59 Stock Rams
59.1 Vendor’s warranty - The vendor warrants that any ram sold as a stock ram for the amount in paragraph (j) of the Appendix or more is capable of and effective at natural service. This warranty is a 10 week warranty.
59.2 Purchaser’s rights - If the purchaser proves a breach of warranty then the purchaser may return the ram to the vendor who shall, at the purchaser’s option, either replace the ram with another ram of equal value which is capable of and effective at natural service, or refund the purchase pric e together with such costs and charges as the purchaser may be entitled to under these Conditions. Notice of a claim must be supported by a veterinary surgeon’s certificate confirming that:
(a) the ram’s incapacity or ineffectiveness is not the result of injury, accident or illness happening after the time of the sale: and

In simple terms: higher value = higher profit per lamb
The texelplus economic indexes support the breed’s development with an increased focus on commercial traits and profitability. The TERMINAL and REPLACEMENT INDEXES reflect the breed’s influence on industry. Both are presented as the potential extra profit per lamb born in a commercial setting, compared to the population average.
The TERMINAL INDEX supports increased profitability through improving prime lambs and is weighted strongly for meat production. The REPLACEMENT INDEX includes additional maternal traits to optimise production of female replacements. Commercial producers solely producing prime lambs should use the TERMINAL INDEX to inform their selection; however, those retaining female replacements should use the REPLACEMENT INDEX
Sub-indexes underpin the indexes to provide more information on the relative values of growth, carcass quality, reproduction, and adult size.

High ranking rams deliver over £6.00 per lamb more than lower-ranking rams. Over a ram’s working lifetime, this is easily worth an extra £1,500 per ram; generated through shorter finish times and improved carcass quality

PART DISPERSAL SALE OF THE CRAIGHEAD FLOCK
(On behalf of Messrs J Cullen)
The Craighead flock of Texels was founded in 1978 with the purchase of a Ewe Lamb from the Prevost flock in France. Further gimmers have been purchased in over the years from Milnbank, Turin and Ettrick.
We have enjoyed success in both the show and sales rings over the years with sheep regularly receiving prizes at the Royal Highland Show being Reserve Champion twice. In the sale ring, gimmers, tup lambs and ewe lambs have been sold to top flocks both at National and Club Sales. Tup lambs have sold to 50,000gns for Craighead Hercules, 27,000gns Craighead Yankee, 26,000gns Craighead Dynamite, 21,000gns Craighead Masterpiece and 15,000gns Craighead Crackerjack. Females have sold to a top of 13,000gns and 5,500gns four times at the Select Seven Sale. Notable sires used over the years include, Parkhouse Value, Ettrick Glenmorangie, Hartside All Star, Fordafourie Amalert and Uskvale Crackerjack.
Our entire Adult Portions of the flock is on offer here today and the oldest of the ewe lambs, with the intention of selling the rest of the ewe lambs next year. We would like to thank everyone who has supported us over the years and wish all prospective buyers the very best of luck with their purchasers.
All stock will be Insured for 3 months at the fall of the hammer.

After 34 years, the time has come to disperse the Crailloch flock.
I have had many successes over the years, the highlights being Crailloch Galaxy who sired the 50,000gn lamb for Cambwell; and in 2014 receiving Reserve Champion in the Texel Society’s 40th anniversary National flock competition.
More importantly, I have enjoyed the camaraderie and banter within the Texel world and made many good friends. Thank you to everyone for their support and I hope the females go on and do well in their new homes.

PART THREE REDUCTION SALE OF THE RUSHA FLOCK (On behalf of Messrs JW Gibb & Son)
The Rusha flock was established in 1976 with a single ewe lamb purchased in the French importation. Successes at Royal Highland Show include Breed Champion in 1986, Fleece Champion in 1988 and 1989 and the Carcase Champion in 1997.

We started off breeding Ram Lambs for sale, however since 1997 we changed to breeding to sell Shearlings, which allowed us to lamb later, and doesn’t require us to push feeding etc, resulting in sheep that go on and do well - with tup buyers returning year after year. A practice we have used with our Gimmers, what you see is what you get.
In the past year, we have sold 20 cast ewes to a top of £280, averaging over £200.

FINAL DISPERSAL SALE OF THE GREENBANK FLOCK

The Greenbank flock was established 41 years ago with the purchase of 5 Ewe Lambs. The intent was to produce Ram Lambs for use on the Commerical Sheep then sell them on as Shearling Rams, which were mainly sold at Lanark and Carlisle for the first 20 years then mainly Carlisle for the past 20 years – averaging £740 last year and £820 the previous year.
The big highlight for me was winning the Female Championship at the Scottish National Show & Sale at Lanark.
Stock Tups were purchased annually at mainly Lanark, but also at Carlisle – traits being skin and carcase.
The flock is being sold due to commercial sheep being mainly hill types and retirement age is here.

FINAL DISPERSAL SALE OF THE WESTWOODLANE FLOCK

The Westwoodlane flock began in 2010 when I purchased two Ettrick in-lamb gimmers at the Select Seven Sale . Over the years, I have slowly added gimmers from Watchknowe, Teiglum, Strawfrank, Grougfoot, Camwell, Tima and Boghouse to develop a solid flock of well bred sheep.
Along the way Jimmy Warnock acted as my mentor, with Kenny O'Connor helping me with Show and sale preparation. Thanks to their guidance, I went from being a complete novice to winning the Texel Championship at Abington Show in 2019.
Last year due to ill health, I sold my breeding ewes . This year's entries are my remaining Texels, last year's lambs, that I held onto to let them mature naturely, before selling.
I have enjoyed being part of the Texel Community, making lots of friends along the way. Thank you all for being so patient and generous with your advice and guidance. This year my health is much improved, so my bucket list awaits!
