In the hierarchy of motion, where engines roar and polished bodies gleam under city lights, the bicycle is often dismissed. It stands quietly by the roadside uncelebrated, underrated, and frequently overlooked. Among vehicular objects, it is perhaps the lowest rated, seen as a symbol of limitation rather than potential Yet, beneath its modest frame lies a quiet excellence that many fail to recognize.
The bicycle does not demand fuel, yet it moves. It does not boast speed, yet it arrives. It does not compete in noise, yet it endures While cars burn resources and motorcycles race for dominance, the bicycle remains efficient, reliable, and sustainable. It thrives without excess. It survives without applause. And in many ways, it outperforms its louder counterparts economically, environmentally, and even physically, by strengthening the very body that powers it
But the world rarely celebrates what is quiet.
Like the bicycle, many people walk through life carrying the weight of neglect. They are judged by their background, their current status, or the absence of visible success. Society often measures worth by appearance who shines the brightest, who moves the fastest, who commands attention. And in that flawed measurement, many valuable individuals are overlooked
Yet value is not always loud.
The bicycle teaches a different lesson. It reminds us that efficiency can exist without extravagance, that purpose does not require validation, and that strength can live in simplicity. Those who are underestimated often carry untapped resilience. They learn to adapt, to endure, and to grow without the privileges others rely on In time, these very traits become their greatest leverage
To be overlooked is not to be worthless it is often to be undiscovered.
The key, then, is not to internalize neglect but to recognize inherent value. Just as the bicycle becomes indispensable in the right context navigating narrow paths, surviving economic constraints, and promoting health so too can individuals rise when they understand and develop their strengths
Build your leverage. Sharpen your skills. Invest in your growth. Let your consistency speak where recognition is absent The world may not applaud immediately, but value, when cultivated, inevitably reveals itself.
So, do not see the neglect, see your value.

Osahon Ogieva Appointed MD/CEO of FirstBank Ghana
FirstBank Ghana has announced the appointment of Mr. Osahon Ogieva (SMP 34) as its new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, marking a new phase of leadership focused on continuity, growth, and innovation.
Mr. Ogieva succeeds Mr. Victor Yaw Asante, who has completed a successful two-term tenure and transitions into an international role within the FirstBank Group. His appointment reflects the Group’s commitment to strong governance and experienced leadership to drive sustainable growth across its markets.
With over 25 years of experience spanning petroleum services, manufacturing, banking, and financial services, Mr Ogieva brings a wealth of expertise in administration, risk management, credit, marketing, and relationship banking. Since joining First Bank of Nigeria in 2015, he has risen to the role of General Manager/Group Head, Telecoms and Conglomerates, managing a portfolio valued at approximately $720 million and leading complex, high-impact transactions
An accomplished economist, he holds multiple advanced degrees, including a joint MBA from Kellogg School of Management and Schulich School of Business, alongside executive education from institutions such as Stanford, INSEAD, Cranfield, and Lagos Business School.

Rethinking Strategy in Africa’s Digital Economy, Key Insights from PAU’s 22nd Inaugural Lectureure
Professor Nkemdilim Ezenwa Iheanachor, Professor of Strategic Management at Pan-Atlantic University (Lagos Business School), delivered the University’s 22nd Inaugural Lecture, focusing on how African firms must rethink strategy and value creation in an increasingly digital and interconnected world.
He challenged traditional ideas of competitive advantage, stressing that success today depends less on what firms own and more on their ability to build and manage strong ecosystems. He also highlighted the importance of developing innovative strategies that respond to Africa’s institutional realities and enable firms to compete and grow sustainably
The well-attended lecture, held at the Honeywell Auditorium and introduced by Vice-Chancellor Professor Enase Okonedo, brought together academics and industry stakeholders It sparked meaningful discussions on collaboration, coordination, and the role of ecosystems in driving the future of African business growth.

A Journey in Strategic Leadership and Academic Excellence
Professor Nkemdilim Ezenwa Iheanachor is a seasoned academic and strategic management expert with over 15 years at Lagos Business School, Pan-Atlantic University, where he is Professor of Strategic Management and International Business. He previously served as Senior Lecturer in the same field.
He is also Director of Accelon Professional Services, providing advisory support on strategy and business performance His industry experience includes roles at AfriCapital Investments, KPMG Nigeria, and Zenith Bank Plc, with expertise in corporate finance, consulting, and relationship management.
His research focuses on drivers of superior performance across firms, industries, and economies, especially in emerging markets. He holds a PhD and MPhil in Strategic Management from Pan-Atlantic University.
