Adults and children ages 3 to 5 work together while learning about nature, shapes, colors, ABC’s, and 123’s. Each participating child will create a craft, devour a snack, and experience a short garden excursion. We’ll talk about our five senses and how to use them to better experience the garden. Pre-registration is required by November 27. January 8 or 9 | ABC’s This month’s class focuses on the Marjorie K. Daugherty Conservatory. We’ll explore the alphabet and the flowers, plants, and trees that call the conservatory home. Pre-registration is required by January 1. February 5 or 6 | Colors of the Rainbow This month’s class focuses on the Marjorie K. Daugherty Conservatory. We’ll explore the colors of the rainbow and where they may be found in the conservatory. Pre-registration is required by January 29.

March 4 or 5 | Rascally Rabbits In this month’s class, participants will take a walk through the garden to find evidence of rascally rabbits. Pre-registration is required by February 26. April 8 or 9 | Erosion This month’s class focuses on the woodland waterfall. We will explore the good side and the bad side of water in the garden. Pre-registration is required by April 1. May 6 or 7 | Frogs and Toads This month’s class focuses on frogs and toads throughout the garden. We’ll talk about the difference between frogs and toads as well as what they eat, where they live, and how they use their senses like us. Pre-registration is required by April 29.

Spend time as a family at Lauritzen Gardens completing a craft project and exploring a related garden with a guide. Please note: only one craft is included per family. All workshops are held from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Bird House Decorating | January 11 Learn about birds of Nebraska and birds we have identified at Lauritzen Gardens. Bring your binoculars to look for birds in the garden. Families will decorate a bird house with bird food and other edible materials. Come back to the classroom and create a family hearts door hanger listing all the things you love about nature. Members $25, Non-members $35 LEGO® Brick Clock | March 14 Take a guided walk through the Nature Connects® exhibit. Then build your own clock entirely out of LEGO® bricks. In order for curious minds to bloom, it is essential to plant a love of reading at a young age. Join the Omaha Public Library in the garden each month for stories that celebrate gardens, plants, insects and more, while discovering the joys of nature, movement, music, and literature. Programs are presented from 10 to 11:30 a.m. and are geared for preschool aged children, but all ages are welcome. This is a free program. Preregistration is requested. Campers will be shown how to craft simple instruments from natural materials and guided though creative writing activities.

June 15 through 19 or July 27 through 31 Delving into our Earth’s wild habitats, campers will be able to experience the skills needed to survive in nature. Tracking knowledge every day that covers basic first aid, identifying plants, and other survival skills.

Make beautiful floral designs to display at home or provide as a gift. Each workshop has its own unique theme which allows you to enjoy a new experience each time you participate. H ERB S AND DIGESTION March 8 | 2 to 3 p.m. Explore some of the plants commonly used in herbalism to assist in maintaining balance in digestion, including a variety of culinary spices which may enhance and strengthen digestive power according to Vedic tradition. November 23 through January 5 | 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Closed Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Day Thousands of poinsettias bursting with rich, vibrant color fill the floral display hall in a glowing tribute to the holidays during the spectacular holiday poinsettia show. In the center of it all, a magnificent and majestic 20-foot-tall poinsettia tree stands tall. Surrounded by a cascade of twinkling white lights, glittering ornaments and the whir and whistle of model garden trains, this show evokes the warmest greetings of goodwill and cheer.

David, who revels in “the opportunity to be a part of something with such immense global impact,” will walk us through the year-round planning by staff and volunteers create this premiere holiday event. Created by artist Sean Kenney, this exhibit features sculptures of endangered animals built entirely from LEGO® bricks and builds awareness for conservation of all living things. Underwood’s use of unique color combinations and floral varieties has drawn admirers from all over the world. She’ll be creating show-stopping arrangements during the luncheon as she discusses her spectacular career and shares tips on how to create eye-catching and extraordinary floral designs to enhance every occasion.
