OVERVIEW The Molecule Ottoman is a component of the Molecule System. It can be purchased as a standalone component or as part of the system. The Molecule System is based on 2 simple elements – a table/back rest (ie - the Molecule) and a circular Ottoman. In the plan view, the Molecule has a symmetrical organic shape reminiscent of a very stylized fish. It is sized so that the “head” shape of one Molecule can fit into the side or “tail” of another Molecule at any angle. Several Molecules can thus be arranged in a variety ways to suit any public space. The diameter of the Ottoman matches the curvature of the concave surfaces of the Molecule. The Ottoman can thus be located in 3 positions around the Molecule and use the Molecule as a backrest. Alternatively, Molecules provide a table-like surface when surrounded by Ottomans.
CONSTRUCTION DETAILS OTTOMAN The Ottoman is made from moulded polyurethane foam over a core. The core is made from a reclaimed bonded fibre tube caped top and bottom with plywood (1/2” top, ¾” bottom). The core is glued and screwed together. The polyurethane foam exceeds CAL-117 flammability. The bottom plate is fitted with 5 adjustable nylon glides.
OTTOMAN UPHOLSTERY The Ottoman is upholstered with a customer chosen fabric. The seams around the top edge are French stitched. The cover is stapled to the base and fitted with a dust cover on the bottom surface.
ASSEMBLY Units are shipped fully assembled.
