Developing Stronger Leaders in Tourism and Hospitality

The Lagos Business School Hospitality Initiative’s Developing Leaders in Tourism and Hospitality programme is designed to equip hospitality professionals with the leadership skills needed to manage teams, improve service delivery, and drive stronger business performance.

Tailored for business owners, supervisors, managers, and emerging leaders, the programme offers practical tools and frameworks for leading people effectively, building accountability, managing highturnover teams, and improving operational consistency in today’s hospitality and tourism industry

The two-day programme will be delivered both in person and online, with a registration fee of ₦725,000

Business Leaders’ Network: Insights on Leadership and Building Sustainable Businesses

The Lagos Business School Business Innovation Accelerator will host the next edition of the Business Leaders’ Network featuring Austin Avuru, Founder and Executive Chairman of AA Holdings and Pioneer CEO of Seplat Energy.

The session is designed for executives, founders, professionals, and aspiring business leaders.

The session will provide valuable insights into leadership, business growth, innovation, and building sustainable organisations in today’s evolving business environment.

Professor Segun Aina Appointed Registrar of JAMB

The LBS Alumni Community proudly celebrates the appointment of Segun Aina, a distinguished member of the SMP90 Class, as the new Registrar of Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Professor Aina, who will turn 40 in July, is a renowned academic, systems expert, and one of Nigeria’s youngest Professors of Computer Engineering. He currently serves as a Professor at Obafemi Awolowo University, where he has distinguished himself through groundbreaking work in digital infrastructure, examination systems, and institutional reform.

An accomplished scholar with global academic credentials, he holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Systems Engineering from the University of Kent, as well as an MSc in Internet Computing and Network Security and a PhD in Digital Signal Processing from Loughborough University. He also completed the Senior Management Programme (SMP90) at Lagos Business School

With over 15 years of professional experience, Professor Aina has worked at the intersection of technology, education, and public-sector transformation. He has advised federal and state governments on digital transition and institutional reforms and has also consulted for examination bodies including NECO and NABTEB on ICT systems and examination integrity.

Professor Aina’s association with JAMB dates back to his NYSC year, where he gained firsthand experience in examination and admissions systems, helping shape his passion for educational reform and innovation.

As a distinguished member of the SMP90 Class, his appointment is a proud moment for the entire LBS Alumni Community and reflects the institution’s enduring legacy of producing transformational leaders making meaningful impact across Nigeria and beyond. We are proud to celebrate the appointment of Mr Joseph Olasunkanmi Tegbe as the Honourable Minister of Power of the Federal Republic of Nigeria following his confirmation by the Senate.

A distinguished alumnus of Lagos Business School, Mr Tegbe’s elevation to this critical national role is a source of immense pride for the entire LBS community.

An accomplished fiscal and economic reform expert with over 35 years of experience across the public and private sectors, Mr Tegbe previously served as Senior Partner and Head of Advisory Services at KPMG Africa, where he led transformative initiatives in governance, institutional reform, and fiscal policy. He also currently serves as Director General and Global Liaison for the Nigeria-China Strategic Partnership, advancing strategic development cooperation between Nigeria and the People’s Republic of China.

His extensive experience within the power sector, including engagements involving the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission and the Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading Company, positions him strongly to contribute meaningfully to ongoing reforms aimed at enhancing grid stability, attracting sustainable investment, and improving outcomes across the sector.

Mr Tegbe’s professional journey, marked by strategic leadership, excellence, and service, reflects the values Lagos Business School seeks to instil in every member of its community.

Appointed BAT Nigeria Director

The accomplished regulatory affairs expert and LBS alumna takes on a strategic leadership role at British American Tobacco Nigeria.

British American Tobacco Nigeria (BATN) has announced the appointment of Ruth Owojaiye as Director, Corporate & Regulatory Affairs, reinforcing the company’s commitment to strong governance, regulatory excellence, and sustainable business practices.

Prior to her appointment, Ruth served as Head of Regulatory Engagements for BAT West & Central Africa, where she played a key role in advancing strategic regulatory engagement across the region

In her new role, she will provide leadership across government relations, public policy, corporate communications, sustainability, and stakeholder engagement, while supporting the company’s environmental, social, and governance priorities.

Commenting on the appointment, BAT Nigeria’s Managing Director, Yarub Al-Bahrani, described Ruth as a seasoned professional with deep expertise, strategic insight, and a proven ability to navigate complex policy and regulatory environments.

Throughout her career, she has contributed significantly to shaping regulatory frameworks and driving sustainable business outcomes.

Before joining BAT Nigeria, Ruth held senior leadership roles at Nigerian Breweries Plc, serving as Senior Regulatory Affairs Manager and Group Tax Manager. She also built a strong consulting career at KPMG Nigeria, where she led major tax advisory engagements and supported multinational brands entering the Nigerian market.

A distinguished alumna of Lagos Business School, Ruth’s academic and professional journey reflects excellence, strategic leadership, and a strong commitment to responsible business practices and talent development.

Mrs. Uzoma Dalhatu Inducted into CIoD Nigeria

Mrs. Uzoma Dalhatu is a seasoned Legal and Corporate Governance

Professional with over 15 years of experience across the financial services sector and private practice She currently serves as Assistant Company Secretary and Legal Manager at Old Mutual Nigeria.

An alumna of Lagos Business School and the University of Aberdeen, she previously served as Secretary of the Lagos Business School Alumni Association (LBSAA) and is the Class President of SMP64.

Recently, she was inducted into The Chartered Institute of Directors (CIoD) Nigeria alongside other distinguished business leaders, in recognition of her commitment to leadership and corporate governance excellence.

SMP 99 Project Defence: Turning Ideas into Impact

Participants showcased innovative, community-focused solutions designed to address real societal challenges.

Five teams presented practical solutions addressing real societal challenges across healthcare, education, sustainability, and community development

SMP 99 at Lagos Business School, Pan-Atlantic University recently reached a defining stage in their programme with the presentation of their project defenses. Working in five groups, participants developed practical solutions focused on key societal issues including waste management, neonatal healthcare, blood donation accessibility, inclusive learning for special care children, and dignified ageing for senior citizens.

The projects reflected not just innovative thinking, but also strong execution, collaboration, and a deep commitment to creating meaningful impact within communities. Participants drew from real-life experiences and community needs to shape solutions that addressed pressing challenges in practical ways.

At the end of the presentations, the neonatal healthcare project, which introduced a 24/7 solar-powered solution for the Mother and Child Care Centre in Ogombo, emerged as the winning team

The exercise highlighted the core of the SMP experience equipping participants with the leadership mindset and practical skills needed to drive sustainable impact in society.

In line with Lagos Business School's vision of developing responsible leaders to inspire Africa's growth, the alumni office continues to recognise classes who contribute to this dream through various means.

We are proud of the numerous initiatives of LBS alumni towards creating a better society wherever we are per time.
