church by leading, feeding, knowing, and protecting. As elders, we pray, discuss, and make the spiritual and business decisions of the church, not getting involved in every detail but taking an interest in and responsibility for all the activities of our church.
We protect our Statement of Faith (doctrine) by ensuring all teaching stays firm in the inerrant truth of God’s Holy Word. The elders provide and protect our church family’s spiritual well-being (Acts 20:28). To better know the spiritual state of our church, elders are involved in at least one ministry to see first-hand how we are doing in discipleship, mentorship, and community. We also meet with leaders to review and discuss what is happening in their ministries. We are committed to diligently praying for all of those who call LC3 home.
Our church grew in every way this year - again! In the forefront of our discussions are the challenges this sustained growth brings. We are working through various solutions, all with prayer and supplication to our Lord. God is CLEARLY moving in and through LC3 and and shows no signs of stopping. While staff continues to do the Lord’s work in increasingly effective and efficient ways, we will need solutions to this wonderful problem. Please join us in prayer for God’s wisdom and guidance.
LC3’s passion and love for God are on display in all we do, and this comes across to new people attending our church. As an elder I have the honor of welcoming many of our new members into LC3 and I am so pleased to hear how they experience our church. They feel a sense of warmth and love as they enter the campus. They comment that the absolute biblical truth, unabashedly spoken, is being taught every weekend from the pulpit. They speak of the depth and breadth of discipleship opportunities, the sincere fellowship, and the authentic community. These comments make me think we are on the right path, God’s path, as we attempt to faithfully and obediently serve Him.
I am thrilled with the new ministries that launched this year (Alpha, M2Connect, and the Ignite Hope mental health support group, to name a few). It is no small feat that our events have nearly doubled in attendance yet are carried out with an operational smoothness that appears to be nearly flawless. This report is full of stories of God moving in our church - be sure to take the time to read it.
Looking back, there are so many wonderful examples it would be hard to choose a single event that characterized last year. That said, our 100th Anniversary Celebration was a weekend of celebrating God’s goodness! It was a collaboration of over 200 volunteers with over 1,000 in attendance. To God be the glory! Praise Him for His church He started here 100 years ago! Praise Him for the lives He has changed here! Praise Him for the blessings He has poured out upon His people! Amen!
As your Elder Board, we thank the Lord for the privilege of serving you. We ask for and need your prayers for His wisdom, protection, and discernment of His will for this church. His good, acceptable, and perfect will. Please commit to praying for your pastors, elders, and ministry leaders as we continually seek and carry out God’s plan for LC3.
Grace and peace to you,
Randy Madson Chairman, LC3 Elder Board

“ ...if anyone is above reproach, the husband of one wife, and his children are believers and not open to the charge of debauchery or insubordination. For an overseer, as God’s steward, must be above reproach. He must not be arrogant or quick-tempered or a drunkard or violent or greedy for gain, but hospitable, a lover of good, self-controlled, upright, holy, and disciplined. He must hold firm to the trustworthy word as taught, so that he may be able to give instruction in sound doctrine and also to rebuke those who contradict it.”
Titus 1:6-9
Ministry to the Military
We continue to offer a Deployed Families Ministry Support Team led by Debbie Le, Christa Lippert, and Laura Williams. This team provides targeted love, care, and support to our deployed families as they endure the stressors of being separated from their deployed service member.
We also had two Military Community Groups with about twenty couples meeting on Wednesday evenings during AWANA. They are grateful for the church’s support, especially the provision of childcare to help support and encourage fellowship.
Military Reboot
Our leadership team is a committed team of veterans and spouses. Through this program, military veterans and their spouses have been able to process their traumas and find hope, healing, and a supportive community with others who share similar stories.
Colson Fellows
25% of our congregation are military families
6th Military Reboot course
This year we graduated our second church affiliate Colson Fellows Program. Throughout the year, the cohort developed a solid Christian worldview. Key topics were Creation, the Fall, Redemption, and Restoration. Our cohort dug deep into the Word and are now better able to engage the culture around them with the grace and truth of Jesus.
Alpha is a series of conversations about things we all question in life: Why do bad things happen to good people? What’s the purpose of life? What’s next? Alpha is a judgment-free space to ask hard questions and share opinions. It’s a conversation where people can freely explore the basics of the Christian faith in an open, friendly environment.
This fall we conducted a trial run of the Alpha Course and a full course this spring with around thirty participants, many of them not yet followers of Jesus. Various church leaders provided Gospel-centered talks followed by table conversations. A wonderful team of volunteers helped prepare meals, serve in hospitality, host tables, pray, and set up and break down the spaces. Several people came to a decision for Christ through this ministry.

Every Man A Warrior (EMAW)
15 men have gone through all four books of EMAW, memorizing around 30 Bible verses and having nearly 100 quiet times. Men continue to step up to serve as Pod Leaders.
M2Connect Men’s Mentoring Initiative
60 EMAW participants
In June, we conducted a half-day training seminar for men over the age of 40 to serve as mentors to younger men. About fifty men have attended the mentor orientation and those continuing in the program are entering a 12-lesson mentor training. In the fall, these men will invite a younger man into a yearlong mentoring relationship.
Man Camp
In May, we gathered with the theme, “God’s Story/Your Story: Finding Jesus in Your Broken Places.” Men learned to share their story and hold space for other men to share theirs. Many were impacted, some sharing deep wounds for the first time. Our men’s leadership team is exploring how to foster authentic community in our ministry programs.
Task Force Warrior
Task Force Warrior (TFW) continues to serve the practical needs of our church body and community. The TFW team is often assisting with repairs, yard work, and moving. We are grateful for our team of men faithfully led by Jeramy Brady.

This LC3 group met every Monday morning beginning March 2023. Men of all ages and physical backgrounds came for a brief devotional followed by a 25-35 minute workout and a time of prayer for one another. Over time, the goal is to train new leaders and work towards multiple peer-led groups teaching men the skills to confidently improve their health on their own. Both Eric Wylie and David Nelson have served as our workout leaders.

1 Corinthians 12:4-6
1 Corinthians 12:4-6 encapsulates women’s discipleship. The women at Lake City Community Church have come together with gifts, talents, energies, and sacrifices to promote the unity of Christ. As a result, the relationship with both Christ and one another has grown and deepened.
Bible studies continue to be a backbone of women’s discipleship. We’ve worked through refreshing books like Ruth, difficult books like Ecclesiastes, and challenging books like 1, 2, and 3 John to learn more about who God is and how He wants us to live. These classes were taught by nine different teachers and attended by over 700 women. The more we learn about God’s character and His Word, the more our lives are transformed into the image of Christ.
The 2023-24 MOPS/MOMSNext ministry (now re-named The MomCo) had 65 participants that met twice a month from September to May. We had seven Mentor Moms, three ladies who worked as our kitchen team, and a steering team of 13 women. All these leadership roles helped MomCo run well, and provided the women with opportunities for personal growth in leadership. Many of these women will return with positions such as Table Leader or serving on the Steering team for the upcoming year. We had many events including a sourdough class, game night, and Moms Night Away, as well as a multitude of topics discussed during our meetings. MomCo had a tremendous impact on the women, especially some of the women who did not call LC3 home prior to attending MomCo. Our last meeting of the year was themed “Tea & Testimonies” and we were able to hear how God impacted the lives of seven women through MomCo.
Stitching Sisters provided much needed fellowship among women while working on projects that impacted local and global ministries. This year, the sisters expanded their reach by teaching young moms at LC3 how to sew and even invited two high school small groups to make pillow cases for Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital.
This has been a year of sharing the goodness and faithfulness of God by telling our stories. Our Friday evening Christmas dessert and Saturday morning brunch events allowed for us to hear from our sister in Christ, Julie Franco, and to be challenged to look for God in the pieces of our lives as He weaves our story into His story. Nearly 300 women attended these events.
Our annual spring conference was held on campus again this year. Having this ministry on campus allows for women in all walks of life to participate in this impactful weekend. We were at capacity with nearly 200 women in attendance. Niki Oury, our speaker, challenged us to stand firm on our foundation of Jesus, cling to the truth of His Word, trust Him, and tell the story He has given us.
God continues to be faithful to Women’s Ministry, enabling us to impact lives for Him.
“I am thankful for the accountability and fellowship these [Bible study] women have provided over the last few months and I know I will need to continue to lean on them during this upcoming time of transition as my husband is getting out of the Army.”
- Jourdan Aduda
“Women’s Bible Study was the first thing I signed up for ... at LC3 a year ago. I was new to LC3 and desperately in need of community. My first session was summer of 2023 and I’ve signed up for every session since. I’ve not only made friends, but I’ve found a community of women that want to dive deep into God’s Word. It’s been a blessing and a privilege to be able to study the Bible with like-minded women.“
- Kelsie Weeks
“MomCo gave me intentional time with like-minded moms who I can share with in the joys and sorrows of motherhood. I believe I have made lifelong friendships this year and I will forever be grateful that God pushed me to make time in the schedule for me.”
- Jeny Jones
“[W2Connect] has been rewarding in so many ways. I expected it to be a lot harder to open up to a stranger and share my past, my future, and my present struggles.”

This was an awesome year of seeing God move in the hearts and lives of our high school students. Here are a few highlights!
• Malawi Mission Trip: A team of students and adult leaders served at the Passion Center for Children in Malawi last summer, leading Gospel-centered events for kids and coming alongside the work of the Passion Center to redeem, rescue, and restore orphans and their communities.
• Love Lakewood events: Free laundry day for people in our community; multiple clean-up events including local parks; and other activities to show love to our city.
• Over 100 high schoolers and leaders attended Winter Camp this year.
• High School Prom Night, where we had 190 students from six different churches represented!
• Hosted “The Comeback” in July, a multi-church, youth-led worship night at Fort Steilacoom Park where multiple kids gave their lives to Christ.
We are so excited for what God continues to do in our youth ministry!
We had another excellent year in Middle School Ministry at LC3. We continue to see more students come to know Jesus and grow in their faith journey. Additionally, we have grown our adult leader team and have witnessed these faithful leaders disciple our young people well as they lead small group ministries, organize events, and teach at youth group! We are so grateful for the investment of our amazing leaders.
Each year, Winter Camp is always a highlight. Nate Birdine was our guest speaker and brought an inspiring and encouraging word for our young people.
Matt Healy faithfully led and trained our worship team which significantly increased students’ ability to focus on the Lord during our worship time. We are rejoicing as we saw 10 students give their live to Christ this year!
We celebrate this year in Middle School Ministry as Aaron Bullock steps down after faithfully leading this ministry for the last four years. We are incredibly grateful to Aaron and his wife Jully, who have led with so much love and humility. We are excited for our new Middle School Ministry director Logan Brown, who started in his role the first week of June. We cannot wait to see the young lives that will be impacted by God this next school year!
“I liked being with my friends, playing games, doing the puppet shows, and serving the AWANA helpers and leaders. It made me feel happy to serve them and show them God’s love.”
- Hailey (11

“Serve team was fun. I enjoyed serving AWANA and I enjoyed doing puppet shows for the preschool. Most of all I liked coming together as a team to help out!”
- Lily (11 yrs)
LC3 Kids staff and volunteers seek to serve and bless our kids and families! What a joy this year to walk alongside many of our families in challenging times. Here are some of the ways LC3 Kids has engaged with our families:
• Assist refugee families in gaining comfort and learning English
• Help grandparents have confidence in their unexpected parenting role and support for their grandkids
• Support expanding families’ changing new dynamics
We have welcomed, loved, served, fed, and cared for those God has brought into our ministry, modeling and helping our kids to see Jesus in all we do. Thank you church family for loving well.
We think of one father who attends LC3. He struggles with housing and his mom, who has custody of the kids, is not a believer and does not attend LC3. She brings the kids to church on his behalf so we have built a relationship with her as well. We have blessed them and she has been so thankful.
One of the mom’s in our church felt lost in knowing how to parent her child. Miss Krystal and our volunteers have come alongside her to love her and her child and provide a community to help her feel supported in parenting.
We are so grateful for the many volunteers who help each week as we love our families!

“All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
Matthew 28:18–20
The Harvest is great and LC3 is responding!
We are grateful for leadership and a congregation that understands and supports the centrality of Jesus’ instructions to be His “witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the ends of the earth.” (Acts 1:8)
Our membership embraced the global and local efforts, not only in prayer but also in financial support. Every year we broaden our mission efforts to reach those who have not been exposed to the Word of the Lord. Many of the unreached do not have written documents or audio available to them, or their cultures do not allow access to faith-based teachings.
We are currently supporting 29 missionary families around the world in Niger, Chad, Malawi, Tanzania, Germany, France, Spain, Russia, Moldova, Abkhazia, the USA, and more (some that can’t be publicly mentioned for safety concerns). This past year, LC3 teams have gone to Niger, Malawi, and Los Angeles on short term trips, and we continue to send people from our LC3 family on longer missions as well. For 2025, we hope to have more local and international opportunities for our LC3 family!
Our Niger/Fulani team continues to work within Niger to touch the Tamajaq and Fulani people groups. The KAN (Kumyk, Akin, Nogai) team continues to forge ahead with reaching Dagestan people groups, and have broadened their efforts into the Turco-Russian area where the Good News has long been withheld.
Table of Nations (TON) completed their official first year. Their efforts are focused on aiding refugees here in the USA. Some of these families are believers in Jesus, but many have never heard or understood the Good News. Many of these refugees are attending LC3 weekend services and ministries thanks to the effort of the TON team. The Neighborhood Center (TNC) continues to serve our local outreach efforts through neighborhood events, the Bread of Life Food Bank, the community garden, and more.
LC3 continues to support outreach as a way to follow the Great Commission and spread God’s Word to the ends of the world. While each of you may not be able to go out in the mission field, your prayer and support are key ingredients in the success of our front-line Harvest laborers and our local outreach to our community and the internationals arriving right to our “backyard.”

One of the beautiful reasons God puts us in community is so we might care for one another. Congregational Care in our LC3 family includes pastoral counseling, Grief Share, Benevolence ministry, Ignite Hope, support groups, and so much more.
Our community groups, community group leaders, and community group coaches continue to be our first line of congregational care for over 300 of our church family. Doing authentic life together allows brothers and sisters to be aware of those who are in need of care.
We have a host of other ministries designed to care for specific needs in our church family:
• Grief Share – grief and loss support groups. We had spring and fall groups that met this past year, each completing the thirteen-week program.
• Benevolence Fund – met short term financial needs for our church and community.
• Caring Meals – provided meals for people in need (ie. new babies, illness, etc.).
• Ignite Hope – made great progress this year in all three branches of this ministry.
» Our ministry to support people around mental health began a weekly support group. They also hosted a seminar on dealing with anxiety.
» Our ministry to support women and men dealing with unplanned pregnancy and abortion recovery partnered this year with Embrace Grace and House of Refuge. We are very excited about both of these partnerships as we continue to stand for life in all ways.
» Our ministry to support adoption and foster care continues to build momentum for the coming year as they form new teams to support our foster and adoptive families.
• Community Groups – we added three new groups this year and are slowly adding to our numbers. More importantly many of our LC3 family continue to report strong connection and support from their community groups.
One of our strengths at LC3 is the way we support one another. This past year was no exception, and we look forward to this coming year and how God is going to show up in our LC3 family as we care for one another! Thank you, family, for loving God and loving one another!
Community Groups at LC3
300 people in Community Groups
159 Caring Meals provided
79 volunteers for Caring Meals
107% increase in requests for assistance
5.6% increase in financial assistance
The Benevolent Fund assists those in our community (church and local) needing financial help. Those asking for assistance meet with someone from the Benevolence Team and provide appropriate documentation to ensure they meet the criteria before assistance is given.
We have seen record numbers of people applying for financial assistance through the Benevolent Fund with more than twice as many applicants as we received last year. A large reason for this increase is the effects of the COVID pandemic. People became used to deferred payments and large quantities of extra money from ample financial assistance and unemployment checks, creating overwhelming debt that put families and neighborhoods into a tailspin. Our team’s goal has been to help these families financially, as well as provide financial education when possible. The team is looking at what could be a long-term solution to help families become self-sufficient.
The Benevolent Fund is funded through gifts given specifically to the Benevolent Fund. If you’d like to give toward this ministry, you can specify this on a giving envelope or at LC3.com/giving in the dropdown.
This year we helped 109 families for a total of $57,919.
The Benevolent Fund also supported the following ministries:

“Let all that I am praise the Lord; may I never forget the good things he does for me.” Psalm 103:2
Because of the generosity of the Lord’s faithful people and the greatest financial giving at LC3 to date, we began our current fiscal year with over $160,000 cash on hand. This fiscal year, the Lord again showed His generosity through His people with record setting giving for the fourth straight year! This allowed us to conduct an amazing 100th Anniversary Celebration, fund all ministry expenses for the year, upgrade computer and security networks, and increase our incredible workforce to support all worship and ministry activities.
With just one month left in this fiscal year (FY), your yearly giving is $2.363M, which is 5% ahead of projections and $224K ahead of where we stood at this time last year. We expect to be in excellent shape to meet all our budgeted obligations as we close out this fiscal year.
The Elder Board proposed budget for FY24-25 is $2.911M. Our commitment to tithe our budget to missions remains a central tenet of our fiscal philosophy. Operations and logistics, ministry budgets, and staff salaries and benefits all increased but less than in previous years. This is a significant achievement, given the rate of growth of our congregation and the many ministry activities the staff supports.
Thank you for your generous and faithful giving. We look forward with great expectation to the Lord’s many blessings during the coming year and the next 100 years of LC3, and how He will work in and through His people to give to the work of the ministry.
THE ELDER BOARD HAS APPROVED A MINISTRY FUND BUDGET OF $2,911,262 FOR THE UPCOMING 2024-25 FISCAL YEAR.
What is LC3’s budget?
Our budget is $2.911 million for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2025. We are funded entirely through the generous giving of our body. Those dollars are contributed throughout the year.
Why don’t we “pass the plate” for giving at LC3?
We believe the best way to facilitate joyful giving (2 Corinthians 9:7; Matthew 6:4) is not to prompt it with a specific moment in the service but to provide our body with opportunities to give as the Lord leads. Anyone can give online, send checks by mail, place gifts in the secure giving boxes in the Worship Center, or drop off gifts in person at our office.
How is LC3’s budget used?
Our budget goes directly to Kingdom work including all weekend and midweek ministries, our staff, and local and international ministry partners. Our budget also goes toward operating, maintaining, and developing the facilities on our campus, which are used all throughout the week to support ministry.
Does LC3 have any debt?
We have $3.4M in debt for the construction of our facility. Prior to our expansion, we were debt free, and we actively work toward paying off our debt as quickly as possible.
“The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.”
2 Corinthians 9:6-7
How is the budget created, approved, and managed?
Each ministry and department builds its budget from the ground up every year, evaluating what we should keep doing, start doing, and stop doing. Budgets are then reviewed by our internal finance and executive teams, and our Elders, who ultimately appove the budget.
We have rigourous processes to track every dollar in and out of LC3, with monthly reporting for each department.
Our annual financial statements are audited each year to ensure accuracy and accountability.
How did the budget change from last year?
Our budget increased by $336,856 over last year. High inflation and church growth are significant factors for this increase.
The only way our budget is maintained or can increase is through the generous giving of our body. We continually look for ways to use funds more effectively, cutting budgets where cost-saving opportunities are found. If additional staff hires are necessary to support growth, there is a rigorous process to vet all requests before they are approved. Our actual spending has consistently been less than budget, and any extra funds are put toward strategic priorities.
How does LC3 prepare for the unexpected?
Given that our economy cycles over time and we could be impacted in a downturn, we see wisdom in maintaining some reserves for the unknown. In accordance with the direction of our Elder Board, we set aside funds to cover two months of operating expenses, along with a reserve account to fund repairs and maintenance as needed for our facilities.
How do I get more information?
Our finance team is happy to meet with members to discuss our budget and answer finance-related questions. Please email Rick.Wells@LC3.com and let us sit down with you for a chat!

“By this we know love, that he laid down his life for us, and we ought to lay down our lives for the brothers.
But if anyone has the world’s goods and sees his brother in need, yet closes his heart against him, how does God’s love abide in him? Little children, let us not love in word or talk but in deed and in truth.”
1 John 3:16-18
Out of faithful and grateful hearts, you have given above and beyond to help others in need and to see God’s Word spread around the world.
The amounts listed here are what was given above and beyond financial gifts given to the General Fund. God’s love has shown through you to the world around us. What is even harder to quantify are the gifts-in-kind given throughout the year to support those in need. Included is a non-exhaustive list of those gifts as well. We are so grateful and amazed at LC3’s continued generosity.

“‘Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?’ And he said to him, ‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets.’”
Matthew 22:36-40
Our mission as a church is to advance God’s Kingdom by making fully-devoted followers of Christ in Lakewood and the world. This mission comes out of the Great Commission in Matthew 28:18-20 where Jesus commanded His followers to make disciples of all nations. And that is what a fully-devoted follower is: a disciple. Every ministry at LC3 is geared towards making and developing disciples.
Our vision is to be a Christ-honoring community that is passionate about loving God, one another, and the world. This comes from Matthew 22:36-40, where Jesus condenses the Mosaic Law into two essential commands: to love God and to love your neighbor.
